I have just been testing the edit playlist feature on android v 80.21.3 os v 85.0.64200.

I started with a playlist playing in the queue and then as I was listening to each track I had the edit playlist function open and started deleting tracks from the playlist that I no longer wanted (NOT from the queue itself).

After about 10 minutes of editing I was astonished as some of the entries I had deleted reappeared in the playlist right in front of my eyes without me touching anything.

I then reviewed the playlist and found some of the tracks I deleted earlier in the session had correctly been removed whilst others had returned BUT worse still was that tracks I definitely didn't delete have been removed from the playlist. ( I noticed this as it was a track I hadn't even got to in the playlist).

So not only had I wasted 10 minutes of edits I have ended up with random tracks missing. I now have to restore the playlist and start again.

WHAT IS GOING ON?

This would have been easy to miss if I hadn't been focused on what I was doing. How many people would miss the odd track going astray?

Hi @Editor

I’m sorry to hear that you’re having issues with Sonos playlists.

I gave this a test on my system, deleting some tracks from the playlist while it was in the queue then tapping Done, but none of the deleted tracks have returned to the playlist and my other tracks remain intact. I also tried keeping the playlist screen open after deleting a few tracks, but the playlist still kept my changes.

I haven’t seen anyone else mention this issue and there’s nothing raised on our end that matches your issue, so if this happens again, I recommend submitting a diagnostics as soon as you notice and then contact our support team to troubleshoot this with them.

I have been able to recreate this problem

the playlist has 200 entries (whether that makes any difference or not I’m not sure)

I worked through the list playing each track from the queue whilst editing the playlist in parallel.

after deleting approx 10 tracks from first 50 entries I stopped , saved the playlist by hitting done and reloaded the playlist

Deletions 1 to 7 were deleted ok

Deletions 8, 9 and 10 had returned

at least one track that I DID NOT delete had been removed.

you will appreciate that checking the status of all 200+ would be difficult and time consuming.

the reason I noticed the missing track is because it’s a particular favourite of mine and I am certain I did not delete it.

whats odd is that it’s the SAME missing track as happened in my first test above, although that may not be unexpected as it’s the same 10 tracks that I have been deleting from the playlist each time and it’s the track immediately after deletion numbers 8, 9 and 10 that’s gone missing whilst those tracks have come back.

I am really not surprised that others have not reported this behavior, unless you pay close attention to every step AND then go back to check what’s happened you would easily miss this bug.
