Amazon Alexa and Sonos

Hi all. I am looking at purchasing the new Sonos One as an addition to my Gen 1 Sonos system. Will the new Sonos One pair/group with all my of my gen 1 speakers ? I am aware you must buy two Sonos One speakers if you want to use them together (stereo)since the Sonos 1 will not pair in as a stereo with Sonos One, but will my existing Sonos 1 be able to work in a group set up? Thank you for any help someone can offer.

We have a new Alexa speaker 1 in the bedroom, which is in the loft, so separated by a couple of floors from the bridge on the ground floor. We have a WiFi booster on the floor between. Issue we have is that alexa is inconsistent and drops out . The router is a few years old now, is there anything we can do to fix the problem ,which is irritating ..

I bought a Sonus1 with Alexa. Set up ok and worked wonderfully. Yesterday Alexa stopped talking. Ecerything looks ok but U cannot get Alexa to work again?

Hi, I live in France. I have a Sonos system enabled with my smart TV and an Echo which I configured (hacked) since Alexa is not yet available in France. I was recently given a Sonos One which I have added to the network ; Spotify is enabled and works properly. Question: how do I enable Alexa for the Sonos One? When I was setting up the device, the app said that voice services were not available; wondering if there is a workaround? Thanks!

Just noticed a Synology article on accessing music on their units via voice control. http://bit.do/SynAlexa Is US English only and only supports 2014 and later units, but it's a move in the right direction for accessing local music. Though it does send the music from your NAS to Echo via Amazon servers rather then local LAN.

Anyone have a suggestion why a Alexa voice controls won't work with a play5? It will play music, but I can't adjust the volume level via Alexa.

Hello, I currently own a Sonos One that I purchased here in Mexico. I'm wondering when Alexa will be supported here. I've read about this topic and there's no specific time frame on when this will be available. I really don't mind at all that Spanish is not supported anywhere in the world with Alexa since I'm a native English speaker from the US and all I really need is Alexa to be available period. At the moment is there anyway around this? I have a US app store account and have downloaded the Amazon Alexa app on my phone but still no luck in setting it up on my Sonos.

I noticed whenever I initiate music using Alexa I can’t thumbs up/down songs on the app if I need to. I have to stop and restart Pandora from the app to get that option. Am I missing something or is this a feature not currently supported? If not supported, I’d like to request it. Thanks.

There is at least a 10 second delay in getting an audio signal be heard on my 2nd Gen Play 5 from my Amazon Echo. No it is not the Echo. I have no delay when plug my headphones or other 3.mm speakers. Sonos is pointing fingers at Amazon and vice versa. I have spent hours on the phone trying to resolve. It makes my Echo enabled Sonos system almost unusable for anything but playing music. In case someone from Sonos tech support is monitoring this, here is my case number. Are there any plans to allow pairing of an Echo Dot to a particular Sonos speaker? For example, I would like to move my Play:3 to the garage and put an Echo Dot out there with it, so that I can talk to the Dot and have all responses come through the Play:3. Is this in the works at all?

I have two Sonos Ones that are paired as a stereo set. I noticed that whenever my router fails (need to be off and on) the Alexa feature would not work anymore - Alexa will respond to my general requests, but when it concerns the Sonos device such as play/pause/higher volume/lower volume, it will not work. I always need to remove the Sonos skill from Alexa app and remove Alexa under voice assistant and re-add them in again. Please fix this.

Just wondering if anyone has their smart Tv setup so Alexa switches the Tv channel, turns off/on etc. I was wondering what set up you are using to achive this. Im aware of IFTTT but havent attempted it as im not the most techy savvy. Youtube do tutorials but very often involve some programming which im not the best at. What im looking for is what to buy and how simple it was to set up. Im using a Sony smart tv with a soundbar, sub, two play threes through the play one using alexa. Many thanks Samzie

In Canada. I want to add a single speaker to my existing setup. My current setup includes playbar, sub, play1's in LR and 2 play1's in kitchen with an Echo in an area between both rooms that I can use to control the speaker mute, volume, etc. Sirius is my primary music service. Echo is tied to a US account because of poor skill amount in Canada. Area I want to add a speaker to too far away to use the Echo. My options are add a Play1 with a Dot or a Sonos One. Are there any restrictions/difference between the Sonos One and the echo or dot relating to the Alexa functions?

Just received my shiny new Echo Dots today, following Alexa launch in Australia yesterday. Followed setup steps and find that Sonos Skill is not available. I got the memo re Sonos One not yet working with Alexa (Yar boo sucks!) 'til "Autumn" ... is this part of the same hold up or am I missing something? Has anyone in Australia successfully set up an Amazon Alexa device with their Sonos system?

I have pair of Sonos One speakers. Alexa works great but only on one of the 2 speakers. Can Alexa work on both speakers.

Hi, a quick question: I have 3 Sonos speakers in my living room. (2 Sonos Play 1s and a sub.) That group is called "Living Room." I have an Amazon Echo in my kitchen. Is there any way I can join everything and create a "Whole House" group, essentially add the Echo to what I already have? I see lots of posts about adding Sonos to Alexa's functionality, but not the other way around--just adding Alexa to my existing Sonos situation. Thanks!

Plex Media Server is really stepping up the game on feature sets and things it can do. Sonos is not yet up to speed, and although, being in IT myself, I understand the task at hand in creating code, but when will Sonos be up to speed on having the Alexa skills (Not just the Plex skill) available to the SONOS hardware? I understand the PLEX module in the Sonos player is still in beta, and its been like that for well over the amount of time that I have been a customer of Sonos. It works fine for me personally, so I may or may not be seeing some of the problems people are having with it. Many times these collaborative efforts by two or more companies coming together to create a product or add features take longer then initially thought. That could be weeks or sometimes months, but when does the wait become to long? Customers want to invest in products that are quality, and Sonos certainly is that for me. I have a Sonos Play One and a Connect Amp connected to a pair of Bowers and Wilkins speakers which has been working great. I have recently got an Echo Dot which I want to use with my Connect Amp so I have connected the Echo Dot to the Connect Amp using the Line In connector on the Amp. This works great on both my Play 1 in the kitchen and the Connect Amp in the lounge when I say for example... Alexa, open Heart 80's - It comes on at the correct volume on all speakers. The problem is Alexa (Herself???) as this volume is incredibly low and most of the time you can't actually figure out what she is saying to start with and then the volume goes REALLY loud. I know part of the Alexa skill is to cut the Sonos volume so that Alexa can hear the promt but does there need to be a check box in the settings to ask if you are connected via the Line In and not cut the volume for Alexa. Ducking- Hi is there any signs of a resolution to the ducking problem as it is really annoying. Got three Echo dots for me and the kids for Christmas adnd someone is forever asking alexa a question and everyone else's experience of Sonos is affected. Please help soon otherwise it is going in the cupboard until sorted!

I had some trouble with my Sonos setup a couple of days ago that required some troubleshooting. I have two sonos ones acting as surrounds to my playbar and sub in the living room. When I was troubleshooting I removed the surrounds and tested them as individual speakers and also as a stereo pair. When doing this, I had to give a name to the stereo pair and the two individual speakers. At some point, I also changed the name of the Living Room to TV Room thinking the issue may have been caused by a naming conflict. After my issue was resolved, I added the surrounds back to my living room setup where they will remain. Now, in the alexa app the names for my stereo pair and individual speakers still remain even though they are not in use. I now have 4 device names on the alexa app that are not in use. I understand that I will have my group name which is now Living Room and my two Sonos devices which are now labeled Sonos One Left and Sonos One Right. However, I also have devices named TV Roo

Hi. One of my favorite streams is a listener-supported station called Folk Alley, https://www.folkalley.com/. I have been listening to their stream on TuneIn for quite some time. However, they have recently added a "member stream" for people who have donated money to support their operation. If you listen to the member stream, you do not have to listen to their asking for money during pledge drives. So I made the required contribution. I can get the member stream via their web page, but I emailed Folk Alley and asked them if it is possible for me to listen to that stream using my Sonos One with built-in Alexa. They responded that they have an Alexa skill! I was excited about that, and added the skill. But when I try "Alexa, play Folk Alley" I just get the response "Sorry, I'm having trouble accessing your Folk Alley skill right now." Hi, firstly the sound quality is great, no issues there, however I do feel I have been missold this product! I purchase this with the sole purpose Upgrading the sound quality on an amazon echo device as this has eledgedly got echo functionality built in. This does not have anywhere close to the functionality of an echo device. I am gutted as this was the reason for the purchase. I have made the mistake of waiting in the hope the functionality will be added, it clearly won’t be, most probably down to Amazon, but it’s not the point. You can’t use any of the multi room functionality, you can’t drop in, you can’t make calls you can’t announce, basically all you can do is ask it to play music!. This has not even go a line in so you can add an echo dot to give full functionality. This has been a complete waste of money for me and had I known this I would not have purchased.
