I have two Sonos ones and have never been able to control Spotify using Alexa.  I can play spotify on the Sonos through both the Sonos and Spotify app.  However if I say ‘Alexa play spotify’ the response I get is “Here is spotify, sorry that device is offline”

I have removed Alexa off both Sonos devices, disabled the spotify skill and then re-added everything.  Still not working.  I bought the Sonos One for the Alexa feature and its not working… grrrrr.  My son just bought an echo and Spotify works perfectly on it.

Can anyone help fix this please.

Hi

I don’t use Spotify so I can provide an answer. However, if you do not get a response after 8 hours I’d call Sonos Tech Support for an answer.

Cheers!

Hi

‘Alexa, Play Spotify’ isn’t a correct command, please see:   https://support.sonos.com/s/article/3514?language=en_US

As a test, can you please try ‘Alexa, Play Soft Jazz’.  Please let us know how you get on.

Thanks for your replies.  Alexa will not let me control music at all I.e pause, skip etc.  I’ve tried the commands as per the info on their website and none of them work.  Even the Alexa app says I should be able to say “Alexa play Spotify”.  There is definitely something wrong.

Make sure all your devices in the Alexa app have unique names.

They do all have unique IDs.
I just asked Alexa to play Bruno Mars and The response Alexa gives me is “sorry that device is offline”

Any request for Spotify and that’s the response “the device is offline”

Hi

Can you open the Alexa App in a Browser ( https://alexa.amazon.co.uk/ or  https://alexa.amazon.com

and under Settings click on any device that is shown as offline.  With regard to @jgatie suggestion, this applies to devices AND Groups in Alexa - they each have to be unique.

Thanks UK Media.  I tried that and all devices are showing as being online.

Can you confirm that you have added the same Spotify account to both Alexa and Sonos as Music Services?
