Amazon Alexa and Sonos

I have Amazon Dot connected to my Sonos Playbar and pair of Play 1's. I have an Amazon music account. Normally I can ask Alexa to play, for example, Roxy Music on Living Room and it will play through my Sonos. Today if I ask the same Alexa says it cannot find music by Roxy Music. If I ask it to play Roxy Music without saying on Living Room it will play through the Dot with no problem!.. Odd thing is that if I ask Alexa to play Radio 1 on living room then it works fine? Everything was working perfectly yesterday... Any ideas?? Thanks in advance

So I have finally everything set up the way I want it, walk in the house and say ONE command to Alexa, and everything turns on (Smart plugs, My Routine in Smartthings that turns on music in the living room through my Sonos + hue lights and I set up a group in Alexa to also turn on my smart plugs (patio lights, xmas tree, other non-hue lights) + scenes for the hue lights. So, everything is good but I want to know if there is anyway where I can set a specific song to play in this scene/group/routine situation I have going on??? I have seen quite a few things discussed here about how Smartthings has basically killed the integration it used to have with Sonos but I've also seen people recently saying they DO have there Sonos integrated with Smartthings so I just wanted to ask the question. A strange thing happened last night. Put my two kids to bed and one started music on her Play1 (they like to fall asleep to music). This was done in the normal manner using the app. Music played as expected. The other daughter then asked for some Xmas tunes, so searched and started playing a Xmas album from our music library, again in the normal way using the app. The Xmas music was a bit loud so tried to turn it down using the iPad physical buttons. The volume indicator in the Sonos app moved as expected but no change was actually made to the volume of the music coming from the speaker. I tried a few times with no effect. The app then locked up and was not responding to anything at all. The Xmas music then stopped on its own. I decided to close the app down (double click home button and swipe up as usual on iPad) and try again. When I reopened the app the room had completely disappeared from room list. It was also not listed on My Sonos system in settings. This had no effect on my oth

Sonos One Alexa does not work as well as Echo Dot -- does not respond as quickly and sometimes not as accurate -- anyone see this behavior?

Have got my new Sonos One but set up was super challenging and I cannot get the Sonos Alexa Skill to work. I can get Alexa to "play jazz in the kitchen" but cannot get her to "Play Adele". If I search for Adele through Amazon Music on Sonos Controller all works perfectly but if I ask Alex to "play Adele" she tells me "Your Amazon Music Marketplace is not configured correctly for this device"......GRRRRR super frustrating!!!

When I say "Alexa, mute [room name]," the volume goes down for about 2 seconds, then switches back to full volume. Same result if I say "Alexa, stop [room name]." It won't maintain the command more than a fleeting moment. Is my syntax wrong? Anyone have a solution?

I have recently purchased a Sonos Play 1 and I was wondering how to bluetooth enable it? If I buy an Echo dot and pair it with my Play 1, when I play movies on my laptop will it come out of the Echo dot speakers or my Sonos speakers? i.e. can I use the Echo dot's bluetooth to piggyback onto my Sonos and make it bluetooth enabled? Just wanted to say how disappointed i am with the play 1 and so called alexa integration. After all the hype about this new "smart" speaker and how its going to change the game, i bought one on release day even though i have a number of speakers already. Now, i consider the play 1 as poor, no, the play 1 is good, alexa is poor. No napster integration. No playing of local media files. No facility to call other alexa users. No alarms. No reminders. News flashes dont work. Alexa chirps when watching tv too many times. Alexa can tell me what the weather is like though, just in case i cant turn my head and look out of the window. Really poor show from sonos here and what makes it worse is the lack of support giving hard dates when integration for more services is going to occur.

hello, i have a surround system from a pioneer speaker and a bose soundtouch30 i love but want to fill the rest of the rooms up with sonos...is tehre way to intergreat so when i say alexa play a song they will all turn on in sync even the non sonos???

So I have my Sonos network setup as standard with all Sonos devices on my wifi network. It's integrated well with SmartThings and Alexa controls. But I've been thinking about switching to the BOOST network to free up some wifi slowness. I can't find anything saying whether a BOOST setup will or will not work with Alexa and/or SmartThings. Can anyone clarify this? Thanks!

After I set up Alexa through my iPhone, how can I pair it with my phone, so I can play music on my phone through Sonos One?

We've got 4 x Sonos Play:1s dotted throughout the house - usually all grouped together. We bought a couple of the Echo Dots under the recent offer, and have subsequently signed up for a trial Spotify account (having previously been using Deezer as our main streaming service). However, we can't get Spotify to play via Sonos at all (had a little success when we first bought the dots a couple of weeks ago but nothing regular and nothing at all now). So how can I do it? I've made sure that Spotify is the default music app, I've deregistered and reregistered the Sonos skill in the Alexa app to no avail. If I ask Alexa to play something without specifying the room she'll play it on the Echo with no issues (and tells me that she's playing from Spotify). But if I ask her to play something in a certain room (i.e. on a Sonos speaker) she just says 'Sorry - something went wrong'. Please tell me what I'm doing wrong! It's driving me crazy and we need to make a decision whether we carry

To start an Alexa/Sonus home system which should I purchase as the hub - the new Echo Plus or the Sonus One?

I have a sono soundbar and 2 play ones in my front room setup to listen to surround sound movies, this works perfect.. But my sound bar and tv mains lead is behind the flat screan on a Wi-fi switch so this all turns off together witch means the rear play ones can’t be used at all for music because of the way Sonos is setup in this format the play ones need to connect to the soundbar to play any sound. Now my question is if I replace the play ones with the new play ones with Alexa built in would I beable to have them setup the same and would they play without the sound bar

Originally I had envisioned that the integration of Alexa and Sonos would have Alexa handle the voice commands while Sonos would do the work integrating with your music services. Because Sonos is music service agnostic I had hope that they would support Google Play Music. But now, if I'm understanding, Alexa is handling the voice commands AND integration and the Sonos speaker is essentially just acting like a speaker. in other words, it would be up to Amazon to create the Google Play Music integration. I have much less confidence that Amazon will let Google play in their pool. Can anybody offer clarity on who is doing what and whether competitor services (specifically Google Play) are likely to be integrated?

I am in my husband's Amazon Prime 'household' (effectively the account members) and I can see and access both Amazon music and Prime music from the Sonos controller app. However Alexa will not give me access to either Amazon music or prime yet both are streaming sources. What am I doing wrong?

There's a lot of "not currently available" and "this is still a beta release" posted on this subject. But what I want to know is, WILL Alexa ultimately be able to access my LOCAL music library? I mean, is Sonos and Google actively working on this feature? Please throw us a bone...We're still out there you know -- That is, Sonos' original customers. Not everyone gets all their music from Spotify, Pandora etc. When we all first heard about the Alexa integration, we got excited with the thought of accessing our personal music libraries via voice commands. Understanding the technology challenges at hand, we just want to know if this is ultimately still a goal. Won't even hold you to it if the tech hurdles prove too great to overcome. Thank You!

On my echo's, flash briefing cycles through BBC, NPR, NewYorkTimes,CNN,Daily202 and others. When I say "what is my flash briefing" or "what's new" to my Sonos, I get only the first item in my sequence...BBC. Then it thinks it is done. Does Sonos support of flash briefing allow more than one source? Or am I having a problem other Sonos One users aren't seeing?

I realize Alexa is still "public beta," but I wanted to share my experience. When getting the Sonos One's attention after not using it for a while I find I have to say "Alexa" twice. Once I've given it a command, I only have to say "Alexa" once for it to respond. Several commands in a row are responded to immediately. Leaving the room and coming back some time later, I have to say "Alexa" twice to get its attention again. Is anyone else experiencing this?

I use sonos to wake me up with the radio, can Alexa set an alarm on the sonos app for me? Not got Alexa yet so was just wondering.

I have the Sonos One and when I ask Alexa to play music (plays from my Amazon Music account), I've experienced a number of different issues. Not sure if they are related to the same problem. I have no issues getting the Alexa response that it's playing my music on "kitchen" (where Sonos is located), but one of these problems will show up: 1) All I get is a little static and then nothing, no music at all, seems like it tried to start, but something happened, or 2) It starts playing just fine, but then stops after one song, or 3) It starts playing just fine, but transition to next song is odd, like it cuts off the song right before it ends and starts the next one immediately, and may stop after two or three songs, 4) It starts playing just fine, transitions are good, but stops after a few songs are played (playlist has 100+ songs) After it stops, if I go into the Alexa app, it still shows that the music is playing until I click icon and then it shows the music is stopped. When I open my Alexa app (with a Sonos One) and click on the "your Skills" tab, I immediately get a pop-up error message --> "The language you selected does not match your Amazon account settings. As a result, Alexa skills are not available. To get the best Alexa experience, please choose English (Canada) by selecting continue. CONTINUE. When I press continue, it takes me back to the Settings screen and then keeps looping back to the error message above. I'm not able to access my "Your Skills" page. Help please! Thanks!

I've been using the Alexa-Sonos integration for some time now with very successful results. Recently though I've been having trouble altering the volume on the Sonos from Alexa. When I say "turn it up/down in the " I get the response "that command doesn't work on . I get varying results if I say "set the volume to 30% in the ". Often will completely mute or simply not respond. This has been happening for a couple of weeks now and I can't remember changing anything on my side. Since that has started I have also added a paired Play:3 which is now in stereo mode with the other Play:3. (I don't have any other Sonos devices yet). I must admit that pairing it on the Sonos side was easy, but reflecting that pairing on the Alexa app was not so smooth. I didn't want to forget all my smart devices as I have quite a few, so I ended up disabling the existing Sonos Play:3, then adding the new Play:3 pair. Hi I have an echo dot in my kitchen and sonos throughout the house . When I say Alexa to the dot, the volume on all speakers drops until the request is complete. Can I stop this from happening to the speakers located on other rooms (I.e. Those not in the kitchen). Very annoying for listeners in other rooms.

Sonos One setup in my living room and have noticed that it chimes randomly when I'm having a conversation or am speaking on the phone. The living room is nowhere near a TV or radio, and I don't say "Alexa" when I'm speaking unless I want to directly address the unit.
