I own 3 speakers gereration 1 + bridge.   You buy speakers 7-8 years ago and now they say: “ops, sorry, you can’t use them anymore?”   ABSOLUTELY FUC...NG SHAME ON YOU SONOS YOU SHOULD BE EMBARRASSED

With the May end of life for my Bridge support, I'm not sure whether I should buy a new Boost or if I can go without one. I'd like to remain on a separate network. I'm hoping for some advice. Thanks! 

With the end of software updates for legacy devices in May, will I be able to add new Sonos products to a system containing legacy devices. My experience is that when adding a new device a software update has always been necessary.

Hello! I'm trying to set up my apartment for a small, simple home theatre, but I'm running into problems with the audio. My current setup consists of a projector sitting on a shelf on the back wall, a Chromecast plugged into the projector via the HDMI port, a Google Home Mini also on the back shelf with the projector, a screen mounted to the opposite wall of the projector, and a Sonos Playbar mounted to the wall underneath the screen. I don't have a TV that's easily accessible to plug the Playbar into (since they're on opposite walls), so having the Playbar pick up the audio of the projector is potentially not possible (or will require a rather long cable). My hope was to connect my Google Assistant to my Sonos account, with the Playbar set up without a TV, and have audio play through the Playbar when casting to the Chromecast in the projector. Hello, I have a cafe’ and purchased 3 sonos speakers from Ikea, they seems to work fine but its been a couple of months now that when playing music from spotify the music stops randomly and then starts again after a wile. It really disturbs the business mood. I tried unplugging and pairing the speakers again but the problem is not getting fixed. any way to fix this? The sonos app is up to date. Thanks!

Why should perfectly functional gear be binned because of lack of memory/processing power? An external device very like a raspberry pi with loads of memory can be integrated into the sonos system with a bit of ingenuity. The problem for any size of speaker system should cost 50 quid. Or put a sonos badge on it and charge 200.  This is planned obsolescence and there are enough items in landfill without needing a specific hole just for sonos' junk.   Fix this legacy problem with an external stand-alone memory/wifi/processing raspberry pi either as a day hack or put a sonos badge on it and vastly over charge for a simple solution.   The speakers are great, just a pity the imagination of the executive profitseekers at sonos.   Johnnydot 

Play 5 devices could be used as dumb speakers in recycle mode but does that work?

I am a happy new Sonos owner.  I haven’t been able to find an exact answer to this in the various topics.  After power is lost to a speaker, does Trueplay need to be run again?   The reason I ask is that one of my speakers is on the same outlet as a timed lighting circuit.  This circuit goes on and off once per day.  I am waiting for the electrician to split the outlet so that one half is always on.  That will also solve the problem of the speaker falling out of its group every day.

Hey there Given a Sonos network with 8 players. One player is wired to the router, as far as my understanding is right, my Sonos configuration is a SonosNet mesh network. I see WM:0 at each player. (All the seven other players are wireless) What happens if I turn off the Wifi (using the app) for the one player that is wired (my sonosnet coordinator)?  Will turning off the wifi causing problems? Because this one wired player is communicating over wireless to the other 7 player within the Sonos MeshNet?   Thank you in advance!

I have a Sonos Bridge which connects with my Play:3 speakers. I recently purchased a Sonos Amplifier to connect with my stereo receiver and in-ceiling speakers. I just received notice that the Bridge will no longer be supported. Can I use the amplifier now the control my Play:3 speakers?

Hi, How does TradeUp work for a CR200 Controller - essentially a product for which there is no (hardware) replacement? The TradeUp page allows me to check the box next to it and then “Click to receive your credit” (which I haven’t done yet, because I’m unsure about what I let myself in for). This doesn’t indicate that the recycle mode will be initiated. Does this mean I can claim 30% per controller that I own, but it won’t stop working? Can I then use the discount on any Sonos product? If I understand it correctly, then as long as I leave a legacy product (e.g. a CR200 controller) in the setup, none of my components will receive software updates, right? I guess I can’t use more than one TradeUp discount (30%) on a single new product? I don’t really need new products, but if I start adding the discounts for my controllers for the purchase of one item, I may “need” a new product ;-) Thanks….

Seeing the recent trade in offers I was wondering if there is some planned end of life for Sonos Gen 1 products like most of the kit I own? I have just had a quick look at the Trade in offer and it is suggesting I spend a further £1500 to upgrade kit which seems to be working perfectly well. While I don’t argue that it is a reasonable offer I just wondered why I would need to do such a thing.  Is the stuff I own going to stop working at some point?

Hello,   With all the uproar over old Sonos products not getting updates, I would like to know how can I tell what Generation my Sonos Sub is? I just purchased it from Best Buy and want to make sure that it is not a Gen 1 product that is going to be obsolete in a couple months. Especially for what it cost.   Thank you! Bob

So i just recieved the email informing me my connect that I JUST PURCHASED NEW at BestBuy in DECEMBER is now not going to be supported??  I paid $350 just ONE MONTH AGO and this happened?? Maybe I need to return it to BestBuy?  Can I still do this.  I use it to connect my Turntable wirelessly to my Play1s and sub

I’m wondering if there is a list of features that I’m missing out on for new products vs the ZP100. Does anyone have a summary?I don’t really stream or use voice activation. Just play my music from a NAS.I do have to say that I’ve been SUPER impressed with the ongoing updates to the ZP100 in all the years I’ve owned them. In fact, it is the biggest rave that I tell everyone why they should get Sonos over other systems. So super KUDOS to Sonos for that. So yeah, I’m fine with upgrading. I’d like to continue to support Sonos as a business.

I have a soundbar and two ‘Play 1’ speakers.  I’ve control all on my iphone with SONOS app.  Mostly use it for watch TV/satellite shows.  Have a whole house internet system and everything is run via wifi…..   Would like to play/listen to my huge collection of cd’s from my computer, use it’s player.  Am currently confused by all the information I’m reading regarding this.   Advise please. . . . . . . .

Does the new version of the Sonos Amp auto power off with no signal present?

Hi,   I currently have a Play:Bar, Sub and two One:SL’s set up for my surround sound experience on my TV. I have a bridge connected as well (off the top of my head I’m not sure where or how).   I’ve just received an email stating that this is now a legacy product as of May 2020 and will no longer be supported.   I have two questions: Do I need this in my setup or can I run the surround sound experience without it? What if anything is a suitable replacement?

The “announcement” wasn’t bad enough, now you’re deleting the posts of the customers you’ve just angered?  Well done.  I'm sure this will gone in a matter of minutes….  This a completely ridiculous stance for the company to take.  They clearly don’t care what impact this obvious money grab will have on their customer base or the reputation.  No new features? Fine.  Saying that not only won’t you maintain these devices, but keeping them instead of spending for new ones renders all of your other devices obsolete?!? Just before Christmas, I decided to proceed with updating my iMac OS to the Catalina.  I had held off since it became available out of respect for the things that could “go wrong” in terms of my day-to-day computer work.  Before the upgrade, Sonos Controller and my iTunes library interacted very well, allowing me to play albums, tracks, playlists, etc however I wished to play them.  Upon upgrading to Catalina, with its attendant introduction of the “Music” app vice everything audio-visual being stored in the iTunes library, my Sonos controller no longer can access the library to play anything.  Note that I do keep my entire iTunes audio-visual library on an external Lacie drive. Interestingly, when I recently imported some new music from CDs, it did not get added to my external drive, but rather to the iMac’s HD under “Music”.  (I will be changing that default after this issue gets resolved.)  These tracks did show up when I added that folder to my Sonos controller’s music library. Hi folks, I’d like to switch my stereo-paired Sonos One speakers OFF of the Wi-Fi connection and onto a wired ethernet connection.  I have read the helpful posts here on HOW to do that, but the WiFi connection is always “in use” and therefore cannot be removed. But I’ve come to believe that maybe it is always in use, because (perhaps?) the Alexa feature REQUIRES only WiFi connections….can anyone confirm that?  Or has anyone successfully set up an Alexa-enabled steros pair of Sonos Ones directly over ethernet? [PS: I realize that an ethernet connection just sets up a hidden/dedicated WiFi network just for SONOS.]  Thanks, -Bill-

I had a 5.1 set with a subwoofer (passive i guess, it had no OWN power supply). Can i use this subwoofer, or do i have to switch to a wired subwoofer or to the Sonos.sub?

Hi all, i’m trying to make an outdoor setup with one or more Sonos Amps.   Problem is, i’d like to also have an outdoor subwoofer, which are almost all passive, and don’t really understand how i can set that up. Other non Sonos systems basically see the speakers daisy chained from the amp, and the Sub is simply treated as one of the speakers.   Anybody has a clue?

I just got a Sonos One SL, placed it in the kitchen. In the adjacent living room I have an old hifi with an Airport Express connected to aux-in (using a mini headphone to RCA cable) to make it an Airplay 2 target. I played them both together for the first time today using Airplay 2 and Apple Music (streaming) as the source. Sounded excellent for about an hour, then the Sonos One started to drift behind the stereo, until it was unlistenable. I tried pausing and playing again, no luck.   In the experience of the community, is this issue likely to be permanently resolvable, or is it the sort of thing where I’ll need to restart devices repeatedly? The Sonos One will live near the ceiling, so this is untenable. I’m using an iphone with 12.4.1 OS.   I’ve heard of people hardwiring their Sonos with ethernet cable and still having this issue, so I don’t think it’s the wifi. I live in a 950sf house anyway.   The real question is-- do I return the Sonos One, or do I go down the path of fiddling
