Amazon Alexa and Sonos

Trying very hard to connect sonos 1 to alexa . It used to work . Then stopped . Alexa worked but would not plsy sonos 1 speaker . HAve reset speaker . deleted / restored app both sonos and alexa .  (all speakers work on the sonos app) . Now alexa wont work at all . Alexa app says it is enabled . Sonos shpows speaker . In Sonos services i cannot find voice / alexa option . 6 hours on this . HATE IT .  

I’ve had my Sonos system for about eight months and almost exclusively use Alexa and Apple Music (which is my default Alexa music service). It was rock-solid up until the last couple weeks.It used to be that I’d initiate the music via Alexa and the music would start about a microsecond after Alexa read back my specified playlist, album, or song. Now it takes more like 5–10 seconds for the music to start, though sometimes it doesn’t. When it does start, I get drop-outs on some speakers, and sometimes the music just stops. This morning it gets a couple tracks into one of Apple Music’s “Essentials” playlists and then just stops. The Sonos app says there is no music selected. The same music through Apple Music works solidly if I initiate it through the Sonos app. But I much prefer playing music via voice. I’m using an Arc linked to two Ones, in a surround configuration that includes a Sub in my living room; two Ones with a Sub in my front office; a standalone One in a bedroom; and a Beam i

I’m new to Sonos and I installed my first device, a Sonos Move, about 10 days ago.Everything was working fine until this morning when Alexa wouldn’t respond while I was playing an m3u playlist from my Music Library. Through trial and error I determined that she does respond if I pause playback but not while the playlist is playing. I also verified that Alexa responds normally when I’m playing a playlist from Amazon Music.I tried powering it off and on to no avail.Anyone have any ideas?

When searching for devices some of my speakers do not appear on the Alex App? 

It should be made clear that the Sonos Alexa interface is very limited. The sonos speaker will not control any Alexa smart devices or skills. After months of trying to get 3 Alexa enabled Sonos to work i now have an email from Amazon to confirm that smart devices cannot be controlled using the 3rd party speakers. :-(

I use Alexa Amazon as a voice assistant. When I went in Alexa’s settings, I put my Google calendar in the section “Calendar and emails” and after that, I tried to put on the function to receive the sounds notifications of the calendar and then Alexa gave the message that no device was available despite the fact that my Sonos speaker was on and linked with Alexa. I called Amazon’s technicians and they said that this function is available only with their devices, Alexa’s Echo. Do you know if it would be possible to use that function, receive sounds notification from the calendar with another calendar that would come maybe from Alexa’s skills ? Has anyone experienced Sonos (Play 3) not responding to Echo Dot? Alexa seems to recognize speaker but speaker does not play. Any suggestions of how to fix this problem? Thanks!

Alexa on my Beam will turn my Sony TV KD-43XH8196 on / off, adjust volume etc but won't select the Prime Video app to play a show from. I've disabled / re-enabled skills in Alexa app, cleared Alexa off Sonus etc to no avail.Any ssuggestions  would be great

Hi, My Amazon echo and my Bose Speaker 300 are able to alert me when I have an Alexa notification by displaying a yellow light. I get notifications when Amazon delivers a package and it is really useful as I know I have something at my door. Does the Sonos One (gen 2) have the ability to do something similar? Maybe with one of the lights on top?

I have been using Alexa on our Sono One for months with no real issue but in the past couple of weeks the timers have become unreliable. It's not a consistent problem but it seems that most attempts to set a timer are now failing. There are three scenarios: say "Alexa, set timer for 10 minutes" > no audible response from Alexa to confirm that it has been set but if then asked "Alexa, how much time left on the timer?", Alexa confirms that timer is set. Timer goes off as expected. say "Alexa, set timer for 10 minutes" > no audible response from Alexa to confirm that it has been set but if then asked "Alexa, how much time left on the time", confirms that timer is set. I tried turning off and on again but there is no change to the behaviour. This is one of the most used and useful features for Sonos/

Bought a Sonos Move. Opened and installed and everything worked correctly at parent's house using either Alexa or Google with Spotify. Couple days later brought it home, installed and voice commands are not returning a result except maybe local ones like "what time is it?" If I say "Alexa / Ok Google Play Justin Bieber" it replies "Ok playing Justin Bieber on Spotify" and nothing happens. I switched default player to Amazon Music and I still get the same result. I have reset the Sonos app, factory rebooted and reinstalled the speaker. Removed the device from both GH and Alexa. And nothing. I feel like setting it up previously somewhere else may have caused some conflict but can't be sure especially since I reset and reboot. Please help! 

Is the amazon Alexa Sidewalk feature going to affect Sonos devices?

Hi all, I currently have a Playbar setup on my main floor with surround they does not include microphones or alexa. I am planning a surround Arc setup in my basement that will support alexa. Once that is set up, will it be possible for the following?Ask Alexa to “play music on main floor” and have the alexa from the basement Arc send the command to the Playbar system? if yes, will I be able to use an Alexa device on my main floor, an echo dot, to command the Arc to command the Playbar to play music?or is that too far fetched?!

Hi all,  Having a bit of mare - and don’t really know where to start with explaining - but I’ll try! TL;DR:I want individual voice control of each room speaker & ‘play everywhere’, but, at the moment that’s not working. Setup:Sonos 1 and ZP90 in living roomPlay: 1 in bedroomPlay: 1 in kitchenOn S1 OS because of the connect What I want:Individual Alexa control of what plays in each room (from the only alexa device, the Sonos 1 in the living room) Play ‘everywhere’ if I want to combine it all into one, big, loud sonos-festWhat I’m getting:Individual control of what plays in each room UNTIL the moment I instruct it to play everywhere. That works beautifully, but then returning to individual control of rooms stops. It plays on an individual speaker, but the wrong one. For example… play ‘xyz’ on living room will prompt the response ‘playing xyz on living room’, but it’ll appear in the bedroom.It’s taken a good few hours of my life so far! I thought it was an echo messing things up, but

My old reminders work perfectly speaking to me. All the new ones I make appear correctly in the Alexa app but just "bing" instead of talking. I suspect this is since I updated the Sonos version . I'm  loathe to reset up the device in case the working ones won't after I try and re jnstall. Any ideas.Cheers

Hello all, I tried to find my answer in other posts but none seemed recent enough to answer my questions fully. I am redesigning my room right now which currently has 2 Sonos Ones. I am adding a TV and an Amazon Fire TV Stick. I’m wondering if I will be able to put the audio from my Fire TV Stick through my Sonos One. Also, and much less importantly, would I be able to control my Fire TV using voice commands through my Sonos?  Any help is much appreciated! Happy New Year!

When I obtained my Alexa-Enabled SONOS Move speaker in 2019 I set up a routine for Alexa to say a greeting, give the weather, and play NPR News.   It initially worked great. Then, after an upgrade by SONOS or Amazon, it played the “Audio actions in routines are currently not supported on this device” message, but then went ahead and performed the routine. Now following further upgrades the Move speaker only plays the “not supported” message and no routine. The routine plays just fine on my iPhone using the Alexa app so I presume the routine is good. Because I have so much Sonos hardware in my home I am running the S1 Sonos Controller on my devices. Does anybody have any suggestions or solutions to this little problem? Thanks much for any input!

Hi. I’ve set up my Sonos beam and 2 x Sonos ones in my lounge and connected up as surround sound to my TV. I’ve synced Spotify and everything was working great. If I asked Alexa to play Spotify the TV audio would turn off and Spotify would play. Unfortunately I’ve changed something and now Alexa won’t play Spotify. I have to go into Spotify and select the room I want it to play. Any suggestions? oh and happy new year!!!!! 

Has anyone else been able to resolve the issue with Alexa acknowledging a song request and saying “playing” on Spotify, but then just not playing.Also recent issues with Spotify just not working or dropping out (direct instructions from App, not Alexa).   Attempts to resolve by disabling and enabling Alexa and Spotify not sorted issues. Any thoughts appreciated!

Hi there, after the new year Alexa stopped working. I followed the steps on the support page but Alexa is still not responding. Someone has another suggestion? I also rebooted the Sonos and my router.  Tom

I changed router and had to set Sonos speaker up again.After set-up I said Alexa play 98.1 the bull.She said playing 97.1 the bull but no music??

How do I set up Alexa on a Sonos in hk. Alexa isn’t on the Hong Kong App Store and it’s not an option in the Sonos app - the app only offers music options not voice.  Thanks 

Hi SonosI would like to ask you if you could add option to all speakers which have Alexa and google assistant included independent volume option for us.Well for example Beam when I watching TV and want to turn lights of the response from Alexa is too quiet and when I will try to move the volume up on the buttons on beam it will adjust total volume on my TV as well what is not what I really want. The same on Sonos One and I believe on all voice assistant speakers.We really need in app an option to adjust Voice assistant what will not have an impact on TV volume or music volume at all. There should be setting for general volume too like it is now but independent for BOTH voice assistants please.Is there any chance you can add this feature in app please as it is really terrible experience to have it like it is now to be honest.Thank you for reply.All the best.Juraj 

I have 15 Sonos speakers including two Beams. I initially got the Beams due to Alexa integration. However, I have now given up. I have deactivated the voice assistants on my Sonos/Alexa devices (Beams and Sonos Ones), and have installed Echo Dots next to the speakers.I have have two major issues. First, Alexa’s voice volume renders Alexa useless for interaction because she speaks too softly to hear.  There have been numerous threads about this over the past few years, yet the issue remains. A recent post here indicates that your engineers were unaware. LOL. They must be new hires since it has been an issue since day one.Second, so many Alexa capabilities are not enabled, such as communications.So my recommendation to those who like Sonos and use Alexa is to use separate devices, because Alexa / Sonos integration really is poor.

I have followed all the set up, enabled and disabled etc but nothing! I done have a microphone light so don’t know if it is on. When I add Alexa it talks about an Echo but the Sl does not need one. I am on day three now and losing the love. Please help an idiot.
