Controllers and Music services

This issue still exists.Anyone else? Or proposed solutions? 

I have multiple rooms ( & a hall ) each with 4 speakers ( & subs ), I have fully embraced Sonos throughout our home, yet I am constantly frustrated with having to group 2 stereo pairs so I can play in a room. It constantly fails, all I want is for them to remain fully paired and appear as one set, neither one volume so I don’t have to keep wondering why the sound isn’t right and then to findbrhat I’m only playing out of 2 of 4 speakers. I could have done this in my old none Sonos based house with no problems.inreally want Sonos to work and. This feels like a minor software issue, please make it possible or tell me how to if it’s already possible.

Hi.  I updated my Sonos desktop app from version 16.6 to 16.7 yesterday and then tried to update my local music library since I had added some new songs but now I get this error message:This message doesn’t make sense because my music files haven’t moved and I was able to index my library under version 16.6 a few days ago without any problems.  I tried updating my content on the mobile app too; I didn’t get an error message but the new songs were not added.Any ideas or do I just need to wait until the next update for this new bug to be fixed?  (Troubleshooting this app after each update is really getting tiresome.)Thanks.

Hi Sonos Community, I am trying to connect a USB hard drive to my router which I have loaded with songs from my computer and play through Sonos using the app. Some time ago this worked fine by the following: Manage - Music Library Settings, using a path as - //192.(IP Address...)/Name of Drive but this errors out when I progress further. It seems to be since upgrading to Windows 11 or possibly because the Sonos app has changed? I have also read that SMB security settings need to be set back to v1, which I believe I have done.Could anyone tell me if they have successfully enabled connecting a hard drive to their router on their Sonos set up and how they have achieved this, and if I need to correct the path or settings to make this work?

I'm running the latest SONOS app and have Amazon Music connected.  It will search and play music without issue, but it will not allow me to access any Podcasts.  Is there a fix or workaround?  I'm also a weirdo and not in the apple ecosystem, still rocking my andtoid based Samsung S21 Ultra.TIA,Brian

I just bought an Era 100 Sonos and I set it up and I am using Spotify on it but I really want to listen to Radio 4 and BBC Sounds. The instructions are to open the Sonos app - fine and go to Settings fine and then go to Services and Voice - not find because my app doesn’t have this. I searched through all the radio channels and searched for BBC Sounds and it says it has nothing. I just don’t know what I need to do. 

Realizing the inevitable (phasing out the desktop app and going to a web-based controller), I’m starting, grudgingly, to use my browser to connect with my systems.I’m not seeing any ability to adjust the EQ on my speakers through the web-based controller?  Am I wrong and, if so, where can I do that?   If I’m not wrong, I hope this feature is added asap.

I'm still experiencing the terrible lag on basic play controls, volume and mute which make the listening experience rather traumatic rather than pleasurable as it use to be - just wondering whether anyone, anywhere, any how had discovered a reliable fix/ solution??Note for Sonos - basic play functions like volume, track selection, skip forward, skip back have to work instantaneously it is a basic user experience expectation - if it is true from what I read that even basic control functions go to the cloud with the added latency and lag for using the system I paid you alot of money for to play music reliably in my own home then you really need to rethink that engineering decision - simply unacceptable! (you might also think about making a clear and unambiguous statement about that, as the speculation and lack of trust is hurting you badly)

I am running approximately 14 devices using iPhones, iPads and two separate Mac computers.   Everything iOS works fine but suddenly both controllers on OSX will not recognize the system.  I have deleted a reinstalled the OSX apps, reset Modem and Wifi Routers.  I have checked the firewall settings and there have been no changes to the system, just stopped working and no help. I’ve been on the help line for 30 minutes with someone who seems to know less than me and I’ve been a user for 15 years.  All the iOS devices continue to work, really frustrating that I can select and run the system from Spotify better than using the Sonos app.   Roon endpoints will be my next stop.  Anyone with something other than start over?

Why did Sonos need to change the view of what is playing?  After having a nice big view of what is playing it’s now a popup box that a ¼ the size of the screen…why?  Why make it smaller?  It so small that it’s impossible to slide the progress bar, as your finger blocks the view. Once again, we get an update that’s a downgrade in what we had before. Why do they keep trying to fix something that’s NOT broken? It’s as if you feel if we need to constantly have things changed, why? The old saying of it’s not broken, don’t fix it.  

When I select a Spotify song in the Sonos app and checkmark all or a subset of the Sonos speakers on my wireless LAN, the speakers will randomly mute and unmute before gradually settling into the specified song and configuration. This process can require almost a minute, presumably while the network services finish negotiating?Across my townhome I have seven (7) Sonos Five speakers, plus a small theater with an arc ultra, sub mini, and two Era 300s.I have a relatively high-end wireless router (a Nighthawk with 40-50 device capacity).I’d like to be able to select a song, check a subset of the speakers, and have the music reliably begin on the target devices without latency.   

Hi all, I have an issue with error 913. I run S1 and S2  Windows 10 and android apps. S1 can add library from NAS drive (Dlink DNS323, Old but still kicking), but S2, comes up with error 913?Looked things up, but still confuddled!Cheers for advice.

a few updates ago, I noticed that when I click on certain favorites they play but show no content and there is no FFW RW, or scrub bar. I am seeing this with Apple Music and YouTube Music. If I press and hold and click play now, I get the meta data and transport controls. Anyway to fix this?

Im using Sonos app (v 80.16.33 ie the most recent version iOS released 2 weeks ago as of agent 15, 2025). When attempting to use the horizontal sliders for Volume Control of speakers individually or as a room, I find it extremely difficult to adjust with my finger the volume in small increments eg (+/-1 increments) - especially attempting to reduce the volume.I happen to have a surround setup with Sonos arc, and controlling the surround setup’s volume settings in the surround settings → “Surround Volume” for “TV” and “Music”, there are much appreciated “-“ and “+” buttons to the left and the right of the finger slider volume control. I suggest and kindly request that the Sonos app (at least for iOS) throughout the app adds the “-“ and “+” to the left and right of the end of all all the volume sliders in the app (ie for all speakers playing music) - to make it easier to adjust playing volume in small increments.

Hello. Since 10 days all my Sonos speakers can’t play Spotify and stream Spotify via Airplay. I have been in contact with Sonos support 5 times and yesterday they said that there has been a lot of users with the same problem. I have also been in contact with Spotify and they were not aware of the issue? I have updated all devises, re-installed Spotify and Sonos and done everything the supports have asked me to do. The only thing which is working is Sonos Radio and other music services but not Spotify.I told Sonos support to put this as an issue so other users could be aware of this enoying issue. But not seen anything posted. I guess they prefer of spending hours of support of people like me contacting them instead...

With setup Era 300 + Ultra Arc have you notice a significant difference (musically speaking) between spotify and apple/amazon music Apple/Amazon have HD music. In the other hand, not spotify. Although I enjoy the music discovery from Spotify, I wander if it is time to switch to a music provider that has HD music.  Knowing the lossless quality is better, can we  actually ear a difference from the compression format offered from Spotify? Thank you in advance 

I have a turntable connected to my Era 1 with the line in cable, but as soon as the record stops and I change sides the app loses all the rooms, they are greyed out, I have to close the app and wait around 2/3 minutes for them to re-appear, it only does this on the ERA with a turntable, its so frustrating as you lose part of the first track, the ERA 1 is grouped with an Arc, sub and two play ones 

Hi. The News Agents has disappeared from Sonos and News Agents US has never been able to play. any fix for this does anyone know? Thanks

The Sirius Xtra channels (not the live DJ’d channels, but the shuffled themed channels) seem to sometimes (but not always) skip to the next song prematurely, like after 3 minutes into the song, so before the song ends. This doesn’t happen when I stream from the Sirius app, only when I’ve started playing the Xtra channel from the Sonos app. I’ve confirmed this behavior with other Sonos users I know. Does anyone have a solution?

Hello,I noticed what appears to be a defect when re-authorizing an account. Setup:Sonos with 2x Apple Music accounts (nicknamed A and B in Sonos)Apple Music account A expires credentials or token or somethingController prompts to reauthorize Apple Music account APrimary user is signed into Sonos App and Apple Music account BPrimary presses prompt to re-authExpect-- ideally a prompt to sign into Apple Music under the account name saved in nickname A.Actual-- Nickname A is now linked to Apple Music account B. Browsing either nickname shows the same content, i.e. Apple Music account B’s content.This error is compounded by the fact that it takes two sign-ins (which basically means people present) to add an Apple Music account.Thanks for reading,Gabe

Sonos,  When are you going to fix the terrible App and it’s even worse response time? This has been ongoing for over a year. The system is NOT responsive to the commands it is given. And yes, I’ve updated everything, I’ve swapped routers, I’ve been on the phone with a technician for hours trying to troubleshoot the issues. User forums are rife with the same complaints. I have stopped recommending Sonos products because of this issue. 

Over the years this topic keeps being closed down, but Sonos never fixes it.  I do not experience connection lost issues with any other music streaming service and I never have this issue directly streaming Spotify. So the problem without doubt is Sonos. it gets harder and harder to keep with your brand and shoddy software. Please fix this!

While hunting down a problem with Music Library files not being recognized by some of my components (after installing a new Asus WiFi router) I found folders on the music library hard drive with names like:FTOY07~G_OLYYS~F_WTT9Q~PThis is shown in Finder on macOS when I browse the drive. If I insert the drive directly to a Mac, these folder names are not shown. Instead I find that they have unusual characters and quotes. Possibly also long file names.Names like:[RI028] "Mu"'Ignacio'Fax|Nmlk If I index the Music Library with only ‘old’ Sonos components (like Connect) active there is no problem on these components.If I index the Music Library with only ‘new’ Sonos components (like Play1 & 3 and Sound Bar) active there is no problem with these components.However when I mix ‘new’ and ‘old’, one of the categories will fail to find these folders when I try

I share a SSD HD on my WiFi using USB to Asus AX WiFi router. I have my Sonos Music Library on that disk.I used to have an Airport Extreme router, using this disk. With Asus some players does not find the Music Library, actually they don’t even find the HD.Since I have older components I use S1. I’ve read that it might have to do with Samba version. Could that be the case when some components still can find the Music Library and play the files?Not sure if the Asus router lets me change Samba version.Also, which would be the recommended file system on the shared disk for Sonos compability?
