Amazon Alexa and Sonos

In the past week or so, Amazon have updated the smart home section of the iOS Amazon Alexa App (see screenshots) and there is currently no way to 'forget' existing devices or scenes. That feature has been replaced with an option to enable/disable a device or scene. It’s not as tidy as the previous version of the app in my humble opinion, but I assume that things are not yet complete with the software update at this moment in time. I have now discovered that it is still possible to 'forget' smart home devices and scenes however by going to the online web portal version of the app which is located here for UK users: https://alexa.amazon.co.uk/spa/index.html (note it is perhaps best to access this via a PC, as you may find a mobile browser will try to launch the mobile app instead, albeit there are ways to resolve this which I won’t go into at this time). ...Anyhow, the web portal still has the 'forget' option and so any devices etc. can still be removed or forgotten here. I have tried to ask Alexa to call eg. My husband, it says it can not. I thought it could do this? or this only alexa to alexa at present?

Sonos/Amazon Alexa - Please let those of us that have Mulitiple Sonos Speakers in house when your APP and Alexa intergration is ready for prime time. My Setup - Play 5, PlayBase, Sonos One, 3 Sonos Play-1's, 2 setup as a stero pair. I'm Tired of trying to get my Sonos One to understand commands for other speakers in my house, Setting up Smart Home, adding devices, configuring and configuring things, All to hear Alexa say basically "I can't do that" I am a DIE HARD Sonos fan, as you can tell by my setup, but the Alexa Intergration with other SONOS speakers in a home is no where it needs to be. While your at it, you can Work with DEEZER, so goof ball Alexa can understand my commands to play Deezer through my speakers. Though I'd like this Alexa Sonos-One, Right now, it might just get re-wrapped and give to someone on my Christmas list.

Has anyone else had the problem of being able to control the music (pause, stop, skip tracks, etc) by voice?

I often ask Alexa to play a genre of music to my grouped Play 5 and two Play 1s and whilst it initiates playing an Amazon station, i often find that it will get the end of a song (or having played several songs) and then the music just stops. I'm fairly sure this only started happening since version 8 and also i think it's only happened via a voice command start. I recently bought a bridge so that my speaker furthest from the router is more stable via Sonosnet although the issue was happening before that. I've submitted diagnostic 7991733 Any thoughts anyone?

With my Sonos playing I say to Alexa, "Alexa, stop playing in Kitchen" I almost always get the response "Sorry, cameras do not work on this device" I then have to say "Alexa, stop kitchen" Anyone else experiencing anything similar?

Bought a Sonos One today, for a second home. Have many Sonos products at home, but this is on its own in a holiday home. Disappointed to find out that the Alexa will not play my music collection on my iPad or iPhone unless I copy files up into amazon, or play manually. Appears to really be designed for services rather than local music. Not that I have it here but if my Sonos system had access to my iTunes library would Alexa also not be able to find these? 😞

While playing music on my Sonos one I tried commands to stop playing music but Alexa didn’t respond. Any suggestions?

So I was finally excited to hear that you can enable the Sonos skill on my Echo Dot. Took me a while to figure out why the Echo would not play any music on my Sonos until I read that you have to command it by naming the speaker. For example Alexa play blank blank on Bedroom. Are all Sonos speakers like this? Why can't Alexa just play music on the speaker? I believe if I connect a bluetooth speaker to the Dot it just plays it on the bluetooth speaker. Another complaint that I have is that I can't hear Alexas responses through the speaker. If music is playing I can't hear her respond to me. Like when i ask "alexa who is this?". For one she can barely hear me and two when she does I can't hear her because of the music. When is Sonos going to integrate with the Play 1 seemlessly. IF I buy a voice activated sonos will it operate non voice activated sonos speakers?

So here's the deal. My 10 year old has an echo dot and really loves it. She is really getting into music these days and I wanted to get her a Sonos One to replace the echo dot, because the sound will be much better. I read all over the place about how Alexa's capabilities are limited on the sonos one, but it never really tells you how limited it is. I want the new device to play music from her pandora or Amazon music account (which I understand works fine with sonos one). However, she also uses her dot as a wakeup alarm, story teller, weather forecaster, etc. If I get the sonos one to replace the echo dot, can I still say "alexa, wake me up at 7am tomorrow", or "alexa, sing for me", or "alexa, read me a bedtime story", or "alexa, what's the new for today", etc, etc?

Apologies if I've missed something and it can be done, but I've not seen it in any instructions. i.e. can you pre-setup one or more songs while a song is already playing? Would be really useful, otherwise if you're browsing random songs (not a playlist), then it means you have to be around and ready when a song finishes to set up the next one - and there will always be a gap between songs. I do understand that the Alexa API supports only ten volume steps (1..10). Unfortunately this is not useable with my Sonos One which is too loud on 2 and too low on 1. I therefore suggest to add a „max Alexa volume“ setting to the Sonos app. So that we can map „Alexa volume 10“ to „Sonos volume 50%“ or something similar. Cheers Holger

Hello, I have recently decided to look into Sonos after months of shying away from even looking into how it works etc, so am brand new to the whole thing as well as to this forum. I am going to dive into my question right here and will then post a follow up message with a bit more as to what/why I am asking this (to keep this first post shorter and sweeter. Is there ANY solution out there to take an analogue "line out / aux" signal and broadcast it in such a way that Sonos treats it as a networkable source? Thanks Steve

Today I updated my iOS app and then it updated my One speaker. Now nothing works regarding music services. "Alexa, play 101.1 FM on Tunein radio" - Alexa responds saying playing but nothing happens. Same happens with iHeart, Pandora and other music services. If this is Beta I hate to see Alpha..... Come on Sonos and get these things fixed.

I just learned that this coming month we should see support for Pandora Premium integration (fingers crossed this is true and finally comes to pass - I've been holding my breath for months). My question is if there is any info regarding whether Sonos ONE/Alexa will be supported in this new functionality as well, e.g. Pandora is already supported but will it be possible to ask Alexa to, for instance, play a specific artist or song on a particular speaker group as opposed to just the artist radio that is currently possible?

I have 2 SONOS ONE, Living Room and Bedroom. Bedroom works fine on Alexa commands for lights. Living room keeps replying Dining room not responding, living room not responding. Bedroom ONE works fine on Living and dining room. I have disabled and enable through skills, still no help. I can ask turn off dining room light1, light2 in dining fixture and alexa will reply OK, nothing happens.

Hi I'm hoping the big man will bring me a couple of Echo Dots' for Christmas so that I can start to control my system via voice, until then though I've got an Amazon Fire TV box and an Amazon Fire Stick both with Alexa enabled remotes, can I control my Spotify on Sonos via theses remotes? If so any help on setting up would be appreciated. Thanks

Hello all, I've recently converted from Google Home and Chromecasts to Alexa and Sonos. I've been searching for someone that has my issue and I can't seem to find one entirely similar. I currently have a Playbar and Play:1 in two separate rooms and a single Echo Dot, which controls other devices in my home. I don't think I've ever gotten the Sonos skill to work completely correct. Here are my current issues: - Using Alexa to control Sonos and nothing else seems to work fine. - I can say "Alexa, turn it up in the Living Room", which works and then say, "Alexa, turn off the patio lights", which works, then say, "Alexa, turn it down in the Living Room" to which I get "Living Room isn't responding." - After about 15 seconds I can try the exact command again and get it to work. This really only presents an issue with my Playbar as I can play/pause the TV, then possibly need to adjust the volume. Hello, I have a Sonos One, PLAY:5 (next to a Dot), Playbar, and Connect (for previous speakers). After setting up my news sources, I enjoyed that when I asked Alexa for the news, it played across all of my Sonos speakers. It was beneficial in the morning, while moving from room-to-room. Without notice (or any change to the system), Alexa now only plays the news flash on the One, or on the Dot. Voice commands to play it in other rooms merely results in Alexa starting the news over again. Like many issues others are experiencing, I assume this an Alexa problem, but any insight would be appreciated. Thanks-

I recently got a Sonos One at the same time as the new Echo. I have been comparing the 2 over the last few days as i am unsure which one to keep. The sonos one should win hands down, sound quality is far superior and 90% of the time i use it for music, however there are a few features i would like to see or at least know are on Sonos's roadmap for the sonos one for me to consider keeping it. 1) Mic responsiveness, i have to raise my voice to activate it. The Echo activates at low volume requests. I would be nice to have a feature in the app to control the level of mic sensitivity and let the customer decide the level to set it at. I've also found i have to raise the pitch of my voice when saying "Alexa" to trigger sometimes and its not as good as triggering when speaking normally like the echo is. I can even be in bed next to the unit and say "alexa" at talking volume and it does not activate, 2) Alexa volume control, the sonos does change the volume of the alexa voice when

Sorry if I've missed this conversation, but I'm new to this forum. I've been waiting to purchase a Sonos Play 5 until it's integrated with Alexa, which I thought was coming. I wasn't expecting this integration to be physical as with the new Play One. Rather, I was hoping to be able to tell Alexa on my Echo Dot what to play on Spotify, and the result would be a silent Echo Dot while Spotify is playing on the Play 5 over wi-fi. Is Sonos planning this sort of integration?

I have 3 Sonos speakers in my living room/kitchen/dining room area that I always group. I had them grouped from the Sonos app when I tried out the mute/unmute Alexa commands. The command worked on only one of the speakers. How can I get commands to apply to the entire group?
