Amazon Alexa and Sonos

Just doesn't seem to work. Alexa says "flash briefing" (which is an idiotic name) is starting and then nothing happens...I've checked all the proper boxes the Alexa App...even checked and unchecked different news sources...nothing. Silence. Anyone have any thoughts?

LOVE the progress made with Alexa and Spotify.... name a song and a room and it plays! It came at the cost of losing access to my Alexa Skills “ The language you selected does not match your Amazon account settings. As a result, Alexa skills are not available. To get the best Alexa experience, please choose English (Canada) by selecting continue“. A blue bar that says CONTINUE is below the above statement. When I click on continue, it just takes me to a list of my devices which include fire sticks and my Sonos components. Amazon support claims its a Sonos issue, I disagree.

Can we envision to control Philips Hue lights with Sonos one in the near future?

I currently have two Play 1's and Playbar and Sub. If I were to purchase an echo dot to go along with my system. Would all audio play through my Sonos system or only music? From what I have been reading it sounds like only music services will play through the Sonos. If I were to ask Alexa something like, "What is the weather going to be like today?" Would the response play over my Sonos speakers or the Echo Dot speaker?

Hi everyone, I've bought a sonos one 2 months ago and set it up with Alexa. Everything was working fine till a week ago. I bought 2 play 5 and adding them to the sonos skill. For that I had to reinstall my wifi. So I basically deleted everything out of Sonos and did a hard reset on the one as well and then added each speaker to the new wifi. Set it back up with Alexa. Long story short: the one is located in the bedroom. Play 5's in family room. Asking Alexa to play in family room works like a charm. However asking Alexa on the Sonos to do something seems impossible. If I look into the Alexa app I see Bedroom in skills, in settings I see bedroom (and below it says online) and then bedroom sonos. Before I only had 1 (which was bedroom with online below) and that worked. If I say play in bedroom, mmm to do that enable skill. When I say play music in bedroom sonos it does it. Changing the name to bedroom or anything else will cause Alexa on Sonos to say I'm having trouble co

I have purchased the new Play 1 with built in Alex. I can stream music from the radio, but it will not allow me to access selected music from Amazon Prime /Music. Is there an issue or do I need to use another on line music provider?

Hello all, I have fully bought into the Alexa controlled smart home... I have two WeMo smart plugs, four Echo devices, five Hue lights, and six Sonos speakers. I was very excited to upgrade the Echo in my kitchen, my most used one, with a new Sonos One. However, I had trouble getting Alexa on the Sonos One to respond to my commands, and the Echo in the nearby living room would almost always answer. After reading about connectivity issues, I spent significant time reloading apps, rediscovering devices, relinking services, and restarting my extensive home network (I'm a software engineer in the networking industry), all to no avail. Sonos One Alexa would still not respond to me. However, I did discover a solution that was quite basic... and frustrating.... I have to pause speaking after saying "Alexa" and wait for the Sonos wake up tone before continuing with my command. With the release of the Sonos One, will the Play 1 drop significantly in price? The One is essentially the Play 1 with the Echo built-in.

Hey everyone, Firstly, I have scoured threads relating to Alexa and Sonos, but haven’t seen anybody ask or answer this question. I currently own one Play:1 and have been waiting for the announcement and details of the Alexa skill before expanding my Sonos range throughout my home. With the recent details of the new Amazon Echo, I was thinking this could be a good option for smaller rooms, rather than another Play:1. So, let’s say I buy two Sonos One when they release - I create a stereo pair in my living room with these, then I have a Play:1 in my dining room with an Echo Dot, then I put a new Echo in my bedroom - if I were playing music on my living room Sonos pair, could I then also play this in my bedroom at the same time on the stand-alone Echo? I’m not sure this would work because of the cross platform and also how grouping works in Sonos (I don’t own any Echo products, which may be why I’m asking this question), so thought I would ask those who have both! I have a new SONOS One. Added Skill to Alexa. Added Bathroom Play 1, Bedroom Play 1 stereo pair & Living Room Playbar+Sub as devices. Created group of all in Alexa named Everywhere but Alexa "Can't find Everywhere". What am I missing? Thanks, Kyle

I have two Play-1's set up in different rooms as separate speakers (not left/right paired) and want Alexa to play the same channel on both speakers at the same time. I know Alexa has Multi-Room music but from what I can tell it only allows Alexa devices and doesn't allow Play-1's to be included. I can get a music channel to play on both Play-1's but the music isn't sync'd.

I'm excited to hear that Sonos is finally voice integrated with Alexa. HOwever, I've had no luck getting it to play over my Sonos speakers. My accounts are connected, apps updated, etc. Spotify will play over the dot and echo, but when I ask it to play in a particular room I receive an error message. I can play Tunein stations, Amazon music, etc. But nothing from Spotify. I've set Spotify to be my default player in Alexa app, but still no luck. Anyone else having this issue? Ideas on how to make this integration finally work?

I registed my Sonos one to an Amazon account. Now I'd like to move it to a different account. I have removed it from the Amazon accoynt but cant seem to link it to the new account. Tech support provided me with instructions to switch the music service but I want to move it entirely.

Hello, I couldn't find anything on this. Does the Sonos One work with the ADT Alexa skill to turn my alarm on and off? I know the Sonos One has limited Alexa skills out of the gate, so wasn't sure about this one. Thanks.

Day 1 of owning my first Sonos One. I notice it cannot play back my audible book and cannot read my kindle. It recognises the libraries for both but then nothing happens. It also has split functions between two profiles for one device - "bedroom" and "my name Sonos" - for example on the Alexa app notifications and timers can be made for one and alarms for the other - but not all three for one profile.

Hi. Playing radio from tunein via voice control is great. Also skipping tracks and changing volume is great. I’m not an online service streaming customer and never will be. I like my music local and I like to own it. When will I be able to tell Alexa to play from. My local library?? Perhaps it’s not someth8ng amazon want to let us do, but my sonos system expansion has been paused for a couple of years now due this missing feature. If a competitor launches the ability then I’ll have to swap, although ideally I’d like to remain a loyal sonos fan. It’s a definite sticking point for me though.

I just got my Sonos One today and am trying to get Alexa up and running. It is working with all of my home automation, Wink, Nest etc, but I can get Alexa to play anything on Spotify, which is my only music subscription service. She keeps saying “cannot play from Spotify music on that Device”. I have linked all of my accounts, and they show up as linked. I also do have a premium account on Spotify. Anyone have any thoughts? She does offer to set me up an Amazon music account when I just ask for a specific song or artist, then plays me a sample of the song.

Hello. I saw the announcement of the Sonos One and the Alexa integration. If I get the Sonos One, will I need to buy an additional Alexa device?

I have an Echo Dot connected to a small USB speaker. When the music is playing full volume (not really that loud) I have to shout to get Alexa to hear me. I am considering getting a Sonos One because I like LOUD music. Question is, will Alexa be able to hear me over the music?? Echo has a remote voice control which means you can talk really quietly into the remote and Alexa will hear you. I understand this control will not work with Sonos though. How have Sonos One owners coped with this? Is it a problem? Many Thanks

Please can someone help... I have set up my new SonosAlexa Voice... Everything is connected to Amazon Prime Music etc but when I ask Alexa to play a song for example Coldplay it only plays one song... even if it chooses its own play list ... Alexa seems to like Taylor Swift!! Again only plays one song :?:? Can anyone help

Is there a way to tell the Sonos One Alexa to stop playing music and go back to the TV sound? I just purchased 2 Play Ones and loving them so far! I have been able to tell Alexa to stop playing the music, but do I always have to go back to the Sonos app to get sound through my TV again? I have the Playbar, Sub, and 2 Ones.

I can't figure out what determines which Spotify account is used when telling the Sonos One to play music on Spotify? Is it what was last used in the Sonos App? For that controller or something else? Or is it what the default service is set as in Alexa?

So... Apart from not being able to get flash briefings, set an alarm or a timer, unable to change the wake word from "Alexa" and having to say "Alexa" five times for it to respond (I think she is sleepy), and apart from the fact it thinks I am in Seattle when I ask what the weather is like.... I kinda like it so far... Give the programmers some overtime... And fire the person who decided that putting the activity LED on the top of the device was a good idea. :o) *** Alarms not working as Date and Time not set in Alexa App.. All OK now***

Our existing Play1, Play5, and Bridge happily play our music library from an NAS drive attached to our airport wifi box and router. Spotify and TuneIn work too. Now we've added a One with Alexa for the kitchen to use voice control to switch between our three "sources" of music, but cannot figure out how to add the NAS as an input. We've been through the setup, updated all versions of the Sonos App updated the Sonos software, installed the Alexa app and been through the setup steps. Is this just not possible? Each version of the sonos app (mac, iOS) stores the path/credential info for our NAS. I'm no engineer, but couldn't that be stored in my Sonos account (which the One/Alexa is already linked to) so the One/Alexa could look it up and play our music library from it? Thanks!

I've got 6 echos.. with any of them I can't enable the skill.. Well, I say that.. I've clicked enable, logged into Sonos and logged into Amazon and authorised, and bam.. Nothing.. just the alexa app opens at homepage. I then go into devices or skills... No sonos devices, no sonos skill! I've clicked voice services in sonos app and I end up in this constant LOOP of enabling it's ridiculous!! I've run discovery by voice and app, nothing. All firmware bang up to date as of even today's update. Could someone please save my sanity to just play some fekkin music through alexa!
