I bought myself and my father a sonos one. I set my sonos one up at home after 2 attempts and a factory reset I have got it working I can play music manually through Spotify I can use alexa I can use tune in and I can use the limited skills that sonos allows. I get the impression a lot of the skills such as "routine" and "national rail" etc do not work on sonos yet. This is not a huge issue. It doesn't really hinder my usage but for some reason whenever I open my sonos app which I try to do to see what I am doing differently to my dad I just get a " we cant connect to Sonos" "lets try some things" screen... the "things" do not fix it but I'm not overly fussed as my sonos works and it does what I want it to do. THE BIG ISSUE is my dads. He has the exact same system. I have set it up and factory reset it over 15 times and tried every possible order. I have deregistered everything and restarted. So, I have a premium Spotify account, I have Spotify set as the default music player in Alexa, but Alexa will now only respond with "Your Spotify account does not support streaming on this device." I have run through the process described here: https://en.community.sonos.com/amazon-alexa-and-sonos-229102/sonos-one-not-responding-to-alexa-comands-6793239/index1.html#post16161848 where you reset everything in Alexa and Sonos, but the result is the same: Alexa repeating that, "Your Spotify account does not support streaming on this device." Any help? Anyone? Really frustrating.

Hi, Great to finally get Alexa integration, but so far all the commands it supports seem to be rather clunky, and occasionally don't work. I have realised since having it the only command I really want is "Alexa Transfer to Sonos everywhere". This would enable me to take the thing that is playing locally and push it to every one of the rooms in my house. Naming rooms is fine when you are looking at them, but is it "Basement", "Office" or "downstairs"? Added bonus would be to name groups of speakers. Actually the core app could do with this. Otherwise, just need to get the reliability up in the hand over. The functions should also accept what is playing on my phone's music collection. So "Alexa, play on " should allow you to hear what you have selected on the phone's collection. Not sure if a phone's music collection can be queried in reverse, but it would be nice. Otherwise keep up the good work! Perhaps you can come up with a command I never knew I needed 😉! Bes

Can I use Alexa in Sonos One to control my home theater setup — TV, blu-Ray player, Apple TV and AV receiver. They are currently controlled by a Harmony 700 remote.

Recently added a sonos playbase and is now the main hub and connection to the internet. Previously had a Sonos One with Alexa working perfectly. Went to add my play 1 and one as surround sound but realised that you need a matching pair. I’ve reset the Sonos One but now Alexa function won’t work? Very frustrating help !

Hi all, I have a new system( Sonos one with Alexa) and believe I have set it up correctly however when I say Alexa play music . She says “sorry I could find any music that matches your request” . I have Amazon Prime with Music as my default . Any ideas what I’m doing wrong ? Cheers Rob

Hi! I hope someone can help. I'm trying to figure out how to do multi-room audio and choosing speakers, and Sonos keeps coming up. Currently (and very shortly) I have a Dot in the bedroom, Echo in the front room and Dot in the kitchen. Front-room has a full stereo setup with Amp and surround sound speakers. Bedroom I'd like to sort a basic stereo for the TV that the sound can come out of. Kitchen I'd like a simple speaker. So for multi-room, I was going to 3.5m jack to the stereo in the front room. Bedroom I was going to find a sound-bar or similar (play5?) for the TV and hook up the dot via 3.5m jack. Then the kitchen just use a Play:1 via 3.5m jack. The question is... with this all work without having to always swap inputs on both stereo systems? The whole point of automation is to minimise all that, so I'd love to just ask Alexa to 'play X' and it plays throughout the whole house, but with better sound than the terrible one in the Echo.

I have been told since the anoucment that my investment in Sonos would include Amazon Echo features. Unless I am missing something Sonos has stated that all of my Sonos One are obsolete and I will need to purchase new Sonos Ones if I want Amazon Echo features. Am I missing something? Is this what I just read? Please tell me that my existing Sonos Ones are upgradable?

I have a Sonos Playbar and a Sonos one and there are two behaviors I am curious about. 1) When I group the Playbar and Sonos One, if I pause the TV, the grouping breaks when I resume play. This also happens when I switch to listening to music using Alexa. So, at times, there is some confusion about which device the volume should come out of. 2) If I have these same two devices are grouped, and I raise the volume on the TV (using the remote), only the Playbar volume increases. So I have to use the App instead to increase the grouped volume. Are these 'normal' behaviors or is there a 'fix' for them...or something I should do differently?

So a very new poster to the forums but a user of them and Sonos for 3 or 4 years. Having searched the forums I have been unable to find a more detailed description of how the integration with Alexa works beyond that given in interesting posts like https://en.community.sonos.com/amazon-alexa-and-sonos-229102/sonos-alexa-and-local-nas-stored-music-6791479/index1.html These posts describe the process along the lines of 1 - echo hears you 2- echo sends voice to Alexa servers 3 - Alexa servers translate voice to text 4 - Alexa servers process the request, determining what music to play on what speakers 5 - Alexa sends request to Sonos cloud. 6 - Sonos cloud sends request to your speakers. Steps 1 to 3 seem straight forward, it is after that point that the process is less clear. The Sonos cloud (presumably this is a true cloud service?) cannot directly send the request to the local Sonos device(s) as the local firewall will block an incoming request, so life must be a bit more

When music is playing through any of my Sonos speakers, and someone issues a command to the Echo, all Sonos speakers mute. Is there a way to change this? The idea is great, and I'd be perfectly happy were it set up to mute what's playing in the room with my Echo. But if I'm on my rooftop patio, listening to music, and my wife is in the kitchen and asks Alexa to set a timer, it's annoying to have the music I'm listening to mute as well. I can't seem to find any settings in either the Alexa app, Alexa Sonos Skill settings or Sonos app to control this behavior at all. It's particularly frustrating when you have a four year old who thinks it's hilarious to repeatedly ask Alexa to tell him a joke. Over and over and over again. So when that happens, it's next to impossible for me to enjoy music on my patio. I've just added an Echo Dot to my system so see how it works. I usually listen to BBC 6Music in the kitchen and having trouble with this. If I select BBC6Music from the Sonos app I get a nice clear stream called "BBC Radio 6 Music". If I ask Alexa to "play 6 music in the kitchen" it starts a stream called "225.648 BBC Radio 6 Music UK" which is awful quality and keeps dropping out. Its not network issues as I can switch to the good stream from the app and it works perfectly. Is there a way to get Alexa to choose the stream I want? Any favourites function?

Can you ask Alexa to set an alarm to wake you with radio from spotify? I've tried but Alexa says it does not support this.

I changed amazon accounts and Alexa is "having problems understanding me right now...."

Hi, It seams that to use spotify with alexa I have to link my account to alexa. It really, for me, not clear how to do this. I goes to my alexa account, settings-> music & Media and I can't add any service. When I select "Chose default music service", I can see Spotify, but I'm not able to select them. regards Stefano

Just ordered a "One" (not the 1. already have one/1). Been looking at how-to-set-up video, it SEEMS like I may now need a Dot (or Echo) to have Alexa enabled on my new device? Is this true? See below: (3) Alexa enabled device). I was guessing the Sonos WAS an "Alexa enabled device"....? I (think!) I have a PLAY 1 and a PLAY 3 and a new "ONE" on the way. Do I need a DOT too? TERRIBLE naming / branding Sonos! I recommend Sonos to friends and have no idea what to tell them to get: ONE, PLAY 1, "not the "1" but the "ONE", might be PLAY 1 or the PLAY ONE, not sure..." etc.. I have a Sonos One and an Echo Dot in the same (large) room. It seems that the Echo Dot seems to take over more requests than the Sonos (not sure if it's due to mic sensitivity or software issue). For example I'm clearly closer to the Sonos device and asked it to play music. Both devices listen but it seems that the Echo takes over the request most of the time. What is the recommended workaround other than changing the Echo wake word and mentioning the Sonos one name every time when I want to play music there?

If I say "Alexa, play Bruce Springsteen radio", it will begin playing on the Echo and won't go to the Sonos unless I specify a room. Is there a way to set a default room? E.g., if the Echo is in the kitchen, I should be able to set Kitchen as the default room and thus avoid qualifying the Play command with a room.

May flash breifing now will not start the 2nd item in my list on sonos IE Amazon weather! It works normally on Echos, have disabled and re-enabled skill, tried different weather skill, but still my sonos one will now not play it!

Was looking at getting Echo buttons to use with my Sonos One. Will they work with the Sonos or only the Echo?

Got my Sonos One this week, and having occasional problems with connectivity. I have a question ... Does the Sonos One work entirely through the Sonos mesh network, or does it use the normal WiFi as well? I ask because after setting it up I moved it to an area in the house that has limited WiFi signal, but has good Sonos mesh signal - it's about 5-6m line of sight form a Play:5. Thanks, Peter

When I ask Alexa (on the Sonos One only) for sports update, it replies "here's your sports update" then just stops. Never give any information like my echo dots do. Anyone else see this?

My echo dot works by itself and plays music on my Sonos 5 when asked via the inline source but if it’s connected via the cable I can’t get Alexa to talk - help?

how do you play alexa and sonos 3 at same time

I have a Sonos system with 20+ Sonos speakers in a large 3-story house and I have 2 Amazon Echos and one Amazon Tap. The Sonos speakers are on a Sonos Boost network hardwired to my wireless router, while the Amazon Echos and Tap are on my home wifi network (same tri-band router). I added the Boost to allow the Sonos a wider network of their own without interference from TVs, phones, etc. and to extend to the garden and it’s worked pretty well over several years. I worked through the procedure numerous times to have the Sonos speakers and the Alexa app work together but the Alexa app won’t discover my Sonos devices at all. Is that because they are on the Boost network? If so, is there a work-around or do I have to disable the Boost and put the Sonos system back on my home wifi network to make it work with Alexa?
