Controllers and Music services

Hi guys, At my workplace, we have 2 Sonos speakers and use our laptops to change the music. Someone within the office, not an employee but its a long story, has the Sonos app on there phone and has taken to changing the music and queue leaving us baffled. I've already read that password protection isn't an option but does anyone know of any tricks that might be helpful in either taking the speakers offline for phones or adjusting user settings? Thank you!

I am for using multiple devices for control (Ipad, android tablet, 2 android phones, and a laptop). New user here and I havve no idea how to stop the system (Play 3 with a bridge). I force closed the control app on the android phones and android tablet, shut down the laptop and simply closed the app on Ipad but it won't stop playing. I have to physically mute the Play 3 to not hear it but I'd rather stop broadcasting Pandora thru the Sonos app to the Play 3. How do I stop it from playing? Is there a way to close the app so it no longer tells tells the bridge and play 3 to play?

Newbie here. My parents have Sonos system. Someone very smart set up a couple of speaker zones. (1) bedrooms, (2) patio (3) kitchen. Each of those selections will play between 1 and 5 speakers. I can "group" those selections and play in one, two or three "zones" simultaneously. I am unable to play to only one bedroom. I believe the system was set up with "connect". I'd like to remove the master bedroom speaker from the other bedroom speakers so I can play on that one ONLY. Any suggestions? Thank you in Advance! if I search my music library in Sonos with for example "The Fugees", then nothing comes up. But If I search with only "Fugees", then it lists the album by them. It then displays the metadata alongside the album as being by "The Fugees"! iTunes and even Mac OS finder easily find the album with a search for "The Fugees". It seems the use of the word "The" at the beginning of a search means the results are ignored. If the word "The" occurs anywhere other than at the beginning it works fine. Is this a bug?

We purchased a Zyxec GS 1920 48 port as a replacement switch. I replaced the switch by just connecting it our network, everything worked, I was then told we should add an IP and password. I tried accessing through the default IP (192.168.1.1) but could not. I tried resetting using the button on the side of the switch and now the SYS light is flashing and I cannot connect to it. Have tried restarting but the problem continues. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Anyone else? I am using Yonomi to connect to SONOS, but it is quite buggy... especially if I have my zones grouped, etc. I am PATIENTLY waiting for full integration from SONOS...... hoping it is soon!:D

I understand that my chance for a positive answer is low, but is there any way to downgrade my Sonos system for Windows XP compatibility. I was incredibly disappointed to discover that in a minor version change (7.2 to 7.3), without displaying any warning during the upgrade process, Sonos borked, seemingly irrevocably, my ability to use my main control units (both running Windows XP) with Sonos. I understand that I could have read the changelog, but it's not displayed by default when following the very prominent 'update now' prompt, and I figured that a minor update will solve, well, minor issues rather than break my system. I am incredibly disappointed, and yet it seems that the only advice Sonos provides is: spend more money and change your system. So, any possibility of a downgrade?

I use sonos at my martial arts club to play music during fitness classes etc.. the issue is the router sonos is connected to doesn't have internet connection and when I go on my iPod/iPhone to use the sonos app it tells me to update, I can't update without being connected to that specific router and I can't access internet in order to get the update. How can I update on other devices without being connected to it?

So basically I recently won a Sonos play 1 at work and wanted to sent up my own separate system for myself (my parents already have a Sonos system running through the whole house). Is there anyway to control 2 systems from one app when they are on the same wifi?

Hi, How can I make a backup of the settings in my controller? Can I do it automatically til iCloud? I'd like to do a back up of my playlists and all of my favorites and also of all of my many radio stations I have bookmarked. I have a lot of streams inserted as radiostations - I'd like to backup this too. how come are the menu in "my radio stations" so messy? I'd like to be able to make folders just like when bookmarking in my browsers.

Help Sonos developers. I need a SONOS windows phone APP

Hello, In the past, I've received messages on the Sonos android app that the Sonos App has an update available and I would usually ignore it, providing everything is working reasonably well. Today, however, for the first time, the android app would not let me access Sonos at all until I hit the red "Update" banner. Written above was "Sonos App Needs Updating". When I hit Update, I am taken to the Google sign-in page. I don't ever have my phone signed in to Google. I don't ever want to sign in to Google. But now I can't operate Sonos from my phone. Surely, considering I'm a paid up 'registered' Sonos owner, I could download the app directly from the Sonos website. Or maybe I can? Is that possible? Many thanks.

I purchased a Sonos Playbar and Sub with a Bridge a couple of years ago and they have been amazing ever since! In the near future I intent to purchase another playbar, some Play 5s, some Amps to drive ceiling speakers etc... We have very good wireless coverage throughout the house using Ubiquiti APs, but all Sonos devices are hard wired using CAT6, and I intend to keep this the same as I expand. With this in mind I was always under the impression that the Sonos Bridge was essentially the hub of the system, I thought it was what controlled the full system, kept the settings, organised the rooms, kept the login details for Spotify and other music solutions, pulled updated etc. From what I have been reading though, it is basically just an access point, is this correct? If this is the case then I don't need the bridge I don't think... Can someone confirm? If this is the case, then where are all the settings stored? Spotify is linked to Sonos so what device organises that ? How am I

Just walked through Target and noticed a neat little idea they implemented with a brand priduct called Fabrique. $50 wireless speakers designed to integrate strictly with Alexa. They CLEARLY side stepped Sonos, pushed them out and went on with their own more affordable systems. All speakers work in unison or you can break them up into zones like Sonos. I suspected the last few months Sonos couldnt get the deal done based on how long it was taking them but this pretty much confirms it. Sure "theu want it to be universal and adaptive to ALL AI but writing a simple app to integrate Alexa and push theupdate through shouldnt take but a blink of am eye. I was building my system based on Alexa integration but at least I know now before I invest several K's. Too bad, they are great speakers.

I have an Amazon Echo Dot but can't figure out how to play music through my Play 1s using Echo voice commands. I once installed the Yonomi Android app to do this but couldn't get the whole thing working, so I uninstaled it. Are there any step by step guides to configure Echo to work with Sonos? I have half a dozen Play 1's but no Connect box or anything like that. I don't usually have the Play 1s configured to use Sonos Net because the Play 1 unit I usually connect to the wireless router using an Ethernet cable is the one that gets moved around into other rooms when required. I believe the audio quality is not so great via Echo but I'm only looking for background music so it should be okay for my purposes.

I just saw this app to enable that claims you can control your Sonos system with Alexa using an application which will only run on Windows 10. They say it is not connected to Sonos. Has anyone tried the app? The hitch is that Windows 10 has to be awake for it to be used.

I've been creating sets of stereo speakers quite a bit lately with 2 Play:5's. I don't really understand why I need to physically push a button (get out of my chair 🙂 ) when creating the pairing. When I create it in the app I can tell it which other speaker I wish to be the other speaker in the app - but in the next step I then need to physically press the button on the speaker which is to be the left. Why is this? Can't it at least be a 'press the button on the speaker' or pick it 'from the two speakers below:' option? I understand sometimes the left just has to be the left but usually you know which speaker is which or have just moved one into another room and definitely know. And have to get up again when you set the config.. :( If there is an option of selecting from the list, no one's worse off. 🙂

Sonos, please stop at once this new advertising from within the sonos app. I did not buy your products so that I could receive marketing from within them. I do not want to open the sonos app and be greeted with specials about anything! By all means send an email but please stop using the app as a marketing platform or I'm dumping your brand.

I was prompted to upgrade to 7.2.1 but i do not see the release notes. Please list what the updates are.

I get this warning when I try to play music from my iTunes library stored on my iMac and iPhone. Tried phoning was kept waiting for half and hour then cut off, phoned again, kept waiting another half an hour then cut off! Help please!

Hello, Since Apple has announced AppleMusic API that will be open for developers, is the controller is going to use the new API in order to bring the same exact experience of AppleMusic on iOS to the Controller? Currently the controller is really unusable with AppleMusic due the mismatch. Thanks a lot!

Hi After last update Tunein radio is not showing anymore info about current song playing. Is it a bug into sonos or a change into Tunein? Camillo
