We’ve had a Sonos bridge with two Play 3 speakers for several years. It works brilliantly. So we finally bought a third Play 3 Speaker for top floor. But when I try to connect it, it says I need an update, and when I try to update, it says I need an upgrade.I’m guessing there are clever people out there who know a workaround so that Sonos can't try and force us to ditch workable hardware that has nothing wrong with it and buy all new hardware, which I will not do from a company that treats its customers like this.I’m reasonably tech savvy, but can’t find a way yet to connect it. Anyone able to help?Dave
Currently I am active duty military and can only use a wpa2 network that doesn’t work with my one sl. Is there any work around to be able to use the speaker?
I’ve got 4 Plays and a Soundbar, roughly 2018. I’ve had nothing but connection issue after connection issue. The following have been random for the last couple years: OS updates requires me to delete my library and re-add, songs stop playing mid song, skips to another song, sound stops but song appears to still play, controller stops working (play, pause, etc), playlist will play but doesn’t appear in the controller, speakers disappear from the controller, mobile app nearly never works, errors saying music was lost, not encoded properly (but plays other times), queues empty, unable to connect, music no longer available (but available other times), updates fail, unexpected errors. The list goes on. Support says unplug, replug. That’s all they have. Ideas anyone? Btw there’s nothing wrong with my internet and I replaced the router anyway.
I’ve tried everything, nothing works?had to reconnect to old Wi-Fi but this is not an sustainable option.
Hey everyone, Having an issue with my system, have a stereo pair of Fives and every time I connect the sub, the right channel disconnects and stops working. Did a hard reset, worked for a while then did Trueplay tuning and the issue comes back every time. When I disconnect the sub, the right channel returns and as soon as I add it back, it disconnects again…at a loss here, if anyone can help? best,JB
Not unlike several threads I've seen recently that have gone unanswered or deflected by Sonos, I have two Sonos One speakers that have been randomly disconnected from Wi-Fi now weekly with no solution. I unplug and reconnect...nothing. Always with the same message from the Sonos app: “unable to connect to Sonos, let's fix it!” Well, nothing is being fixed. They were fine for the first 4 months in my office so it's not an IP issue, etc. Why is this happening now?
I don’t understand why when one speaker may need an update, the entire Sonos speakers have to be stopped! Just turned on a speaker I hadn’t used in a while and the music stopped playing while the update took place!
Is it just me are is Sonos behaving particularly bad at the minute? I'm constantly getting connection issues where the app can't see any of my devices (two ones and a beam) or can just see one but not the other. This seems to happen 90% of the time I open the app. Sometimes this will sort itself out in a few minutes but other times I just give in. Gone are the days when I can just open the app and group some rooms in less than a minute. It would be quicker to switch a turntable on, flick through some vinyls, then put on a record than to fire up the Sonos app. The lack of quality and consistency is really starting to annoy me.
We have 50 play 5 speaker in 1 big villa how can we use in 1 system it is only 32 speaker for 1 system
Are Five generation 2 significantly better than generation 1s? If I upgrade can Five generation 1 be used on its own with just the Sonos 1 app, for example if I give the old speakers to a grandchild?
Why does the white light on my Beam and Ones stay lit? thanks
Hello everyone. Having trouble with one of my OneSL. Two days ago I noticed then when I tried to use it there was no sound coming through one of the fpur SL I have connected. In the app the volume was at 15 and if I raised the volume it automatically turned down to 15 again. I did a reset and the speaker will not play a chime so I cannot connect it. Does anybody have similar problems and/or might know what the problem is?
I want to use my old Sonos 5 in my shed and play music through my old iPod via an 3.5mm aux cable. But it’s not working
Hi I’ve been using Sonos + Spotify for 4 years and suddenly Spotify and AirPlay can’t see the Sonos speakers sonos app works fine and uses spotify just not the other way around. I’ve tried:update network in Sonos appRemoved and re linked Spotify soundcloud can’t see it as well so I suspect it’s airplay issue with Sonos. iPhone can see my google nest and Samsung tv
I have recently been used 3 x One SL speakers via my s2 app. At the same time, I have never unplugged my original Play 1 (a combination of nostalgia and a really difficult to reach plug). I have always tried to “add” my play 1 as a device but with no joy and I had pretty much given up on this being an option (just not unplugging it ..) I randomly turned to my Sonos App this evening for some music and the system seemed to not just have forgotten my ONE SL speakers but started belting out a bit of The Struts (if you want a modern day Freddie anyone…) - out of my old speaker! I knew the risk .. but I tried to force restart the app and pair my ONE SL speakers - they are now up and running but the system again cannot find my Play 1 (I should stress this is plugged via cat5 directly to the router) .. but I know the system now for the liar that it is .. so my question is.. can I connect all of these at once? I have a bridge hanging around somewhere if that will work?
Play 5/3/bridge to upgrade…so how much do I get off an arc and sub set?
We are installing four Play 5 inside our restaurant and 2 outside under good cover. Is there any hardware available for inside wall mounts up high and does anyone have a relatively cheap solution to keep the outside ones from being stolen? We will have power in the ceiling for the four inside and close power for the outside ones. Thanks for any ideas.
I very recently bought a nearly perfect play5 gen1. It came with all the papers and such from the original owner. Got it set up, no problem. However, no matter how loudly I have the volume set, it is barely noticable. It's nearly silent. I've reset and rebooted a number of times with no difference. It doesn't matter what input I'm using. I figure it's probably caused by the problem outlined in this thread,https://en.community.sonos.com/speakers-229128/fix-for-sonos-play-5-with-very-low-volume-6856289but on the off chance it could be something else, I thought I'd ask. Please be patient, I'm new to Sonos.
I own 3 Roam SL’s and 1 Beam gen 2. Setup went fine and I can play music on Spotify *most* of the time without problems. About 10% of the time, I am unable to connect to any of the speakers. I can see the Sonos speakers in Spotify but when I select them (in a group or separately) Spotify says "connecting" for a few minutes then fails. All devices are on the same wifi network. I've tried turning them on/off, resetting the router, rebooting my phone without success. Both apps and speaker firmware are updated. Looking at others posting about similar problems, none of the suggested steps seem to work. The only thing I can think of is a problem with the WiFi, but all other devices remain connected to the network when the Sonos speakers won’t connect.
Hi all. I am considering purchasing a Sonos Amp to power 2 outdoor speakers on my backyard.Although the main music source will be streaming, I’d also like to be able to connect a turntable/ mixer to the Sonos Amp, and connect the Sonos Sub through the app for extra bass.Does anyone know if the Sub will work when an external analog source is connected to the Amp?
Hi allBeen a part of the sonos family for quite a while, and only a few hickups, usually something easily adressable. Recently i’ve been experiencing music dropping out alot, usually 3-5 mins of “bad behaviour” followed by a fair bit of time with everything working perfectly. My setup is as follows:Playbar (RJ45 connected)4 Play:1 (gen2) (sonosnet)3 Play:1 (gen1* S2 compatible)1 Sonos MoveI have tried setting up a wifi scanner to see if theres intereference, but that does not seem to be the case, so im afraid one of my units is causing trouble, but i havent been able to pinpoint anything yet.I tried turning off all the “old” S1’s to see if that made a difference, to no avail. I sent a diagnostic report around one of the “bad times” #1774204207Hope you can help me get this solved. (Wife is very unhappy!)Regards Ole
This past few days when I play my Sonos speakers throughout my house, on an off some of the speakers either stop playing or, if the do, at much lower volumes …this last maybe 5-10 seconds and then the speakers start playing again. I had never experienced this issue and have owned Sonos speakers for many years.
I would like to add an older speaker to my S1 app. The option to add a device is not allowed without an app update. If I update, will my old speakers be supported?
Last year I researched that the Sonos One SL speaker was compatible with the S1 app - and requested one for Xmas so we could use it as an extension to our existing system. By the time I received the speaker & tried to set it up, it seems this situation has changed, and I have been unable to get it to work on our existing system. I have had to create a new registration and set it up on a the S2 app just to be able to get it to play. However, this means I am unable to play the same music on the One SL as the rest of the house, which is pretty annoying because this was the reason for purchasing it.Is there really no way to connect this to our old system? At first, I assumed I just needed to use the Downgrade option - but that would not work either.
Hello, I have a little question, How many sonos devices can I connect to the same wireless network?I have 30 SONOS Devices in this moment and I need to connect 6 more
