Amazon Alexa and Sonos

I have the sonos move speaker which I registered in alexa app. However I cannot make it play simultaneously with my echo dot 4gen using “combine speakers” feature. When I choose this option only echo dot shows up in the list. When I choose “sonos move” group I cannot select both speakers - it is either or.But when I go to “devices” I can see echo dot AND sonos in the list. Any body has any idea? Appreciate any help… :)

Hello,I have being years and there is no update on new languages from Sonos on the Sonos Arc. I really do not understand why. Portuguese is native in Alexa. If you ask Alexa in Sonos Arc if she speaks Portuguese she answer yes and it is only a matter of configuration. But the app of Alexa does no give language to be configured for sonos and in the sonos app there is no Portuguese.What is happening. I love my sound bar but Im thinking to change as I need to have an alexa speaker in the same room just because of this issue. Please do not answer me showing the language status page, because I look that and nothing changes in the last 3 years. I want to know if there is any real intention to have Portuguese open as an Alexa language? If not, why? What is the position from Sonos about new languages.hope you guys can help me understand what is happening. I´m to buy a sub and some other things, but I will not do if I don´t know what is the future for those functionalities.

I've had Sonos for over a decade. Started with a Play:5. Decent enough. Definitely not audiophile and doesn't compare to my B&W CDM 9NT speakers, nor do I expect it to, but I did hook a Sonos Connect up to that system for the better audio quality of those speakers. I also eventually got some Play:1's, a Playbase, a Sub, and a Sonos One.Sonos eventually rendered my old system incompatible with itself. The older Play:5 and Connect are not compatible with the other newer speakers. If I try to play through all of them on the legacy app, the sound keeps dropping out. Their solution is to buy more of their stuff and junk my old perfectly working $500 Play:5 and both of my $350 Connects. Yes. That is over $1,000 in equipment they want me to junk.Well, with the Echo, you can take the 1/8" jack and output audio to any type of amp and speaker. I live in Sint Maarten in the Caribbean most of the year.  I would like to be able to stream Alexa through my Sonos Move, and bought it specifically because it was, “alexa enabled.” However, once I got it set up, I’ve found that Alexa does not work on the sonos in Sint Maarten.  My amazon devices work fine, but don’t have the cordless capabilities that the Move has.  Any guidance is greatly appreciated.

Guys I have the following routine running with my Sonos One pair(I have two Sonos One namely Sonos One Left, Sonos One Right)When I say the voice command the routine does the following: Set volume to 1: Works Perfect Says a phrase: Works Perfect Turns Off the Master Bedroom Light - Works Perfect Starts playing music for 15 min on Spotify - Works Perfect Issue the Alexa Stop Music command to stop playing the music - Works Randomly. When it is not working, the music keeps playing after the 15 minutes until the playlist is finished. This has been driving me crazy for a while now. I have changed step 5 in stopping the music but again it worked randomly. It is like for a reason step 5 is missed or not executed at all. 

I have a 4th group in my Sonos app that plays speakers in our ceilings that are connected to the port through a second amp.  Works fine when using Sonos, but cannot get the Alexa app to cause anything to play on that group.  Is there a common answer I’m missing?

My existing system has a Beam, a sub-woofer, three sonos ones set up in 3 groups, plus an external amp connected to the port that connects to multiple ceiling speakers that were in the house when we moved in.  I can use sonos to play in the “house” group (the existing home speakes) as they show up as a group in Sonos controller.  However, Alexa doesn’t recognize that group. Does anyone have a recommendation for how I add that group to my Alexa?  Thanks in advance. John 

I have an issue which I thought I had sorted out last night by reading a really helpful post on the community.This morning a related issue but different outcome had presented itself.Basically I was getting no sound through the soundbar so turned off the HDMI-CEC controller in settings on the FireTV Cube audio visual settings.When I turned on the TV this morning I had sound through the surround speakers, no sound through the beam and sound through the TV speakers.The only way to fix it was to unplug the HDMI lead from the FireTV Cube, turn the beam off and then back on and plug the cube HDMI back in.After a couple of minutes the sound disappeared again so I turned the Beam off for 5 minutes and since I turned it back on there has been sound.This has happened a number of times since I installed the Cube on Thursday but there must be a technical reason for this.Can anyone offer any advice please.

We have a Sonos One and a Sonos SL paired in stereo, these are controlled with commands  by an Amazon Echo Dot. This set up has been working perfectly for a long time now, but the other day it started to play up, on asking Alexa to play for example Radio 2, it would only play it on the Echo dot and not the Sonos. Nothing had been changed in the set up, we unplugged the Sonos speakers and echo dot rebooting them a few times, that didn’t work. I didn’t set the system up, we got someone in to do it, but hes no longer available. We switched them on this morning and they are sort of working again, but before when we gave the echo dot an instruction the reply always came via the Sonos speakers, it now comes from the eco dot and not the speakers, ie... Alexa play radio 4, echo dot replys playing BBC  Radio 4, and the station comes through on Sonos speakers about 6ish seconds later. I have purchased the Sonos Move to replace our Echo in the Kitchen. Very impressed with the sound. I do have one issue…. When we set timers on Alexa and when the timer alarm goes off, the alarm is very quiet. I’ve looked through both the Sonos and Alexa apps to see if the volume can be turned up and I can’t find anything.  Can this actually be done? I hope so as I don’t want to return the Move for a refund for something that should be quite simple to adjust and do.

I have two Sonos Ones, both with Amazon alexa enabled. Have had no problems for a year. Over the past month, now when I ask Alexa “play country music”, she starts streaming from Amazon, plays the intro commercial like “hello this is country star x, your listening to top country heat radio”… then repeats the same intro over and over and never actually plays music.  I have (1) removed all Sonos devices from Alexa.amazon.com. (2) disabled the Alexa sonos skill, (3) turned off the Alexa voice service in each Sonos, (4) then went back thru the entire setup to re-enable Alexa. Alexa works, will respond to anything I ask, but gets stuck playing any music from Amazon. thoughts on why this new issue is popping up on multiple devices?

This is really annoying. All the topics I check out seem to be marked as “This topic has been closed for further comments.” And most are several years old. In any case, my situation si that I have a Sonos Arc with my TV, and I have a pair of Sonos 1 in the living room, and I have 4-5 Alexa Echo devices aroune the hose. I have created a group called “Everywhere” that I thought inclueded all devices. But I cannot get audio to play on ALL the devices when I say, “Alexa, play [song title] on Everywhere Group.” I get only the Alexa devices or only the Sonos devices. Any suggestions on getting voice command to work on initiating the playback of the same music selection on ALL of the devices simultaneously?

I’ve been trying to get that both speakers (Echo dot and Sonos roam) sound in the same room, thought no success. The Amazon Alexa app says is not compatible both speakers. Is there a good trick or tip or guide to get both sounding in the same room? The thing is that before I bought the Sonos roam, I used to play music in a shelf speaker (audioengine A5+) connected to the 3.5 mm mini plug in the echo dot. The room where I want to pair both speakers (echo dot and roam) is quite big and my idea is to to complement the other side of the room with the Sonos Roam. 

When I’m using TuneIn the “alexa, switch off” command doesn’t work. I have to use another skill like Spotify to then be able to use the switch off command.I then wanted to use another radio service provider but TuneIn is the only one that’s available and can’t add any others.What must I do to fix this?

Yo fellow Sonos nerds!Really annoying one here, can’t seem to find anything online regarding, may be because the Blink doorbell is fairly new...here goes nothing…Have just purchased the Amazon Blink doorbell and set everything up and all is well, apart from the fact that it seems to be announcing on every single Sonos device in my house and I seem to have no control over disabling.From what I’ve found out on the web, I should be able to go into Alexa > Devices > Cameras > Blink doorbell > Announcement devices. And from here should be able to select/de-select my devices, unfortunately though only an old Amazon Echo that I had years back shows up on the list, no Sonos devices to be found.Any help or advice on this would be mint! Thanks!

I have a sonos connect that I am attempting to control with Alexa. “Alexa play WXYZ” will cause Tunein (my default service) to play the requested station on my Sonos Connect (my default speaker). Recently, “Alexa stop” results in either no response from Alexa, or causes Alexa to reply “I can not pause”. I have tried rebooting my alexa device, and also tried disabling the sonos alexa skill, and re-enabling it. My sonos system version as reported by my Android app is 14.10

Can Sonos system be controlled by Echo Show 15? Is the S2 app available on Echo Show 15?

We know sonos is VERY slow on making alexa and google i) available in other locations (even if in english) and ii) in local language.but today all of the sudden the sonos skill just disappeared from the amazon skill store.i can install alexa on my beam, she will say hello, but when i call the service, the beam goes into listening mode for a bit and nothing happens. anyone else facing the same issue?

My Move has been playing music through its built-in Alexa fine since I got it a couple years ago, but recently (last couple months) will not pause or stop the music.  It will still skip tracks, volume up/down, etc. but no way to stop the music without turning the Move power off.  I tried disabling/re-enabling the SONOS skill in Alexa and rebooting things to no avail.  It is VERY annoying seeing as how it used to work fine for years….and my network setup (router, etc) has not changed in that time.

I found several posts related to this, but no answers how to make it work. I have a solution that I would like to share:ProblemAlexa routine will stop if Alexa is asked to say something (Good Morning phrase, flash briefing, weather, etc.). This only happens when running a routine on a SONOS (or any other non-Amazon) speaker.  SolutionAs a work around you can use and IFTTT trigger to run another routine in parallel. To stop things happening at the same time, you can add a time delay to your original routine. See examples below of how this works pragmatically. The solution is a workaround, not an ideal solution. However, I would rather have a higgldy piggldy workaround rather than the function no longer working as I want better audio than an Echo! Before:- Routine would stop after bracketed actionWorkaround:- Subroutine is run and delay is added IFTTT Subroutine:- 

Hi allI have a 6 Sonos One plus 1 Move setup at home. Started building that in 2018 because it integrated all room audio from Spotify perfectly with Alexa all my smart home needs. Everything has worked smoothly for almost 5 years.Last weekend I went to disable Alexa from my speakers to troubleshoot a Spotify playback issue. Disabling & enabling Alexa has been a trivial matter during my 5 years of using Sonos. This time the matter escalated however. Alexa can not be enabled on any of my speakers anymore.I only see “Alexa is not available in your country” error message now. Has anyone seen this problem lately or better yet… solved it?

Is there a good way to tell it to play a radio station with a non-english name? I want to keep the devices language to English. With google, I could at least spell it letter by letter, which it doesn't seem to support here. Is there a way of giving a radio station a nickname? Is there a way of making a list of presets? Any other ideas?I really would have preferred using Sonos voice, but it's even worse in this context. Google, doesn't have Audacy.Thanks  

Hi,I have an Alexa home theatre set up in my campervan,It uses 2x Echo Dot (3rd gen) and a Fire TV Cube 4k.I can request music from Amazon Music to play in stereo through the Echo Dots and also stream the audio from my Fire TV Cube in stereo to the Echo Dots when I'm watching Netflix. It's all connected via WiFi to my 4G router in the van and works great but I'd like to improve the sound quality, especially if I open the back doors to play music outside.  The Echo Dots work ok but are obviously quite small so can only do so much in terms of sound quality. The obvious upgrade would be to switch to the full Amazon Echo units instead of the Echo Dots, but the full Echo units run on 18v and that would require a voltage converter to get to this voltage. Instead, I noticed that the Sonos Move units have a built-in battery, and are Alexa Enabled.  They look a decent size and would alow me to either put them on the Sonos hook wall mount to watch TV and play Amazon music when inside the van, or

HiI have a beam and a few sonos 1’s (1 voice 5 not) I added a roam to the system setup went perfect and alexa responded from the roam .. great ! Problem was the roam would not respond to any voice command that was sonos related ( e.g play radio) but would respond to native amazon commands (e.g what’s the weather ) None of the fixes on here worked at all my roam was brain dead !Now the fix is real interesting and may only affect a few sonos users as this was a sort of Amazon issue I have 2 amazon accounts and use the switch account command on alexa to switch between the two accounts (different shopping lists etc), Sonos Beam supports the switch account function great ! However this is where the problems could start :-if you try to set up the roam while the beam is in the different account to the one you normally use with sonos the above error occurs ( brain dead roam). The fix is :-deregister the failing device in the alexa app delete the failing device in the alexa app remove the voice
