Amazon Alexa and Sonos

I have a sonos one, set up perfectly the first time then we had a WiFi account change and now will speak and say playing through Spotify or tune in radio but no sound come out??? I have re set speaker and still the same any help really greatful. I can play music manually through Spotify but not by voice.

I have 10 Sonos rooms in my home. I have multiple people living in my home. My daughter is the heaviest user of Alexa. With the Sonos skill enabled, every time she activates Alexa, all the active Sonos speakers go mute. I have found that I sometimes can not listen to a single song without 8 interruptions while listening on the other side of the house. Ever try watching a show while your child is listening to a different song via Alexa every 30 seconds? I understand there is no correlation between the Alexa device (Echo Dot) and the room it is located in. As a result, all the speakers go mute in the whole house. However, with the Sonos device that have Alexa built-in, why wouldn't it just mute these devices? Why does it still have to mute the entire house. I have invested heavily in Sonos over the years and have 17 Sonos devices. I am hesitant to invest in the 'latest' devices like Sonos One or Beam if they will cause a poor user experience. I have the beam and connected Fire Stick to my TCL TV. I updated the CEC on TV to recognize the Fire Stick, but I am unable to control Fire Stick with Alexa voice commands. I have Alexa app updated to my device (Sonos Beam). Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong. I believe controlling Fire Stick is doable through Alexa and the beam.

Hi Guys, I use Sonos for some years now and I'm very happy with them. Play:1's in some rooms (kitchen, hobby room, etc.) and a full surround setup in the living room (Playbar, Sub and two Play:1's). Using Echo dot and Alexa, the Sonos One seemed the perfect new investment. And so I pre-ordered a Play One and it arrived yesterday. Starting with using just one Play One as a separate speaker with Alexa was no problem, works perfectly (except Spotify, but that is a known issue). Just like using my Echo Dot. Pairing that Play One with one of my existing Play:1 speakers as a stereo pair, no go. So I went and bought me an extra Play One (yeah why not Sonos, you're welcome...). Pairing these two Play One's as a stereo pair worked fine, but Alexa was kind of confused when I ask something. Seemed like both speakers tried to listen and answer or something like that. So I unpaired them, removed Alexa from one of the One's and paired them up again and that seemed to do the trick

Hi, As part of trying to resolve issues I was having getting Alexa to play my flash briefing, I de-registered all my Sonos devices with Amazon. Unfortunately, Alexa now can't "discover" the devices with the Sonos smart home skill. I get the helpful message "There was an error discovering your devices". I've tried: - disabling/enabling the Sonos skill. - re-installing the Alexa app. - cycling the power on all sonos devices. Nothing works, my devices cannot be discovered and I can't control anything with Alexa. Control of the speakers through the Sonos app works as normal. Any help to get everything working would be much appreciated. Thanks!

We purchases an Echo about a year ago and it now sits about 10 feet from my new Sonos Beam. When I setup the Beam I didn't setup it up to use voice commands over the fear of having both devices responding to the same commands and it works fine but now I'm wondering if there's a way to have both devices work independently in the same room? I would like the Sonos to control my TV and my Echo to do everything else. Can this be done?

Simple question hopefully have a simple answer. I've been using Alexa with Sonos since the day it was released, previously if I start playing a playlist from the iPhone App, whether it be music from my NAS, or an Apple music playlist ... if I then say "Alexa pause music on kitchen", it pauses, but if I then say "Alexa resume music on kitchen", it starts playing either the last music requested through Alexa rather than resuming the actual last music being played. OR sometimes says, "Here's a station you might like from Amazon Music ... blah blah blah" .... This ISN'T how it used to work ... it's stopped at some point in the few months. Any ideas anyone ?

Good day, I wish to know if I will be able to do the following, it will decide whether I purchase this product or not. My wife and I have an Apple Music Family subscription, therefore, I want to know whether we would be able to simply say to Alexa, 'Alexa, play x Playlist from x account'. If I ahve to into an app and change the user each time, it's not worth the expense. Is this possible?

When will voice activation work in Denmark ?

Hello, I have an Amazon Echo Dot and tried to play music from my phone through bluetooth on it, which worked fine. Anything I played on my mobile would play on Echo Dot. If I add Sonos Play 1 speaker on Amazon Echo Dot, would I still be able to play anything on my mobile/laptop and the sound still coming out from Sonos? Mobile -> Bluetooth -> Amazon Echo Dot -> Sonos? This is for anything played on the mobile. Thanks!

Hey Everyone, I’m running the latest iOS app and firmware on my Sonos One’s. I noticed that sometimes Pandora’s thumbs up/down buttons are missing from the Sonos iOS app. I can still tell the Sono’s One’s Alexa to thumbs up/down, though. It seems that this happens when starting Pandora via Alexa and not via the Sonos app. Has anyone else noticed this?

I have purchased Sonos Beam and two Sonos Play:1. I have set up and registered the products on the Sonos account. I have set up Amazon Alexa on my laptop (using BlueStacks anroid app as our phones are not to latest spec). I can select and play music/Radio stations etc, and have surround sound from HDMI ARC from television. The lap top is wirless, so that implies that the wirless connection is working and also that the Play1 and Beam work. I have added the Sonos skill to the Amazon Alexa account, but when I try 'Add Device' a popup screen displays 'Discovery failed'. Please can anybody direct me to a step by step installation guide for the Sonos Beam with Alexa. Thanks

It won’t pause the TV, and it won’t pause music. If a song is playing and I say, ‘Alexa, pause’ she’ll either say she can’t or that she can’t find a device in my profile.

Hello, I asked Alexa to set a music alarm to a specific song with Spotify and she responded with “this feature is not currently supported on this device”. Is this a bug? Does anyone know how to fix it? Thanks in advance!!

My Sony KDL-40W2000 does not have ARC connection. When i use the adaptor cable to the optical connection on the Sky box things work fine until i turn the TV off - the sound from the TV continues through the Beam. Any ideas how to fix this.

Hey guys I'm looking at getting a couple of Sonos ones and a playbar. I currently have 2x Google homes in 2 different rooms. I plan on putting the play ones into different separate rooms also. I plan on keeping Google homes around until Sonos can take over with Google support. My question is, we often say to the Google home "hey Google, play blah blah on all devices". Then it will pay music on both Google homes in sync around the house. Will it also play on the play ones also? If so, would it Play on the playbar also? I can't seem to find the answer to this anywhere so hopefully someone in a similar position can help Thanks alot Andy

Every time I ask Alexa to control music in any fashion (start, stop, play, pause, skip, etc.) I get the reply “sorry, that device is online.” Ironically, the device in question is the Sonos One that is telling me it is offline itself. Every other command works, for example I have Lutron switches and Kasa plugs that work great. Any questions I ask Alexa get a proper response. It is just using the Sonos speaker with Alexa to play music through itself that is a problem. Does anyone know how to fix this? I’ve tried unplugging and restarting, unpairing the devices, uninstalling the Sonos skill on Alexa, switching wifi networks... nothing seems to work. Is it too much to ask for the products I purchase to work together as advertised?

Hi I am sorry to ask yet another question about having an Echo Dot play all sound or music through a nominated Sonos Play 1 speaker by default. I’ve seen plenty of questions about this but can’t find any definitive answer as far as I can see. Is this feature coming (some say Amazon will deliver it?) or not?

I used to be able to command Alexa to play say, Radio 2 from Tunein in Dining Room but since I got a new router I get the reply 'I didn't find anything called dining room that can play music'. On my Alexa app the Sonos speakers appear to be correctly set up as devices, and Tunein is listed as a music service but it won't let me set it as the default music service. Am I doing something wrong?

I've just bought a Sonos ONE and have two other old sonos speaker (ie not smart). I thought I would be able to control all three through Alexa, either playing one, two or all three at a time but I can't. Apparently I have either to just control the Sonos ONE with Alexa, and then the others the old manual way on the Sonos app. OR I have to group all three on the Sonos app and then I can play all three via Alexa. This is not what I understood from the advertising. Is there a way I can make my smart Sonos ONE with Alexa control which speakers to play via voice control?

I just got a Sonos One for Xmas with Alexa and I love it. However, I am a newbie and would like to ask Alexa to play a song, album or playlist from my fairly large iTunes library on my iMac. Can anyone assist me on how to do that? Thanks in advance.

I must be be being a bit thick, and this is obviously not a huge problem,but: Why can’t I make Alexa turn my Beam on by saying, ‘Alexa, turn on the TV’ like on the ads? I can say, ‘Alexa, turn off the TV’ and she will, but I have to say, ‘Alexa, turn on the lounge’ to turn the TV on? It took me a lot longer than you might imagine to work out how to turn it on by voice at all, I was shouting all sorts of things at her. 🆒

Got it plugged into the ARC and Alexa is working but it doesn’t control my TV. Does it not work with Directv? Thanks

I'm new to the Sonos ecosystem and purchased a Sonos One to replace an old Echo. So far I have really enjoy the music playback and quality of the sound. But compared to Amazon's Echo line, are the microphone significantly less sensitive on the One. Nearly 50% of the time I try to trigger Alexa in a quiet room (no background noise) and normal speaking volume, nothing happens. I would have to raise my voice repeatedly until I'm nearly yelling to wake Alexa. My old Echo in the same position in the Kitchen could be triggered with a mumbling voice, even with the water tap running. I've tried some of the troubleshooting suggestions on other threads by restarting or turning the mic on and off. Is there some settings or way to increase the insensitivity? As it stands right now, it's just not usable as a smart speaker.

I subscribe to Digital Interactive / Radiotunes and have added (using Manage > Add Radio Station) those streams (each with a unique URL that includes my paid subscription identifier) to my Sonos as "added radio station". In the Sonos UI, they show up under "Radio by TuneIn" even though they are not actually TuneIn stations. Now it would be nice if I could get Alexa to select those stations. I have been trying to give the stations unique names that don't match anything else in my library or any real station ("rhubarb soap" etc.) but apparently since these are not real TuneIn stations they are not found via the Alexa search interface. There needs to be a Sonos interface so that stations that have been added by the user directly can be selected via Alexa. If that means taking these added stations out of the TuneIn tab, then that might even reduce the confusion. Please, Sonos, please!
