Sometime ago, I asked for people to recommend a music player for my Sonos speakers. I was looking for something to rip my CD collection to that was easy to use and navigate. That thread got closed, but I thought I would provide an update. My initial attempt was a Brennen Helix, but I just never got on with it. The 2nd suggestion was to build your own NAS with a Raspberry Pi. I was not keen, because I wanted something a little more presentable than a collection of devices. Also, I wanted my wife to have full access, so easy to use was a high priorityHowever, with no obvious commercial device out there (or at least one which I could guarantee SONOS connectivity, I bowed to the inevitable and bought another Pi. However, in this case it was in the form of a Waveshare CM4 box, which I could fit tow 512 GB SSD’s. These I have in a RSYNC so have a backup (RAID would be overkill, since it rarely changes), and use SMB to connect with. The device came pre-assembled with PiOS and OMV pre-insta
Hi can anyone tell me what gen sub this is? thanks in advance Moderator Edit: Removed serial number from picture
Excuse my ignorance but I am wishing to play CDs thru a Era 300.I am obviously required to purchase a CD player but can anyone advise if there is a particular brand that is more compatible with Sonos than others. If not, is there anything obvious I should look out for in selecting a brand?i also have a Sonos record deck and am wanting to also play that thru the same Era 300, having previously played thru a Move speaker. Is that possible?Thank You in advance…..
I had an old Telia router (Fast) and suddenly my Move speakers did not appear in my app. I tried to reconnect and even after a reset they were not accessible nor visible. After I spoke to Sonos support in Norway 🇳🇴 they were aware of the problem with Telia routers, which delivers internet access/subscription in Norway. I followed their advice to contact Telia support who also was aware of the problem with some old access routers. Luckily I could change the router for free. But what a waste of time. Does anyone got a clue of might cause the incompatibility. Has Sonos upgraded security protocols or network lately I wober?
I have an open concept first floor with a Sonos beam on a wall mounted TV. I have the amp and 4 speakers not sure where to place them anyone have some suggestions. I don't really need surround sound for the TV looking for more audio for the room. Do i need all 4? what should I do?
Is it safe to install Sonos 8 inch speaker in the drywall without any reinforcement? They weight 9lbs each and will be installed on double drywall ceiling without additional bracing/reinforcement on a retrofit project.
Hi, trying to add a Connect Amp but it requires an update first. It keeps going in a loop (gives update button option, I click it then it loops back to click the update option again)but doesn't show an error code. Also tried downgrading to the previous Sonos S1 app. Fails to find the amp. Tried the usual reboot after factory reset of holding in the speaker/mute button until it goes into pair mode (green colour). Cleared out the android app cached data as well and tried the website app but it doesn't allow you to add a device....grrrAnyone know how to sort this?
I have a Sonos set up that was installed in 2013. In the last 1-2 months, my system will cut out for 5-10 seconds. This will move from room to row with no specific pattern. Sometimes it will happen 3x in a row about 10 minutes apparent. Other times it will only happens once or twice with an hour between. When it cuts out in one room, you will still hear the Sonos playing in another room.I currently have 3x 1st Gen Connect that connect via a Bridge to the Wi-Fi. These 3x Connects support three different rooms. The speakers are not Sonos and are powered by a separate amplifier. So each Connect attach to a different channel on the amp which power the speakers in the respective room. We also have a 4th room that uses a Connect Amp that powers a set of floor speakers. All Connect components are connected via a Sonos Bridge and controlled through the Sonos App (not the S1).I normally steam SiriusXM and Amazon Music. Sometimes we will listen to a CD To trouble shoot, I have install
I have a gen 2 amp that one of the speaker outputs started emitting a crackling sound.. the other output sounds fine… I also have an old amp that doesn’t work. Was wondering if I can swap the outputs?
Hi everyone, I have a problem - I reset the Sonos Amp to factory settings and reconnected it to my Sonos system. I have it connected via LAN, but the Ethernet connection always disconnects and the Amp connects via Wi-Fi. When I return the connection via LAN in the app settings, after about a minute it disconnects and reconnects to Wi-Fi...and so on....Is there any way to fix this? The other Sonos devices are only connected via Wi-Fi....could this be related? The router and network work fine.
I got a new eero router from my service provider a couple of days ago. It has only one ethernet port (my old router had four). Can I use a two-port unmanaged network switch (not a splitter) to make the connection between the amp and router? Any recommendations?
Hi! Bought Sonos port which I´m trying to connect to existing system “living room” where my Sonos speakers are. iOS app, however, put the port to a new system “living room 2” so there is no connection between the devices. I have started several time from scratch and also reseted the port to factory settings. I am stuck. Any help?
I have finally hit the end of my rope with Sonos Connect. The whole system was about to go down the chute when someone said, “No! Wait! The Sonos Amp is what you really need for your turntable!” (OK he said “...need for your vinyls” but, you know...)That’s a lot of scratch when I already have a phono amp. So I was looking at the Sonos Port.Which is also a lot of scratch. And is black - when all my other Sonos gear is white. But my real question is:Is the Port indeed materially better than the Connect? It’s expensive - how soon before the next generation improvement is released?
How many external devices (i.e. LP player and CD Player) can I connect to a Sonos Amp or Port? Can I connect both to one device and if so whioch one do I need?
I was listening this morning when the speakers made a pop/crackle sound and audio stopped. Receiver still plays with other inputs or apple air play. So it’s the port unit. I need suggestions on trouble shooting the port device.
I’ve moved into a house with ceiling speakers in the lounge, hallway, kitchen and outside.I have wires coming out the wall in 2 locations I think, one in the lounge and one in the study. What do I need to connect to these wires? Is it a bridge? An Amp? I asked the seller before me, she’s a little clueless but sent me a picture of a Sonos box which said Amp on it.Do you think I need a professional to hook it all up again? Thanks in advance for any help and advice!
I've got a pair of the Sonos by Sonance architectural garden speakers. Came home tonight and the speaker grill had fallen off one of them onto the patio, clicks back into place no problem. It's Halloween so it must have been ghosts. Only logical explanation. However the little black plastic clip in plate that covers the cables has also come out and I cannot find it anywhere. I'm concerned that with it not covering the wiring the weather will damage them.I need a replacement plastic plate, clip, thing, with sonos written on it. Help!
Hi, is it possible to play/use a vinyl player & link to my Sonos One? Or do I need, say I Sonos Roam to link or use a as bridge to play via Bluetooth? thanks in advance
Hi, I need to update my bridge on my sonos Play 1 and it doesn’t work. I’ve rebooted everything (sonos, mobile and wifi router) and I still get the message « There was a problem setting up your bridge. Our customer care is ready to help ». The problem is I cannot listen to the radios any more. Thanks a lot for your support!
Hi All, I’ve got a Sonos Amp that runs in ceiling speakers in my Kitchen, along with a Sonos Sub Gen 3. In addition to that, I have an Arc and Sub Gen 3 in my living room, and a bunch of Play 1’s around the house. Only the Arc is hardwired into my network all other Sonos products are wireless. The rest of my system works just fine, but my Sonos Sub stops playing after some time and no longer shows up in the Sonos App. If I factory reset the Sub and re-add it, it pairs to my Amp just fine, but will eventually stop playing. The Amp is in my basement and the Sub is on the first floor of the house. They are maybe 30 feet from each other total. I’ve read that the Sub’s “bond” wireless to the player they are grouped with. I’m thinking perhaps my Sub is too far from my amp to keep a good wireless connection. Is there anyway to fix this without moving the sub or amp?
Hey folks, For ~15 years I’ve been running a set of external speakers with internal powered subwoofers (Definitive ProTower 400s) through an NAD 320BEE receiver to a Sonos Connect (gen1) to a Sonos S1 system. I stuck with S1 mostly because the Connect didn’t support S2 and also because I primarily listen to local library, but not interested in reopening the S1/S2 wars here... There are also a bunch of other Sonos speakers in other rooms but that doesn’t seem relevant to this problem. The NAD recently died on me and I’m considering my options. I could buy a new receiver but it seems like overkill as I only use it to connect the speakers to the Connect. I could buy a Sonos Amp, which seems the most straight ahead option but then I’m throwing out a perfectly good Connect. I could buy some some new Sonos speakers, but again, then I’m throwing out some very good speakers as well as the Connect. Are there are other options I should consider, perhaps some good quality mini-amp I should kn
can you have sonos in ceiling speaker in a poolroom ?
Hi - having some problems with using a record player with my system. Currently have:record player with built in phono Move 2 RaySo I connect the record player to the Move 2 via aux. this works fine, and sound comes out of the Move only once record starts. Then I need to manually connect the Ray to the Move to hav it play out of both speakers. But a few things that make player my vinyls less than convenient: every time a record stops, my Ray disconnects sometimes the Ray won’t pair with the Move Sometimes there is a lag with the RayAm I possibly doing something wrong? Is there a way to ensure the Ray always connects to the Move when it stays playing the record? Thanks!
One of my ZonePlayer ZP120s has started buzzing and crackling through the speakers.I’ve swapped it with my other one and there is no fault and the faulty one connected to the good ones speakers has the buzzing fault so it’s the amp itself that is faulty.I’m in the UK is the Amp repairable locally or does it have to be returned to Zonos in the USA?Can I buy a new one my system is still gen one, so i’d need a compatible product.
