Amazon Alexa and Sonos

Could someone try something for me? There is a radio station we listen to called Kool Oldies 104.3. If I ask an Alexa device to play the station the music plays immediately. If I ask a Sonos One speaker to play the station it responds stating that the station isn’t available right now. Do you get the same thing or is it just me? I deal with this issue quite often and I have no idea why it happens. Latest updates have been installed and just went through the entire reset process just 2 days ago. Thanks.

I purchased my brother a couple of Sonos One speakers the past 2 Christmas’. He has multiple Alexa devices. I setup everything for him with the Alexa being able to control music on the Sonos speakers. He is completely ignorant to technology so I have to check the systems when I go to his house. Yesterday I went there and his Garage Sonos One speaker was showing offline in the Alexa app but yet he had no issue asking Alexa to play music on the Sonos speaker itself.Now this is where my frustration comes in. This has happened multiple times and I have to go through either disabling the Alexa Sonos skill or removing the devices completely and doing a rediscover. It’s not that time consuming but it makes the system completely unreliable when I’m not there to fix it.  Nothing changes in his house but yet we have to go through this more than we should.Now I’m begging the Sonos support to please not respond with a canned response that ignores everything that I just wrote or doesn’t even apply

I bought a Roam for my bathroom so that I could still hear my music in the shower. So I hooked up the Roam to my existing Sonos system but now all of my Alexa responses, no matter where I call her name, are coming though the Roam. How do I prevent that from happening without disabling the mic? I thought about giving it a different wake word but there was no option to do that that I could find.

Good morning every one, I tried asking to the Sonos costumare care this information and they recommend me to post in the forum. Here I am! I’ll try to explain my doubt:I have a problem with my voice assistant’s volume. If I’m listening to the music and ask Alexa something , I cannot hear the answer because the volume is too low or the music exceeds it.Is it possible to increase the volume of the voice assistant? I have a Sonos move and enables the Alexa voice assistant. I have set up Apple Music in bit the Alexa and Sonos app. When I ask the speak to play a specific song on apple it says it can't find it?! But I can play stations just for me!? Help please 

Why is Sonos One voice recognition deteriorating?We have a Sonos One in the kitchen and Echo Flex linked to Playbar in the lounge.Sonos One recognises the Alexa prompt. But then doesn’t respond to commands.On the latest occasion, with no noise in the kitchen, no response from Sonos One but the Flex in the lounge picked up the alarm request.  When I asked Sonos One though, it confirmed alarm set on Flex - although I didn't know that at first. There was only one alarm set although I had repeated the request.Voice recognition seems to have deteriorated recently. I could understand if the kitchen was really noisy with background noise.  But it wasn’t. I was fairly close to the speaker and nothing.When we don’t want Alexa to respond, voice recognition works!  Any ideas?  We already recently reset Sonos One several times following advice with some Alexa/app issues.  And have set up voice control again. At first, there was a noticeable improvement in voice control.  But now it's really poor.

I have a group setup for our media room. When I enable Trueplay the speakers in the group no longer respond when I call for Alexa.Sup with that?

Hello,I wonder if you could tell me when will Sonos begin working with Alexa in Chile.I red a lot of comments related to Amazon servers capability, but I disagree. If the problem were Amazon servers, how could be possible for Amazon Dot or Amazon Echo Dot to work in Chile so well?I feel that Sonos is not interested in making an effort to solve this because we are a small market. What a shame!

Our house is filled with Sonos. We have a Sonos Play One in every room and our living room has a Sonos Playbar with two Sonos Play Ones for surround sound. We have echo dots in each room and have Alexa configured to use the Sonos speaker (in each room) as default. It has been working perfectly for years.Fast forward to now; Alexa no longer plays music through any of our Sonos speakers. Hi,I have a collection of tracks stored locally. I’m trying to play them on my One (S2) using Alexa, and I’ve installed various media servers and associated skills (Plex, My Media, our jukebox...).  Every time I ask Alexa to play a track using the appropriate syntax, I get a voiced error “Playing music on provider XXX is not supported”, with XXX being Plex, etc.Has anybody else run this issue?Thanks,-marc

HelloI have playbar linked to Echo Flex.  Recently I asked Alexa to set volume to 2 and it went really quiet (read inaudible).  I realised that volume settings were working as 1 to 100 :)2 would do 2% and 22 would be about a quarter of full volume as expected.But now it seems to be back to the 1 to 10 big steps in volume.  I see there are old threads about this (from 2 to 3 years ago).  But I’m hoping something changed.  Alexa was definitely working fine a few days or so ago.I did try disabling and re-enabling the Sonos skill for what it’s worth (it was recommended to fix a similar issue on another thread) but this hasn't worked.Is 1 to 100 volume setting possible - I know it was before! Thank you

Hi I have moved house and cannot seem to change the location of my devices. I have tried to be self service so have changed it in Amazon and the Alexa ap. Then tried to change it at the device level too but cannot see where to do that. I have removed and then readded Alexa to my speakers to try reset and nothing has worked.  surely this is a common problem with an easy solution and im just missing.  thanks I’m advance for your help 

Hi all, I used to be able to go into the Alexa app and select either Arc or One and the app would take me to a settings page to change things like “enable announcements” etc but now tapping on any Sonos Alexa enabled product, it does nothing!When I first setup my new Arc a few months ago I had full functionality and amended several settings that were Alexa related, so I know it used to work.Any advice or help greatly appreciated.Oh and by the way I have disabled and enabled the “skill” sh*tloads of times! Still no good.

I have two Symfonisk Bookshelf speakers as a stereo pair in my bedroom. I had an Echo Dot in my bedroom with the Symfonisks (“Bedroom”) as the preferred speaker for the Dot selected in the Alexa app along with a Firestick. With this set up everything was working fine. I could say “Alexa, play music” and it would play music through the Symfonisks. I could similarly adjust the volume and stop the music without suffixing the command with “in the Bedroom”I’ve added an additional Echo Dot and paired it with the original one as a home cinema for the Firestick. The Bedroom Symfonisk pair are still the preferred speaker. Now, I can still ask it to play music without suffixing it with “in the bedroom” but I can only get Alexa to control the volume or stop the music by adding the “in the bedroom suffix” to the command.Any ideas how I can resolve this?I’ve tried disabling and re-enabling the Sonos skill with no luck.Cheers!

Bought our daughter a Sonos Roam for her birthday. We are however a S1 household with many speakers, Alexa integration and smart home IoT devices.Given the fact I do not intend to update to S2 anytime in the near future, how would I best setup her Roam? Should I create a net-new Sonos account for her and install S2 on her mobile device? What about Alexa integration and the fact that is tied to my login and account? I really do not wish to install the Roam under my account at this time unless someone can convince me otherwise as I’ve heard rumblings of potential issues running S1+S2 under the same account. Just looking for best practice here without sacrificing functionality for both my daughter, or the rest of the household. TIA

First off, I have tried to find the answer by searching this forum, so if I missed it, I apologize in advance.  I have a Sonos Move with Alexa and several music services.  When I use it on my home network, everything works as expected.  When I take this on the road and connect it to a WiFi hotspot (5G) i cannot launch music using Alexa.  A few points:  The hotspot has the same SSID as my home network so it just connects automatically. Alexa works “in general” , I can ask it questions and get responses. I can play music through the Sonos App.   I cannot start music by asking Alexa.  I cannot launch music through the Alexa app. The hotspot appears to provide good speed (3.86 Mbps according to speed test)Id prefer not to use Bluetooth as I get phone calls and don’t want to disrupt the music. I’d also prefer not to use the Sonos app as my wife finds it complicated.Am I doing something wrong?  Am I confusing it by using the same SSID?

I have just bought a Sonos Roam! I have installed Alexa Assistant, first time work correct, then I took  the device to connect  in other Wi-Fi to use Alexa, but didn’t work! I came Back and did not work anymore. I can ask about wheather she aswers, but when i ask to Play a music , she says the name but did play nothing stay quiet.

I have surround sound with my Sonos Beam, and a recent LG OLED that is Alexa capable. On the previous TV, I used Alexa with the Beam, and it did everything it was capable of, which isn’t much on the tv apart from volume and power. The new tv can be controlled with Alexa, do I now disable Alexa for the beam, and only use the TV for Alexa? I’ve added the basic and Complete Alexa skills, but alot of commands for the Tv, Alexa says it cannot do. It will do previous tasks, volume, power, and I have sporadically got it to pause, but it won't change inputs, or open certain apps. Thanks for reading. 

Hey all, Have had an Arc since they released last year using the supplied hdmi cable etc, was running on my older Hisense N7 series was capable of turning the TV on and off using Alexa, however with my new 2021 Hisense U7G, I'm getting dumb problems everywhere.I wiped Alexa from the Arc and deleted everything from the Alexa app, including removing anything from the desktop app at Alexa.amazon.com. I've just run-through the process of setting up Alexa via the Sonos app, then had to download/enable the Sonos skill in the Alexa app. At the moment when asking to turn the TV off, she says "hmm, I can't seem to reach the lounge room TV. Try re enabling the Sonos skill from the app" etc etc. Anyone have any advice? Hisense Australia were quick to palm off the problem and say it's not their fault at all, even though it was working perfectly fine prior. Edit: I've successfully got Alexa to turn the TV on (!) but she just won't turn the TV off! Up until about a week ago I’d speak 'Alexa, turn the volume up', Alexa would immediately duck, chime, respond "OK" and after only one-more-ducked-second Spotify would resume at a higher volume.Now.. after responding "OK" Alexa will remain ducked for another 7 seconds before resuming at higher volume.It’s really annoying. A total vibe killer. It’s happening on 2/3 of my setups: on my Roam, and a set of paired ones. Another pair of ones that are rears to a playbase seem to be working fine. Things I've tried: Follow up mode is turned off Wifi signal is strong (and set to channel 11) I’ve unlinked Spotify & Alexa (multiple times) I’ve Hard Reset the Ones any tips? thank you!

I've had the Sonos One Gen 2 for a just a little bit more than a month now and I have this issue where I can't stop the follow up conversation mode after enabling it on the Alexa, It's currently turned off and yet Alexa keeps listening and making this loud annoying *bip* sound after a command and keeps listening.Iv'e tried reconnecting the skill, power cycling the speaker, and reconnecting the Assistant but nothing seems to have any effect.I have Alexa in brief mode and as I understood is that she's supposed to make a little sound, and she does but in addition to that she also makes the loud one of the follow up mode.*UPDATE*Ok now that's weird, just checked on the site, after checking many times already for the last few days, and suddenly it was turned on, switched it off and it worked! I guess one of the troubleshooting methods above did work after all and it was some king of synchronization bug.

I have a couple of Sonos devices with Alexa built-in for the Living Room, however because not all features are supported yet (drop-in, guard, communications) I also have an Echo Dot in the room too which also seems to be more reliable in terms of understanding my voice. When I ask Alexa something whilst listening to music the volume drops (ducks) on my Sonos devices so that the Echo Dot can hear me - however when the input is TV the volume doesn't duck and it can sometimes be difficult for the Echo Dot to hear me over the TV.If I have the mics turned on with the Alexa-enabled Sonos device the volume does duck, however, due to the reasons above I’d prefer to use my Echo Dot. Is there any chance Sonos can adjust the behaviour with ducking please (or at least give users the option) to support users like me?
