Can’t get speaker to produce sound. Not an issue of power or network. Other speaker works fine.why

I am trying to set up two Sonos Era 100 speakers using the new Sonos app (dark background), but both are showing the following error during the registration process:“There was a problem setting up. Our customer support team is ready to help.” I have already tried the following steps: Performed a full factory reset on both speakers (green flashing light). Restarted my router and mobile phone. Attempted to set up one speaker at a time. Confirmed that my phone is connected to the same 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. I’m using only the new Sonos app and have uninstalled the S1 app.  Unfortunately, none of these steps have solved the issue. The speakers still appear as “Not registered” in the app. I suspect they may be associated with another Sonos account or there may be a firmware issue. I kindly request: Support to unlock or manually register the speakers. Confirmation of whether there are any additional limitations I should be aware of. 

AI postulates, that the “Play 5, Gen 1” can detect placement-direction (vertical/horisontal) - and adjusts according to that (mono/stereo). With the “Five” it is a YES!and the “Five” is physically built to be placed “In 3 directions”...BUT,The “Play 5, Gen 1” are NOT built to be anything but standing Horisontally!Yet, AI writes:  “Yes, the tweeters in the original Sonos Play:5 (gen 1) play separate left and right signals when the speaker is positioned horizontally for stereo sound.  When placed vertically, the speaker automatically switches to mono.” Since I have never yet owned nor listened to these speakers, then I ask you:“Is it bogus (as I conclude), what the AI do clearly write (/has been fed with) ?”

Hello All BBC sounds channels and podcasts have stopped playing on my Sonos system this morning having worked fine yesterday. Is anyone else having this problem in the UK? Thanks 

When, Oh WHEN will my Sonos app list my playlists alphabetically? They are already alphabetical in my Tidal streaming service. Surely this is possible?

Hi, new to the community and not much, but so far very good experience with Sonos.I am currently setting up a gelato/coffee/dessert Bar, and looking for a easy speaker solution. Doesn’t need to be ultra loud, just a good back-round sound.Ceiling is 3.60m high. Roughly 7 meter wide 9 meter long room. Most seating will go on the left side, while bar, coffee machine and gelato display will be on the right. Wondering if 2 x Era 300 would be enough and if a placement above the seating on the left (2m high) would be a good choice. Hope this makes sense, sorry for the poor picture… Any advice appreciated! 

Hello,I recently purchased 5 Sonos speakers. 2 Era 300, 2 Era 100 and a mini sub. I got them specifically to play music downstairs in our home.I have one room w/ an Era 100 and mini sub that about 50% of the time won’t play with the rest of the speakers. It’s always the era 100 and sometimes the mini sub, but sometimes the sub is ok. There’s no reasonable explanation for why. The speaker is < 6 feet from a wifi router. No other devices in the downstairs show any kind of wifi issues… ever. I have a 6GHz high end wifi router w/ additional hot spots in our home. Nobody in the house ever had Wifi issues w/ any kind of device.It’s also sitting right next to an Alexa, that never has issues playing or responding. To get it to work, I have to manually pull the power cable, wait for it to boot back up, go into the app and apply it to play on all rooms. It’s a pain.I’ve read online, and it seems’s there’s no reasonable solution here. Do I just return all of these? I’m not sure what to do, but

I just bought the Port system.  I connected it to my wifi just fine.  Then about a week later I bought the EERO Mesh system as the wifi in my house needed help.  I found that if my phone was connected to the Mesh it would not run the Sonos, so I would have to change the wifi on my phone.  This seemed silly so I decided to update the network on my Port to the Mesh.  However, it won’t work.   I can see that the Mesh sees the Port when on Ethernet, but nothing will work to acdtually switch the Port over to the Mesh system.  I’ve restarted,  i’ve factory reset but nothing.  Any suggestions or is the port not compatable?

Currently my set up is this.   SKY Q, Samsung 4K TV, Beam and 2 x Play 1.  The surround sound works brilliantly.    The beam connects via EArc HDMI on the back of the TVBUT I am ditching Sky due to massive cost increases and want to use Apple TV 4K instead.I have set up the Apple TV 4k box and connected it to the TV.  The Sonos connections are all as they were before.  Apple TV 4 K settings show as Audio Format DD5.1 and Audio mode - Auto.I  have some major issues trying to get the sound (and sync) to work properly and woud appreciate and help or advice on how to resolve. How can I get Apple TV4K to allow my Sonos system to be “Default Audio” as no matter what I do the only ‘default’ that shows is TV speakers. Sonos will appear in Temp Audio but as soon as you swop apps/channels  that Temp setting reverts back to TV speakers.   Even when changed to Sonos via Temp Audio the speech comes out of all 3 speakers instead of just the sound bar - so I am not getting surround sound but what app

Hi, I’ve purchased a used Sonos 5. I have set an account on the Sonos website but, when I go into the app, it asks me to  sign in but gives me (I guess) part of the previous owners email address and, I cannot submit my own.could you please advise of a solution to this issue?thanks 

Brand new Era 100 stereo pair will not airplay. Have Sonos Beam connected to my TV and every time I attempt to Airplay via IPhone and IPad I receive a message “Control other speakers and TVs.” Then a message “unable to connect to Family Room.” Tried rebooting speakers without any change. I have a one SL in another room that works with airplay 

Hi, I love entertaining and keeping my music in the Bathroom, but sometimes I want to crank and jam on certain speakers but don’t want all my speakers in my group cranked. I suggest adding a volume lock feature so while speakers are grouped, individual ones can be locked so their volume will remain fixed even while the entire group volume is altered. Thank you

My worry (before buying 2 of these, second-hand):That when using them, through a modern wifi-6/ax wifi-connection, then problems will be = the reality. => So, I worry, that the Sonos-Play5-gen1 will have trouble with Wifi-6/AX - because they can connect through BOTH 5-GHz AND 2.4GHz band, and since the 5GHz-band is usually preferred by end-devices - then esablishing & keeping a wifi-connection” seems challenging - unless one does disable at-least “wifi-6/AX” on the 5 GHz-band !!At the same time: Firmware updates-wise, this should be fixable - but sinse these speakers were 9 y.o. when wifi-6 did arrived, then I am unsure.Plus: I see A LOT of end-users selling their “Play-5, Gen-1” speakers - and I fear, that “wifi-6 5GHz” IS a main reason. ANY insight, from people having direct experience with this, is very welcomed.

Still cannot get my local music library to work.Stored in various places on Windows pc with attached hard drive also..Have been onto Support 3 times and they have got it working and then the next day back to the same scenario.. Cannot play music message…. Have tried the delete and re-add library and get the 913 error ..Have tried all the Share and Permission stuff…sooo frustrating..hellp!!

I’m sure there are a ton of conversations on this forum already about the inability to stereo pair Sonos speakers while traveling. I’m presently traveling and can’t use 2 of my Sonos speakers for stereo sound while browsing my computer on top of my bed. And so that’s why I’m here writing to this forum. In the past I’ve shrugged this off, but this scenario keeps coming up over and over any time I go traveling. Hotels and AirBnBs, camp sites, a friend’s house... I’m not there long enough where it’s worth going through the trouble of migrating all my devices over to a temporary wifi network. The process is not quick at all, riddled with obscure timeouts, and when I do it once to connect to the temporary network, I then have to do it again to pair back to my home network. Very cumbersome.My understanding is that Sonos already has “SonosNet”, a separate WiFi network from the home internet that coordinates all the speakers. Hi, my living room is adjacent  to my yard and I can totally open the glasses that separe both to unify the spaces. I’m especially interested in listening to music.I have a Arc Ultra in the living room and I was thinking about buying an Era 300 to put it in the back of the living room and then add a Move 2 to use it in the yard (I don’t want something wired), with the idea of being able to use all of them together for parties when we open the panels.I want to confirm if this configuration will work well?Thanks

When I try to use the Sonos controller on my computer it is no longer able to find my system. If I use the phone app it can’t find my computer where all the playlists are even though it’s using the right network. Using Spotify on the computer works fine, it finds my system with no problem. I’ve rebooted the computer and the router and reset the controller to no avail. Also turned off all products. The App on my phone can see all my products but can’t connect to computer. WiFi settings are correct.

Right off the bat: This is an issue that can only be addressed by the Sonos Mac app development team, because something is wonky with their build/release process such that the latest version of the Sonos S1 app for Mac (as downloaded directly from https://support.sonos.com/en-us/downloads ➡️ https://www.sonos.com/redir/controller_software_mac ➡️ https://update-software.sonos.com/software/72ynP0v9lu/Sonos_57.22-59130.dmg has no valid CFBundleVersion or CFBundleShortVersionString value specified within the app’s Info.plist file. This means for all intents and purposes macOS has no idea what version of the app is installed —which then means that any central software management software, like any macOS MDM for systems management, cannot accurately report on or update the Sonos app in a trackable fashion. This oversight can be confirmed by looking directly at the Info.plist file within the app package, and comparing the most-recent release to a previous version of the app. Or, for a nice GU

Hi, I find it impossible to add my Play:1 to a new network or system. I factory reset the speaker. The setup in the app works smooth: It finds the speaker, recognizes the audio PIN, and even prompts for the wifi name and password. However after copy+pasting (!) the password it always returns the same communication error message:> Your mobile device couldn’t communicate with your Play:1. Check your network connection and try again later.I’ve been now through the millionth factory reset and setup process in the last week. I uninstalled the (new) Sonos App and restarted the phone. I restarted the router. Nothing helped. The speaker works fine if wired though. And I can setup a new system and add a Sonos One SL easily. But it’s the Play:1 that drives me crazy. This is an example of what can happen.Let’s say I want to play ‘Strange Brew’ by ‘Cream’ from an Album called ‘Disraeli Gears’.  The Disraeli Gears album is in a folder called Cream which is in a main folder called ‘Albums’.To start with the metatags are populated for ‘Track Name’ ‘Artist’, and Album Name. (and others but they don’t count).If I play the track on my Windows 11 laptop with only those tags, the data on screen shows the Track Name, ‘01 Strange Brew’ (Track 1), the Artist, ‘Cream’, and the Album, ‘Disraeli Gears’. No problems there!If I play the track on my Android phone, by selecting my Albums as my source folder, and then selecting Play Now to play all tracks, the data on the screen shows ‘Albums’, Cream, Albums. This is not right. Why doesn’t it show the Track Name and the Album Name?If I enter the Track Name in the ‘Titles’ metatags, Android will display ‘Strange Brew’, ‘Cream’ , ‘Albums’.
