Amazon Alexa and Sonos

I have an Echo Show 8 in my kitchen, set to play music through two Sonos speakers in the same Alexa room/group ("Kitchen"). In the Sonos app, I have a Playbar and Move 2 grouped together as "Kitchen." When I ask Alexa to play music, it starts playing and shows both speakers grouped in the Sonos app and playing music, but audio only comes from the Playbar, not the Move?Note: Alexa is not enabled on the Move 2, as I rely on the Echo Show for features like displaying video from my Ring cameras, useful when the doorbell rings etc. The Playbar obviously doesn’t inherently support Alexa due to its age.Moderator Note: Modified in accordance with the Community Code of Conduct.

Sonos One can play music from my phone, can command Alexa to provide weather etc, but when I ask ask Alexa to play radio station (eg. Radio 4), it replies “playing radio 4 (or Times radio or whatever) but then there is just silence. I have just changed my router but presumambly that is ot the problem as Alexa reponds, but it just doesn’t play the radio stations.Any help would be appreciated.

Sometimes when I say “Alexa, volume up” or “Alexa, volume down”, the volume on all 10 Sonos devices goes VERY low for 10 seconds before it going to the raised or lowered volume. This is irritating because if playing a podcast, I miss 10 seconds of the podcast. This doesn’t always occur, but probably half the time. This behavior recently started occurring. I can understand if a Sonos device that has a microphone might lower the volume when someone is speaking to it, but this happens to all Sonos device even those without a microphone.

My husband ran off and left me with a Sonos system . Unfortunately he appears to have bought lots and installed them all over the place so I’ve got a system that refers to his other partners houses. I’m struggling to get even Alexa to work as I also got the Sonos voice thing to work. I think I’ve worked out which bits are for here and other places but how do I get voice control to work do I just use one ?Also nothing is coming up about connecting to media so whilst I can get things to play  from the app I can no longer get Alexa to work . Do I need to get an Alexa premium account as well as Apple to play music?Thankyou for any advice . 

From one week, I ask Alexa for radio (TuneIn) and music (Apple Music), Alexa answers OK, but these servicies don’t work  

Hi Guys ..Received my Arc Ultra...Was struggling to connect my Amazon Assit to it ..Solution was remove Amazon Shopping App from phone...Then follow instructions ...Connected straight away ...Hope it helps 

Recently, Beam will not play live radio stations unless I use the controls on the device or press play on app with phone. This is new- for years I’ve been asking Alexa to play a live npr station (usually defaults to Tunein or Iheart). Now, Alexa confirms my prompt and says “playing…” but then nothing happens. Also- this is *not* happening on my older Sonos One- still works as usual. I tried removing Alexa, re-installing it, all apps are up to date, re-booting. Help! Any suggestions would be appreciated! 

I use a number of Alexa speakers around the house and have speaker groups set up. Alexa doesn’t have a portable device so I bought the Sonos Roam but It can’t be added to a speaker group like the everywhere group. Does anybody have a way to get this going perhaps a work around? 

Hi there!I am getting really frustrated with trying to install Alexa on my new Era 300. I have tried several times, factory reseting speaker but still - at first there is only one option to add vooce assistent - Sonos voice assistent. When I succesfully add it, then click on add voice assistent it just gives me the option to use third part smart device to control Sonos speaker (which I do not want - I want to install and use Alexa on Era 300), and leads me to quick help manual. No other options at all. Also in the Amazon Alexa app - there is no Sonos skill, for that matter anyways?!i have tried to reinstall both apps (Sonos and Amazon Alexa app) with no luck. please help!

Hi all, I added a new ROAM 2 to my system last week and cant use Alexa voice control. I can use the sonos voice control, however  when I try and add Amazon Alexa I get the signing into Amazon then repeatedly get try again at he bottom of the app! My Beam, and the 4 other SONOS speaker work fine with alexa. Any ideas ?

Has anyone found a fix to sign in to Amazon to add Alexa? I know this was asked 6 months ago but wondered if there has been any update? As everyone else was saying, get all the way to sign into Amazon then it fails.....

How can be it that you still can’t add Alexa if you happen to use the Amazon shopping app (literally one of the most installed apps in the world)? I understand Sonos software is awful, and I try to set expectations very low, but it’s been over 6 months. Have they just completely given up on even trying to make anything work?

Will there be alexa support in india for sonos speakers ? In future ?

Been trying for days now done all what people say to do reboot the beam reboot the router uninstall Sonos app and reinstall it same as Alexa app and I still can't get Alexa to work on my Sonos beam 

Hi.Just got an Era 300. Sounds great. Enabled Sonos Voice and Alexa from the iOS app.  Have enabled Apple Music as I have a subscription. Alexa confirms it is linked to my Amazon account. There’s only 1 in this household. It respons with correct info re time, date etc. However, I can’t play anything on the Era 300 with Alexa.It gives a message asking me to enable the Sonos skill in the Alexa app and then run device discovery.Have tried both. Including disabling then renabling. I have a Sonos Roam and this works fine on there. Including playing from other sources, Global Player, BBC etc. Anything else I can try? Did search forums but not seen a clear resolution. TY.

Hello. It seems like many on here, for some years I’ve been been happily playing Amazon Music on my 2 Sonos Ones and Era100. I could ask it to play a playlist, and it would continuously play till I asked it to stop. About 2-3 weeks ago it started playing a playlist but then stopped after the first track. Soon after that it stopped playing any music requested by Alexa. I can still request Alexa to do other things e.g. weather forecast, set thermostat, lights etc but as for music, nada.I’ve tried some of the useful advice I’ve found on here, e.g. re-authorizing Sonos to play Music etc, but am a bit nervous about wiping out the few features I still have if I de-install everything. At the moment it feels a bit like I have one expensive Bluetooth speaker and 2 paper weights! Any advice (preferably at idiot level!) would be much appreciated.Regards Steve

Seit ich meine neue FRITZ!Box in Betrieb genommen habe, spielt Alexa über Sonos kein Radio mehr ab. Andere Sprachbefehle z.B. Smart Home dagegen funktionieren aber problemlos.Bin mit meinem Latein und Nerven am Ende. Bitte um Hilfe. Kann es eventuell mit dem Update der Sonos One zu tun haben? Beste Grüße Jens 

I have 3 Sonos One and a Beam. All been fine until last few days.  Now asking either Alexa or Sonos voice to play my music or BBC radio one - says ‘now playing..etc’ but then nothing plays. Have disconnected, reconnected, rebooted etc and the only thing that works is controlling via the app.  very frustrating- any ideas?

I when playing the volume at a low level, Alexa follows the volume level. In my opinion, Alexa needs to be set at a consistent level to be able to utilize her responses. Please provide an update to the app where the volume of the assistant can remain at a consistent level.

Sonos One microphone stopped working.Alexa still announces reminders, yet it does not respond to voice commands. The microphone has been turned off and on; the device has been unplugged and restarted; I even went as far as restoring the device to factory settings (which I have learned may not have been the best idea). I also deleted the Alexa service and then added the service back with the speaker announcing that the service has been “successfully added and the device is ready to use.” Microphone is still dead. 

I have jumped through all the steps and cant get Alexa app on Sonos Move to simply play music. It tells me I need to enable that skill on my device in the Alexa app which i have already done 10 times……..please help before I Launch my speaker out the window

Sonos one not playing any music with Alexa?I've tried restart, factory reset all not making a difference?  Is there a fix for this? TIA

HiI've noticed on the new awful app that when I ask alexa to play anything on bbc sounds on my sonos products that it does play but on the app there is no information of what is playing or any logos. If I play bbc sounds from the app it works fine. I've disconnected my bbc sounds account on sonos and reactivated and disabled the sonos and bbc sounds skill on the alexa app. Any ideas?

I have an ERA 300. I had configured Alexa without any problems. Then one day by chance I did a factory reset on the ERA300 and had to reconfigure the device. Since then I have not been able to configure Alexa. I proceed with the configuration but the procedure blocks me when it goes to match the amazon account. I tried with other smartphones and nothing I can't even get to the configuration.Can you help me?? thanks
