Amazon Alexa and Sonos

I am using Yonomi with Alexa to perform Sonos commands and I find it to be very inconsistent. For example, I have a Yonomi routine called “Jazz” that plays jazz radio on Pandora on Sonos. Half the time I say “Alexa, turn on jazz” and it works great. Then a second later I try it again and it doesn’t work. Doesn’t show a notification, doesn’t do anything. I even have an old iPhone running Yonomi in Guided Access and it’s still inconsistent. Any advice?

Voice command to pause or stop song does not work. Anyone know how to fix this. Just got sonos one yesterday and will return soon if I cannot resolve this.

Does anyone know how to change the alarm sound on the Sonos one? Also can we please push Alexa / Sonos to support music as the wake up alarm? I hate the darn tones haha. I mean come on this is basic. I have already sent through the alexa app feedback to Amazon and they said, of course, they would send it to their dev team. I hope it get's fixed soon. However even if Alexa / Amazon fixes this we also have to wait for Sonos (or Amazon) to allow access to third parties to use that feature via their various SDK's. Seems Amazon will capitalize on any new feature themselves and wait a while before letting third parties use it

I have two Play:1s (named Bedroom and Kitchen) and am now, thankfully, able to use Echo Dot (2nd Gen)/Alexa to play music and playlists with Spotify on the speakers. I do have an issue and have read some posts about this but couldn't find a definitive answer so here goes... I'd like to be able to play music on Bedroom or Kitchen or both of these at the same time via an Alexa voice command. I know that you can group Sonos devices in the Sonos app but I cannot give it a name of my choosing and saying "play..... on kitchen and bedroom" won't work. In the Alexa App I can create a group of devices so have created one called "Both" comprising both the Bedroom and Kitchen devices, but when I command Alexa to play on "Both" the device or group cannot be found - I should stress that this this is definitely configured in the Alexa app. I've even tried changing the group names. I am based in the UK and looking to buy some smart plugs. I would like to use them in conjunction with Alexa. Having experienced some voice commands that do not work with Sonos Alexa (but do with my Echo Dot) I want to ensure the smart plugs will work with the Sonos Alexa. Any knowledge/experience would be great.

Is it somehow possible to stream audio files from the Blinkist App to my Sonos One system? I understand the Alexa App "Blinkist Minutes" is not the same, it only offers a minute of input every day. Any ideas? Thank you!!!

Reluctantly, I disabled the Alexa skill for Sonos today. The whole house ducking was causing too many complaints form everyone in the house. Ducking a Sonos speaker in a room so far away from the person using Alexa just doesn't make sense. I really would like to use voice commands with Sonos; but I guess I will have to wait even longer for Sonos to correct this problem. I have three Echo dots connected to Sonos either through line-in jacks or Connects. This was originally done to work around the Audible issue. The bonus of doing this was that all output from the Dots sounded great going through the Sonos speakers. Even, simple things like: "Alexa, what is the weather?" sound very good. Well, they don't with ducking, because you can't hear them at all now. Perhaps the long-term fix is to assign Alexa devices to specific Sonos products. A short-term fix would be to add the option of turning ducking off. I would be willing to accept that Alexa might not be able to hear me with this

I can play radio.com station 670 the score on my Echo Dot. I can stream it from the Sonos app to any of my Sonos speakers. When I ask Alexa on Sonos One to play "670 the score" it replies "playing 670 the score on Radio.com". Nothing happens. No sound plays. This is utterly baffling to me and I'm to the point where I have to sit at my desk and listen to my favorite station on my computer or through my phone. First world problems indeed, but an annoying problem none the less. Can anyone relate? Suggestions? It clearly has the skill turned on in Alexa, but it won't produce sound.

I have Spotify Family. I want to play different music from spotify in 2 different rooms. In one room I have a sonos speaker and another I have an Alexa speaker. When I play on the alexa it cuts out the Sonos speaker and vice versa. I get a message saying "playback from spotify was stopped because playback was started from another room or device. Spotify limits the number of simultaneous audio streams you can access from your device". There must be a way to do this but I cannot figure it out and so I am beyond frustrated. Can anyone help me please? If it is impossible with Spotify, is it possible with one of the other services e.g. Amazon Music or Apple Music? Basically I want to play different music in different rooms on both Alexa speaker and Sonos speakers. Is there any way to make that work? Apparently, like other users, I am quite frustrated by the fact I have to have exactly the same speakers in order to form a stereo pair. Some of the comments (I guess from Sonos staff) say things like "It would be 'ridiculous' to have a pair with different speakers". This implies that Sonos is trying to be a high quality audio system, not just a streaming system. In my opinion that will never be possible with essentially single box speakers. I cant believe it will ever compare to the quality of my main HiFi system (Which cost about eight thousand pounds). Sonos is great for streaming music around the house with mobile phone control. That's its for. I have had Play 1 speakers for a while but recently added a Sonos One in order to get Alexa. This is in my bedroom, so I thought I would use the 'spare' Play 1 in the bedroom to form a stereo pair. But the system wont allow it. Hi, Can someone help me, I cannot at all set voice Services on my Sonos One, I keep getting the message attached like the picture attached, with “Setup Problem Check your internet Connection and tru again later.” I saw a posting with set it on cable and connect my phone on 5G network from router, but my router is only 2.4 G. I found something exploring through the Alexa app that looks odd. I show 2 instances of the same device name but with different serial numbers in the Alexa app as shown in the pic. Is this normal? it doesn't show up like this on the Amazon content and devices list as only a single device is shown.

I just bought a Sonos one today, I already have a Sonos play1 and an amazon Alexa. After I had setup my new Sonos in the Sonos app, and after going though the voice setup, when I ask it to play a song it 1. takes about 25 seconds for it to know what I said and 2. either says there was a problem or just ignores it and does nothing. I don't know how to fix it and I really wouldn't like to return it if I didn't have to.

I got a Sonos one for Christmas but I can't get Alexa to work. I'm in Hong Kong and it just says not supported. Any ideas please.

Alexa on my Sonos Beam stopped working all of a sudden yesterday. If I try and request a song (or "what's in the news", etc.) Alexa responds "OK, now playing XXXX..." but then there is no sound. The sound is turned up (it works if I go into the Sonos app and start a song from within there), but does not play when requested through Alexa. If I then go into my kitchen where I have an Amazon Echo and request a song it says that Amazon is streaming on another device. It also wouldn't turn the TV on / off, saying that "Lounge TV is not available" - having switched both the TV and beam off overnight that is now working this morning, but still unable to play music, etc.

Alexa is having trouble understanding,. i can send music to this speaker from an echo, please help me get back control

I just added 2 Sonos One's to my Playbar with Sub as surround sound speakers (5.1 theater config). Music sound level is good but Alexa voice volumn level is too LOW! I can hardly hear her response even when I am very close to the Sonos ONE. If I touch the Sonus ONE to increase the volumn it causes all the speakers to increase in volumn (and Alexa voice volumn is still too low). Anyone having this problem and/or know a solution for it? Is there possible an issue using Sonus ONE in a surround configuration? Please help.

There are not enough services for Mexico, so do not buy it until AMAZON alexa is available, otherwise is waste of money

Hi, I have six dots and seven sonos devices (play 1&5). Ive set everything up: Skill added and logged in with same account as sonos No duplicate naming Same Spotify account and made it pref source I can control the sonos deevices with alexa: play pause etc I can play tunein radio with alexa But when I want to play Spotify alexa says playing... On sonos xxx. And then nothing. Tried reinstalling, renaming, about everything. But alexa won't play Spotify on any of my sonos. It plays on the dots, but not on sonos. Any tips how to get this to work? Thanks!

Can someone please advise how to have Sonos One and Echo units play together? I bought the Sonos One yesterday and was surprised when that capability was not available. I tried syncing for hours with not success. I could only play one song on my two echo's and a different on on my Sonos. Most likely will return the Sonos One if it's not an option. Is that capability out there? Can someone instruct how to do it? Thank you for your help!

According to Amazon that's the case. So i did a chat with Amazon support since the Sonos One is not finding my Phillips Hue lights (which work fine with the Dot)... Can someone from Sonos weigh in on this? If i can't entirely replace my Dot with the Sonos One then it's going to get sent back. Quite simply my Sonos One doesn't find my hue lights, but if i plug the Dot back in it disovers them fine, and they can be controlled via the One. If i unplug the Dot the lights become unreachable. All other smart home devices are ok. I don't want to make this post too wordy, but i've done all the troubleshooting i can think of, inculding removing and re-adding voice services which i saw in another post. I have removed the Dot from my Alexa account, leaving just the One, still no joy. My lights are using the v1 Hue Bridge in case that matters Thanks

Does anyone know if the newly announced Amazon Echo Sub will be able to pair with Sonos speakers via Airplay 2? More specifically, I have a Playbase, One and a Play: 5 (gen 2) that I use to play music (via Airplay 2 rather than the Sonos app). Seeing as the Amazon Echo Sub will connect via WiFi, can this be added into the group via Airplay 2? Admittedly, the Echo Sub will be no way great in comparison to the Sonos Sub, however, at the price tag it's surely going to win the hearts of anyone who doesn't want to fork out £700 on the Sonos Sub.

Hi,I live in Germany and was about to order 2 x Sonus One until I read that "Voice control for Sonos is not supported in your country, yet" Looking at the threads I am left confused. So my questions are (1) can I use my Amazon Germany account and still speak English to Alexa? (2) what functionality is missing from typical Amazon dot product (3) when will google assistant be supported and will that allow me full music control plus other google services? All was working fine, until this week when Alexa announced that it was starting a free trial to Amazon Music. I don't want one, but it didn't give me an option to argue it, so I moved on. After that, Alexa will play anything on the dot, but won't transfer Spotify to the Sonos One. It'll pause, control volume on the Sonos, but not start it - I have to start it via my phone. Nothing to say that the Amazon Music trial kicking in and Spotify stopping working is related - but it's a rather large coincidence. Default music service is set to Spotify. I've done every bit of deauthorising, resetting, skill disabling, etc etc etc. It's really boring.

Alexa does not recognise my location, any ideas on how to get to to work? If I ask what the weather is Alexa says set up location in settings. In the settings on the Alexa ap and on the alexa desktop it see's each device twice i.e. P's Sonos 1 and Bedroom, P's Sonos Beam and Lounge. The location is saved in the Sonos device but will not save in the room. What do I need to do to get Alexa to recognise my location?
