Controllers and Music services

Is there a way to display the name we gave to a Service in the ‘Select a Music Source’ section?I have 2 Spotify accounts linked in my Sonos Controllers, but I never know which one to select. It would be nice if next to the service type, you could have the option to display the name you provided as well.This is an example on the Mac controller, but it is the same for iiPhone app 

It drives me mad when so-called easy to use products like Sonos speakers that are advertised as a better balance for TV and the spoken word and using with music apps! So firstly, TV volume control over music v voice. One of the main reasons I purchased Sonos was because of adverts saying you can do better! Demonstrating volume control over music and spoken words, well after 3yrs and 2 different high-end TVs I have not heard any evidence of this control or it working, in any way shape or form. The over all quality is good, but the app is not easy or obvious to use or control and appears to be more limited than you might expect.Apps, why these cannot be linked to work with all voice controls is beyond annoying! I have spent the last 2hrs trying to make things work, using online help, but nothing works! It is so frustrating! WHY OH WHY would you make something this hard to use? You should be able to add apps, open apps and play from the selected app what you need. But you download the app

I am unable to add any music services.  Trying to add Spotify.  but I tested many at random that show up in the list generated in my sonos player under the tab “Add Music Service”. NONE of them work.  I have checked for system updates.  I’m up to date.I previously added Pandora and that worked fine.  Again, it’s ALL services.  I click on the service and nothing happens. I’m running Sonos as usual out of my  HP Laptop from a “mini controller”.   I am pretty sure I bought my equipment as the first generation.  I was an early adopter. But I doubt this matters since it’s a software/app issue it seems. 

Since the 15.2 App update, selecting a radio station is erratic.  Switching between stations sometimes shows the new station on screen, but doesn’t change the actual stream.  Sometimes switching puts up the “About this station” screen, forcing another tap to start.  Sometimes switching gives a surprise station.  Alarms don’t connect to desired stations, only to what was playing the night before, or the annoying Sonos bongs.  This happens with both Sonos Radio and iTunes stations, with four different iOS devices, all up to date in software.  I have tried deleting the app, resetting stations, etc.  Am I the only one having problems like this?

I suffered the fiasco a couple of years back with my WD NAS drive and it being bricked. In the end, I decided to replace it and I have them another chance - with a My Cloud Home (surely they will be trying extra hard not to screw up again!). It arrived last Saturday and I spent Sunday loading my music onto it. Added the My Cloud app in Sonos and it worked fine for 1 day. Then it stopped working. After a lot of time spent trying to fix it, I went online to see if it was just me. Nope - they have managed to mess the new system up completely too (and a lot of people are very angry). Here is the service status alert on their website:02 Apr 2023OUTAGEWestern Digital is currently experiencing a service outage impacting the following products: My Cloud, My Cloud Home, My Cloud Home Duo, My Cloud OS5, SanDisk ibi, SanDisk Ixpand Wireless Charger.We are working to restore service. Hi allsorry for the question but I am e new owner of ERA 300, first product that i bought!Is it possible open the Amazon Music Unlimited APP and listen for example the category Spazial Audio?Because I am not able to do it.Or is it necessary open “always” the SONOS APP to listen? In the SONOS APP I don’t have (we don’t have) for example the same category (Spatiual audio)….we need to search by Artist/Album…correct?

Since the 15.2.1 update my system looses the date and time whenever the power goes out even briefly (so the wifi router resets), with the result that alarms do not function. (Living in Maine, such power flickers are frequent) The first time it happened support suggested deleting and reinstalling the app on my phone, which worked (XR running 16.3.1). The second time it happened simply restarting the app fixed it. The third time, nothing helps: restarting, resetting, reinstalling in both my phone and iPad. Trying to check for updates results in a 1101 error. Any advice appreciated!

This is a new problem this year.  I listen to White Sox games on Chicago radio station ESPN AM 1000:  Streaming, Wifi, Sonos speakers, I guess it's "Tune In" radio because that's always mentioned at the start of any transmission.  I live in Palos Height, IL which is a suburb of Chicago.  I'm hearing the game without problems when suddenly a man's voice says something about White Sox games being blacked out in some areas due to contractual obligations.  Then this recording keeps repeating until I tap the Sonos speaker off and then on again.  Then I'm back to getting the game until the next interruption.  I think these interruptions occur during what would normally be commercial breaks.  I listen to Cubs games on a different radio station, but via the same means otherwise, and this never happens during those games.  Looking for some resolution to this problem!

Is anyone else noticing a lot of skipping in the middle of a song with this newest Sonos app update? My internet is well over 500mbps and all of my speakers appear to have a strong connection.  I’m mainly using Spotify premium to stream on over 7 speakers, but with this newest app update (15.2.1) the skipping is becoming more consistent.

After the most recent controller (Mac) desktop upgrade, I have lost all of my album artwork.  This is also reflected on the IOS apps after the recent upgrade...there is no album art.  Occasionally album art will sporadically begin to load (very slowly) but it is never cached (like in the older versions of the controller), because when I shut the controller down and restart it, all of the album art is gone again.  I am aware of how album art is handled with sonos, and I had never had any issue with my library in prior iterations of the software.  I’ve been a sonos user for over 15 years, and am very familiar with the software & systems.   I spent over 4 hours on 3 separate calls with Sonos support and was escalated to level 2 support.  I went through all of the usual troubleshooting steps:Reboot entire system..Router, all zone players & speakers (with complete power downs on all sonos & network gear. Deleted and reloaded the desktop controller several times. Provided detaile

S2 app, checked updates and fully updated. Songs won’t play directly from Sonos app but I can airplay Apple Music to the speakers.I tried reauthorizing as well as fully removing the account and adding it back in. Same issue.

My Imac has lost connection with Sonos since update to Ventura. Seems like a firewall issue,but can’t firuge it out

Since update to 15.2.1 the sound on my Play:1 jumps to 100% after a couple of minutes running. No matter if I set the sound on the app or on the computer. Also if it’s radio or from my server in the same network. This is annoying and makes the system unusable… Any hint on how to fix this issue?

I have posted this on the Apple community, but I fear they might delete the post for references to Sonos. Hopefully, someone here can help? I have a bit of an over the top audio setup whereby I have a Sonos Arc, 1 x Sub Gen 3 & 2 x Era 300’s. As well as this setup I have 2 x Sonos fives for listening to music in stereo format. I can’t listen to stereo music on a surround sound set up as it sounds awful. I couldn’t even come to listen to Atmos tracks on my previous set up which included the Sonos Ones as the rears. Now that I have swapped them with the Era 300’s listening to Atmos music on this system has been transformed from night into day; it’s really good. However, listening to Stereo format on this setup is still a terrible experience, which is to be expected. As an Apple Music subscriber, is there a way I can easily filter Stereo from Atmos, so that I can change to the desired system depending upon format? 

Hi thereI have tp link powerline adaptors hard wired to router and then to the playbar on the other side of the living room. They are definitely working as I have tested the ethernet signal with a MacBook. My issue is when I connect up the ethernet cable from adaptor to playbar it doesn’t seem to pick up the signal and it won’t let me turn off the playbars wifi.  has anyone experienced this before? Hopefully there is a simple fix. Playbar disappears from my system often via wifi even though it’s in the same room as my router. Bt smart hub 2. Sonos have replaced the playbar twice now due to apparently dodgey wifi cards. Great customer service I must add. PlayBar was bought nearly 8 years ago!

I have several devices on my home network, which is the same network that my Sonos system is on.Do I need to have the Sonos app installed on all of those devices if I want to use them to play Apple Music or Spotify? Or can I play directly from device to Sonos system from Apple Music or Spotify, bypassing the Sonos app?

HI , I have 2 Sonos systems that generally work very well. They are 10+ years old.Problem I cant seem to figure out : My spotify account is available on all systems. When anyone is using SPotify on one of the systems , the system seems to think its me using it and because Spotify won't let my login us the streaming service on multiple devices at a time it shuts me off , and keeps the Sonos system working in one of my homes that is using the service. This is very frustrating when I am using Spotify away from the  home , but another person in the  home is using it and kicks me off. ANy thoughts here ? 

I have several Sonos speakers connected to my home wifi network. For many years, I’ve been able to control the speakers both with the Android app and the Windows desktop app.However, after I reinstalled Windows 10 today, the Sonos desktop app can’t find my Sonos system, unless I set my wifi network as a public network in Windows. The Android controller is still working fine.I have checked my Windows firewall settings and reinstalled the Sonos desktop app several times. I have followed all the steps in Sonos’ configuration guide, where step 4 emphasizes that the network profile must be set to private. But the only way I can get the desktop controller to connect, is to do the opposite, and set it to public.For obvious reasons, I don’t want to define my home wifi as a public network. Does anyone have a solution to this?

I added a local station off Tunein (107.9, K-wave) to My Sonos. If i say HS play 107.9 or play K-wave it always defaults to playing some other station from Tunein with 107.9 or K-wave. Want to set this up for the wife so she has the ability to call this up.Also, I added a complication album from my Plex library to My Sonos and when I call it up the response ends up playing either Pandora or Apple Music.Please help.

WD’s My Cloud Home has just announced it will no longer support Sonos S1.I’m furious as mine was suggested by a telephone sales person.  It’s over two years old, so presumably out of warranty.I want to keep using my old Play 5’s. I just use the nas to play mucic from my library of 250 K songs It’d be much cheaper to buy say the Seagate 4TB Nas at £84 than pay £700 plus to upgrade my two Play 5’s.  But is it reliable? And are Seagate also likely to dump support for S1?Or are all companies that make nas likely to go that WD route?  And should I just acceot by Play 5’s are obselete?Many thanksPeter PS Other Nas often used by Sonos users are Buffalo Link Station, Fritz! Qnap and Synology.  Any thoughts on those?PPS I do use S2 for my two Roam speaker. But they of course dont link to S1.And do I understand that gen 1 SL’s wont connect to S2?    

Spotify keeps jumping tracks  - reset network and reinstalled the app ?

Had 2 Sonos speakers for a few years now. Today some songs skip due to “not encoded correctly” error (appears on desktop and app controllers). These songs have always played without. problem previously and they are in a playlist created 10 years ago on iTunes (Where they still work without error). One particular playlist skips the first 3 tracks entirely. I have read some explanations which. claim. it could be wifi interference, but this issue is only on specific songs not constantly.

I noticed this morning that I can no longer tap the volume bar for a room/group to increase/decrease it by one notch at a time. Is this a bug or a new change?I have asked others and it's not an issue for them.Android, Pixel 6a, Sonos app 15.2.I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app, but it's still an issue.Edit: fixed! But there's still an issue that needs fixing in the Sonos app.. I have a disability, and one of the issues I have is speaking - I recently enabled text-to-speech accessibility setting in Android (basically, a toggle floating on the screen > tap it > tap an area on the screen, then it reads out the text - could be useful). Turned out it stopped that particular volume control feature on the Sonos app - l I had to turn off the accessibility setting then restart my device for Sonos volume to work properly again.I have no idea if Sonos can work around this (it only affected a specific feature of the volume control), but I'm sure I'm not the only one with Sonos that a
