Amazon Alexa and Sonos

When I ask Alexa to play a track, it acknowledges the request vocally but the music starts before Alexa has finished its acknowledgement. So the first fre notes are masked. Any way to pause the beginning of the music until Slexa has finished talking?

My other sonos one speakers work fine. The speakers having problems worked fine for the last year but now when I say Alexa all it says is “ I am having trouble understanding you right, now please try again later.” And on my Alexa app it shows the speakers not online. I tried deleting it and rediscovering it with no luck - it discovered them but the problem remains. I tried unplugging the speakers and reconnecting them with no luck either. My music plays fine on the speakers and so does my TV. It’s just that Alexa cannot work.

When playing Pandora radio or Amazon Music radio from Alexa sometimes it stops playing after songs and I have to give Alexa the command, "Alexa play Pandora radio in Family Room", for it to resume play. I know that this topic has been discussed before, but I was wondering if there has been a resolution to Alexa stopping music play after one or several songs.

My Beam won't turn my tv (Samsung UE55JU6800) on or off via Alexa voice command. Voice command works for other functions (volume adjust, mute etc) its just the on/off that isn't working. When I say "Alexa turn TV off" the response is I cannot find a device named TV. I've reviewed other threads and have tried: - Unplugging my other HDMI devices which my have been confusing the TV - Turned on Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC) in the TV's settings - Selected Yes for Auto Turn Off in the TV's settings - Tried selecting Soos Beam as the Source on TV and whilst I get the Sonos screensaver I still cannot turn tv off Any help would be greatly appreciated!

So I finalky think i've cracked my Sonos One and Alexa woes and hopefully no more regular full factory resets required! I have x3 Sonos Ones configured in 3 rooms and have had constant issues with Alexa randomly stopping playing spotify music etc However I think Ive sorted it finally! 1. I have one speaker permanently wired to a LAN connection point. This sets up a Sonos web with my other 2 speakers 2. I have reserved IP addresses for all of my speakers 3. I renamed one of the speakers that conflicted with a lighting group name. They used to go wrong randomly or even just if moving, turned off etc... Now, ive had 2-3 days of broadband provider issues, my router has been constantly booting up continuously... the speakers obviously lost internet and at first I even turned them off and on... however after the internet came back, the speakers automatically picked up the network again and Alexa fully working still! Hope this helps someone else going through the pain

Interestingly it does state that this is for Echo user/devices though and no mention of partner speakers such as Sonos. If this is a new Alexa Skill, will this not mean that Sonos users will by default be able to access AM via native voice commands on Sonos One's, Beam etc too? ...Or is this wishful thinking!!! Either way, it is an interesting development and hopefully this news means we will have Apple Music native voice integration on Sonos units at some point sooner rather than later!

I am a developer that is developing a device that has alexa functionality, like the echo from amazon. when I try to add the sonos skill to the alexa profile of that device, it blocks me from doing this , stating region not supported. why is the skill developed by sonos geo blocking? there is no reason for it, as it works for other skills, like the spotify connect, which works flawlesly, and has no local locale. some person from sonos team stated that this is amazon doing, but that is not true, it is how you 'sonos' set up the profile and skill in the alexa library that stops installing the skill outside US/UK/Ger/spain/japan/.. https://developer.amazon.com/docs/custom-skills/develop-skills-in-multiple-languages.html as I have many skills already added that install without a problem and work as intended outside the US/UK/Ger as they use the default en-US as fallback. can you please change that in your sonos Skill so we can start enjoying the integration and maybe even m

Is it possible to disable Alexa without pressing a physical button on the Sonos One device? I need to be able to disable and enable Alexa without physical contact with the Sonos One device.

Hi I have an Amazon Echo Dot connected to a Play 5 via the line in in my dining room, and two sonos Play one with Alexa is separate bedrooms. I have a spotify Premium family account. The issue I have is that Alexa via the Echo Dot controls spotify (and other music sources) perfectly but with either of the Play Ones I cannot get Alexa to control any music service. I can use an iphone to start spotify on the Play one but Alexa wont stop it playing. All devices are on the same wifi and are logged against the same spotify premium account. Can you help please?

Hey community, thanks for your time. We just moved and I set up my Sonos One speaker, changed the WiFi settings etc, Sonos app on my phone is updated already, and so forth. I say "Alexa, play (fill in the blank)". Then Alexa responds by saying she is playing the (fill in the blank) that I commanded, but then there is no audio (the audio volume is not turned off). On my Sonos app, I can click a song option with my finger, and music will play. But again, Alexa voices my command as if she's gonna play music, but then silence. Not sure how to troubleshoot this.

I am form Mumbai, India. I have been using Sonos with Alexa integration till yesterday, until Amazon launched Alexa services in India. To get the local skills I had my Amazon marketplace for Alexa changed from UK to India and since then my Sonos skill for Alexa vanished. I am unable to search Sonos skill on Alexa Skills page. On contacting Amazon, they replied that Sonos hasn't released the skill for India 😞. Any clue how can I enable the Sonos skill for Alexa whilst having the location India. Regards, Shanty

Please consider updating the Alexa framework to allow users to change the "wake" name, to "echo", "computer", etc.

I start music on my Beam and Play:1 group using Alexa ("Alexa, play Laid Back Classics Station"). After a while I stop it again using Alexa ("Alexa Stop"). Then after several minutes it starts again of its own accord. I then either tell it to stop again using Alexa, or pause it in the Sonos App. But, after several minutes it starts again. It does this repeatedly with about a 5-10 minute gap between me stopping/pausing and it restarting. There is nothing pressing on the controls on the Beam or Play:1's and no noise that it could be misconstruing...and anyway I have said "stop" not Pause when stopping it. I cannot be sure, but I think this has only started happening since I upgraded to the latest software update (I am now on 10.0), but it has occurred on a few days now. The only way I can then stop it is by switching to TV input (by saying "Alexa turn on the TV")... I have submitted a diagnostic immediately after it last occurred (that was the 4th resume after stopping it!). My co

Since updating to the latest release the playing the alarm (which is configured in the Sonos App) cannot be stopped anymore by saying the voice command "Alex, Stopp". This was working before, now you have to press the button of the Sonos One.

Hey guys have just came back to a full Sonos experience (playbar and 2 x play one speakers) after a flirtation with HomePods. I have previously linked Spotify with my speakers and thought it would be a case of logging back and in and I’d be good to go. However when I ask Alexa to play something on Spotify I get a response confirming that this will happen e.g ask - Alexa play some jazz on Spotify, Alexa response - jazz coming up from Spotify. Then nothing, I can play direct from the Spotify app and Sonos app. I’ve unlinked and linked again, made Spotify the main music app to no avail. Any help would be awesome. Thanks

Can anyone else with Apple Music and Sonos confirm if the following happens to you when using AirPlay 2? When I am playing music from Apple Music on my iPhone to my Sonos One’s over AirPlay 2, I have an issue when selecting Play Next on another track. The audio cuts out on the current track, although it still shows as playing. I have to click Pause then Play on the current track to hear the audio again. This happens whenever I change the track that is queued up to play next. However, it doesn’t happen if I select Play Later to add it to the end of the queue. I am using an iPhone X on the latest software. Cheers.

I’ve had a Beam since Dec with no problem. However since the middle of this week Alexa won’t turn tv on or off . It replies TV isn’t responding please check it’s network or power supply. All other functions work fine ie volume etc And Alexa responds to questions as normal. I’ve messaged Sonos and rung them. I’ve rung Panasonic as well. I have a Panasonic TX 40EX600B. Sonos told me to check with them where my Auto power on function was but Panasonic tell me that there is not one on my Tv. Vierra settings are on and correct according to Sonos and Panasonic. I’m at my wits end.. can anyone please help. . Sonos were not very helpful when I rang them yesterday.

I have Sonos speakers and Echo dots in two houses. I activated the Sonos skill in the first house and all is good for using Alexa to control the Sonos speakers in the first house When I go to the second house and search for devices, the Echo dot does not find the Sonos. Is it not possible without using a second Amazon account?

I've had my Sonos speakers for many years, and I was also in the beta test for when Amazon Alexa was being tested. I understand that the Alexa Play Multi room feature was removed due to issues that needed more work, however I've always been able to get around that, as stated 9 months ago in the community discussion, by having my Android app previously select all rooms. Then when I say, Alexa, play blah in bedroom, it would play it on all my speakers. I've noticed over the past few weeks now that Alexa ignores my Sonos app speaker group setting and only plays in the specific room I tell it. Anyone else having this issue?

Current setup: Harmony Elite remote (and associated Hub), Sonos Connect, Yamaha RX-A760 A/V receiver amplifying (playing to) non-Sonos speakers & subwoofer, Amazon Echo, & other devices not related to this issue (ie. LG OLED65B6P TV, Samsung Blu-ray player, Apple TV 4K, Wink Hub 2, Philips Hue Hub 2, Orbi router, Rasberri Pi, Google Chromecast). On the Harmony Elite I have an activity named “Sonos”. I have another activity named “DirecTv Now”, and another named “Blu-ray”, etc. etc. I have the Harmony skill as well as the Sonos skill enabled in the Echo app. When I say “Alexa, turn on DirecTv Now”, Echo (Alexa) triggers the Harmony Elite and starts the “DirecTV Now” activity (LG TV: power on, LG TV: input HDMI 1, Yamaha A/V receiver: Power On, Yamaha A/V receiver: input HDMI 1 (Apple TV). The system is now ready to use the “DirecTv Now” activity on the Harmony remote (DirecTv Now app is provided from the Apple TV). If I then say “Alexa, volume up” the Harmony remote is again triggered

Apologies if this has been asked elsewhere. Although Alexa recognises the command 'Shuffle PLAYLIST playlist in ROOMNAME' it doesn't actually shuffle the playlist; it just plays in sequential order. I'm not sure of the benefit of being able to ask Alexa to play Spotify playlists if you just keep hearing the same song every time and have to use your phone to turn shuffle on anyway. Does this work for anyone else ?

Weird scenario on my Beam - I have a 'night' routine set up on Alexa. When I request it on my Beam the response is that the device does not support that function, and then it duly executes the routine (turning off all lights in the house) - strange. I get the feeling this is a bug. Am I correct or is there something else going on that I should know about?

I'm using Spotify with Alexa on my pair of Sonos Ones. It used to be that when I asked Alexa to play a song, she'd play the song I requested and then stop. But now (as of a few months ago), after playing the song I requested, she goes on to play other random stuff. I don't really like this. Is there a way to get the old behavior back?

I’ve a beam grouped in sonos app with 2 ones for surround. In Alexa app, the beam group is displayed as a speaker named as my sonos room name (salotto) and, if I click on it, I can see the beam device name as another hierarchically related device (marco’s Sonos Beam). When I try to add ‘salotto’ to an Alexa group (as an Alexa enabled device) and I click on ‘save’ button, the button is grayed out but nothing happens and the beam is not added to the group. What can I do?

My wife tried to play the Man from Uncle Soundtrack via Echo integration with Sonos. It appears to have kicked off correctly since when I go into the Sonos app it pops up the the message that is attached. Any thoughts?
