I just don’t get it.

If I want to play something on multiple speakers I simply select what other Sonus devices I want, when I’m playing something.  For the TV, I have to add my Sonus roam SL every time manually, so I thought, I know, I will create a group with my Arc, left and right speakers and sub woofer plus the Sonus SL, which is easy to do.  Now I have no idea how to actually use that group, as I still have to add the SL every time I turn on my TV.  Also, the volume control on my TV remote only changes the volume on the main set with the Arc, the SL stays at whatever volume was set in the Sonus app, which is a bit tedious.

What am I missing here?

I use Google assistant and also Sonus voice control.

I also have a 300 in the master bathroom with a beam in the bedroom next door, so I created a group, but there is no way to use it that I can find.

I must be missing the something here, can anybody explain.

I’m not sure if you’re saying you don’t get the point of groups? Or you can’t see how to use them?
Having created and saved a group, you can then stream to a room, a dynamically selected (temporary) group of rooms, or to a pre-selected permanent group of rooms. The pre-selected is just a short-hand way of quickly accessing a commonly used group. Groups are accessed via icon 7 shown here in an image taken from the Sonos App user guide.

The Sonos groups can be used in a variety of ways.

Firstly to use grouped rooms with your Arc HT connected to your TV, you will need to disable the feature ‘Ungroup on Autoplay’ in the Arc’s room settings. The Sonos rooms will then stay grouped when you power on your TV.

Groups also work well with SVC, including group volume control.

It’s also handy if you have lots of Sonos rooms, 3 or more, as grouping/ungrouping in the Sonos App can be done with a single click, rather than having to check/uncheck each room. See this link for grouping/ungrouping rooms.
