In order to control the volume of a sound system through my Sony TV/remote is to connect to the tv with a HDMI cable. The Sonos sound bar connects with a optical audio cable so I cannot use the remote to control the volume of the Sonos. Can anything be done.

I have owned a Sonos system for about 12 years and in the past couple of days I have experienced a problem that I've not seen before. It goes a bit like this: start Sonos. Message that we need to check for software update. 3 step process fails on third step with the message Update problem ! Try again doesn't work. More information recommends unplugging everything and waiting 10 secs. I have done this routine many times. Then all of a sudden, Sonos is working. It will fail again at a later stage, still looking for a software update!! When it does work, the rooms that come up are not always the same and is always incomplete. Although there normally is, there is no option under Manage on my PC app, to add components. Has anybody seen this before and/or have a cure?

Hi Folks. Are the Sonos Outdoor by Sonance speakers "stereo" in that the should are supposed to work together as 2 channel speakers? Or, can I mount them fairly far apart so I can get more "coverage" in my yard?

sonos stops playing songs about half way through. the songs are located on my iphone 8. i never used to have this problem. started about 3 weeks ago. soo frustrating. wondering why i paid so much for this thing. when im forced to use the speakers in the iphone or ipad.

I want a wireless TV surround sound setup for my living room that I can also connect my DJ mixer to. The mixer can be connected to Sonos via wire or wireless. The only thing is that there cannot be a delay with the DJ equipment. I know for most wireless systems there is a 1-2 second delay. For example, if you press pause on your iPhone, there is a delay when the music actually stops. Is there any configuration that works with what I’m looking for?

I have a 5.1 setup with a playbar, 2xPlay1 and subwoofer. Further more some Play Ones in other rooms. Im thinking about replacing the 2xPlay1 with Ones. But will Alexa work in the 5.1 Setup? Or will they have to be "main/primary" for it to work?

I have Sonos in my office of 100+ employees. We run different music on different zones (we have 7 zones) however employees have access too so they can control music in their zones. The issues we always run into is employees selecting other zones accidentally (or purposely) and changing the music. Why hasn't Sonos come out with administrator privileges to prevent this from happening?

As the title suggests. This is when trying to play music, and has been happening for about 10 days now. Example: I say "Alexa play songs by Foo Fighters". She says "Playing songs by Foo Fighters from Spotify - sorry, that device is offline". I've disabled the Sonos skill in the Alexa app, removed Alexa as a voice service in the Sonos app, been to https://alexa.amazon.com/ from a browser on my PC and told Alexa to forget all my devices, deregistered my devices from the Alexa app, and all the reverses of those procedures, all in various different combinations and orders as has been suggested by other forum post solutions, and nothing is working. The answer from Alexa is always the same. If anyone can help I'd be very grateful!

When I first bought the Sonos One I was really happy with it. After the initial setup everything seemed to work fine and I enjoyed controlling Spotify via Alexa. A few weeks later that changed and for approximately two months now Alexa refuses to play Spotify telling me that the device is offline. I have already tried disabling and re-enabling the Sonos skill in the Alexa App. I also let Alexa forget all devices and rediscovered. I changed the name of the Sonos One and I disconnected Alexa in the Sonos App. Nothing seems to work and I am getting more and more frustrated with the Speaker and am thinking about selling it again. So this is my last resort, what other fixes are there or what did I do wrong? I appreciate your help.

I have my TV in a large, echoing room. For sound I use a Sonos Amp connected to four in ceiling speakers and a Sonos Sub. The sound is decent when turned up, but dialog is tough to understand unless very loud. I have a table behind my couch. I bought some Play:1’s to use with the Amp so I could hear dialog. Unfortunately, when in surround mode they do not produce dialog. Is there a way to use these as a center channel to hear mainly dialog? I tried using them in a group with the Amp and it was difficult to control volume appropriately. Is it possible to use any Sonos speaker as a center channel besides the sound bars? Any other suggestions? Thank you.

Hi, My iPad Air 2 (Sonos v10.1) has unexpectedly stopped connecting to my network - "You need to be connected to a wireless network to use Sonos. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi on your device". My iPhone, iPod, iMac and a second iPad running also Sonos App v10.1 can connect fine. I have tried doing a software update but none is available so I assume 10.1 is the newest version. All devices are on the same network. I do have a network extender which uses a similar network name to my main router, with the addition of _EXT to the main one's name. I can't submit diagnostics I think, because I can't open the app fully. Thanks, Ben

Can I ask Alexa on Sono One to play the sound currently on my playbase that is tv audio? I saw in another forum Alexa doesn't understand grouping.

Trying to set up the Alexa voice control in the sonos app But keeps saying Alexa Problem adding, have followed all the forums and a lot of people have had same issue, have re set up deleted apps made new accounts change time zones and tried every thing. I think it’s piss poor on sonos part that there is no help other than ringing them. If I don’t get it working they can stick the system and will use Bose

With Netflix recently dropping airplay support, is it now no longer possible to play Netflix audio on the Sonos One while still retaining the video on a device like an IPad?

Having an issue where whenever I try to play something on Spotify on Sonos using Alexa, it's just coming up with 'To link your Spotify, please add a premium account in the Alexa app' even though I have already done this. When I try to play Spotify using just the Echo dot it's playing fine - just doing this when I want it to play on the Sonos! Anyone have any ideas? Thank you :)

Is the Alexa dot compatible with Sonos system? Can you play your Spotify music on Sonos via Alexa dot? Or do I need the Alexa spot? And does someone know if Alexa can create a shopping list for example and send it to your iPhone? Thanks a lot I'm so lost!

Does the CONNECT Amp need to be hard wired to network with ethernet cable or can it access network via wifi (as the Sonos One does)?

Presently, I have four outdoor speakers (MARINER 54 B) wired in parallel. Per the speaker specifications, they are rated at 60 watts maximum. Currently, I have a Sonos Connect:Amp hooked up to them; however, I was curious if I could go up to new AMP to push my volume or would that be blown speakers waiting to happen? From what I have read the parallel configuration might effectively push more wattage due to lowered impedance of speakers in parallel? Just looking for the right answer prior to pulling the trigger on the new Amp.

Hi Sonos Community, I have trouble using Siri on my phone to with Sonos Beam. In a few videos I've seen that you can tell Siri, "play music in 'Name of Beam'. " However, Siri responds, "Sorry can't find that speaker". I am using the only name listed in the Sonos App, AirPlay2, and Homekit. They each have the same name. Can someone tell me what I could do to make this feature work? Luis
