Advanced setups

Hi!we are rolling out Intune in our company. we have a few test devices. On very small, but annoying problem, is that the Sonos app does not work, resp. cannot find the speaker on devices that are managed by Intune. The speaker itself is on the domain network via ethernet.I have worked with our IT provider but other than wasting time, we have not figured out what the problem is. The firewall rules for Sonos app and SonosService remain unticked in the allow app through firewall for all 3, domain, private and public.Any suggestions?thanksJonas

Amazingly enough there is no guidance on how to set-up a SONOS system in a vLAN on an enterprise grade network. (Apart from this brief statement about STP.)Currently we have the following set-up:Firewall cluster (2x Cisco Meraki MX100) Core switch VSF (2x Aruba 5406R zl2 chassis switches) Access switches (20x Aruba 2540 switches) 18x SONOS One SL in vLAN600 (untagged) 2x SONOS Play:1 in vLAN600 (untagged) We created five groups in SONOS with a couple of speakers attached to it. Using the alarm functionality the music in every group should stop and start automatically.We have RSTP implemented in the network and that works like a charm.Problem is: the SONOS system randomly stops playing (a couple of times a day).You can directly start it again via the app, but it is very annoying.We're completely in the dark:no STP events in the logs, no warnings/errors in the networking connection from ISP, no errors on the firewall etc…SonosNet is disabled on all devices, everything is wired

Forgive me if this has been asked many times before, just couldn't find a thread with my requirements.  I'm about to receive my 2nd Five to form a stereo pair.I currently use Roon via an endpoint and Dragonfly Cobalt DAC to aux line-in. I find I get better sound quality this way over using Tidal/Qobuz through the Sonos app or Tidal Connect.I do watch movies and want to simplify my current mess of HomePods and Apple TV but don't want a soundbar. I plan to use the Fives in stereo and will likely use a DAC from TV to aux line-in on one of the Fives. TV watching is not my priority so sound quality isn't important.As I use Roon as per above, can I use both aux line-ins (not at the same time), if so will they play out of both speakers? Thanks in advance 

I have noticed that can group rooms from the Sonos app.    Are you only able to set an alarm for one speaker or can you group speakers for certain time periods (morning wake-ups in multi rooms) I want to wake up with music in several rooms on weekdays, but in afternoon my need for playing music is different and then I need to re-group. setting them individually does work as it is out of sync

As above.I am not sure if anybody here use Untangle firewall but there seems to be a problem with Multicast traffic from the Beam. I can see the Beam issued with my assigned static IP but other than that, it doesnt to be able to setup properly.Any ideas to solve it?

I’m super frustrated. I have 4 Sonos Connect: Amps all direct connected to my Nighthawk MR60. This setup has worked for well over a year since I moved to the nighthawk without any issues. In the last 5 or 6 weeks I started getting a message “Unable to play… the connection to… was lost” Doesn’t matter if it’s Apple Music or Sirius or anything. I called Sonos, we did some troubleshooting, and they were unable to even see my hardware online. So what changed? I got a new ISP, which only meant a new modem within the network of my home. Yes, I’ve rebooted every single device, more than once. Tonight I decided to wipe my router and set it up from scratch. No change. I reinstalled the Sonos App and tried to start over from scratch. The App when trying to connect to the “new” network see’s the Network, asks me for a password, and then tells me the password is wrong. Like, cmon, I know the password isn’t wrong. I don’t know what else to do. Has anyone successfully gotten through something simila

Hi everyone,I am attempting to connect my Sonos Arc Surround sound to a Denon AVR-S960H with my video source being a Sony projector VPLVW715ES. My video source is a chrome cast and that is working fine through the receiver. I have turned Arc on but Sonos is not finding it once connected and I try to set it up in the App. Do I need the Sonos Port to make this work? Is there a setting I am missing?Thank you for your help!

There used to be a setting under sub that allowed me to change the sub level under the sub settings. It's no longer there. They're did it go? 

Does anyone know if it is possible to use the phono pre-amp ground input to ground an external sub when using high frequency connection? on the AMP.

I am attempting to get fuller sound with the addition of a sound bar to an existing Arc setup. Can this be done with an optical splitter and they simultaneously play TV output.Alternatively, can the Playbar be split in same fashion to run with (different setup) a current version Beam?Any suggestions? Thanks! 

Hi,I have a BT Smart Hub 2 and I’m in the UK. I downloaded the Wi-Fi analyzer Android app to check for the best 2.4ghz channel to set my router to. I have noticed on it though, that under the 5ghz tab, myself and pretty much everyone around me is set to channel 36 (my Router has this one set under it’s auto smart setting unlike the 2.4 where it had a manual channel selected).When I then do diagnostic on the app it tells me everything is fine apart from the 5ghz channel where it is reporting interference : 90% and recommends another channel - 38 through to 44. I know I would have to turn off the smart function to set this in my router otherwise it will just revert back to channel 36.Is there a reason BT would have set the Hub in that way for the 5ghz channel and should I leave it alone? Or would picking a fixed one that isn’t used nearby be a good thing to do?

I have a Port connected to a 3rd party receiver/speaker setup, and the Port is the only audio source.  Is there a solution that will allow the Port to switch on the 120V power to the receiver (maybe somehow using the Sonos-family 12V switching capability)?  It seems not, but looking to see if anyone has thought about this.  Thanks!

So, I know that right now having a pair of Fives as surround for your home theater, is impossible if one of them is being used for line in.Reading some topics in this community, it’s clear that, having this option would be greatly appreciated. My question is: why is that not possible still? Sonos sells turntables sets in your website, why don’t let people use their Fives as surround as well?

Good evening, Last month I installed the Sonos Amp with two outdoor speakers on the back patio. The Amp is in our pool house and we enjoying streaming music with the S2 app.  I'd like to set up an outdoor projector so the kids can watch movies, and ideally have the sound play through the speakers (S2 app)?  From my research I'm hearing that I need a projector with HDMI arc?  If this is the case I cannot find an outdoor projector with this option.  Any thoughts?  I have a Samsung Note 11 for a phone.  My hope was to stream Netflix, Disney, Amazon Prime Video and have all the audio play on the speakers.  I appreciate the help and feedback!

OK, so I have a Velop Mesh system (3 nodes) 2 Play 1’s, Play 3 and a Play One.I’ve read many posts about this but still can’t get a clear answer. The access to each device depends on which room I am in and the house, and still can’t get any grouping to work.Is there a simple solution (ideally other than buying Boost!) and even then I’m not sure that will work...will it?!

Hi all - I have just bought the Sonos Ray as a soundbar for my 2022 LG OLED 48A16LA tv. Has anybody been able to connect LG’s magic remote to the Sonos Ray? I’ve followed the conventional wisdom of going into the TV’s Universal Control Settings and getting as far as choosing Philips (no Sonos option available) only for the remote not to be recognised when the tv runs the test with the “power” button. Nothing happens when the onscreen “power” button is clicked so it defaults to another test and so on and so on but none of them connect. From the other side, when I use the Sonos phone app Settings/System/Device/Remote Control setup, and I click the Volume Up button as suggested, the Sonos Ray lights up and is being read by the remote however the app tells me it has failed (as soon as I finish pushing the buttons). So the magic remote is communicating with it but it will still not raise nor lower the volume. Any advice is welcome before I fuck the lot of them out the window. Thanks in adva

Hi,I currently have an ARC soundbar, Sub, and Set of Ones surrounds setup. (Via eHDMI)I have some unused in-ceiling speakers as well. If I buy an Amp and connect these via banana clips...will the original setup still function the same too?Or do I loose the functionality of the Ones in order for the Amp to work with the other in-ceiling speakers? Note: this room is only used for watching TV, no music playing Thanks!

I’m planning to update my celling speakers and amps. Right now the amps are in the pantry with connection to the speakers and I don’t have wires from TV to the pantry so I can’t use TV as source without delays.  I’m thinking of using one Sonos amp connecting to TV HDMI arc and another in the pantry to power the celling speakers and group them together so I can use celling speakers as TV speakers. Would there be delays in such use case? Any suggestions would be helpful

Hello everyone. I have an older Samsung plasma television that has one A.R.C. output I'm trying to find an option that allows me to plug into the Sonos arc.  I know a lot of the audio extractors don't work with the sonos arc but I'm looking at the Biground eARC HDMI audio extractor.  I can't find any good information about this thing. It looks like it'll work if input 2 will output a video signal but it looks output 2 only does audio that wouldn't work as only input 1 does eARC and needs to go to the Sonos unit.  If anybody has used this extractor let me know if it worked for you.Thanks~Rob

I’m getting a pair of GoldenEar Triton 2+ floorstanding speakers.  I’d love Sonos and I only care about Sonos as a source.  I’d like to setup:Port  → DAC → Amp → SpeakersI’m curious what external DAC folks have found to be superior to the built-in Port DAC?And if you want to throw in what type of Amp/Speakers that’d be cool too!  I’m considering Cambridge, NAD, Anthem, Parasound.

Hi SONOS community,We have SONOS in a luxury lounge and we need to stop playing the music and play emergency announcements when facility management broadcast them.Is there a solution for this requirement? I have used Sonos for years, here is my current set of speakersFour Sonos Play 1’s - only two recognized by Sonos 2 One Sonos 3 One Sonos 5 (Gen 1) - Removed from the system One Sonos 5 (Gen 2) - Not recognized by Sonos 2 One Sub One Playbar One Sonos Connect - Removed from the systemAs the App slowly coached me over to Sonos 2, i was slow to move over and used to old app for some time. At some point I updated my system to Sonos 2 and it advised me at that time that some speakers were not compatible. Namely the Connect and the Sonos 5 (Gen 1). Not all speakers were online at the time i updated. Once done, i am no longer able to run the older application. Would it make sense that the ones not online (had them unplugged for various reasons) are excluded now?I now have two Play 1’s that are not recognized and the Sonos Play 5 (Gen2) is not recognized either. I have 4 Sonos Amps that are currently stacked on a shelf in a wall-mounted rack, there is no additional airflow currently.  When they are stacked in a 2x2 format the bottom ones get quite warm.  Currently, not in use I’m measuring the one of the bottom ones at 111F.  If I stagger them the temperature seems normal.  As they seem to be designed to be stacked, is this an acceptable temperature?  During use I assume they will get even hotter, I’ll have to measure.Otherwise, does anyone have any suggestions?  I got the Middle Atlantic 4U Sonos Amp rack as I thought they were actually spaced between the units but they are not.  I’m now thinking about getting either the Penn Elcom 2U and using 2 of them to create a gap between the Amps or the Middle Atlantic 2U (they seem basically the same function).Anyone have this same situation and what did you do?

Hello,Can I use the available port on the Sonos Boost as a regular ethernet switch and, thus, use it to extend my network coverage or is it to use only with any other Sonos devices ?Thanks in advance. 

Hey guys,i have an older Philipps TV, a Cable Box, AppleTV and a PS3. The TV has three HDMI inputs 1 (with ARC), 2 and side. So far, after installing my Beam on hdmi 1, AppleTV on hdmi 2 and the Cable Box to side, my setup works as expected with the Beam delivering audio via ARC from the currently playing device (I.e. AppleTV or cable box). However in this setup, I have to plug the PS3 (serving mostly as Blue-Ray player) into hdmi side instead of the cable box, when I use it, and plug the cable box back after use, which is tedious (wall mounted TV) and the kids often forget after playing, so my wife complains the TV is broken, when hatching her shows. :-/Thus, I was thinking, if there is a splitter or other device, so that I can plug the PS3 back into hdmi 1 (Video and Audio in), but have the arc signal passed to the beam?thanks in advance!
