Just got my Sonos Beam - love it so far.  I’m using it with a TCL Roku TV (2018 model), and I have it paired with a sub and two Sonos Play 1’s.  The Beam is connected to the TV’s ARC input. My wife watches TV at night and just wants to hear the sound from the TV, no Sonos speakers.  I saw this post ( https://en.community.sonos.com/home-theater-228993/bypass-sonos-beam-to-hear-tv-sound-6827573 ) which says to go to the TV menu and toggle the audio back to TV speakers.  But in the TCL audio menu, you have the option to have the TV speakers on and off, and it’s totally independent of what’s happening with ARC.  Regardless of whether you set the TV speakers to on or off, the audio is being sent out the ARC port to the Beam.  And there doesn’t seem to be any way to disable the audio from coming out the ARC port. Does anyone have a TCL Roku TV and figured out a way to temporarily bypass the sound going to the Sonos system?

I’ve been using my playbase as the primary speaker for watching television for several months, and I am still unable to configure it to produce proper sound for dialogue. This is extremely frustrating and disappointing. IT SUCKS! I have meddled extensively with the EQ settings, voice enhancement , and night mode. The midrange sound produced by Playbase for dialogue is unacceptable, especially for such an expensive piece of hardware from a brand I’ve trusted & enjoyed for nearly a decade. Dialog sound is muddled, tinny, distorted and narrow. I see on the boards this is a very common complaint, especially among audiophiles and existing Sonos customers who have enjoyed their other products. The Playbase appears to be an epic fail. I am at my wits end. I’m going to demand a full refund from Sonos unless this is resolved in the next 24 hours. I’m just sick of it. ???????

Hi Guys,I just thought I’d let you all in on a little hack that I’ve found that allows you to add as many speakers as you like to the sonos playbar when watching movies with no lip sync issues. Say what now? But what about that 70m/s delay I hear you say? Well - allow me to explain. First of all - you’ll need an apple TV with TVOS 13 installed and an iphone running IOS 13. Whats so cool about TVOS 13 and IOS 13? Well - it has this magical little function called wireless audio sync for the apple TV. Woohoo! But Not all apple TV’s are able to run TVOS 13 so you’ll need to make sure you have a compatible apple TV and likewise for your iphone so it can run IOS 13  So, here’s what you do. Crank up your apple TV and TV Reset your TV’s lip sync settings back to zero Go to your sonos playbar in the sonos app,  find the lip sync function and drag it all the way to the right hand side (thats right - delay the audio - why? so it will match up with the 70m/s delay in your other speakers - it seems

I am currently using my AMP with Bowers and Wilkins speakers as LR and love the sound. The phantom center channel works really well for what it is. My questions are: 1. Will the Beam with Sub and two Play:3’s (I already have the Sub and Play:3’s in a different room) work better for TV and movies? And 2. If I do that can I keep the AMP where it is and powering the BW’s simply for quality stereo listening? I also have a turntable connected to the AMP. I would leave this with the AMP. I know that sound is subjective. Even so, I welcome opinions before going out and purchasing more equipment. Thanks! Alan

I am a big movie watcher and I paid good money for my SONOS speakers because I wanted to have wireless 5.1 surround sound, NOT stereo surround sound. Such as if someone is behind you, you will hear footsteps behind you and not all around you, center channel included. So far I am not hearing that from the SONOS, what’s really fustrating is I have no way to “really” tell. Some speakers come with surround sound programs that allow you to hit a speaker channel in a room setting placement and test where is it coming from so that you can see that it’s working. Since SONOS doesn’t provide their own tests for this I’ve been bootlegging these tests and applying it to the SONOS, so far I’m not hearing the SONOS 5.1, I’m only getting stereo, and SONOS doesn’t have their own tests for this either. When I watching movie, it seriously still sounds like stereo surround sound, 2.1.  So far I have yet to meet anyone that can prove to me that SONOS is outputting true 5.1 surround sound. I wanted to get a Sonos playbar with a sub to make a complete 5.1 set with the stereo pair play 3 that I already owned. Should I wait for the playbar 2? Because the playbar 1 is lacking a lot of feature compared to the beam like airplay 2, hdmi arc, which is very helpful because my tv uses a RF remote so the IR sensor on the playbar can’t pickup the signal. 

It would be a great addition to have a ‘TV Playback’ option in the surround sound settings, in the same way that there is a ‘Music Playback’ Option that can be switched from ‘Ambient’ to ‘Full’.Often times for movies, it would better to have the surround sound speakers actually push through vocals/words and main audio sounds, rather then just background music or ambient noise. In the same way for music setup, sometimes its better to hear a full range of sound/audio.Hopefully this makes sense, as the added ‘Music Playback’ option was a fantastic update! 

Hello all! i have the Sonos Playbar under my TV with three Sonos One in the living room. When I Play a movie with the Sonos App slider pretty low to the left of the slider, the talk level is fine but any “action” noise the volumn is deafening any suggestions on keeping the speakin/action voulmn equal? thanks 

Can anyone tell me if the lip sync issues can be corrected with the Sonos playbar and LG Oled c8 tv? I have two LG Oleds C8 tv's with the sonos Sound bar, sub and two rears. The lip sync delay is terrible with directv and even worse on the tv's apps such as youtube, hulu, and netflix. I almost need to turn off the sound bar and use the tv speakers. I have tried everything I have read online. Turned off dolby on the directv, tried lip sync feature on lg tv and sonos app but the sound is after the picture and no way to move the sound up. Not sure why Sonos does not allow HDMI arc audio. There has to be a way to fix this!!! I have read the need to buy an optical switch or to plug the optical cable into the directv box but that will not help with the lg apps for netflix, hulu or amazon. I hear that lg blames sonos and sonos blames LG. I have to think it is Sonos fault for not using hdmi ARC audio like most other sound bars.

Hi guys, So, when the TV is off, HDMI-CEC is of no use, and you can't control the volume with the remote of your TV. By sacrificing HDMI-CEC, you lose the option turn off TV, and some other useful bits, BUT... if you program the IR sensor to work with your TV's remote, you can use it for volume control even when the TV is off. That is better than HDMI-CEC for me. :) Hope you find is useful as well!

Im looking to set up my home cinema. Can I use my amp to power two rear surround speakers and a third party subwoofer, while using two “Ones” for the front left/right? Or a play5 for the front? Thanks, Lewis

I have an epson VS250 that is currently running a chrome cast out of the HDMI port on the back of the projector. I am running a 3.5mm to (red & white) RCA which is directly plugged into my play 5 with line in turned on. I haven’t been able to get any sound out of the play 5. I’d be super appreciative of any tips to get this working! Thanks a ton!

My new beam's audio cuts out intermittently, say every 15 minutes, for several seconds on my Sharp smart tv. I only have a beam + tv setup connected via HMDI ARC (no additional surround speakers). My diagnostics number is: 727740947. Any help would be appreciated. I noticed this issue only recently. All cables are in and not loose.

I have a Sony TV, about 3 years old. I have bought a Samsung soundbar and Sonos One SL speakers to set up a surround sound sytem, but cannot get The TV bluetooth to connect to anything wirelessly. Any ideas please?

I've been trying to watch videos using my old Sonos speakers for years without success: I kept getting sound delays or had to go through unreliable, convoluted tweaks. Until I found out about this trick that allowed me to use room filling digital audio for movies, using my existing Sonos setup, in perfect sync. It prevented me from having to invest in yet another expensive sound bar for movies, while perfectly fine Sonos setup was around in my living room. The solution does not involve the Play:5 line-in, which never was a real option, as it adds an audio delay that ruins image/audio sync. Anyways, the solutions below is working well for me so far. Limitations: Digital stereo sound only, no surround or 5.1 Need to have at least 1 Sonos AirPlay speaker, if you don't have one already (min 99$). Your Sonos AirPlay speaker may need to be muted each time you start a movie, if you don't use it for your home cinema. What you'll need: Apple TV (4th gen) or Apple TV 4K, with tvOS 13

Hi, I can't seem to get my TV remote to pair with my Sonos system. Otherwise the hook up went as normal. I have tried on numerous occasions, the Sonos system doesn't recognise my input on the volume button. Any help gladly received! Thank you

I have a Sonos Connect connected to my stereo and 3 sonos:1 speakers. My Sonos Connect will not stay connected to the network and when it does, only works for a short period of time before I need to unplug and re-plug it. Even that sometimes will not work to get it back on the network. Is Sonos Connect so sensitive that it needs to be so far away from any other wireless hardware? I have no connectivity problems with any other devices, including Apple TV, PCs, phones, iPads, etc. I recently connected the Connect again and ran a diagnostic: 8234741

Hello everyone! I got Playbase with Sub and just bought 1 Move. I would like to use 2 Moves as back speakers. FAQ states that I can't use 2 Moves as surround speakers, but at the same time it states that I can pair them with 5.1 system, which Playbase with Sub is. So how exactly Moves can be used as?

Question on my current setup before I mess things up and change settings. I have a beam, sub and 2 5's setup in my family room. One of the 5's is connected to a turntable. I have not setup the system for surround on my TV but am considering do it. Currently when I listen to music all speakers are synced throughout the house. When i watch TV it uses the Beam and Sub. So, if I setup a surround setup while watching TV will I be able to group all speakers together easily when listening to music and will it automatically change to the Surround Setup when I turn on the TV? Also will my turntable be easy to connect to the line in and play records as it is now? Right now its seemless and works great. Want it to stay that way if possible. Thanks for the input!

Hi - anyone have any advice on connecting a 2015 Loewe Connect 40 TV to the Playbar? Audio out on the TV is not an optical cable, but weirdly an RJ45 (Ethernet-style) outlet.

I am looking to buy a new Samsung TV The Frame 3.0 (2019) and have some questions regarding the Sonos compatibility specific to this tv. Current setting: Beam 2x Ones Sub All speakers are connected using the Sonos Boost. Will this TV output 5.1 surround to Sonos if I connect the Sonos System using the HDMI Port? Are there any current issues with Sonos and this particular TV? I'd appreciate any answers from the community as I've had a few issues with Vizio Smart Cast P-50 in the past regarding audio drops and want to make sure I am making the correct decision before buying a new TV.

Hi, My setup is as follows: soundbar in front i will upgrade it with: 2 sonance in ceiling speakers in the back, connected to the Sonos Amp Which will make it 3.0 surround I guess I would like to upgrade to 3.1 with an in wall subwoofer, which connects to the (passive) sub port on the Amp. but don’t know which models I can use. I want to avoid a model standing on the floor like the Sonos Sub. It doesn’t have to be too large, just add some extra umph. sonance and OSB has some models, but there are passive. Does this mean they are fully compatible if I connect an amplifier between the subwoofer and the Sonos Amp? I was looking for active in wall woofers, but could find those. All advice is welcome thanks in advance lwaar

Hey all --- before I invest in another 65" 4K TV for a full Sonos home theater setup (Sub & Playbar), haven't seen any recent listing of all the current 2019 model Samsung and Sony 4k TV's and how compatible the Sonos systems are with Audio. Specifically looking at 65" Sony X950T and 65" Samsung QN65Q70R Any feedback would be great!

Hope I can get some help, I just bought a new Sonos play bar and sub. It was working fine but now I'm getting sound hickups with playing audio from my TV and Xbox one X. If I stream music from the play bar it sounds fine. I also noticed If I change my apple TV from 5.1 Dolby sound to stereo sound the issue goes away. I take it if I do the same on my xbox that will also fix the problem. I have a Sony 950g TV playing all the sound from the soundbar and sub. TV speakers are not on. I have tried a number of trouble shooting steps like change wireless channels, disconnect the sub, unplugged the soundbar and powered back up, unplug the optical cable and connected it back up. Not sure how to fix this. Changing it to stereo sound feels like i'm missing out on great sound quality. Any Ideas on how to fix this?
