Sharing the sub

Hi

In my living room, I would like to connect my Arc Ultra to my Sub.
But this sub is already used by a pair of Five.

I have read here and there that it is not possible to share 1 sub with two different configs.

But how is it possible? As long as both configs are not playing different sources at the same time, why is it not possible?

I guess I am not the only one facing with this issue.

And, sorry, but I do not intend to install a second sub in the same room…

Thanks for your replies/support/ideas

It’s built in to the software. A Sub can be ‘bonded’ to a single ‘room’, and can’t receive instructions from two ‘rooms’  essentially simultaneously. There currently isn’t a ‘solution’ to connect to two rooms.

Hi Airgetlam

thanks a lot for your answer.

i think it is time Sonos reconsider the question…

I have spent more than 2500€ in my living room to have a Sonos equipment and I am blocked due to a software issue…

what a pity

I understand how you feel, I have a Beam HT setup and an Era-300 Pair in the same small room. I want a Sub on both, didn't want or have room for two. Tried swapping back and forth and it wasn't too bad except for having to Trueplay after every swap. Ended up with two full Subs, looked at the Mini-Sub and it wasn't going to save me room, just money. So now I have two full sized Subs, miss the money less than I like the sound and lack of hassle.

Try using your Sub on both Rooms, decide where it does the most good, or if swapping is going tom2ork for you. Worst case grab a holiday 30% discount and a second, full or mini Sub.

I'm afraid it's not a software issue, it's hardware.  Specifically the connection between the soundbar and surrounds/Sub.  In surround mode, the radios are reconfigured to a one-way dedicated 5 GHz connection which requires a series of handshakes to get correct.  This is why configuring surrounds/Subs take a bit of time.  The same is true when going the other way.  So sharing a sub between rooms, or a quick toggle from one “profile” to another, is not possible.  Which is why this option, which has been requested since the Playbar over a decade ago, is probably not coming anytime soon.
