Amazon Alexa and Sonos

I'm currently using an Alexa dot in my kitchen with my sonos and i have just bought a sonos one for another room. They are both using alexa ok BUT if i ask the Kitchen alexa to play something from spotify in the other room it will stop the spotify track playing in the kitchen. And vice versa. It doesn't do it if im, say, playing something from tune-in the kitchen and ask it to play something from spotify in the other room - the radio keeps playing ok in the kitchen. Not sure why its stopping the music? Spotify is working fine on all my speakers if i do it through the sonos app so no conflict between speakers. Any ideas?

Hi. K have my connect amps in a cupboard running cables to 2 wired speakers in the bathrooms. I'd like to use voice activation to control my music . My question is can I hook up the Amazon echo/dot in the cupboard and somehow use the speakers in the bathrooms to "talk" to the dot and change music or must the Amazon device be the speaker that hears my commands? I don't want to have Amazon devices in the bathrooms..... Any suggestions welcome!

I have checked with Sonos, and they have confirmed that you cannot ask Alexa to play tracks from your own library. Further, they have no plans to support this. As much as I love my existing Sonus setup, and as much as I want to try Alexa out, I do NOT want to sign up to a music service when I have a large quantity of my favourite music already in my home Sonus library. I have no idea of the technical challenges involved with this. Given your voice command is uploaded and parsed somewhere else, it may be too difficult to send back the results to the sonos controller to access the local library. None the less, I wanted to start a conversation to see if I am alone, or if this is something a lot of people want. Regards, Ian

I've got Audible working through the Sonos app, but when I ask Alexa to play my audio book through my Sonos speakers like I do for Amazon music nothing happens. It responds like its going to play the book but then nothing. Has this feature been implemented or are we still waiting?

After telling Alexa to shut off music at a pre determined time and Alexa acknowledges, that time comes and goes, and the music plays on. Anybody get that problem, or have a similar experience?

I just bought the new sonos one to pair with my play 1 in the kitchen, spent an hour on hold, to find out the two won't pair!! You have to throw out the play 1 and by another sonos one. VERY disappointed and not at all clear in all the marketing I got. I have a house full of sonos speakers. Will this be fixed soon in an update??

I have a number of Sonos speakers, is there anyway to address a 'group' - like "Play relaxing music everywhere". I have tried setting up a group in the Alexa app, but that doesn't work. While I am here - do the names of the Sonos speakers have to be different to existing 'smart stuff'. I have lights called 'Living Room' and a Sonos called 'Living Room', and that seems to confuse things...

So, I have two Sonos ONE’s as rear surround speakers. When I set a timer using Alexa apparently asking the other speaker how time there is left does not work as the alarms are tied to the individual One. Two ONE’s that are in a single room should be treated as a single Alexa endpoint. When will this be fixed.

I've been trying to set up my sonos one all day! Sonos is showing as enabled on the Alexa app, Amazon showing as linked on the sonos app (so I can select music via browsing), but I cannot use alexa to request songs: when requesting songs I'm directed to enable sonos in the alexa app. Alexa will work for general requests eg weather. Where am I going wrong?! This is driving me crazy ?

I have a lot of Sonos speakers and also have a lot of Echo devices. I just signed up for Spotify to give it a try and linked it all together. I will say for example "Alexa, play Tina Turner on the Kitchen" and she'll say "Okay, playing music by Tina Turner on Spotify on the Kitchen." then nothing happens. I'll say "Alexa, play workout playlist on kitchen" and same thing "Okay, playing workout playlist from Spotify on the kitchen." and nothing happens. If I open the Sonos app on my computer, it will show (?) beside playing on the kitchen speaker. If I go to my library and start playing a song, THEN if I say "Alexa" the Sonos goes quiet throughout the house and I can say "stop playback" etc and it works. But as soon as I try to request something she doesn't play. The alexa.amazon.com site shows her understanding exactly what I said, and showing that she's controlling Spotify but it never actually works. This is a brand new setup, I've wiped the Echo's

I have Google Home and a Sonos Play:1 speaker. Sonos says that in 2018 the Sonos speakers will be compatible with Google Assistant but will that be a software change that will allow me to use my current speaker with Google Assistant or will I have to purchase a new Sonos speaker in order to be able to use the Assistant with Sonos? Does anybody know this yet?

Hi I am really confused as to the capabilities of Alex and controlling different rooms. I have 3 speakers, Sonos One with Alex, Play 1 and Play 5. The speakers are labelled in the Sonos app as Bedroom, Living Room and Nursery. If I say, Alex play Oasis in the Bedroom...should this work? I understand that multi room and grouping is not currently possible though? Thanks in advance

I’ve had all of my Speakers working flawlessly with the Alexa app even though it’s not been available here in Australia I obtained it through the US App Store. Basically I want to know if anyone has an idea when Sonos will finally release the skill for sonos for the Alexa app so us aussies can finally put to use what we paid good money for to begin with. I understand they brought out the sonos one with Alexa etc etc and yes we all realised it’s no good unless your in a country that actually has it working , News flash sonos we have amazon and Alexa working just fine and have done now for a few weeks. Wouldn’t you think that they could have moved a bit faster and released the skill here as of FEBRUARY 1 to coincide the the launch of Alexa and all her gadgets. I updated my Sonos app to the latest version and skills like flash briefing still don’t work. Alexa responds with “Heres your flash briefing” but then goes silent. Is anyone else having this issue? I was under the impression this bug was going to be fixed on the latest update.

I tried the mute/unmute mic suggestion which lead to no improvement

Does anyone else still experience problems with mic sensitivity? Even after the last update, I still find myself screaming and repeating myself to get alexa to acknowledge me. The update did help some, but it's still not where I feel like it should be. Am I the only one?

I have 2 locations with 7 speakers in one and 2 in another and multiple ech dots at each. I come to find the sonos Alexa app only supports the addition of speakers from one location. Can this be updated or improved?

Hello, I have several "Music Groups" that I have used with Amazon's recent feature to play music simultaneously on several Echos. I have recently received my Sonos One and it appears that I cannot add it to any groups. Is it possible to play music simultaneously through my Sonos One in the living room and, say, my Echo in the kitchen?

I have set up Alexa, with Sonos skill enabled in the app along with Spotify being default music service. I then try to ask Alexa to play a certain playlist/song/artist and I get the response of “Go to app and enable Sonos skill” which I have already done. Does anybody know how to solve this issue? One of the main selling points of Sonos One is Alexa Voice control with music services and currently can’t do this. Doesn’t anybody know how to solve this?

I have Alexa controlling Sonos at my home with an Echo. I'd like to add a Sonos 1 at my parent's place. Can I use my Amazon Prime account at both locations (I know I can't stream Amazon music on both at the same time with my standard Prime account).

I have two homes with various Sonos devices. I set up the Alexa/Sonos integration in one home, which worked great. But now I'm in the second and want to add the devices in that home. Discover in the Alexa App is not finding them. Is this a supported configuration? If so, what do I need to do to make it work? If not, please add it to the wishlist!

I successfully went through all the steps to link Sonos to the Alexa app. The SONOS skill is now enabled and the Sonos Device "Kitchen" (a Play:1) was discovered and appears on the Device List. However, when I ask Alexa to play music, it simply plays it through the Echo Dot. If I specifically ask "Alexa, play music in Kitchen", Alexa will answer "Sorry, something went wrong". And no, I don't have another device named 'Kitchen'; just the Sonos speaker. And yes, I deleted the Sonos device on the Alexa app, asked the App to discover devices, it found it, and still the same problem. I'm at a loss... can anyone help?

Every time I go into settings in Alexa app and do the drop downs for location, address and postcode etc.. it lets me do it, I press save and then it reverts back to being empty as If I didn't put them in. Its a small issue but driving me mad! I ask Alexa say for the weather and she tells me to put in this info on the app, but it just wont save the details. ???

Just picked up the Sonos One (My 6th Sonos Speaker)... and I am super disappointed about the mic sensitivity. I placed the new Sonos One is the same exact place where my Echo was.... and I have to repeat and speak very LOUD for the sonos one to hear me. In fact... my echo dot in another room usually hears me first. Also... the fact that I can't pair a Sonos One with a Play 1 is silly. Using 2 Sonos One as a Pair is Alexa over-kill. This seems like an easy software update.
