Whenever I launch Destiny 2 I get a distortion pop. Audio shows Atmos, but if I go outside the game(the Home Screen or store) while playing I lose audio or it lowers to barely audible.

Since that is n issue only with Destiny 2 and your Xbox, it certainly suggests it isn’t an issue with your Sonos per se, but the signal sent to it. I’d be posting about it in other areas.

Alternately, you could submit a system diagnostic within 10 minutes of experiencing this problem, and call Sonos Support to discuss it. Don’t post the resulting diagnostic number here. I suspect they’ll suggest much the same

But there may be information included in the diagnostic that will help Sonos pinpoint the issue and help you find a solution.

When you speak directly to the Support staff, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system.

It’s likely Destiny 2 resetting the output type on your XBox. Have you communicated this issue to XBox, or the developers of Destiny 2?

Yeah to Destiny awhile back when it started, but no reply. I think it started after an update, cuz Xbox audio shoes Atmos, so does Sonos app. It’s a distortion pop on startup, and then the audio is fine until you go outside the game like the home button, Xbox store, profile, etc. You don’t get logged out of the game, just audio goes almost silent.

Thank you so much, I didn't even know that they had a diagnostic option!

This sounds more like an audio output handshake issue between Destiny 2 and the Xbox system rather than a hardware problem. Since you’re seeing Atmos switching and volume drop when leaving the game, it could be related to how Destiny 2 handles audio focus changes on Xbox Series X.

You might want to try disabling Dolby Atmos temporarily or switching to stereo uncompressed to see if the distortion still happens. Also worth checking if quick resume or background audio switching is causing the drop.

It only does it w/ Atmos IIRC, They(Destiny) had this problem w/ Atmos before, and it was patched. A guy in their forums just told me that they acknowledged it...six most ago lol.
