Home Theater

I just bought an Arc and two Ones. I ran TruePlay and music is fantastic. TV dialog is hard to understand, I've tried several shows and movies. Can I adjust at all? The TV controlled don't allow for HDMI output. Thanks!

Hi allI have a beam and just purchased 2 ones to act as surrounds. I have a Samsung tv which is about 6yrs old. It has a hdmi port but it is not hdmi arc so I am connecting the beam via optical. I also have an Apple TV I use as a set top box. Difficulty I am having is because my beam is connected via optical I can only get pcm audio from my tv and the surrounds are extremely low volume. The tv supports dts neo 2.5 but only through the hdmi not the optical, it seems. Is it even worth having the surrounds with just pcm? i have to say I expected a lot better than this for $400. Any help much appreciated

I purchased an Arc. Also have the sub and 2 Gen 2 5's as surround speakers. Replaced a Playbar. May I use the Playbar in a different room and create a 2d home theater with a surround system? I have Playbar 3s to use as the surround speakers.

We recently added a Sonos Arc, Sub and a pair of One SLs to our Sonos system to replace a Denon AVR (with B&W surrounds and Emotiva subs) that died. I love the Sonos system and have been a Sonos customer since the company first started - we have speakers in almost every room in the house. But something is definitely odd about the Arc. The new system sounds great when listening to music or watching video with no dialog. Dialog, however, is muffled and almost impossible to hear. It doesn’t matter what settings I use in the Sonos app.It may be that I’m simply getting old (I’ve been an audiophile since the mid-70s) so I decided to try a set of bluetooth headphones with a new preamp/transmitter or go back to the wired system. Lo, there doesn’t appear to be a way to connect the Arc to anything but an eArc input (not output) on a TV. As I understand it, the Arc wants to use the return channel for audio, not the primary, so there’s no way to connect it to a preamp/AVR even if it does have H

I have placed an order on an Amp and a pair of stands to place my Wharfedales. The idea at first was to sell the Arc and use the speakers and Sub with Amp as a stereo music/HT setup. Now I'm beginning to think what if I am disappointed with the stereo+phantom center performance for DD+ material. So I thought if that's the case i would keep Arc and Sub for TV and just use the Amp and speakers for music. The Wharfedales have a big woofer and go down to 40Hz so should be awesome for music. The issue is the speaker stands which would be obstructing the Arc side speakers. The side speakers vacancy would be around 30cm. Is this enough? I should mention my room is terrible, I get 0 virtual surround effect and my sound stage is very ordinary. So I am guessing I'm not loosing much by obstructing the side speakers? Thanks.

Replaced Playbar with Sonos Arc Connecting:ATV4K + Xbox + ATT Osprey + Nintendo Switch To Roofull HDMI Switch To HDFury Arcana To HDMI port on Samsung One Connect box To 2016 Samsung JU7100  and the Arcana e-arc output to the Sonos Arc + 2 Play1 surrounds + Sonos Sub   Controlling with Logitech Harmony companion remote, switches everything on / off perfectly so far. Well worth it  the sound is amazing and definitely noticeable better than Playbar.  The Atmos content is immersive  If you have an older TV and external devices that support Atmos this setup works well.  A few more cables than before, but no need to mess with any Arc from the TV  as all the devices are external.Ps: The Arcana has a loose USB-C connector, HDfury  responsive and they are working on an RMA.

Hello!I’m currently working on my future appartement and would like to have multiple Sonos amp. I would like to have a 3.1 configuration with : One Sonos Amp in my “Automotation closet”, with 2 Front Speaker Wired (with phantom center) One Sonos Amp near my TV, connected to the TV through HDMI ARCIs it possible to have this two sonos amp working together ? Thanks!

I recently bought the SONOS Arc + Sub + One to use it with my LG CX tv and I configured the system along with setting up the Magic Remote.  When I just want to use the Arc without turning on the tv (eg. for playing songs using Alexa) I cannot control the volume of the Arc with the Magic Remote. Is there a way to make this work? The volume control works when the tv is on though.

Hi All,I have an ARC, sub and rear SL’s. I previously had a Samsung Q90r. Don’t get me wrong the Samsung had many flaws but its ATMOS sound was very immersive. I don’t really get that from the ARCs ATMOS its a bit half hearted. I think Sonos should of released some rear upfiring speakers if its really wants to compete in the ATMOS soundbar market with the likes of the LG SN11 and the Samsung Q90r etc. In all other aspects I love my ARC but the ATMOS needs some more ooph to it.@Sonos if you can put this request forward. Thank you

So, got my LG CX, 65”. Currently the problem is that I have 2 sonos ONE speakers, enjoying them for the last 3 years, and was looking forward to buy SONOS arc for ultimate TV experience (not getting the sub atm). The problem however is the placement. I don’t have that much space. Wall mount is not an option. Any suggestions ? Based on the pictures and my calculations I know I can move back the TV to the wall to fit the Arc on the shelf, however, I might need to put “something” in the same shape for LG CX65” under so it “lifts up” so to speak. By lifting up I mean see all of the screen as ARC will block (9CM tall) the tv view.Anybody has / had similar issue? What kind of solution that would be? Thanks in advance!

I have severe high frequency vocal sibilance distortion. Had it bad with both Arc and Beam. Lowering treble to minimum or TruePlay doesn't help much. The problem is my auditory perception. Someone advised to place a bath towel over Beam. I thought it was a joke. It's no joke. The thick fabric absorbs much HF energy while the midrange mostly passes through. Works better than any treble adjustment for me. So now I want to implement this on Arc. Since it is so wide I would like to target the center tweeter and tape a piece of fabric. Does anyone know the exact tweeter location in the center? Right the middle where it says Sonos or slightly to the left? Slightly right? Can't make it out exactly from thishttps://media.wired.com/photos/5ed7f8f4181421e8a6345331/master/w_2400,h_1800,c_limit/Gear-Sonos-Arc---Exploded-View.jpg I would appreciate only concrete helpful replies. If you want to make a mockery of this ancient EQ technique or comments about sound quality id prefer private messages. Th

I’ve just moved and have a Beam and 2 SLs Ones as surrounds.I’ve run Trueplay but just wanted to check does it automatically work out which SL One is left and which is right? I couldn’t remember which one was which in the original setup and now I’m over thinking when I’m watching content whether they are left/right correctly. Thanks

Once upon a time, I owned a PS3 and a Sonos Playbar.  I seem to remember that I was able to force the PS3 to transcode DTS to Dolby Digital and I would then bypass my tv to get that to the Playbar (as the TV would convert anything from HDMI to PCM).  That PS3, TV and Playbar is now long gone and instead I have an LG GX and two Sonos AMPs.  I now again need a Blu-ray player to play my old collection of movies but it needs to have HDMI-CEC and preferably also some app-control.  Do I remember correctly that the PS3 would transcode on the fly and is that still the case? I can pick up used ones for pennies so it would be an easy solution.

Beam and surrounds (play 1s) go into mute mode when I turn tv off (solid green light). Have to manually hit volume button now to play music. Never used to happen. Started this week after Sony update and move to S2. TV Sony xbr55x850D. Hookup thru arc. Diagnostic number:302588424

Hello out there,I have an sonos beam with two play1 and sub for about a year now. I just noticed recently that system is not playing in  dolby 5.1, but instead in pcm,/ surround. My tv is a vizio 652ui-b2 and my cable/satellite service is direct tv. I looked at my audio tv settings and it was set on PCM. So I switched it to bitstream. And my sonos beam started playing in dolby. So I thought I fixed the problem. But when I tried to use my remote the sound cut off.  I then switched the tv back to PCM, and everything worked ok. But I'm not getting dolby sound from my sonos. This kind of defeats the purpose of having a sonos system. If anyone out there had this issue?  let me know please thanks

We have been building some higher end homes and find the clients want larger and larger TV’s but when mounting these TV’s over a fire place, book shelf or other obstacle it leaves very little room for a sound bar. Has anybody else thought of taking a sound bar and having it come apart in two pieces that could be mounted on each side of the TV vertically or horizontally, this would provide room for the TV to be  mounted lower giving a better viewing angle yet keeping the center audio projection at the TV.

HiI have a Beam with 2 Sonos One in my living room. When I use my TV as the sound source most of the sound comes from the Beam and there is low volume from the Sonos Ones. I do not get the true surround sound. When I use my Macbook Pro as the sound source then I get a true surround sound experience. I can play the same TV program from my MBP and then from my TV and I can hear a definite difference in the sound quality as I switch from one source to the other. I have tried all the audio settings I can find on the TV and YouView boxand have not been able to improve the sound. Can anyone help ? My set up is:Panasonic TV TX-L37G10BBT Youview+ Freeview set top boxBeam is fed from Optical out from TV

I am trying to install a Sonos Arc right above my motorized projector screen. Please see digram. There is a hanging decorative box in the middle of my middle room which is ideal to install an in-ceiling flushed motorized projector screen,  ~16 feet throw distance to the projector.  This room also has vaulted ceiling.  I am planning on using HDFury Arcana to split the 4K+Atmos from Apple TV 4k and send audio to Sonos Arc and 4k Video to projector. Since there is nothing in the middle of the room (no walls) to install the sound bar, the only place I can think of is above the screen , right at the edge (see digram).  Atmos requires upward angled speakers to drive sound with an angle to the ceiling so they can reflect back to the listening position and create the feeling of fully emerged sound. In order to get the front facing speakers in Arc to point to the sitting position, I have to tilt down the arc about 28 degrees. This means the already angled speakers on top of Arc will be pointing

By now everyone has heard about the HDfury Arcana: eARC Adapter that is now available for pre-order.  It’s touted to relieve lip-sync issues associated with the Sonos Arc among other things. Read about the proposed benefits of the HDfury Arcana: eArc Adapter here. This information is not intended to deter anyone from ordering the Arcana (I’m contemplating ordering it for testing).  However, my expectations are not that it will be a “cure-all” for every situation regarding Sonos. Below are two things regarding the HDfury Arcana: eARC Adapter you should know: The Arcana may negate Alexa/Google voice assistance between your TV and the Arc (as well as the Beam). Things such as on/off, volume and input switching via voice. Note: The Stretch Goal for the Arcana claims it may not  The Arcana will not bring Dolby Atmos to the Beam; although it may improve DD5.1 interoperability with some sources and reduce lip-sync issues While the above may seem obvious...experience here in the community h

Hijust set up my new Arc with my Sony A1 oled tv  I have done plenty reading here about atmos/arc/earc etc  sony a1 does not have eArc which I knew !but maybe I read too much here  about this so maybe someone can clear something up for me ! set was easy and  arc sounds beautiful …now I have upgraded from a pretty old home cinema so any upgrade would be better ..doh !! anyway while playing a a good example of Dolby 5.1  I tried “6 underground” on Netflix, I seen that this was in Dolby atmos …so expected it to play in Dolby 5.1 while playing through the Sonos app the sound says on the app Dolby atmos !!if I do not  have an eArc on Sony a1 should this not say Dolby 5.1 Iam  sure i read here that the app will play/decode only what it receives from tv

I received my ARC today and my immediate impression is that it is a major step backward from the sound quality of the BEAM.  Anyone swapped out the BEAM for an ARC and achieve positive results?  Same iPhone 12 phone used for Trulpay tuning of both setups.  Anyone regretted not returning their ARC within the 45 day window?   I really want to love this thing but it doesn’t sound as good as it’s little brother IMO.

I have an  Sonos Arc connected to a Samsung TU8000 television via EARC. I am unable to watch DTS encoded blu rays because my TV won't pass through LPCM, but rather only passes through stereo PCM. What is my least expensive workaround for this issue? I don't understand why it was a benefit for Sonos to issue a firmware update to support LPCM when according to rtings.com no television can pass-through multi channel LPCM. Thanks for any help.

I am planning to set up Sonos Sub + Sonos Amp + HiFi bookshelves. Is there a possibility of purchasing a Graphic Equalizer and via Amp EQing the system's sound? Most importantly frequency range of 1k-9k, mainly treble. If I can EQ the Sub that's great but my main goal is EQing the speakers. Thanks.

I currently have a projector with an Amazon Firestick and a BluRay player plugged into its two hdmi inputs. Stereo audio out from the projector goes to a stereo Bluetooth speaker (JBL Extreme) via a cable.I've just moved house and now have a dedicated cinema room. I want to use a Sonos Arc to give me a Dolby Atmos capability but need to be able to stream videos (from a 4K Amazon Firestick), play BluRay videos and also play Xbox games. The Arc only has a single HDMI input so what's the solution?

I’m looking for advice on which Sonos product I could use with ViewSonic X10-4K - a wireless connection doesn’t seem to work, so I believe I’d rely on cable connection? I’d appreciate any help, thank you.
