I am getting a new tv, will my sonos playbar, sub, 2x play 1 be able to 5.1 with this tv please? Cheers Ridd

I'm getting myself into a bit of a mess with the remote control situation with my Beam! I have Sky and a Sony TV so, ordinarily, I would program my Sky remote to control the volume on my Sony TV. Now, I was under the impression that, with some help from HDMI-CEC, I'd plug the Beam into my TV and my Sky remote would control the volume on the Beam (instead of the TV). I didn't think I'd have to enter a new code for my Sky remote? After a bit of tinkering, I discovered an option in the Sonos app which allows you to 'enable IR'. I did that... pointed my Sky remote at the Beam, pressed the volume up button... and hey presto... volume was now being controlled. However, I am finding it very, very unreliable. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't. I'd say, at the moment it's not working more often than it is! So should I be disable 'IR' in the Sonos app and using HDMI-CEC? I'm pretty confused! Thanks Nick

In 2019 there is a big WiSA push planned with LG, Klipsch, Bang & Olufsen, Axiim, Enclave, JBL and Pioneer. There will be LG OLED TVs that will work with any combination of WiSA certified wireless speakers. The speakers are capable of up to eight channels of uncompressed 24-bit wireless audio supporting Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. I saw this at CEDIA a few years back and it appears finally ready for consumers. It's amazing to imagine an entirely wireless Atmos surround system capable 24 bit audio. No HDMI or optical to the soundbar or any wires to speakers, other than power. Has anyone looked at WiSA technology and have thoughts on this wireless multichannel high-fidelty audio?

Hi, Today i received my second play 1 and i installed them as surround together with the beam. Here is the situation. My tv: Samsung UE48H6400 I use the shield tv for watching tv (iptv), netflix and kodi. Shield tv -> HDMI 1 Sonos Beam -> HDMI Arc When i watch something through netflix i do not get a surround sound. When i check about my sonos it says silence. Can anyone help?

I have a pair of Play:5's (gen2) that I use a a stereo pair for listening to music and I have a Playbar attached to the TV that I use for normal TV viewing. On occasion of watching a movie (a couple of times per month), I would like to use the Play:5's as a Surround Sound pair attached to the Playbar. This will involve me physically moving them and re-configuring them within Sonos (so it is not something I do often), but how do I go about doing this (ie un-configuring the stereo pair and re-configuring them as Playbar Surrounds) and then also putting them back as a Stereo pair afterwards? you have most probably been asked this a 1000 times have a playbase and two ones, my tv a panasonic TX-L42ET60B doesnt pass 5.1 digital out through my optical output. The only way I can get 5.1 is to plug my Virgin v6 box direct to my playbase but this isnt ideal what spitter box do I need to purchase to get around this thank you

I just purchased a complete surround system with a playbase, sub and pair of ones. My TV is an older 65" Panasonic Elite with 2 HDMI ports. I have Direct TV and an Apple TV I am trying to use and both are connected to the 2 HDMI ports. It does have an opitical port so I thought it would connect pretty easily. Following the connection process, I get video but no audio from the Sonos. The only way I could get audio is going directly into the satellite box with the optical and it works fine. The problem is, I cant use the apple TV that way. I am not sure if the optical port isnt working, or if there is another option to get this to work. I would hate to have to take back all this great equipment, but if I cant use all devices, its not helpful. Thoughts or ideas for work arounds would be great. Thanks

Hi, I already have a play3 in my dining room and if I purchased a beam for the tv there, what are my options? Can they be combined for tv? Can they be combined for music? Can they be combined for both ? Or can they not be combined at all? Thanks

I purchased the beam and corresponding mounting kit to mount the sound bar underneath my tv, with the plan to have no wires showing. However, I was told you can't just take the power cord and put behind the wall because it's not up to code. The picture shown with the mounting kit shows it without any wires. Does anyone have recommendations on how to wall mount the beam (or any sound bar) just below the tv (few inches) without any wires showing, and still to electrical code?

King Living (formerly King Furniture), an Australian furniture company has a collaboration with Sonos, where some of their reclining lounges have the option to add speaker brackets for sonos One/Play:1 surround/rear speakers, which are attached to the lounge (the power cord is hidden and attached to the couch electronics), and the center console can also house the sub, so it's fully concealed, inside the lounge. My question is: Is this good speaker placement for 5:1 surround? With the surround/rear speakers, I am concerned that because the lounges have 2 recliners, either the left or the right speaker will be very close to the person sitting on either chair, while the other is much further away (the couches vary in width from 2110 to 2670mm). Would it be better to have them on stands, or wall mounted so they are further away from the viewers? This could be tricky in my living room given the shape of it, so the rear speaker brackets on the couch would be a good space saving solut

Last month i bought a brand new set with 1x beam, 2x play 1, 1x sub. Sound streaming works perfectly. When watching tv the cut outs comming all few minutes. the cut outs last 1 to 2 seconds, sometimes longer. Sometimes it isnt working from starting watching tv. after restart the tv it works ,most times, but the cut outs still there. Sent diagnostic report #1119422258

I'd like to set up a 5.1 or 7.1 system using SONOS separates - 2 x Play 5 (left and right), 1 x Play 5 (Center), 2 x Play 1 (surround) and subwoofer. Is this possible?

Is it possible to set up a sonos playbar as a center channel, i have great in ceiling speakers for front and rear. need a center channel.

I have read that a "permanent group" can be achieved through "Bonding" a group. I setup my remote to control volume on my beam - first my apple tv4k remote and then my tv remote - and the remote sets up fine and controls volume perfectly. However, as soon as I put my beam in it’s permanent place - on a bracket on top of the tv - the volume control stops working. If I take the beam off it’s backet and set it on a chair below the tube and about 18” away the remote works again to control the volume. When I put the beam back up on its bracket - remote will not cotton volume again. This happens with both Apple TV remote and the tv remote. It seems like when the beam is above the tv there is some type of ineterference but it makes no sense to me. Need help please.

same here. I tried 2 remotes. they do work but I have to point super close. hopefully a software update will help. I am using alexa now for volume control

Hi I'm pretty new to all this. Just got a Sonos Beam (to go with an LG OLED55B8SLC TV). It's my only bit of Sonos kit so far. Under sound settings, I have the option to choose either PCM or auto. The setup instructions don't seem to mention which to go for. Which should I choose? (I'm connected via HDMI/ARC). Thanks!

Hi Sonos Community, I'm having an issue with my living room 5.1 right now where my Play One's (with Alexa) aren't working with my 5.1 surround. Here's the situation. I bought a Playbase, Sub, and two Sonos 1's last year. I also bought the Alexa enabled "One's" pair for my bedroom last year as well. This year, I nabbed the Beam for my bedroom which is Alexa enabled. SO with that said, I Swapped my 1's and One's from bedroom to living room and vice versa. (One's went from the bedroom to Living room // Living room 1's went into the Bedroom since the Beam is Alexa enabled). The beam paired seamlessly with the older 1's ( I guess creating 5.0 for the bedroom) and it works. HOWEVER, the Sonos One's (with Alexa) don't work with my playbase now. I keep getting an error when pairing them to the playbase. I've even reset the sonos One's and nothing. They work as speakers when unpaired and standalone/stereo as two speakers. Despite the error, they still show as: Living Room (+Sub+LS+RS).

I have two Sonos Ones and a Sonos Beam setup as the sound system for my tv. It has been working perfectly until this morning. All the sudden I cannot increase or decrease the volume from either the app or the speakers themselves. If I play music from them it's fine, but in trying to watch tv through them it won't allow me to control the volume. I have turned my phone off and on, uninstalled and reinstalled the songs app, and restarted the tv and nothing has helped. I'm not sure how to fix this and the wait time on the phone is extremely long. Thank you for any help you can provide!

I just purchased the Beam. Already have (4) Play 3s and (2) Play Ones and a bridge. Had already experienced some lag and intermittent cut out so through trial and error I reset the WIFI channel to 11 and got the existing speakers worked fine. I added the Beam to a Samsung UN43NU6900FXZA 4K UDH television. I connected using HDMI cables. Set up the Beam using the Sonos App. Though there were a couple hiccups, it connected and created a Theater Systems with the Beam and (2) Play 3s. Works fine for 3, 5 even 15 minutes then audio cuts out while watching TV. It might stay off for 3, 5 or even 15 minutes, then it cuts on. I played with the TV settings for audio which allowed for TV speakers, HDMI, and a third Optical option. It came up as connected to HDMI. When I toggled up to TV SPEAKER it would for a brief moment, play on the TV but then it would shift back to HDMI still with no sound. If I moved it to optical, it wouldn't stay there either. While trying to setup surround sound on my beam and 2 x play:1’s I get an error message saying it failed to setup. I have tried resetting up all the speakers about 6 times now and it fails every time. All speakers are updated and I’m setting up on my iPhone 8plus with the Sonos app up to date. Network is fine and tested and I can get the beam working with the TV (LG) fine but no surround sound. HELP!

I have an ingoing issue what I cannot find a solution to online. I cannot get 5.1 Dolby sound to work only stereo when I use my Xbox One X and using a sonos beam for sound via my Samsung TV (QE55Q8FNATXXU). This works fine in 5.1 dolby on apps on the actual tv but not via my external device xbox one x on passthrough. (HDMI) I have my sonos beam connected via HDMI ARC on the TV on the correct port. The option to select anything but PCM in the TV's sound settings is greyed out. and the settings to change from stereo to 5.1 or bitstream will also not work/select on my xbox, only stereo uncompressed is working. For such an expensive TV and great brand like Sonos I expected no problems like this. Hope someone can help it's driving me nuts.

I have a Sonos Beam and a Panasonic Viera TXP-42GT30. The query is using Alexa via the Sonos Beam. I can ask Alexa to turn the TV sound up as well as turning the TV on/off. The issue is when asking to change TV channels and Alexa details that it can't find the TV device and go the Amazon Alexa app to enable the Panasonic TV via the Skills & Games section. I then search for Panasonic TV which I find & then click on 'Enable To Use'. It then asks me sign-in with my Panasonic ID, which I do. It then asks me to register the device first 'Please check the device information in "Smart Speaker Setting" on your TV This is numeric only and has four fields - you can enter 12 digits by the look of things. Where do I find the Device ID? I have looked through the Panasonic TV setting and cannot readily find it. Please advise or let me know if there is another way to get this to work,

I just purchased a Sonos Beam and Sony 900f. The Sonos beam is plugged in via the Sony HDMI eARC port, and the TV will initially turn on. However, after I turn the TV off and it's off for an extended period of time (perhaps 12+ hours), the TV will not turn back on. Nothing else is plugged into the Sony TV or the Sonos beam and both are running the latest updates. I tried doing a factory reset on the Sony TV, same issue. I'm pretty sure this problem only started after I hooked up the Beam and likely only occurs with the Sonos Beam hooked up. I unplugged the beam from the TV tonight and expect all will be working fine tomorrow. Is this a known issue with the Sonos Beam and 900f when running current firmware / OS? Thanks. Paul

I have a Beam, and 2 ones surround. After last update, TV sound cuts out around every couple minutes. Music is fine. Doesn't matter if I am watching live TV or recorded TV. This is very annoying. My beam and 2 ones completely cut out and not present on the controller a couple of weeks ago. Unplugged the Beam and re-connected, it came back. Have a Samsung UN55JS700DF, HDMI arc from TV to Beam.
