Amazon Alexa and Sonos

According to earlier post this personality was added in version 10 however I am unable to locate it in my current version of the iOS app. This is a problem for me as I really need to disable the chime and can find no references to it in the current version of the app. All software is up-to-date. Alexa skill has been disabled and re-enabled.  Thanks 

Hello everyone. I have two Play 1's and a new Sonos one I got for christmas. Here is my setup. I have the two Play 1's setup in my living room and the Sonos one setup in my kitchen for Alexa & music. Both rooms are beside each other so it's nice to have a surround sound like music on the main floor of the house. Using the Sonos app I can control the volume of the music in either room and I've also created a group to have the music streaming on all three speakers at the same time and can control the volume as a group which is great. Here is my suggestion for a feature I would like. I would like to be able to control the volume of Alexa's voice. For example if we have low music playing in the back ground and you ask Alexa something you can barely hear her. If the volume is say mid level you can hear her anywhere in the room. So when were done listening to low level music I turn the volume up for the kitchen so that if we need anything from Alexa we can hear her properly. The only

I have a Move that I would like to work with Alexa. In the Alexa app I can see the Move and it says it is enabled. In the Sonos App I can see where it says the Move has Alexa enabled. When I say “Alexa, play a song”, Alexa (through the Move)says that I need to enable the Move In the Alexa app. If I go into the Alexa’s app and tell it to play the song on the Move, the Alexa app indicates the music is playing but the Move does not make any sound. The Move works fine if I play music through the Sonos app. All of this is through my WiFi. This is at my weekend place. At my main home I have a Beam set up with Alexa and it works just fine.Any thoughts or advice?

Recently purchased the Sonos One Gen 2. I don’t think the microphone has worked since I brought it. It does not light up. On have it in stereo mode with another One Gen 1. I in paired the two to see if that would work, but it didn’t. I have tried tapping the button on the top and nothing happens. The other buttons on top work fine. The other one works perfectly. Please help.

I’ve only had my Sonos One for a couple of weeks. Loving the sound quality and the option to add more speakers in future, but really struggling with a recurring problem…Usually ocurrs when I’ve not used the Sonos One for a few hours, such as first thing in the morning. I came back from holiday to find that once again Alexa breaks my Sonos groups (third or fourth time). I have 5 Sonos speakers grouped through Sonos (group created from ‘Living Room’ paired speakers). I also have the same speakers selected as preferred speakers under the Alexa group ‘Living Room’. However if I tell Alexa to ‘play music in the living room’ it only plays through one speaker (bizarrely one named ‘Dining room’ although it is part of the group) and if I go into the Sonos app the group is broken. If I just tell Alexa to ‘play music’ then it only plays through the Alexa device (so the preferred speaker setting is meaningless?) So far I have checked for an update (there are none), renamed the living room speakers in case there is a conflict, disabled and reenabled the Sonos skill, rerun device discovery (after every change), set the living room speaker as the only preferred speaker (which then works through Alexa) but any Sonos group created is still broken by Alexa. Hi, as Alexa already supports India and it does it wonderfully, I am not so sure why SONOS ONE only allows certain countries in the setup and not all as available in Alexa. Is there a technical limitation to use Alexa on Sonos ? i would love to see it expand to India and would like to know if that’s a plan already

Hello Sonos Community I need some help please. I am based in the UK and have a Sonos Play One linked upto an Alexa Dot. I have been using via my Amazon Prime account the Tunein service to enable me to listen to BBC Radio stations. "Alexa play Radio 2 in the Kitchen" etc etc. However, due to some dispute between the BBC and Tunein they have pulled the BBC from their service which means I can no longer access BBC Radio stations through my Alexa and into my Sonos. Just looking at alternatives and wondered if there is a way to connect say my iPhone via Bluetooth to my Sonos Play One so that via the BBC Iplayer app I could still stream BBC Radio stations through my Sonos Any ideas or alternative solutions greatly received Thank You Brian

I know that this has been discussed before, and that due to the One (Gen 1) not having Bluetooth there was no pairing with the Echo Wall Clock, however, given that the new One (Gen 2) has a BLE chip, I’m wondering if there’s a way to connect the two of them.  Has anyone had any success getting this to work? 

Am I allowed to swear in here? Seriously, I’ve gone through all the steps multitudes of times and many of us know how much time it takes do do even a single cycle of resetting sonos controller and alexa etc. It will work for maybe 2 days and then the whole thing starts again! Why can’t Sonos FIX THIS?? Now it seems worse with the last update - as if that was even possible. Now when I try to use the sonos app it tells me one of my speakers is disconnected on an black screen with a ‘room settings’ icon - when I try to press that it simply loops back to the same screen with no results. The only option is to reset the controller. Great - that loops back to you having to log in again and either connect to an existing group or set up new. When you connect to the existing group it recognizes it just fine but then surprise surprise, it sends you back to the black screen saying one of your speakers is diconnected and the whole cycle starts again. Until recently Alexa would play BBC Radio 4 and 6 music on request.  Now when I ask for radio 4, it plays an American station.  When I ask for Radio 6 Music, it selects various BBC stations, but not the one I want.  I’ve tried many permutations for the request.  I see some comments online about Alexa not working with BBC sounds and no longer working with TuneIn, but my Alexa does play BBC radio stations, just not the ones I request! Many thanks in advance,Andy

Alexa doesn't respond on the Beam. Help!!!!

Hi all, My Beam is great. I can turn my TV on and off with it by saying, “Alexa, family room on/off” My issue is that I’ve just installed two Philips Hue bulbs in wall fixings. My other Philips Hue bulbs in the house work with my other Alexa devices. I just say, “Alexa, Sitting Room On/Off” and they turn on and off. When I ask the Beam to do this it responds, “Did you mean Family Room?” When I say, “No,” it responds, “Sorry, I didn’t find a device called Sitting Room.” Any ideas before I murder Alexa?

Hi, i set up my Beam with two Play1s. It is a new Beam. The pairing works fine and music plays and even voice from TV out is ok. One problem, when i click on the Beam microphone button, there were NO REACTIONS whatsoever. No microphone light turna on and no voice heard from the Beam. It is as if that button is faulty. Asked Sonos through messenger and sent report. They say voice not available in Brunei. BUT, the button is totally not working and not lighting UP. HELP !!!!

OK. Help / ideas needed please. Room 1 has a Play:1 and an Echo Dot. Room 2 has a Play One (with Alexa built in). Music comes from a Spotify Family premium account. When playing music from Spotify in one room no problem, but starting when asking to play something in the other room, the first room stops. All Sonos are on the same network / account, however in an attempt to fix this I have already reset the Play One and registered with a separate Amazon account which is linked to a separate Spotify user. Any ideas on how to solve this. Do I need to somehow put the Sonos in Room 2 on a separate Sonos user as well. Surely there must be a solution to this as I can't believe it's a unique problem. Any help gratefully received.

Just recently when I ask Alexa to “Play planet rock” it comes back with “here’s a station you might like xxxx from Amazon music. What’s gone Wrong?

Not sure if this goes in here but I am having difficulty getting the SiriusXM skill to work on our new Sonos Move. If I start playing from the Sonos app, it works fine. Ask our Echo Dot or Sonos One, works fine. When I ask our Move "Alexa, play Alt Nation on SiriusXM" I get the following response: "To listen to Meghan's SiriusXM go to the Alexa app top enable the skill and link your account" Where Meghan is my wife. The skill is enabled and I am signed into our SiriusXM account. Not sure what is going on here, disabled and re-enabled the skill to no avail. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks

Every few days my beam stops working woth Alexa it’s very frustrating I delete devices and re add them it works for a few days then stops again

After updating to sonos 10.2, Alexa has stopped playing radio via Tunein and amazon music. The request is repeated back to confirm but then nothing plays. I have tried disabling the skill in Alexa app, but then I could not re-enable. I removed Alexa voice control from each sonos one and then added it back which also re-enabled the skill in Alexa, but no change. Any suggestions?

It seems like some new update crashed the control of Spotify via Alexa. I thought maybe I am the only one bur I read on Amazon that other users are having the same problem. Whenever I try to tell Alexa to skip the song and go to next it says ” I cannot skip the song on Sonos” When I say pause or stop it just does noting at all. This is useless! Echo dots are working fine so it can't be Amazon. That's not how a 200$ device should behave. Some testing before updates would be appreciated. Seems like the skill stopped working. Please fix.

I recently bought a Sonos Beam. Configuration was Ok. I had setup Spotify as a music stream service but when I say for examnple “Alexa, play songs by Michael Jackson”, Sonos beam responds “Hmm, to do that first enable the Sonos Beam skill in the Alexa app, then say ‘Alexa discover my devices’” I can´t find the Sonos Beam Skill in Alexa Skills. I already have the Sonos skill enabled.

Until very recently i have been able to use the voice command 'alexa, stop music in the living room' when playing music from my library (off my NAS). All other commands such as resume, skip, volume up, etc all still work. The stop command still works for other streamng services such as radio and amazon music. Tried alternate commands to stop such as pause, freeze, halt but nothing works My system is a mixture of echo dots connecting to a zp100, play 1 and play 5. All used to work fine and now all have the same issue I have tried disabling the sonos skill and then setting it back up again but no joy. Anyone else have the same issue or know what the fault is? thanks

Connected a Beam to a Samsung mu6400 40 inch TV via HDMI/ARC and installed Alexa. Beam works as well as it does on my other Sonos players/amp - with streaming services and local NAS Alexa seems to work OK - its my first use of this. The TV remote vol up/down works with the soundbar but shows 'device input' on the screen when I change volume. I tried to switch on TV with Alexa - OK and change volume - again OK. The problem is that, after issuing an Alexa command, the Samsung ( standard or smart ) remotes volume/mute buttons stop working. Only way to get working again is to switch the TV off/on. I've checked and even when the only command to Alexa is something unrelated to the TV e.g. "what's the weather", as long as the TV is on, the remote volume control stops working. NB: anynet + / HDMI-CEC is enabled on the samsung; there are no other HDMI devices attached to the TV. Even when the remote is not working, I can still change the Beam volume OK using the app (IOS ). Hi, I've 2 sonos one, configured in a room. On same network i've 2 echo dot. Alexa is so sloooooow to respond from sonos one,barely unusable. On amazon echo dot, connected on same wifi is working correctly. Anyone else has noted this issue or have any suggestion or workaround? Thanks

Just to say I have upgraded to the hd and uhd and the sound from my sonos system is now even more incredible. Definitely recommend
