Hi All, The Sonos Arc is not "opening" the HDMI ARC port on my TV properly and I need to do it manually each time. In other words, when I turn the TV on via the Apple TV (or TV directly), I manually need to press “input” on the TV remote and click on the HDMI arc port (and see the Sonos splash screen) before the sound starts to come through the Arc instead of the TV speakers. This is really annoying and I previously had the Beam which didn’t have this issue, so it definitely isn’t the TV. My TV is a 2016 LG 4K OLED (OLED55B6T-T)   Sonos Product management, could you please add this to your list of things to fix?   Regards, James    

How much space do you need to leave off the end of the arc.  Considering having it built in a bit to a wall.  Thanks. 

We have a bar and two speakers. My husband is fairly deaf. I'd like to turn up the two rear speakers so he can hear properly (they are either side of his chair) without making the bar volume higher as currently it's too loud for the rest of the family. Is there a way to set this up please?

Hello. I have a home theater set up with Playbar, two Play:1 surrounds and a sub. Suddenly today, my TV does not appear to be outputting any sound to my home theater. I’ve done all the usual checks (optical cable/red light; TV sound settings; Dolby and not Dolby Plus; etc.).  Not that this matters, but I’ve checked my TiVo, Apple TV, and the TV directly to see if any sound passes through and it does not. All boxes are connected via HDMI to my TV; the TV is supposed to pass sound through the optical cable.  That everything was working fine for two years and then suddenly stops working is very strange. I’m not sure what worse I can do to fix this. Please help. I have a SONY Bravia 75” 4K OLED TV if that helps.    Diagnostic: 1619880235.   thanks! Jay

So I have the ATV 4K (using the Infuse Pro app), LG C9 connected via ARC port (enabled eARC) with the Sonos Arc + HT (Sub Gen2 + OneSL) I have a source file playing with Dolby TrueHD 7.1 track but I am only receiving DD 5.1 on the Sonos system as verified by On the App.  Is this normal ? Shouldn’t I be or supposedly be getting Atmos sound on the Arc Home Theatre?    Netflix, Disney+, and Dolby Atmos test files (playing from Infuse Pro App) are working fine with Atmos though. 

I’m interested in getting an Arc. I’d also be getting a new TV, and so can make sure it has the right features. Even so, some discussions about surround sound support give me pause. There doesn’t seem to be one definitive explanation for all this, so here’s my best attempt, as someone who hasn’t typically paid much attention to different surround sound formats, and who is new to Sonos products. Please let me know if I’m understanding correctly, and if there’s anything I’ve gotten wrong. In a traditional HDMI-centered setup, various devices send digital AV signals to a receiver, which decodes the audio to analog for its speakers, and passes on the video to a TV. Each device has its own preferred digital audio output format; the receiver supports most every kind of signal—various Dolby formats, DTS formats, and raw PCM. The Sonos Arc uses a different model: all digital audio signals come from the TV via its ARC HDMI output. Other devices send their signals to the TV. Three limitations:

Word of warning for anyone looking at the Beam to start a 5.1 surround sound system, it will NOT work ideally for any streaming box except the Apple TV. I would suggest really doing your research and/or staying away from the Beam if you want a home theater solution. The Beam does not support Dolby Digital Plus (DD+) and only supports PCM (poor quality) or Dolby Digital. Why does that matter? DD+ is the current standard. Dolby (the only thing Sonos support) sounds good but is hardly used anymore by anything halfway modern. PCM is the audio equivilent to standard definition TV. DD+ is the de facto standard for streaming boxes and services. Hulu, Netflix, HBO and I want to say Plex support this standard and only this standard. Those services do not use Dolby Digital. To get Dolby Digital, that means the stream must be downconverted (transcoded) on the fly by either your streaming device or your TV before reaching the Beam. Hi Have connected SONOS AMP to LG 9C TV using brand new High speed HDMI cable via eARC port in TV. Works fine : SONOS AMP receive TV sound through HDMI eARC and plays it in loudspeakers and in other SONOS speakers in my home. During the day I use same AMP to play streamed radio or music - also in the entire home - this also works fine. When it’s time for watching TV I stop the streamed radio/music. Then I turn on the TV using the TV remote and get NO SOUND :-( neither from TV nor from SONOS AMP. The SONOS AMP does’nt seem to react to the eARC signal but the TV knows that AMP is there since it has switched off its internal speakers. To make it work again I need to unplug the HDMI cable (then TV switches sound to internal speakers to indicate there is no HDMI connected) and then I must reconnect the HDMI cable which causes the SONOS AMP to play sound from the TV (and the TV mutes its internal speakers). And the all is as it should be including TV sound in all SONOS speakers. But

Is anyone using the Arc with a Benq W1070 projector? It has 2 HDMI connections (with no ARC support that I know of) and an old 3.5 mm connector. Are the benefits of the Arc lost with this projector? If not, what is the best way to connect? Thanks.

I have a first Gen setup with Playbar, Sub Gen 1, and 2x Play 1's Gen 1. Also a Bridge. If i purchased a Boost and the new Sonos Arc. Can i just swap out the Playbar and use the new Arc with my Sub and Play 1's     

So I plan on getting an Arc along with my ARC compatible TV.  One of my sources is an xbox one s.  I’ve been trying to research a bit to see how this will all work, but getting a lot of vague answers, even from xbox support site.  Yes, xbox one s (and x) support dolby atmos, but there doesn’t seem to be much detail beyond that.  Here are the questions I have. When watching a blue-ray in TrueHD- Atmos, will the xbox send TrueHD or DD+ to the TV? I saw a reddit user claim that it was DD+, but this was a few years back. Could have been wrong or changed since then. When playing a game with  Atmos, will the xbox send TrueHD or DD+ to the TV? I have seen nothing about the specific code, only the Atmos format.  It appears that some game titles will only do Atmos on the Xbox One X, not S.  I would guess that games are all in DD+, but don’t know why some games will only work on X.  Could it be because X can do True HD while S cannot? When streaming video content, will the xbox send TrueHD or DD

I currently run my Play:3s as surrounds for my Playbar & Sub. Is there any advantage in running Play:3s for rear surrounds vs Play:1 in this configuration?  The sub takes over low frequency duty from the Playbar.  Is the low end pulled out of the rears, as well?  If so, there might be no advantage in running 3s and they might serve better in a stand-alone mission elsewhere in the house. Meaning, they might be overkill for surround duty in this config. Thoughts? -JR

Got a gen 3 sub for use with the arc. Sub would not output sound after connecting via WiFi. Arc used an Ethernet cable. To try and fix the issue,  I tried turning the arc off and back on in order to set it up via WiFi. The arc turned back on but keeps blinking white light. The app can not detect the arc. i now have a non working arc and a sub that I could not get sound out from . Any ideas ?

Hello everyone. Since getting the ARC, I keep having issues with the ARC disconnecting from any audio sources. I have a LG B9 TV with the latest firmware installed. There were supposedly fixes for eARC on this release. Randomly no matter what the source, the ARC HDMI port will show its disconnected. This causes the audio to kick over to the TV, then about 5 seconds it shows the HDMI port has been plugged back in and switches back to the ARC.  Dolby Atmos does work from Netflix, Amazon Xbox1X etc, and it seems like when it is on Atmos it dosent do it at all. Its appears to be only with standard non atmos audio.    I have tried the following:   Swapped HDMI cables from the ARC to the TV. There is currently a HDMI 2.1 cable plugged in, replacing the stock cable that came with it. To be clear it did it on both the stock cable and the new 2.1. Changed audio settings on the HDMI port from the TV. There are only two options per HDMI port. Bitstream and PCM. I have changed the settings f

I recently puchased the Sonos arc, along with gen3 sub and a pair of onesl as surronds. My initial idea was a use a signal box to split the video/audio signal from my apple tv 4k to a benq 4k projector and sonos arc. However, I unfortunately recieved a defective unit from benq, and thus I wanted to buy a tv instead. I know that OLED Tvs are probably best in terms of contast ratio, but I will be moving several times within the next few years, and I really don’t want to be moving those fragile thin screens around. As a result I looked at high end qled and led tvs such as sony x950h and samsung q90t. However, upon reading several threads from this community, I saw that people were having troubles getting their apple tv 4k working properly with sonos arc. This thread for example. It seemed to me that one possible explaination is that sonos arc does not support LPCM. I’m not able to connect my new Sonos Arc with the S2 app.   Details of my setup: I have 2x One SLs setup as a stereo pair All devices connected by WiFi My router is a BT Hub 6A (BT Smart Hub 6) No WiFi Extenders Using iPhone XS Max for controller My Arc is detected, I press the sync button and it just fails to connect. Things I’ve tried already: Connecting directly to router via Ethernet Factory Reset Reinstall S2 app on iPhone  Is there anything else I should try? Many thanks,   Adam

I’m getting a hard time trying to keep Sonos Arc connected to Sony Tv. Most of the time the Sonos Arc is displayed on the connected devices list as “Audio System”.  After restarting TV, turning off Bravia Sync (removing registered devices) several times or factory testing Sonos Arc I got to see on the Bravia Sync device list “Sonos Arc”. Then the setup completes and I can use the Sonos Arc. If I turn off the tv and try to watch tv later, the Sonos ARC doesn’t work again. I need to disconnect AppleTV 4K, ps4 and cable STB in order to make it work again.   any ideas?   thanks for your help

Many Sonos Arc owners are new to Dolby Atmos and are experiencing this immersive audio in their homes for the first time. Going by your personal experience, which Dolby Atmos films or TV shows have sounded the best through your Sonos Arc? It can be from a Blu-ray, UHD 4K Blu-ray, or a streaming app. A few that I have read about, but haven’t personally experienced yet (my Arc is on backorder) are: Blade Runner 2049 (Blu-ray & UHD 4K) Gravity (Diamond Luxe Edition Blu-ray) Mad Max: Fury Road (Blu-ray, UHD 4K) What are some of your favorites?

Hi I don't know if its just me that finds this, but I find the volume control on the ARC a little odd. Watching movies/TV via eARC. I find that the volume can jump to quite loud with a few clicks of the volume up, and vice versa if I press volume down it can get very low with just a few presses. It doesn't seem to adjust the volume in steady incremental steps to me. Anyone else find this?   To add these adjustments are all at relatively low volume on the scale itself, not needed to go past the quarter mark on the bar due to how loud it can suddenly get.   I also have loudness off.  

Hi, I just purchased the Sony Bravia XBR-65X850D and hooked it up to my exisiting 5.1 Sonos Surround sound that I was using with my previous TV. I have two play 3s I'm using as the the rears, the playbar for my fronts and center, and the sonos sub. But I'm getting sound drop outs. It doesn't matter if I'm watching live, on demand, or a recorded show on my DVR- the sound will just cutout for a second or two and keep doing that intermittently throughout the show. It may happen five or six times during the duration of an hour long show. It's not too too bad but it does get kind of annoying. And it didn't do this on my last TV. Anyway to fix this? Thanks, G

Hi All, would anyone be able to confirm what TV’s are compatible with the Arc based on the surround sound supported? Most smart/TVs indicate Dolby Digital Plus under “surround sound supported” specifications; however I’m not sure if that is compatible with the arc Dolby atmos specifically . Appreciate your help!

Hi all, I am having numerous issues with my Sonos Arc and was hoping someone could help me out. First involves only getting Atmos from certain sources and not others. I can get Atmos from Netflix as indicated in the program info on screen and on the Sonos phone app. Cannot get Atmos from Amazon Prime video or Disney+. The audio maxes out at 5.1. My Disney+ settings are at the highest quality A/V level. I don’t know of any other app settings to change for either Amazon Prime video or Disney+ that might affect this. Is this happening because I am using the native TV streaming apps? The Sony X950G runs Android OS. Thanks in advance!

Hi all, just got my Sonos Arc and connect it with my Sony TV(55X80H 2020) but I got this problem where my power button on the remote just doesn’t work but the other command (volume, channel, etc.) is all working. From my seating position the Arc is blocking the TV IR receiver but since Arc has the IR Receiver (and IR repeater mode) I thought it supposed to work.    so for me to turn off the TV, I have use the remote really high up so the IR receiver on the TV can see the remote. Tried to change settings on the app but still no progress. Is it something with the software? 

I realize this is a minor problem, but my LG C9 65” is on a table in my family room and my new Sonos Arc sits right in front of it. The LG sits pretty low so that the Arc cuts off the bottom of the picture. I assume others have this problem also and wondered if you’ve found a workaround. My thought was to put something under the LG’s stand to raise it 4-6 inches but am having trouble thinking of something that doesn’t make it look homemade.  Any ideas besides just live with it? I gifted a Sonos Beam to my brother who owns a 2013 Samsung TV Model # UN32EH4003F   What type of connection wire or adapter  does he need to successfully connect the Beam to that model Samsung TV?   He's been unsuccessful trying a few different adapters.   Thanks for any assistance!
