I have an Sonos Arc connected to a Samsung TU8000 television via EARC. I am unable to watch DTS encoded blu rays because my TV won't pass through LPCM, but rather only passes through stereo PCM. What is my least expensive workaround for this issue? I don't understand why it was a benefit for Sonos to issue a firmware update to support LPCM when according to rtings.com no television can pass-through multi channel LPCM. Thanks for any help.
Me again.
Your least expensive workaround is the HD Fury Arcana. It will allow your Blu-ray player to bypass your TV.
Note the DTS/DTS-X codecs are not currentlysupported by any of the Sonos products, including the Arc.
edit: Sorry, I misread the opening post please ignore my reply above.
I got my Arc this week and set it up with a relatively new Samsung Q80t and Apple TV. I quickly had the loss of sound issue. Total loss. Sound just quit from both Xfinity box and Apple TV. The only way I could fix it was to switch from eARC to HDMI in the TV settings.
Then I posted my problem to Reddit and received a possible solution. In the expert settings menu under sound settings on the TV you can pick Auto, PCM or Pass-through. Use Pass-through. It just passes the sound format from the source to the Arc without messing with it. So far, this has solved my problem and I believe gives me all the advantages of eARC.
I’m surprised I’ve not seen this on the forum. Perhaps it is here somewhere. Anyhow, try it. Worked for me amd others.
