I can’t thank folks enough for the advice on these boards.   I’ve learned a ton, enjoyed myself, and your advice brought me from a very spotty system to a matrix that’s all green with 50+ strength vertices.  (S1, 14 components of mixed vintage on 3 floors, SonosNet off an Eero used as a router).BUT I was still getting drops when streaming from my turntable to a Connect to 3 nearby rooms. All rooms would drop out for a second or two then come back.It was solvable for 1-2 rooms with line in compression plus a 2 sec input delay and airplay as source type, but 3 rooms would still drop out.Sonos tech said there was a lot of interference in my space and I’m sure he’s right.I needed another Line In anyway so got a Port (just as a line in, so I was agnostic on the digital out kerfluffle).I was hoping the Port’s stronger WiFi radio mentioned by ratty might help and thought the add’l processing power for ADC might help (the old connect seemed (?) to drop more often as it heated up).Just hooked i

Hi! I’m doing a little mod/add-on to my Sonos One (don’t ask what and why, long story 😅). My question is, how do you think this construction may affect WIFI-reception? I’ve marked the places where I think the antennas are, do you think the metal wire may interfere in some way?Thankful for all input! Have an awesome Sunday! 

Can anyone recommend whether I should set up a NAS with Plex support?  I have a large collection of music and would like to stream it to my Sonos.  I currently use Youtube Music but the integration with Sonos is buggy.  For example, I was thinking of putting my collection on a Synology media server and run Plex to stream it to my Sonos nodes.Thoughts?

Hi all. I’ve been reading these threads forever, thought I’d finally post my own questions :) I’ve gained a lot of insight from all of you contributing to the forums and I’d like to thank you. This particular question of mine has to do with static IP addresses.First of, I’m very novice at this and trying to better my system as I gain some knowledge from my readings. I’ve read several times that, if you create static IPs for your Sonos devices, it’s important to configure them outside of the DHCP range. Can someone please elaborate a bit on this? I’ve posted some screenshots below of what I’ve done. I was able to select all of my Sonos products from the client list and give them static IP assignments, but I don’t think they’re outside of my DHCP? One screenshot is of my assignment list, and the other is what I think my DHCP range is - is it 100-200? So would I want to assign the suffixes, or last three digits, at something under 100 or over 200? If so, why have an assignment list in the

Will Sonos be doing an update in order to be able to ‘stereo pair’ a play 5 gen2 with a Sonos Five?

I’ve not seen this issue before.We have a setup of 4 x AMP’s with one hardwired to Router, other 3 all in the same Flexson mount connected via sonosnet inside a house.Outside the house in a garage detached we have a One SL - this is connected via a TP Link access point hardwired to the same router in the house which one of the AMP’s are connected to.Via the App in the Garage we can control the house AMP’s fine.BUT - i cannot get the One SL to add to the App - The App finds it, we connect using the join button - it says connecting for a while the indicator goes white and the App pops up a message that says install complete, but might not show up in System - unplug and re power. Doing this the One never appears.Take the One back in the house reset it and it joins network fine (i assume via Sonosnet) - take it back outside and it disappears from the app.The TP Link AP is definitely set to AP mode, DHCP is off on the AP, so unit will be getting address from House router - the tablet with t

Greetings all, I have recently moved to SonosNet via Boost which is running from my structured network panel. The Boost is hardwired but sitting close to the router and a few other hubs. Due to the cord lengths my ability to distance is limited. I have logged into my router and created static IP assignments for all of my Sonos products, so I should be good there. I have added two other boosts placed in what I think may be dead spots, but they’re showing up red too. I’m not a pro at this by any means, I’ve been reading the forums and doing what seems to make sense. My matrix throws up some red, but the only time I seem to have any drop out issues is when I try to play every device at once (“play everywhere”). Is the column left red the end of the world? Any advice on improvement? Thoughts on the health of my matrix from someone that knows what they’re talking about? Thanks in advance, looking forward to your thoughts / advice.  

Hi all. New to Sonos systems and am running into some problems. I can see a bunch of posts here about TP Link WiFi extenders, but nothing that describes the exact problem I’m having. I’m also not that familiar with the technology behind all of this, so am struggling to keep up on some of the threads!I have two Sonos One SL speakers, one in my living room and another in my office. Because the WiFi signal does not reach the office, I have used a TP Link AV1300 powerline adaptor to get signal back there.Most of the time the two speakers will play together without issue, but every now and again one speaker will stop working. I have experienced the issue with both speakers, but it seems the speaker I lose is usually the one I add to whichever is already playing music (i.e. If I begin playing from the living room speaker and then add the office speaker, the office is the one causing problems; and visa versa.)It seems the system suddenly stops recognising that there are two speakers connected

In my living room, I have a TV with Playbar and a turntable connected to a new AMP (all Sonos S2).It appears impossible to use the AMP as surround speakers for the Playbar, without losing the turntable input. Any suggestions? Currently, I can of course group the Playbar and AMP, but that’s not the same as a proper surround setup.Should I convert the turntable signal to optical and then put an optical switch in from of the Playbar? Any other ideas??

Hi, I’m trying to optimize my home WiFi networks. I have two running: one is off of the Comcast router, the second runs an Orbi mesh network (it’s a 3-story, narrow rowhome). Most of my devices run off of the Orbi network (which is connected to the cable router via an unmanaged switch). Since it’s a 3 story home, I purchased a Sonos Boost to support speakers on every floor. And of course the router is on the ground floor.Does it make sense to put the Boost onto the cable router (through the network switch), or with most other WiFi devices, into one of the Orbi devices? Can the boost work as a wireless bridge (the documentation is vague), in which case I could put it on the second floor? Finally, can most of the devices in the home (including the iOS controller and Alexa, be on a different WiFi network than Sonos?)I’m trying to figure out how best to configure this, and would really appreciate your advice! Hi, I recently installed a system for a client.  The system consists of a Unifi USG, US16SW, and 4 Unifi NanoHD APs.  The sonos system consists of 1 Sonos ARC, 1 sonos move, 4 Sonos Ones.  All sonos equipment is wireless.  Customer and I were having issues with app acting glitchy.  Sound quality is fine with no hiccups but at times it doesnt connect to the system or the app just attempts to open and then doesnt.  It has been in use for a little over a week.  Yesterday, I made adjustments on the Unifi system. Switch Setup: As many other threads discuss, Unifi switches default to RTSP which is incompatible with Sonos. You need to set the switches to STP. In the Unifi dashboard go to Devices --> Select the Switch --> Config --> Services --> Spanning Tree --> Set to STP. For the root switch (48 port switch in my case) set the Priority to 4096. For secondary switched plugged into the root switch (the POE switch in my case) set Spanning Tree to STP and Priority to 8192. Netw

I currently have a play bar and connect amp powering 2 third party in-ceiling speakers in my living room, and a play 1 connected to my router in the basement.I now have a tv in the basement that I would like to set up another play bar and connect amp powering Sonos sonance in-ceiling speakers and a subwoofer.Will anything be effected?From my understanding/experience, I need that play 1 connected to the router in order for my living room surrounds to work. 

I returned my 3x Symfonisks to IKEA but I didn’t get the chance to reset them because I wasn't sure they would accept my refund request but I’m glad they did. The speakers are still listed in my Sonos account though. Is there any way to remove them?

I have 2 active speakers (so the amp is build in the speaker) connected to the line out of the Sonos Connect. This works great. Now I want to add the Sonos Sub 3 to this. Is that possible? If not, is an upgrade to the Sonos Port a solution?

So I’ve upgraded to the S2 app and have a Beam, Sub gen 2, 2 x sonos one surround setup.  I use my iPhone 11 to stream music via AirPlay from Qobuz, which as I understand has a compatible high res format with Sonos (FLAC).   In this article - https://support.sonos.com/s/article/79?language=en_US, it states ‘Sonos supports the following audio formats when streaming from your local music library, Android device, or Internet radio stations’. And it supports ‘24-bit (44.1kHz/48kHz, FLAC/ALAC)’. So my questions are: Is streaming from Qobuz via AirPlay considered my local music library? If I’m playing a 24-bit high res track at 96 kHz, how is the quality of the playback affected, assuming anything above 48 kHz is lost?

Hello,  I’ve setup a VPN to connect my mobile device safely to my home network.  It’s a set-it-and-forget-it thing.  On my mobile device my VPN stays on 24/24 7/7. I can reach my NAS,  and literally do all the things I do at home when I am at home (!) and when I am away.  Since dataconnection through 4G or 5G is mostly unlimited (Belgium) there’s no issue on that topic.  Since I have perfect 4G coverage at home, I don’t need wifi on my mobile device either.   And certainly…  I don’t need tweaking around my phone when I leave home, starting my car, starting to navigate, or whatever thing I am planning to do.     The only thing that doesn’t comply… my Sonos system.  I’ve seen a lot of coverage on this forum and Reddit about Sonos and VPN.  Mostly posters point in the wrong direction of it being “not Sonos’ fault”, or as in “bittorrents are illegal, so you shouldn’t use a VPN”.  Answers totally missing the point about what a VPN in 99% of the cases is and what is used for daily.  I still

HelloA) If you can parallel wire 3 x Sonos by Sonance 8 ohm speakers to each channel of the AMP, this gives a total impedance seem by the AMP as 2.67 ohms.B) However the following page: https://support.sonos.com/s/article/4730?language=en_US states you can only connect 2 x 8 ohm speakers per channel, this gives a total impedance seen by the AMP as 4 ohms.I don't understand if the amp can support (A) why I could not parallel connect 2 x 6 ohm Monitor Audio 180-T2 per channel - giving a total impedance seen by the amp as 3 ohms (greater than (A)).Can anyone explain this? I used to have a group with both my products/Beam and One.  Now it says I have to have 3 products for a group?  When did that change and what is the work around? I don’t want to be forced to buy a 3rd products. I also have 3 additional ALEXA speakers,but I don’t think they can be grouped with Sonos 

Is it possible to pair two Sonos Moves together with a pair of wired Polks connected and controlled through a Sonos Connect Amp?

Previously I had the following Sonos Setup:A Sonos One in the kitchen and a old Sonos Connet Amp S2.The Amp was connected via to the digital input to the digital output from my tv and the Amp's analog audio input was connected to my radio and the left and rigt speaker terminals was connected to my Beolab 8000 speakers.Due to the Amp's prioritization between input on digital and analog the amp would automatically switched between radio sound and TV sound, i.e. TV when the TV was turned on on and back again to radio when the TV was turned onand vice versa when the TV was ternede on again.Now I also have a Sonos Arc and 2 Sonos ONE SL's and a Sonos SUB all configured in the TV room.The Arc is connected to the TV's HDMI arc output, and TV sound is working fine.My Sonos Connect Amp S2 is now only connected to my Beo lab 8000 speakers.When I play music/radio via my Sonos app, I select output to go to my Sonos One in the kitchen and my Sonos Connect Amp S2 in my living room (which in fact als

I have recently upgraded to SONOS S2 software and removed old devices from my home network. In particular I wanted better Hi Res support for my HiFI setup. Imagine my alarm when I find that my old Connect (v2) works better than the new PORT and more to the point that the PORT is unusable in my system.Let me elaborate:My music is stored as uncompressed FLAC images, Rips of my CD collection. I play these via the Connect(V2) to an M-Dac (via coax cable). I have run tests and the bit pattern from my Library hard disk to the M-Dac is preserved exactly. that is, the original CD is delivered intact to the M-Dac! Great!Not so the PORT. Instead of delivering a 44.1/16 stream to the Dac it delivers 44.1/24. The original CD is changed and the DAC compromised. THIS is unacceptable.But here’s the thing. The PORT does NOT deliver even the lowest so called Hi Res file to the DAC.  I play a 48/24 file to the PORT and it does what Connect does and samples down to 44,1/24.The press releases for the SONO

Hi all.I’m trying to install two Boost in my system, in order to have a bitter experience.Actually, my system is connected via Amplifi, a mesh system from Ubiquiti.When I try to add the Boost, no way to get it in the system, so I’ve to wire it with the ethernet cable (out from the Amplifi router).After having connected it, and correctly  saw it in the system tab of the app, I remove the ethernet cable, but the boost disappears from the system. Has anyone any idea of what’s happening? Many thanks.
