Amazon Alexa and Sonos

I have figured out how to turn off the Alexa “wake” tone, but now I have a tone that plays after Alexa responds to a request.  I have not been able to find anywhere in either the S2 app or the Alexa app.  Does anyone know how that is controlled?

Hi. Newbie here. I just bought a 2nd Gen Sonus One and I'm SOOOOOO disappointed. The sound is superb for such a small piece of kit but… the insanely high volume of Alexa's voice in relation to music means we simply can't bear to use Alexa at all, so we're just using the One as a mini speaker with no smart functionality.  What a waste.   I can see this is a problem for many people on here: if you turn the volume down so Alexa's voice isn't shaking the walls, then your music/content is inaudible. And if you play your music at an average volume, then Alexa can be heard at the end of the road!   It's so obvious that you should be able to control the level of Alexa’s (or Google Assistant's) voice seperately from the level of your music. But no.   I read an old post on here saying that new firmware in “May/June" would address this. June is nearly over… Does anyone have any info?   Thanks for any help.            

Hi everyone, I’m sure this question has been asked lots of times but I can’t seem to find a definitive answer. Can you use Alexa via another device (i.e. smartphone) to control Sonos speakers that don’t have integrated Alexa functionality? For example, suppose someone had this setup: 2x Sonos One in the kitchen 1x Sonos Five in the living room 1x Sonos One SL in the bedroom Only two of those four speakers have Alexa built-in (the Ones in the kitchen). However, if you happened to be in the kitchen, could you say something along the lines of “Alexa, play Spotify in the bedroom?” or would that not work as the bedroom speaker doesn’t have Alexa built-in? If it does work, would that then mean that a smartphone could also be used to action voice commands? For example, if the person was in the living room, could they use the Alexa app on their phone to say ‘Alexa, play Spotify in the living room?’ In fact, if that is possible, could you not just use the assistant on the smartphone? If I buy a Sonos one in the US will it and the Alexa functionality work in South Africa

Just bought a Sonos Move - arrived yesterday, followed the instructions and set up the device without any major problems. Downloaded the Sonos app (version 2) then downloaded the Amazon Alexa App. Set up TuneIn, set up Voice Control and before you know it I was playing music from the MOVE without any problems - took it into the garden 50 yards from the house (wall is solid stone) but no issues picking up WIfi - really impressive However…… Since I bought the device in France and live in France the device is set up in French so Alexa responds in French, but the setup said I would be able to change the language in the Sonos App. So, I looked up question in the community - followed the instructions but came unstuck because the app does not give me a language option. I then tried to change the language in Alexa and I get the same problem - I cannot change the language. I have looked up several videos on Youtube but I cannot find the screens they refer to - both for Sonos and Alexa - NO LAN

I have had several Alexa routines on my Sonos One that I have been using for well over a year.  Yes, Alexa would say “audio routines on this device are not supported” but it would go ahead and run them anyway.  Yesterday (Monday May 4) after the error message, the routines stopped working altogether.    When I went into the Alexa App on my phone, I tried to run the Routine manually with the play button, but the list of devices did not include any of my Sonos One speakers (only the Amazon ones).  Wondering if the Sonos speakers disconnected, I went to the list of Alexa devices and my Sonos ones were still there.    thr fact this happened on a Monday makes me wonder if Amazon changed a policy that prevents users from running routines rather than just preventing them.   Anybody else have this issue?

I just installed my new Sonos Arc on my older Samsung TV via the optical cable (only option as there is NO HDMI-ARC on this older TV).    I have other Sonos Ones in the house with Aiexa already and they work fine.  During the Sonos install of the Beam, is stated that it linked with Alexa.    The Alexa function does not work at all on the Arc.  The iight for the microphone is not on.  The Arc does not respond at all to Alexa commands.  How do I debug / fix this?   I expected I would have normal Alexa functions (ask weather, or news) and be able to control the Arc Volume with Alexa as I do on the Sonos Ones.  Please advise - Thanks!

I just set up a pair of new Sonos Five (2020) and updated the app to S2. Everything went smoothly. Then I went to add Alexa via the app, got into the Alexa app on an Ipad, it discovered the Sonos and added them fine but when I try to use it, nothing happens. I still can control the Sonos via separate Amazon echo device but not directly via built in Alexa. I tried to delete and rediscover method but it did not help. Is it the S2 app problem, Sonos skill for Amazon outdated or do I need to try something else? Thanks.

I was very excited to receive my new Sonos Arc yesterday, it is my 1st Sonos product!  The unpack and install was effortless.  The sound quality was amazing when listening to music and also produced outstanding surround effects with a dolby atmos rated movie. However, my proud purchase quickly turned sour when I was unable to integrate the arc with my existing Alexa speaker group. I read a few articles prior to purchasing the arc that ultimately misled me as they all stated the arc would integrate with Alexa groups, which is true - it does integrate with groups but it doesnt integrate with “speaker" groups! Has anyone else run into this issue with either the arc or other sonos product?  If so, is there a known work around? Any help would be greatly appreciated as I do not want to return this product but would be forced to do so if it cannot work with the rest of my speaker group. Regards, Chris    

I have 2 Sonos One's and use Alexa to access/play Spotify, I have now upgraded Spotify to a family account so we can have our own profiles. How do I get Alexa to switch between Spotify profiles?    I have been searching for days and have got nowhere... Any help would be very appreciated.

In the last two weeks or so, my Sonos One does this thing where I’ll ask it via Alexa to play a song and it will play whichever song I was listening to prior.   For example, if I listened to “Halo” by Beyoncé five minutes ago and then I say “Alexa, play ‘Perfect’ by Ed Sheeran,” it will start playing “Halo.” Per another person’s question I saw on here, I’ve disabled Alexa in my Sonos app, deregistered my Sonos in my Alexa app, signed out of all Amazon apps on my phone, and then reenabled Alexa voice services on my Sonos, reregistered my Sonos in my Alexa app, etc. and it’s still acting up. Any tips?

My Sonos beam will turn off the TV but won't turn it back on again. It's a hisense smart TV. All other functions turn up sound or down etc are ok.

Hi, The Global radio stations have stopped playing on my Sonos 1 when I ask Alexa.  Through either Global player or Tunein.  Radio 1 fine.   I have disabled skills in Sonos app and Alexa app and still not working.   does anyone have any ideas please?  Save my tired fingers from doing it via the Sonos app ;-)   thanks nick 

I have 2 sonos ones and a beam, when I ask to skip track with alexa on spotify, she just says I cant skip to the next song. Very frustrating.

Alexa says she cannot play the next song when asked to do so. This is a sonos problem because other alexa devices will skip when asked. Only sonos devices wont skip. Sonos and alexa seem to respond correctly to all.other requests, weather, timer, play music etc.

This is driving me mad! I can turn on night mode and speech enhancement mode on the Beam via Alexa  but how do I turn them off via Alexa? Please tell me this exists and hasn’t been overlooked by whoever develops the Sonos Alexa skill. Without it, the whole concept of a universal remote is broken. How hard would it have been to allow people to toggle these modes via Alexa (or via an IR code)?

Hi, Alexa accepts command to play tunein on Sonos and acknowledges but then fails to play anything. OK on Echo dot so seems like a Sonos problem. Started happening yesterday. Any suggestions please? Thanks   

Hi, I am having real problems with Alexa at the minute, Firstly alexa cant skip songs, I have followed others and deleted the devices out of the alexa app and it fixes it for a day or so then it stops again. I am not sure that doing this every day is a workable solution. Secondly When asking Alexa to play any music it will only play the first song then stop, I have looked for the household setting but deleting a user out of a household seems a bit drastic as we share our prime account etc. Does anyone have any advice?

The voice commands on my sonos beam have never worked properly with my firestick even though I have the two linked (at least I think I did it correctly). The strange thing though is when I use voice commands with my firestick remote in changes the tv inut to the sonos beam and I get a black screen with white squiggly lines that cycles through different patterns. I have to physically change the input back to the firestick to do anything and its like I never did a voice command in the first place. Has anyone run into this issue, I can’t seem to figure it out! I have an LG smart tv if that helps. Thanks!

Hi, I have a large Kitchen / Diner / Sitting Room. In the sitting room area I’m thinking about getting in wall and in ceiling speakers to 2 amps for a 5.1 (plus sub and phantom centre) for movies. I would also like to use them for stereo music and control them using Alexa. I have 2 Sonos One above the kitchen cabinets grouped.   Could I control the in wall and ceiling speakers by simply telling Alexa in the Sonos One. “Alexa, play radio in sitting room” or would they have to be part of the same group? The 2 x Sonos One are in the ‘Kitchen Group’ and the 5.1 would be in the ‘Sitting Room’ group. thanks Adam 

I am trying to figure out what the Alexa command is to play Sonos Radio Stations on my Sonos Speakers.  I am able to have Alexa play Tunein, and a few others but not any station on Sonos Radio. When I ask Alexa to play Cruise Control on Sonos Radio, it replies that I should first enable the skill for Sonos One on my Alexa app and then ask me to discover devices.  The skill is already enabled and no new devices are discovered.   Can anyone provide suggestions on how to make it work?  

When I ask Alexa to play music on Move, it plays it on another Sonos device in another room instead.  Any ideas why?
