Controllers and Music services

When are Sonos going to make their app work so that I can play and stop music using it ?At the moment my only option to stop Sonos music is to switch off the electric in my house.No control on my app ever seems to work.I have eight Sonos devices on my home network and some play and some don't.Dreadful.Changing channels used to help a bit but now I can't even do that.Any advice ? Or is Sonos just crap ?

Yesterday when I launched the Windows app for Sonos, it gave a message something like“There’s a new version available.  Some features will not be available until you update.” Given the terrible new iOS app, I declined to update the Windows app.  I couldn’t see any obvious gaps in functionality form what I rememebred. (I hadn’t used it for some time - until the iOS app update last month.)Today, I had no such message.  I have three Sonos devices and one of them is only switched on occasionally. When I powered it up this morning, the app told me it needed a software update, which I performed.  This doesn’t seem likely, to me, as the trigger for yesterday’s message.Has anyone recently updated their Sonos app for Windows?  If so, is it OK, or has it been mangled like the mobile app?And a related question - how do I tell if an app update is available?  If I choose Help > About My Sonos System…the resulting dialogue box says:Sonos Controller for PCVersion: 16.2Sonos OS: S2Build: 79153290So

When I stream songs from Apple Music via the Sonos app, playback is occasionally interrupted with a message of 'Unable to play [insert song name] - the song is not encoded correctly'.It's unpredictable when it happens, sometimes it could be half way through a track and it occurs, also happens multiple tracks in a row. Other times it could go through multiple tracks with no issues then the error suddenly occurs.I've done all the troubleshooting stated on the Sonos website but I'm pretty sure my setup isn't the problem because I use a Radio App and also use YouTube Music via the Sonos app with no playback issues, the error just happens with Apple Music.Has anyone else experienced the same issue? Suggestions on a possible fix?

I have sleep timers but only for externally streamed content.What about content from my NAS?

In the previous version of the app, I was able to have an account for each of the systems I connected to. Specifically, I have two systems, one at my business and one at home. Now, if I connect one account, the other gets disconnected, so I cannot access all the content.I would also like to add that it would be ideal to be able to manage all the systems remotely, as is already possible on the newly published web app (at play.sonos.com).

Hello, we are experiencing a weird problem. We have a Sonos Port on last firmware. It is working fine with sonos radio in android. I would like to add my nas music library. I saw that i have to use a the windows s2 app. But if I install the S2 it doesn’t make me control the PORT at all. I cannot add sources or change music. If i use the WEB APP i can control the music but i cannot add the local media or any kind of other service.Can you help me? 

When playing songs in the Sonos App, there is a red heart mark on the playback interface of QQ Music, NetEase Cloud Music, and Spotify. Click it to add the song to your favorites. The most important thing is that it can be synchronized with the playlists in the apps of each music platform, which is very convenient. However, when playing Apple Music songs in the Sonos App, there is no red heart mark. If you want to add a song to your favorites, you can only add it to the Sonos App, and it cannot be synchronized with the playlist in the Apple Music Appp. It is very inconvenient. Hi all.  I am aware that we all hate the new app and its lack of standard features. It LOOKS like an app built in 2024 but behaves like something built for a Nokia 1610. While I’m at it, is there no way to somehow strike a deal with Apple to reincorporate the hardware buttons on the phone to allow operation of the app? I miss that so bad… such a mission to have to open the app and get my finger to hit the little slider just right for the perfect volume. Or just to skip to the next track?! Why oh why?! Anyway - vent over.  Current bugbear - My music randomly “mutes”. And by that, I mean that the music shows it is playing - the time ticks away and the app goes from one song to the next, but no audio is heard. Please don’t ask me to check volume settings.I have to unplug router and speakers and wait for everything to connect again before restarting the App just to play some tunes.  Maddening!!! Thanks! J

I cannot access my Itunes Music or Playlists. I get the following error message "Unable to play song-cannot connect to my laptop/music because the server cannot be found." I can play all Sonos Radio channels without an issue. I am up to date with updates.

I’m trying to setup TruePlay on my 5.1 system which includes an Arc, the Sub and two Era surround speakers.  The TruePlay process runs through to completion on my iPhone but when I go back into the system the settings appear not be have been saved.I’ve run a couple of other tests.  If I remove the Era 300s from the 5.1 system and set them up as a stereo pair TruePlay works on both individual systems: Arc+Sub & Era 300 stereo pair.The problem is therefore when I merge all four items into one 5.1 system.Is this a known issue?Does anyone have any ideas on how this can be resolved?

Trying to install a new Sonos Beam.  At first, the app recognized the Beam.  Once I connected the Beam to WiFi, though, the app stopped recognizing the Beam.   I can see that the Beam is connected to wifi currently, but it’s like it never existed on the App.  I cannot get the Beam connected as a result.  I reset the app, reset the Beam, reset the router.  Nothing changed.    any suggestions?  Thank you. 

I upgraded from S1 to S2 and am very sorry I did. S2 doesn’t load and when it does, it will fall off quickly. I was listening to music yesterday and couldn’t shut it off because the S2 app just spun and spun and didn’t load. I never had an issue with S1. But Sonos has made it very difficult to simply use S1. Any solutions other than switching to Bose?

Maybe it's time to curtail the music library complaints and accept where the controller app is headed. My guess as to the near-future Sonos preferred customer implementation:A mobile device with bluetooth capability A streaming service on the mobile device A robust Sonos controller app on the device Sonos brand output devices (headphones or portable speakers)There will be a steady roll out of improved and expanded capabilities of the app and the devices and the preferred customer will be a trend-motivated early adopter of the latest consumer tech gadgets who doesn't mind owning previously purchased products that have been discontinued and subsequently unsupported.Just my guess.

I recently purchased a used Sonos amp and having connected to it last month through the Sonos app it is no longer working.when I log into the Sonos app to try and reconnect the amp the app gives me a message advising I need to login as the owner?

I’m having a weird issue with the new Sonos app. Since upgrading it now shows my Sonos system twice (one in a black window; the other grey. Photos attached). I only have one system, but it appears to have been installed twice (?) It usually works, but when I use it, it starts playing in one room (Back deck) and won’t connect to the others (Living room, Kitchen). If I try the “other system” it eventually connects, but I often lose volume control. I often have to go back and forth between the two systems this way. The controller display also often “sticks” on the first song played, meaning if I play, say, a Stones album it stays showing the first song from the album. If I play a new album or playlist, the same first Stones song is displayed (although it will play new music).Some background: I have two newer Sonos Amps and one Connect Amp. One of the newer amps is connected to “Kitchen”; one new amp is connected to “Living room” and the Connect:Amp is goes to “Back deck”. My system worked

LiveOne is my main music streaming service and it no longer works with the new app.I can access LiveOne through the Sonos app, and can see station selections and favorites, but when choosing to play a station, a message appears “something went wrong”. I already tried disconnecting the LiveOne service and reconnecting, reauthorizing, uninstalling and reinstalling the LiveOne app, etc.Please fix this, you have taken away my music!

Hi.just got the beam gen 2 - but i cannot add it to my system. It says not registered, lets fix it. Plays the chime, then i press the button at the back as instructed, and then it says “adding beam to system” then fails after couple of mins. Im using the latest version of iphone app ive reset everything router, phone, beam. I cant get hold of anyone, live chat i go up in the queue not down.  completely at a loss of what to do, if they hide all features behind an app it needs to be absolutely faultless. does anyone have any ideas? it not i guess ill have to return it which is a shame, as it sounds/looks amazing    Thanks in advancelouis 

Trying to respond, long time Sonos, 10 devices, new app is terrible.   Crashes, errors, and cant use it to find what was obvious.   Way to kill Sonos!

Since 3 years i have sonos one devices and never had any problems for installation. Hi, I have done a search but can’t find this being discussed anywhere so I hope this is ok.Since the release of the disastrous new mobile app I have been using my desktop controller to control my system (as I am streaming a local library from a NAS) until such time as Sonos restore the functionality that was previously available. However, I have noticed that since the release of the new mobile app, certain functions of the desktop controller have also stopped working, such as volume control and equalizer. Has anybody else experienced this problem. If so, have you found a way around it? Has Sonos said anything. Will it be fixed alongside the mobile app issues.This really has been a spectacular own goal by Sonos. I only hope everything gets back to normal soon and they learn from this catastrophic episode. Just me then… Moderator edit: combined posts
