Amazon Alexa and Sonos

Hello, I just setup my Sonos One today. I've been using an Echo Dot for some time and it continues to work fine. However, during the setup of my One, and currently even if I put my mouth 2 inches from the One and say "Alexa", nothing happens. I can do the same with my Dot, no issue. It just seems like the Mic isn't working or is disabled. Diag number 8102699

ok, I've installed my brandnew Sonos One succesfully (yay!) on my home wifi network, and now I want to setup voice control (Alexa, Google, whatever) on my Sonos One. All the internet sources tell me to simply add the 'Voice service' in the Sonos app (=iOS, latest version), and select 'Alexa'. Problem: when going to 'Services' in the Sonos app, there simply is no 'Voice' option. There is the 'Music' service you can add (which I did: I've added Apple Music), but no 'Voice' service to add... How is this possible? (I've reinstalled the Sonos app multiple times, I've rebooted my iPhone. I've looked for answers online). So... help! Anybody? (btw, I did not have an Alexa account before, but I've created one now. And yes, the Alexa service is available in my country.) So, thank you very much for advicing me what to do.

So i just got an Alexa Show 10 and 5 in the attempt to make my home a “smart” home. In the Alexa app I took on the Sonos Skill and did all the allowing credentials to let Sonos and Alexa communicate. My speakers show up in my app and will turn off lights when i use my 3 Sonos one’s to do voice commands. however when i try to set up music groups in the alexa app i will not recognise my sonos speakers as viable options. Can someone help me? I contacted alexa help and we deleted apps and rebooted but that did not work so they told me its a sonos issue? Nice lets pass the buck!!!!   

My Sonos speakers have stopped “ducking” sound when I give an Alexa command.  It did duck sound until recently.  Now I have to strand next to Alexa and shout to give a command while the Sonos music is playing.  Any ideas?   Thank you

We have had a Sonos One with Alexa for approximately 2 years without any problems, however a few days ago it stopped playing radio stations when asked. It responded to the voice command but then, nothing! it also doesn't respond to the "play next" and "stop" voice commands whilst playing music. Any help gratefully appreciated.

I have a set of Sonos speakers at home, and they are all connected to Alexa and my echo dots work well at home to control them.At work, I have one echo dot, and one Play:1.I *cannot* get the Play:1 at work, to be discovered by Alexa - I follow the instructions to go into the Sonos app on my phone and Add Alexa - it says “Set up your Amazon Echo device to work with Sonos” and there is a “add amazon alexa” button - I click it, and it opens up the Alexa app and takes me to the (already enabled) Sonos Skill page.I have no option to enable this skill - all I can do is disable the skill or click settings.Under settings, my only option is to click Manage Smart Home devices - and I get into the endless loop of trying to have Alexa discover devices, fail and try again.I don’t want to disable the Sonos skill - it took a long time to get all my other Sonos players to connect - I’d hate to have to go through all that again.  Alexa suggests putting my device in “pairing mode” - but I haven’t found

I’m trying to connect my Sonos One and Alexa, but it doesn’t work. I think it’s because the micro isn’t working as Sonos and Alexa seems to be connected, but I don’t know how to turn it on. There is no voice service option on my Sonos app available, I can only add the streaming services. I tried to reinstal, reset, touched the micro butten on sonos thousand times - not working. In my Alexa app it seem to be connected with Sonos, the Sonos skill is enebled, however there is written “Alexa on this phone (Android) - online” and then “My room - the sonos”, which is enebled. Should “my room” be online? How can I do it? If I’m looking for other devices there is: “no other devices found”.Also sometimes the Sonos app can’t connect to the Sonos...is there anything I can do, so that the app finds the Sonos without problems? It’s really annoying when I have to restart the app 10 times :/Can anyone please help?

Will Alexa be able to work with Napster

I have a Beam with an Amazon Fire TV stick 4K. I have linked the devices in the Alexa app and can switch on tv, start playing programs (e.g. "play Peaky Blinders”) and all works well (TV will switch on and play the requested program). But if I cannot just open apps (e.g. “open Netflix” or “open Prime Video”); when I do instead of going to the home page of the app it takes me to the search page of Fire TV with the app I asked for highlighted. Everything else seems to work and the “open app” commands work if I use the Fire TV remote. Clearly the command has been heard and sent via the Beam to the Fire TV stick, but it does not get as far as opening the requested app. Am I missing something?

Recently with no changes from my side, Alexa stopped working and says it can't communicate if I try to call it. The Mic is definitely on and the Sonos system is working fine otherwise.I already restarted my Beam, and I removed the device and skill via Alexa app, but now if I try to de-register Alexa via the Sonos app I get an error "there was a problem removing your account".Connectivity (i.e.wifi and internet) are fine, does anyone know how I can resolve this?  

So I'm thinking of getting a couple of Sonos Ones and the Beam. But I use Tidal. Does Alexa work with Tidal?

I recently added two Sonos play 1 speakers to my system. Specifically I paired them with my Beam for surround sound. Install went well and speakers work great for TV and music, however Alexa (native to Beam) is now offline. Alexa app shows the beam to be "Offline". Do I lose Alexa capabilities when linking Play 1 speakers to Beam for surround sound permanently or can I get Alexa back? If so... how?

Hi I’m having real trouble changing my amazon Alexa account on my Sonos one speaker to another. Even though I have de-registered the device in the account I want to disable it from! I have also signed out of all of the apps and web pages associated to that account and entered the new account details into Sonos, however it will continue to register itself against the old amazon account. it’s worth mentioning I have followed the instructions on this site and that hasn’t worked either.  It’s driving me crazy!!!

The scenario is this.All of my other Alexa devices respond to “Play xxxx”. As Apple music is the default then Apple music is used. My Sonos 1 will play music from apple music via the Sonos App. My Sonos 1 plays music via airplay  My Sonos 1 will not play music via the Alex voice command responding with words like “Hmmm First enable the skill for your Sonos one in your Alex app then ask me to discover devices” The skill is enabled hence it works on all other amazon devices.  Discovering new devices result in “No new devices found”Any ideas?Thanks

I lice in Seitzerland and bought a Sonos One being led to believe that I could use Alexa. Now I see I cannot use Alexa making it a Play 1 that I have paid 50 chf more for. I either want 50 chf back or a solution. This is fraud.

According to previous topics it is possible to turn off the Alexa ‘wake up’ sound in 10.0. However, I can’t find this setting in 10.5.Help please.

My system has worked perfectly dince i first installed it, but over the past few weeks I've lost the ability to call up radio stations. for example saying “Alexa play Heart Kent" when I was in the Kitchen to my Dot in the kitchen would result in my kitchen Sonos speakers bursting into life with Heart Kent. Now when I say Alexa play Heart Kent, I am told "I could not find a station named Heart Kent", If i say Play heart kent in the Kitchen again im told "I could not find a station named Heart Kent" If I say Play Tunein then the last station I tuned into is played through the dot, if I say play tunein in Kitchen it plays over my kitchen speakers This is really annoying  so any advice would be appreciated. Also I am running Sonos over its own network (plugging one speaker into the router)  

According to earlier post this personality was added in version 10 however I am unable to locate it in my current version of the iOS app. This is a problem for me as I really need to disable the chime and can find no references to it in the current version of the app. All software is up-to-date. Alexa skill has been disabled and re-enabled.  Thanks 

Hello everyone. I have two Play 1's and a new Sonos one I got for christmas. Here is my setup. I have the two Play 1's setup in my living room and the Sonos one setup in my kitchen for Alexa & music. Both rooms are beside each other so it's nice to have a surround sound like music on the main floor of the house. Using the Sonos app I can control the volume of the music in either room and I've also created a group to have the music streaming on all three speakers at the same time and can control the volume as a group which is great. Here is my suggestion for a feature I would like. I would like to be able to control the volume of Alexa's voice. For example if we have low music playing in the back ground and you ask Alexa something you can barely hear her. If the volume is say mid level you can hear her anywhere in the room. So when were done listening to low level music I turn the volume up for the kitchen so that if we need anything from Alexa we can hear her properly. The only

I have a Move that I would like to work with Alexa. In the Alexa app I can see the Move and it says it is enabled. In the Sonos App I can see where it says the Move has Alexa enabled. When I say “Alexa, play a song”, Alexa (through the Move)says that I need to enable the Move In the Alexa app. If I go into the Alexa’s app and tell it to play the song on the Move, the Alexa app indicates the music is playing but the Move does not make any sound. The Move works fine if I play music through the Sonos app. All of this is through my WiFi. This is at my weekend place. At my main home I have a Beam set up with Alexa and it works just fine.Any thoughts or advice?

Recently purchased the Sonos One Gen 2. I don’t think the microphone has worked since I brought it. It does not light up. On have it in stereo mode with another One Gen 1. I in paired the two to see if that would work, but it didn’t. I have tried tapping the button on the top and nothing happens. The other buttons on top work fine. The other one works perfectly. Please help.

I’ve only had my Sonos One for a couple of weeks. Loving the sound quality and the option to add more speakers in future, but really struggling with a recurring problem…Usually ocurrs when I’ve not used the Sonos One for a few hours, such as first thing in the morning. I came back from holiday to find that once again Alexa breaks my Sonos groups (third or fourth time). I have 5 Sonos speakers grouped through Sonos (group created from ‘Living Room’ paired speakers). I also have the same speakers selected as preferred speakers under the Alexa group ‘Living Room’. However if I tell Alexa to ‘play music in the living room’ it only plays through one speaker (bizarrely one named ‘Dining room’ although it is part of the group) and if I go into the Sonos app the group is broken. If I just tell Alexa to ‘play music’ then it only plays through the Alexa device (so the preferred speaker setting is meaningless?) So far I have checked for an update (there are none), renamed the living room speakers in case there is a conflict, disabled and reenabled the Sonos skill, rerun device discovery (after every change), set the living room speaker as the only preferred speaker (which then works through Alexa) but any Sonos group created is still broken by Alexa. Hi, as Alexa already supports India and it does it wonderfully, I am not so sure why SONOS ONE only allows certain countries in the setup and not all as available in Alexa. Is there a technical limitation to use Alexa on Sonos ? i would love to see it expand to India and would like to know if that’s a plan already

Hello Sonos Community I need some help please. I am based in the UK and have a Sonos Play One linked upto an Alexa Dot. I have been using via my Amazon Prime account the Tunein service to enable me to listen to BBC Radio stations. "Alexa play Radio 2 in the Kitchen" etc etc. However, due to some dispute between the BBC and Tunein they have pulled the BBC from their service which means I can no longer access BBC Radio stations through my Alexa and into my Sonos. Just looking at alternatives and wondered if there is a way to connect say my iPhone via Bluetooth to my Sonos Play One so that via the BBC Iplayer app I could still stream BBC Radio stations through my Sonos Any ideas or alternative solutions greatly received Thank You Brian
