A computer that is running the SONOS controller app is connected to a VPN. Am I correct in assuming that the SONOS speakers will NOT stream music over the VPN just because the controller is connected to the VPN, even if they are all connected to the same router?

Is it normal for these Sonos devices to send tens of thousands of probe requests per day? It is kind of flooding out my network analysis. I can just filter this traffic out, but before I do I wanted to find out if this is normal behavior. Between my three devices, over the last 1-2 hours, I have captured 14,000 probe requests. Seems kind of crazy. I have a Sonos Play:3, Playbar and Connect. They are all connected via wifi, none of them are plugged in. Examining my network traffic, I see that they are constantly spamming probe requests to Sonos_OPSFJSLDGNSODV (I made that name up but that's the basic idea). I guess that is a mesh network that the three devices use?

Dear Sonos, I have a TV with poor sound placed on the wall above the kitchen table. Therefor I would like to connect it directly to my Play1 which is on the kitchen table. That would be the ideal solution, since adding a Connect station would just be too much in terms of investment and equipment. Connect is useful when connecting to a serious receiver, not for a simple TV. Sonos, can you please put your customers first and add AUX/LINE IN to the Play1 and Play3? Not doing so will eventually cost you customers, since competition does not rest. And adding the feature will most like augment sales revenues for Play1 and 3. I have a set up in my house with 10 Sonos speakers. I tend to group them in the various rooms..... Kitchen (3 Speakers) Living Room (4 Speakers) Kids Bedrooms (3 Speakers) Master Bedroom/Bathroom (4 Speakers via Connect & Connect Amp) I change the Groups depending on the set up the house at any time. Watching movies etc...... Is there any way to get the system to remember 'Groups' so i can just click on a PreSet say 'Movies' and it will link the appropriate speakers together. I know you can create stereo pairs but i want to create 'super groups'. Many thanks

I set an alarm up for my sonos play 3 in my room. Which has worked fine a couple of times letting me pause it but today every time i hit pause it just restarts the playlist I chose as the alarm music. Now I cant use that speaker amd have just turned the volume right down. Help

Hello I just purchased & installed a Play 3 (like it very much) my question: when not i use, is it beneficial to disconnect the power AC ? would that prolong the life of the amp ? The bridge is also "ON" constantly. I prefer not to leave my components on all the time. What is your opinion ?

Hello, I'd like to add a Play speaker in my garage (probably mount on the wall or ceiling). My garage is not temperature-controlled and I live in New Jersey, USA. So in the winter it will be cold (20-30 F) and in the summer it will be pretty warm (70-90 F) . . . pretty much what the temperature is outside. Can Play speakers handle these temps? What about the Connect:AMP? I'm also thinking about outdoor speakers, but the Connect:AMP would be in an unconditioned utility closet. Thanks, in advance, for your help!

Hi all, i intend on buying sonos speakers to listen to music in my roughly 80m2 living and dining room. Which speakers would you recommend? I assume 2 play 1 will not be sufficient, right? My budget is sufficient for max 4x play 1 or 2 play 3, or one play 5. Thanks a lot

Connect Amp (older model) has stopped working. Can't stay connected to network and green light is flashing on/off, despite multiple restarts. Any ideas?

I'm thinking of purchasing a sonos sound bar and was curious about the sound input options available. My dvd player gives me the option to play stero sound or 5.1 sound. Does the sound bar work better with one or the other. Does it make a difference in the sound played by choosing one or the other. Does the sound bar simulate surround sound or do you have to buy more speakers to achieve that surround sound feeling?

We use Sonos in my cafe. Tonight, it seems someone who used to work there and has access to the system decided it would be awesome to mess around with us and change the music and turn the volume up. Is there a way to reset the system to clear all the passed employees off the access list?

Hi All, I have a large garden and an Ethernet cable running underground from my main router/wifi location (#1) to a secondary wifi/router setup as a repeater (#2). The two locations do not have continuous wifi coverage. My main house fed of #1 has been running without issue. I've recently connected a new Sonos to #2. I tried normal wifi setup but it failed. I tried the Ethernet cable (plugged into #2) and it worked fine. I could successfully get the new Sonos speaker to group with the ones connected to #1. However-it only works when connected via Ethernet cable. When I try to connect via wifi on #2 it does not work. I presume because #2 is giving off a different wifi connection than #1. Does anyone know how to make both of my routers appear as if they are giving off the same wifi network-as I assume the new Sonos speaker would then work wirelessly? To be clear-there is an Ethernet cable coming out of router#1, and plugged into router#2. This is the only way I can get inter

How can I setup the sonos playbar without connecting to a TV (temporary) ? I go through the configuration wizard for connecting playbar, but it asks to connect to TV.

Guys, I have an event tonight and would like to use a microphone and have the sound output from my Sonos speakers. Two questions: (1) Do I have a special type of mic (2) How do I connect mic to the Sonos system I currently have a play bar, sub, 2 Play 1s and 1 Play 5. Ripped some xmas CDs into iTunes. Worked. Updated "Music Library" on windows 10 Sonos controlled. Worked Stuck on how to now get these new CDs visible to "Music Library" on my Android Sonos controller. I'm in the "manage music library" and am not sure what to do next....

Evening all, Just wondering if this would be possible.... Away in the caravan, with no wifi. Could I create a wireless network using my iPhone, connect the Play 1 to that network, then stream from my iPhone/iPad to that network? I have a Mac run-on El Capitan and I have what I think is a firewall problem using Sonos. When I load the Mac Sonos Contoller I get a box that says 'Do you want the application “Sonos.app” to accept incoming network connections?' with Deny or Allow options. Clicking on Allow attaches to my music OK. If I turn the Firewall off then this box does not appear. I have my Firewall set up correctly as per Sonos guidelines with Block all incoming connections not checked and Sonos App included to accept incoming connections. I've tried reinstalling the Sonos Controller software and deleting/readiing my Music share which is on a NAS. As far as I know I have changed nothing to cause this and it just started happening yesterday.

I know that all Sonos products don't have this feature in their streaming capability but I thought that maybe because the Play:5 has a headphone Jack that it doesn't need to do all the high-res digital to analog conversion as that's all done by the source already... Would someone be able to confirm this? Because if so - I may go get a Play:5. :P

Hi everyone, I just purchased a couple of SONOS PLAY 1 in Spain (which is where I live). I am planning to complete befroe end of the year my SONOS System with one more SONOS PLAY 3 and a SONOS: CONNECT, to be bought from UK, where they are certainly cheaper. My questions are: 1) Would these components bought abroad (UK) work properly in Spain? 2) Would any adaptation be needed (power cord, power adaptor, I guess...)? 3) Would be there any incompatibility issue between components bought in different countries as UK/Mainland Europe? I absolutely love the Sonos Windows and Android apps and my new 5.1 and other Play speakers. You did an excellent job on this system! I also want to listen to all the great music sources while working at my PC and don't always want to bother everyone else turning on the real speakers (I develop Windows software at home). Please create a new "Play:Win" device that can be a Sonos "Room" which can send audio to any of the Windows Playback devices. E.G. headset, speakers, digital audio S/PDIF 5.1 etc. same as how a user can select audio playback output on a PC. You can build a Windows device driver to do this. This way I can use my local USB headset and you don't need to come out with those wireless headsets quite so soon. I don't want to have to also run WinAmp or Kodi or something to play my local FLAC files that I can already play via Sonos reading my NAS drive. Hi All First post....I had a BOOST wired to my router and 4 other PLAY:1's scattered around the house, all using SONOSNET. Everything working ok, and on the Network Matrix I see that the BOOST is the root bridge, and all other units are secondary nodes. Yesterday, I received the new SKYQ hub so switched everything off, installed the new hub, then turned things back on, starting with the BOOST first. Again, everything is working ok and the Network Matrix looks healthy. However, I can now see that the BOOST is a secondary node, and the other units are now tertiary nodes. The root bridge has disappeared. If i go to http://XXX.XXX.X.X:1400/status/showstp I can see that the designated root is the IP address of my new SKYQ hub, so looks like that is the new root bridge. I'm not worried as everything appear to be working ok, but just wondered out of interest why that has happened?

My brand new Samsung RF remote will not control the volume on my Sonos Playbar. Is there any way around this?

The visual aspects and the options are very poors and the way it manages the library is the worst intuitive and usable ways to run...Please tell SONOS if you are agree.
