I am not one to normally post on forums but this last update has only impacted my system but I can see, after coming here, that this is not just my issue allow. Like many of you I have heavyly invested in Sonos and guided my friends and family to invest in sonos as well. So not only do I have a system that is not working but a large swath of my friends and family are also calling asking for help with their systems. If you are like me, you are part of the army of Sonos users who have helped Sonos grow through word of mouth. As such I thought It was important to chime in and add my voice to yours as a user who feels very disappointed in Sonos and embarrassed about how this is impacting those I have recommend Sonos to. @Sonos fix this and make good by those of us who have invested so much and have championed your brand.
As title says I was about to invest in the new Ace Headphones however, until my Sonos playlists are reinstalled and the app sorts out the missing features everything is on hold.So disappointed after spending a lot of money on this system ☹️
I’m a new user to Sonos and found the purchase, setup and use just awesome…until this new app replaced old one. I found the old app to be very easy to navigate to bring up songs and go back to lists while listening, get in and out of screens without feeling stuck and getting frustrated. I also find that I get an “something went wrong” message just trying to select songs. I really don’t like this new app and find myself listening less often now than before. Please fix and improve soon.
My husband and I retired from work in 2019 and 2021, respectfully. In preparation for retirement, we wanted to replace our ailing 40-year-old Harman Karden system and JBL speakers so we did our research and decided on the Sonos Play 5 speakers. We don’t have many wants or needs but music is a daily necessity, and this simple, intuitive, easy-to-navigate system was perfect for us. We set alarms to wake us up, to accompany cocktail hour, and to put us to sleep. We had a library of favorite stations and playlists. Until now. This latest update has been so frustrating and disruptive to our daily lives. We’re not completely tech-savvy or tech-enthralled, but we know enough to get by. However, we shouldn’t have to be Ph.Ds in software engineering in order to listen to some music. Please fix the app so we can enjoy the few years we have left on this earth. Please.
Just adding my voice to the feedback about the new app. I have been completely disappointed with the new app. Simple things you could do in the old app are no longer easy. For example, I play a certain Apple Music station every Sunday morning. There is a Recently Played option where the station appears. When you select it, Sonos displays the “Something went wrong” message. Searching for that station took me 5 minutes to find it even though I have done it several weeks in a row now. Another complaint is that I cannot play my Sirius stations. Sonos (or Sirius) broke this in the old app. Calls to Sirius and Sonos just resulted in finger pointing with no solution. I was hoping that the problem would be fixed in the new version but Sirius is still not working. Argh!&$# There are many other examples. Just not willing to invest too much time until I see some progress on their end. Chris S P.S. I find it amusing that Sonos popped up an ad for free shipping while I’m typing this f
The new Sonos App is absolute rubbish. I have never felt compelled to give “feedback” but it is so poor as to be utterly useless. There are large delays in doing things. It often won’t let me access anything. Repeatedly, I have given up and sought an alternative. In terms of usability it is a complete waste of time - my time!!!!!! I have almost stopped using it altogether and now listen to my choices using a bluetooth boombox - it may not provide good sound but it’s a darn site more reliable! If Sonos don’t get this sorted imminently then I will take a lump hammer to my speakers and get something that actually works! Have you forgotten who your customers actually are!!!!!!!!!!! Smart speakers are no use with a dumb app!!!
Cos that's all i ever see when navigating the new (cr)app.Amazon Music is borderline unusable as it never connects or displays my music library and on the rare occasion I can get it to play it then skips tracks in the album selected. This isn't exclusive to the new app as occurs on the desktop app which I am dreading the loss of as seems the most reliable way of controlling music at current timeOpening the app it is 50/50 that it will display my system and I regularly have to close it down and try again.Loss of widget is a real pain as just makes navigation several steps longer.I used to enjoy listening to my music, but now I just feel frustrated trying to get something to play and really find it hard to believe none of these issues were identified through beta testing.Sort it out Sonos!
Why do you keep releasing apps that are worse than the one before?Clunky and just awful - leave them alone.I have spent a fortune on your products - I don’t care about your headphones - I want my sound system to work.Today can’t get my move to connect with my network.Should have gone to Apple.
Moderator Note - Translation by Google:Since the new app nothing works anymore! Updating the system doesn't work, finding content services doesn't work! It's really not fun when you have a device that doesn't work the way it's supposed to! Would you have at least left the old app version, but no! How long do we have to wait until everything goes back to how it was before?
It’s time to move to Bose
Fire the Sonos app dev team and CTO now! Forcing all using to update to a non-functional application update is the most amature move the Sonos team could have made!My $10k+ whole home system is now a brick. The app doesn't work on iPhone or on Android. "something went wrong" is the pop up every time I click anything. Absolutely nothing works 🤬!101 of app updates is to never force an update until all the bugs have been worked out. This application role out is a total embarrassment to the sonos brand. Business owners who count on having a reliable sonos sounds system are probably suffering big time right now. I am seeing hundreds of sonos customers complaining on all forums right now. It's been 2 weeks and this system is still non functional and no updates have been published. GET IT TOGETHER SONOS!
Not much of a question but comment. You guys really dropped the ball on this app, it’s terrible. I use Sonos because of how easy it was, now I wanna rip it out of my house and gym. The music is a huge part of my work (I own a gym), I can not believe how terrible this is, it is not only frustrating, it is making it hard to train people and wondering when the music is gonna shut off or skip. Stop making stupid changes, stop trying to make things better when it is fine, this is terrible, put it back to where it is user friendly and easy!
I am a Sonos dealer with 100’s of installations active in my local community. The recent update and lack of functionality of various basic features has been difficult to explain to my clients and put my firm in an awkward position going forward. I have not only sold and recommended the sonos platform for the last 15 years, I have also personally used it in my home. I now am considering other options for new installations and feel some hesitation to continue recommending your product. My questions are-1: why can’t we go back to the old app?2: volume slider does not respond well, when will this be fixed?3: my clients are experiencing Spotify playlist issues, the playlists randomly stop and return the the first song in Spotify. Is this a widely known issue and if so, when will it be resolved?4: how do I transfer system ownership to a new client after setting up a system?5: Digital out for Sonos Port - We have Sonos installations out in the field where we are using the digital output from
No integration with my Sonos system !!!!!!!We’ve all been waiting for headphones we can add to our Sonos systems like any other Sonos speaker product. These new Ace headphones are just fancy bluetooth headphones - no better than Sony or Bose.First the app upgrade disaster and now headphones that won’t work as part of an existing Sonos system.Ridiculous! It’s a “no purchase” from me!
So it has been about two days since the launch of the new Sonos app. Judging by the number of negative posts on this community forum and on the Sonos subreddit, I think it is pretty safe to say that the app launch has been a pretty massive failure. This is a very critical moment for Sonos. The Sonos app is the core of their ecosystem. I can imagine tensions are running high at the Sonos headquarters as they try to figure out what went wrong and how they need to respond. A moment like this can sometimes be the beginning of the end for a company and Sonos knows this.Consumer trust is the most important thing a company needs to remain successful and to grow. Sonos dropped the ball with the new app and has lost the trust of many new and loyal customers. And the timing cannot be any worse with the upcoming release of their new headphones. So what does Sonos need to do next? What kind of response would ease your anger and frustrations? How much time are you willing to give Sonos to bring back
I noticed this morning that Sonos had released a new update to the app but decided I would read through the release notes prior to installing since the last update burned us all. What I found truly amusing was that the provided this note when addressing local library connectivity - Improved local library connectivityAre we to imply that they “fixed” what they broke? Or are they simply trying to play semantics and not admit they screwed up?
Why the hell have you done such a poor job? It may looks nicer but definitely doesn’t work as well. I have latest OS updates and it takes much longer to recognise my three Sonos. So bloody annoying, and I was planning to expand with even more Sonos!! Get a proper fix soon this drives me nuts!
Man! I used to absolutely love my Sonos system. I have multiple devices era 300, two arc’s, an amp, bunch of gen 2 play 5s. I loved being able to wake up in the morning to a playlist, a great way to start my day. I didn’t even need to look at the clock, I knew what time it was by the song. I could save and edit my playlists. It was a fracking digital jukebox, what I dreamed of as a kid. NOW? I have phantom alarms. My playlist alarm starts at regular time, then four minutes later another alarm a Sonos chime goes off. Then on the weekends two alarms go off one at 07:20 and one at 08:20. I can’t control these alarms. It is ridiculous. I am glad that Sonos has added back being able to add to queue and end of queue but the alarm is a fracking nightmare. Can’t believe this was not a top priority. I used to love my Sonos system, I recommended Sonos to any music lover I met. Heck! I even bought three speakers for my ninety yo mother! NOW? I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. Does anyone else
Does anyone else wanna throw all there Sonos stuff in the trash because the new app sucks so bad????? I’m about to!!!
I gave up on the new Sonos app yesterday and purchased the app called Sonophone. It seems to have stability and functionality that Sonos has jettisoned. Okay to use this app? What are the downsides? Can we ask Sonos to reimburse us for the app purchase price?
Hello all,I wanted to share my experiences after not being able to use my Sonos products for over a month after this horrible update. I believe my problems started after the last Sonos System Update, not necessarily the app (which is horrible). But after spending countless hours and almost throwing in the towel on the whole Sonos product line I’ve invested heavily into over the last several years, I finally have a stable system again, although I still hate the new app. Here is my setup:> Playbase with sub and 2 play 1’s for surround. Playbase is wired Ethernet> 3 Connect Amps for daily music streaming, all wired Ethernet> Beam with 2 Play One SL’s for surround, all wireless> 1 standalone One, wirelessAll devices sit behind a UDM ProStarting around last summer, I started to have issues with the Connect Amps sometimes cutting out for a few seconds towards the end of the track. After a lot of research and troubleshooting, turns out it is an S2 software update causing memory
What is going on with Sonos just now!!! Based on this conversation I think I know more about the products than their Tech Support. Are the phone lines better if you can get through and do most problems get resolved?? Any assistance would be appreciated
App sucks, we have 3 roam 2 s and we can't get them to play the same music, each one is different!
I have 20 years of professional networking and software experience- so spare me the “networking issues” bull. You owe it to your customers to not make such a terrible piece of garbage. I spent $500+ on different speakers 3 Fathers Days ago. We have tried numerous times, even upgraded our internet service. None of it works without headache and frustration. It’s not you, it’s not your network’s to it’s Sonos! Next time- I’m spending 1/3 of the price on an Amazon Bluetooth speaker that I could replace 5 times and still not spend what I spent on the Sonos. Hint to the product team (if anyone actually reads these)…. Your customers DONT WANT A Fristrating product or app. They want simple and easy. So just take your dumb non working app and scrap it and just create Bluetooth connectivity only. It will probably save your company thousands of hours on support calls. Regretting this purchase more than anything I’ve bought in 15 years.
