Hi,

I have 2 sonos amps which are connected via ethernet to my router. They work fine. I downloaded the Alexa skill but it cant find Amp 1 or Amp 2.

It does however find Amp 1 TV and amp 2 TV - not sure exactly what they are?

I have disabled wifi on the amps as they are connected to my router via ethernet.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Akhil

Hey @Akhilstyle, I appreciate the quick response.

Thanks for this - I have tried doing this already but no luck. It doesnt find the sonos Amp. Only Amp TV 1 and AMP 2 TV. I wonder if me disabling wifi on the amp has anything to do with it?

Wiring with Ethernet and disabling Wi-Fi shouldn’t really matter. We have identified an issue setting up Amazon Alexa and are currently working on a fix.

I will reply on this thread when there is an update to share.

Thank you for your patience.

Hello @Akhilstyle, welcome back!

I’m sorry to hear that you are having trouble setting up Amazon Alexa for your two Sonos Amp’s.

Please have a look on our Support Article Set up an Amazon Alexa device to control Sonos.

If by doing the above you are still having trouble, have a look at Alexa commands not working on Sonos and more specifically the below Advanced fix:

  1. Open the Alexa app on your iOS or Android device.
  2. Select the More menu in the bottom right.
  3. Go to Skills & Games > Your Skills > Sonos > Disable Skill.
  4. Deregister your Sonos speaker from Alexa by following the instructions on Amazon's website: Deregistering a device.
  5. Enable the Sonos skill again by going back to the Skills & Games > Your Skills > Sonos and choosing Enable Skill.
  6. Once complete, try giving Alexa another command.

I hope this helps.

This is a widespread problem with Sonos with both Alexa and Google   Contacting the support team is a dead end.  https://x.com/sonos/status/1864763043495739438?s=46

it’s working now. They must have done a fix. You disable then enable the Sonos skill in Alexa and it’s working now

So I have 2 SONOS Amps installed on the weekend and they still both show up as TV1 & TV2. Is this normal?

I can’t ‘de-register them’ because they don’t show as registered in my Amazon account. I can delete them from Alexa but every time they get registered they show up as a TV again.

I can’t seem to stream any music from Alexa to them as they just show as ‘Greyed out’.

I am stuck in a loop??
