When we use our Sonos, our wifi slows down. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Hi, I am looking buy a Playbar & connect it to my media centre PC with S/PDIF optical audio output. Can you please advise if the Playbar is compatible with PC digital optical audio? Thanks, Stvee

Amazon Fire TV has 4 settings for audio and I'm wondering which would be the best to choose. My audio is HDMI through a Vizio M65-D0 monitor which supports Dolby Digital Plus. Assuming everything is hard-wired Cat5: if I daisy chain a MacBook Pro to a Sub to a Play:5 to another Play:5 to ultimately a router (Apple AirPort Express), will the MacBook Pro effectively be on the LAN (IP address, network performance)? I have terrible interference in my apartment so Sonos speakers are always dropping off the network and songs frequently drop out. I want to play music uncompressed and wonder if the best quality for that is the connect the MBP directly to the router or if I will get the same level of network performance by connecting the MBP directly into the Sub. Another reason for the question is that the MBP is next to the Sub and the router is about 50 feet away (as the cable runs).

Hello all. Brand new to Sonos so forgive the ignorance. So far just the play bar and the sub (primarily because we are moving into a shoebox apartment in NY). Which brings me to the question: Can my wife and I independently use our iPhones to listen to TV audio through headphones via the app? I've been going crazy trying to find a solution for listening to the TV via earbuds as my wife and I both hate on ear headphones. Yes, I know bluetooth aptx units, but at least right now bluetooth has a latency of some 40ms, which will drive me insane. I'm a filmmaker and notice any off sync immediately. RF headphones like the Sennheiser 120s have extremely low latency, but they're on ear phones (too claustrophobic). The RF earbuds all seem to be stethoscope style (with a weighted control knob pulling them down). There's a set of truly inear wifi buds from KOSS (the Stiva), but they're $500 and KOSS has always been crap and they claim a 3 hour battery, but it's likely more like half that.

I'm looking to add my B&W 805 speakers to my Sonos system. Currently I have a sonos connect and a independent Rotel power amp which I used to use to power the speakers from my old non sonos system. #1) Do I need the Rotel power amp to power my BW speakers or can I go from Sonos Connect direct to my B&W speakers. I recently got a sonos soundbar and sub. I am thinking about purchasing a project turntable to play my vinyl on, i am unsure if i need to purchase the sonos connect or will my exist amp suffice.

Hi Why can't I find a track by an artist that is in a compilation album using the search? Specific example I have the Paloma Faith track I 'Can't Rely on You' with the artist shown as a contributing artist in the ID3 tag on the Now 87 album. ( I am not using iTunes at all!) Indeed when playing the album the artist name appears on all the controllers (CR100, android and PC versions). But when I search the music library for the artist name it only shows a different album of the same artist but not the individual track in the compilation album.

Hi Everyone I'm considering buying a Sonos PLAY:5. Since this speaker is a year or two old , I wanted to know what's the life cycle of a sonos product , when might another play speaker be released?. For how long does the company continue churning out software updates for their products? for example an android phone will only get software updates for a year or two and then nothing. Thanks:)

I'm sure this question has been asked many times before. I truly appreciate the help and patience community members show, but I do find it difficult to maneuver in "search". I recently added a Playbar to a room with 2X Play 1's and Sub. I'm loving the TV experience,but the Music was was MUCH more enjoyable without the Playbar. Is there an easy way to uncouple the Playbar from the room? Thanks!

I think I understand that it is possible to add individual shared folders rather than only a single folder and all of is sub folders. I share the top level iTunes folder because it contains iTunes' library files. (I use sonos in lose conjunction with iTunes, so it is essential that I have access to its playlist file.) The problem, however, is that I do not wish sonos to index all of the subfolders. (For instance, "music" subfolders but not "audiobook" folder. ) So what I'm wondering is: is there some way to index only certain files as well as certain folders? Or some other way to index only certain subfolders of a folder AS WELL AS only certain FILES within it?

Can anyone explain how the Sub level works vs the Bass? What is the effect of increasing the Sub level vis a vis increasing bass level.

My Samsung LED 60in TV does not support external speakers and therefore does not have the menu option to turn off the internal speakers. I have confirmed with Samsung support that I can't flash the firmware or do anything to get them disabled.  I have the Sonos playbar connected via ethernet cable to router and I have the playbar going optically to the Tivo Roamio because my TV doesn't have optical port just HDMI ports. Thus, after setting up my Sonos Playbar with my Tivo Roamio and Samsung TV I have the following issues... When I change the volume via my Tivo remote, I have to use my iPad/iPhone Sonos app if I don't want the TV volume to go up/down. When I use the Tivo remote like I normally would, the Sonos Playbar and Samsung TV volume go up/down. Thus, I am still getting Samsung TV sound. Not horrible but not ideal. Also when I turn the TV off, I have to press mute as well on the tivo remote in order for the playbar to go quiet since it is plugged

If you have the full surround (playbar, sub, surrounds), which option do you typically chose when listening to music for the surrounds? Do you go full? Ambient? turn them off completely? Interested to hear what other prefer, thanks.

After updating the app today, "Room Settings" disappeared from my Settings page. I can no longer adjust anything. Does anyone know what's going on?

Hi, I have Sonos controller app on iPad and iPhone. I have a sonos bridge connected to a home hub 3. I regularly - several times a day - loose connectivity with the sonos app - it just says searching for sonos system. This will happen although the sonos components are happily still playing music. The only way to get connectivity back again seems to be to either reboot the router or switch wifi off and back on again on the ipad/iphone. It's very frustrating. Have there been software updates recently that might have screwed the connectivity up? Up to about a few weeks ago never had this problem Thanks

Building a house and I'm currently running ethernet cord throughout the house. I am hardwiring all of my Sonos throughout the house into my network to increase reliability...but I am not quite sure exactly how to wire my Sonos in the living room. I want to have 5.1 surround sound (Playbar, Subwoofer, Connect:Amp, rear ceiling speakers). The Playbar has two ethernet ports. I will have one ethernet port from a switch to the Playbar. And the other will go from Playbar to the Connect:Amp. (My understanding is I need to hardwire the Playbar and Connect:Amp, correct me please if that information is not true anymore). FYI, my network does allow for spanning tree protocol to be enabled (Google Wifi routers, unmanaged switches) Do I hardwire the subwoofer to the switch or do I need to have the subwoofer connect wirelessly via Sonosnet? Also, my wife has given me the following choices for location of the subwoofer 1) inside cabinetry underneath TV, 2) underneath couch facing TV, or

Hi Sonos, I just received my Playbar. I have a Sony Bravia 46" (KDL-46XBR2). It receives audio via an HDMI connection from the cable box. It is directly connected to the Playbar via the included optical digital audio cable. As I set up my Playbar, I am getting the message, "Sonos could not detect any audio from the TV." I have tried another optical cable. My TV doesn't necessarily have a "digital audio out" setting in the menu. It only has the option to turn the TV's speaker ON/OFF, though when I had the TV audio output going through component cables to a Play:5, it worked fine. Any troubleshooting steps?

I'm limited on space and for a cable management, I need to mount the Connect upside down in my desk. Any concerns? I'll be using the 10 lbs, super heavy duty velcro. Does the connect get hot at all? I'll be hard-wiring it.

Hi - Just got my first Play 1 and Bridge last week and am blown away by how good Sonos is.  I will undoubtedly be adding to my system soon but wondered in advance whether I would be able to play 2 (or more) different Spotify playlists/tracks on different speakers? I am looking to wire up a house and use built in speakers to create 6 zones (inside & outside), inclusive of a TV surround set up that I would like to have available as a separate SONOS zone when not watching TV. I am assuming CONNECT:AMPs for zones to connect to built in speakers, CONNECT for my existing traditional set-up with amp/preamp/speakers, and I don't know how to create a full surround TV zone that uses only built in speakers? Any ideas? We're starting the wiring two days from now... Thank you!

How could I use my Sonos Play1 speakers for my Sony HD TV output? My DirecTV box is connected directly to the same router as the Sonos bridge, but not sure how to make the connection thru the router or do I need another direct cable between the DirecTV box or TV and Sonos Bridge? My Sony TV has built-in WiFi also thru the same router could that be utilized somehow? I currently use its optical audio output to an external speaker, is that a possibility? Stumped

We bought the Samsung 55" UHD curved LED Smart TV on Amazon Prime Day July 12, 2016 but its smart remote won't control my Playbar's sound. I'm using the Optical jack on the TV and can hear good sound from the Playbar, but can't control the volume. I used the Sonos Settings --> Remote Control Setup to no avail... The remote seems to use IR. Any ideas would be appreciated since both are 2016 models.
