I am still running my system on Gold S2 and the first iteration of the new black app.  It is using Sonosnet using a Boost. The PC app has not been updated. I have a beam with Play 1 surrounds and a sub. Also a set of Play 1s and a set of Sonos Ones.

I have bought a new NAS server as I could not get SMBv2 to work on my Old Buffalo server. It just would not index properly on v2. v1 was ok.  It was a known problem which support was unable to resolve for a number of years. The new Synology server is now working OK with the music library option. A expense I would rather not have made.

What I need to know is will this system work with all the old functions available I.e. Sonos, Boost etc. if not when will be likely to work. I don’t want to upgrade the app and find I have problems. I need to have the system working with the Beam and the Tv. Also the music library needs to work fully.

Any help will be appreciated.

I am currently holding back on any updates and still using the S2 Gold controller software. My primary concern is local library access and queue management.

I believe that issues using a Boost may have been addressed, but I read in the last day or two that people trying to add players such as the Play 1 are unable to add them because they don't have PINs.

Anyway the following link gives some details of the roadmap to restoring the app to it's previous capabilities: https://support.sonos.com/en-us/article/the-new-sonos-app-and-future-feature-updates

Good luck.

That’s my current thinking. Sonos need to become more forthcoming on what has been fixed or is still outstanding. I can find no mention of Sonos Boost and Sonos net in their articles.

My beam needs to work with the surrounds and sub. I use the TV every day.

This article includes a list of planned "improvements" to the Controller app:

https://www.techradar.com/audio/sonos-has-updated-its-ios-and-android-app-again-but-some-key-features-are-still-missing

This list comes from the official Sonos statement which outlines the fixes still to come here:

I think for those of us with working systems, not yet updated, patience is the name of the game.

You can also find the things that have been ‘fixed’ in the release notes here.
