Amazon Alexa and Sonos

Bonjour,   Mon problème est le suivant : J’ai le meme compte et ai validé la connection : ALEXA ET SONOS SONOS ET SPOTIFY ALEXA ET SPOTIFY La lecture de spotify depuis l’application sonos fonctionne (en cliquant sur les boutons) L’envoi par AIrplay de musique depuis spotify vers les enceintes SONOS fonctionne POURTANT, quand je demande à Alexa de par mon enceinte sonos de lire spotify, il me dit VOICI SPOTIFY mais ne lis rien du tout ! Pareil si je demande a ALEXA par SONOS de changer la musique alors ca ne fonctionne pas.   J’ai essayé de reparamétrer la connexion spotify / Alexa ainsi que reparamétrer la connexion Spotify / Sonos ainsi que la connexion Sonos / Alexa. Pouvez-vous m’aider svp ? Je vous avoue ma déception du système sonos que je pensais plus performant...

Hi -  I’ve used speaker groups for a while now, but recently disabled it.     Is anyone having trouble with this Alexa still?  It used to work great but is not working now.   When I go to drill into the skill details, it just blinks and eventally times out back to the generic skills list.

When starting Amazon Music from Alexa it will not skip to the next song. It will do so when started from SONOS and even with Spotify. I have tried disabling and enabling and removing all my devices, resetting them then reinstalling and finally enabling the Alexa skill. Non of this works and it’s very frustrating and seem like SONOS is either doing it on purpose or ignoring all the threads on the SONOS community. Having a device that cannot skip or resume tracks defeats the purpose of having a smart voice enabled device in the first place. Otherwise, I will just connect my phone to my stereo with an auxiliary input and just do it myself knowing that this way WORKS 100%OF THE TIME

I bought two Sonos One Gen 2 speakers to replace two echo dots.  But the speakers cannot understand me.  I literally have to yell into them from 2 feet away for them to understand me with no music or ambient noise.  From 5 feet away they understand me about 20% of the time.  The echo dots understand me from 20+ feet away in the same locations and environment.  I am very disappointed and expected more from Sonos.  I have a 15 speaker system in another house that works flawlessly, none with voice control though.  Guess I will have to return these speakers and go back to amazon devices.  Just hoping as a last ditch effort that maybe there is a setting somewhere to increase sensitivity?  This is not usable as it currently is.

Does anyone know when will Sonos Radio be integrated with Alexa?

Hello, I have a Sonos Beam connected to my TV and a couple of Sonos Play One.   The speakers are working and I can listen to my TV or music in any of them, but I can solve the Alex issue: The Sonos Beam appears to be OFFLINE on the Alexa app.   I tried rebooting, disconnecting and reconnecting the router (wired to the Beam), rebooting the iPhone and the Sonos & Alex apps, etc. Still not working, any ideas? Many thanks

Can anyone tell me how to connect Sonos and alexa in Poland? I will use it in english. I can buy echo for that but I dont know if this worth the hussle.

Hi,  I have the speakers listed below spread across a number of rooms in my house, and typically use Spotify as a source to play music -- which is sometimes activated via Alexa on my Sonos One. My concern is: the volume WILL NOT remain consistent between all of the devices, with the Sonos One (Alexa-capable device) typically responding to my voice-enabled requests to raise volume -- and even sometimes without any voice request.  The Sonos One very often changes/elevates volume -- leaving the other speakers at lower volume -- even when I have the Sonos app on my phone enabled and am controlling it manually, and have to use the all-speaker slider at the bottom to regulate the volume downward. HELP!  The fact that Sonos is discontinuing support to ‘legacy’ products gives me further concern that nothing will be resolved: hey Sonos, sorry you got burned by the big guys, but don’t burn folks who have bought (heavily, expensively) into your ecosystem.  Fix what exists before you discontinue s

Like many of us, one reason I want Alexa on my Sonos is to get easy access to their vast range of radio programmes. The main way to do this now seems to be via the BBC Skill.  But there are problems, for instance:  Suppose I listen to the 6 o’clock news on 10th January, but don’t finish.  Then I ask for the 6 o’clock news on 11th January.  It will resume the episode from the 10th, i.e. one day out of date, without any means of moving to the next episode. The skill notes say that I should be able to move to the next episode, fast foward within an episode, and so on, by saying “Alexa, ask the BBC to … fast forward”, etc, but in fact all such instructions are met with, “I can’t do that”. A little Googling suggests that these problems are widespread.  It does seem incredible that, given the state of the art, we still can’t reliably and easily access to the desired episode of the desired BBC radio programme, but we can’t -- though I don’t know whether to blame Amazon, the BBC, or Sonos. I have 2 homes with two separate Sonos systems.  For each of these systems I have them Alexa enabled.  I want the systems to be able to share one Sonos account so they can share an Apple Music subscription.  Upon initial setup in House 2,  I setup the speakers, created a group in Alexa, and everything worked fine.  I went back to House 1, and it will play with the app, but not with Alexa.  When you say, “Alexa, Play Neil Young”, the speaker will say that it’s playing Neil Young, but it does not.  The solution is to disable the Sonos skill in Alexa, and then re-enable it.  Then everything works like normal in House 1, but. . . the Alexa/Sonos linkage stops in House 2.  I went back to House 2, deleted the Sonos skill in Alexa, then re-enabled it and everything works great in House 2, but. . . the Alexa/Sonos linkage stops in House 1.  Any advice on how to get them working properly in both houses?

How do I change the wake word on my new Sonos Beam?

I have a problem with the microphone on Sonos Move. It turns on all the time (beep sound), and suddenly Goggle Assistant lady starts to speak. It happens several times in one hour. Anoying!   I have turned off the microphone, but I want to have it turned on. It didn’t behave in this way before.

We have a Sonos beam with integrated Alexa. It’s always worked well but over the last couple of days she’s started saying ‘volume up / down receiver HDMI’ every time we change the volume on the TV. I can’t find any way to turn this off and was wondering if anyone else had come across this problem and how to fix it. Many thanks in advance.

I have installed some custom skills in my Alexa app which stream music from online radio stations (not via Tunein or any other service, these are custom radio stations). When I ask Alexa on my Echo Dot, or Alexa on my phone app to play, the station the confirms "playing station name" and the music stream starts. When I try this on the Sonos asking Alexa to play this service, it again confirms "playing station name" but NO MUSIC STARTS. This is clearly a restriction with Alexa on Sonos devices and you've done this to dictate what can and can't be played through the speakers. Please test yourself, download the "State of the art radio" skill and ask it to play on Sonos.  You'll see this won't. Anybody know why this is is being sold as “Alexa”, when actually it’s “Restricted Alexa by sonos” as it lacks functionality all other Alexa enabled devices have by default.

I’ve had Sonos and Alexa for a long time and had everything setup well and working for a long time. In the past few weeks I’ve noticed that my Echo Dots (I have one in each room) no longer duck the Sonos speaker in the the same room group. I’ve double checked all the groups in the Alexa app to ensure the correct speaker is grouped with the correct Echo Dot, and that there are no speakers not in groups, but unfortunately, ducking is only working in one room out of four.   Has anyone else had this issue resurface recently?   I’ve removed the Sonos skill and re-added it with no success.   If anyone has the same setup (Sonos without Alexa built in and using standalone Echo Dots for example), please can they let me know if ducking works?   Thanks guys!

Hello,   The Philips Hue Bluetooth claims to work without the Hue Bridge and you can use Alexa or Google Assistant.   So how does this connect to the Sonos One 2nd Gen. ? I know the Sonos One 2nd Gen. has bluetooth in it.   So how can you control these bluetooth lights with Alexa without using the hue bridge ?   Thanks in advance, Soxbrother

Can the Sonos Beam be added to Alexa's "Multi-Room Speakers" Group? Yes, a Beam can be added to a "Group" via the Alexa app. That is not what I am trying to do. More specifically, I am looking to add the beam to my already existing "multi-room music group" ("groups" are not the same thing as "multi-room music groups") Things I have already attempted / looked for: • I see the Beam listed under all devices in the Alexa app, and it is showing that it is online. • All of my Alexa devices and Beam are on the same Wi-Fi network. • I have the Sonos skill enabled on my Alexa app. • I have the Sonos app downloaded on iOS and I am signed in. • "Have you tried turning it off and back on again?" 😛 - Yes, I've closed the Alexa app, restarted my phone, tried adding from the existing multi-room group, deleted that same existing group and tried to add by starting from scratch. Nothing. • I use Spotify as my music service. It is enabled on Alexa app and added on Sonos app.

Hi, I’ve had a beam for about 2 months and all was working fine with Alexa and an LG tv. But a couple of weeks ago the “Alexa switch to tv” command stopped working. It gives the following reply “Sorry. The device this device is no longer supported”. Has anyone else noticed this/have a solution? Which device is it referring to? Thanks. 

hi I ask Alexa to play BBC Radio 2 from my Sonos speaker’s upstairs and it works  but my downstairs Sonos speakers stopped playing Radio 2 when the service via Tuneln  was disabled. the upstairs voice is English and downstairs is American. I’ve tried Amazon for help but they couldn’t fix it for me. any help gratefully received. 

Hello everyone,, I would like to get a couple of Echo dots for around the house so that I can use the drop-in feature. I am concerned that having these around will mean they will interfere with my Sonos Ones. Most of the times I use Alexa on my Sonos speakers it is to change lights and smart plugs, so I assume whichever device hears me will do this without an issue. But sometimes I do ask Sonos to play music, etc. Will the Echo Dot hear the music request instead and not play the songs over Sonos? Does anybody else have a set up with both devices in the same room????

I have recently joined the SONOS family. When my four SONOS Ones arrived I was keen to get Alexa up and going through my SONOS speakers everywhere I could. However, imagine my surprise when when I got to the voice services setup page and it said (Alexa) 'Not available in your country.' However, as they say in the trade when the going gets tough, the tough open a beer and start tweaking/modding/hacking. For the curious I bring you a step-by-step 'hypothetical' guide to getting Alexa going with you Sonos One in an unsupported region. Should you be so inclined....... 1. Login to your SONOS account. Change your country to the US. 2. Go to alexa.amazon.com and login with your Amazon account. Just log in. Nothing else needs to be done here. 3. Go back to the Sonos app on your phone. Go to 'More' at the bottom right and tap on “Voice Services”. If everything went well, there will be a set of instructions to link up SONOS and Alexa. 4. Getting and installing the Alexa App. Ok

I have a Sonos One in my bedroom that is set to a very low volume using the buttons on the top of the device. This is so I don’t bother anyone in the next room. However if I say “Alexa volume 1” this sets the Alexa volume higher than what I’ve set the Sonos device manually. So when I say “Alexa, news”, I get the following”   “Here’s your news” (at the louder Alexa volume) “from Sky news” (at the lower manually set Sonos volume) “from Sky news” (yes, repeated, at the lower manually set Sonos volume) Then the news follows at the lower manually set Sonos volume.   So I have a couple of questions. How do I get Alexa to reply in the first instance at the lower volume? Why is Alexa repeating “from Sky News”.

I can't use Tunein with Alexa on my sonos, it is screwing up my requests to play BBC Radio 2, it appears to overide other radio services such as my Tuner Radio and Radio Player, it is showing as the default radio player on Alexa and I cannot delete it I assume that is because it is embedded in the sonos software. Does anyone have any ideas how to get rid of Tunein on my sonos system?

Adding music to a wake-up routine, trying to get the playback device or "Alexa will respond from" to be my Sonos speakers, but only see Amazon devices available for selection. Only other choice is to respond from "the device you speak to," but that throws an error when the routine executes and no music plays from my Sonos. Thoughts?

Hi, I used a Echo Dot to have Alexa integration on a Sonos Port connected to a Onkyo “Works with Sonos” receiver (but this last part is working well). I grouped Echo Dot and Sonos Port in the same group in the Alexa app, and set the Sonos Port as default speaker. In Italy Audible service is not available among Sonos services (just incredibile… but this is the situation). However, you can indeed use Audibile through Alexa. I noticed the following: if I give the Alexa command through a Sonos One I have in my system (in another room), book reading comes thru my amplified speakers (“Alexa read the book in the kitchen”) if I use the Alexa app and select the group said above, book reading come thru my amplified speakers if I give the Alexa command through the Echo Dot (in the same group as Sonos Port, with Sonos Port as default speaker) Alexa won’t execute Audible through Sonos Port, but through the Echo Dot.
