Advanced setups

How many people are considering moving away from SONOS due to the lack of an official response from SONOS on the SMB 1 security issue? I have been a long time supporter of SONOS and am dismayed at their lack of response at the many threads on the SMB1 security issues.  I use a NAS to my music with SONOS and this was one of the primary reasons for my first purchase when they first introduced the product to the market. I had already stared upgrading my SONOS equipment to support S2 but have halted all purchases until I get an official response to the SMB1 issue. I have sent a E-Mail to the SONOS CEO requesting an official response and will update this thread when I get a response to my E-Mail.

Our SONOS One System can be controlled using the SONOS App either from our laptops or Apple Devices. I am now in the process of populating the Synology DS418Play NAS recently added to the home network with our CD collection, etc. I have added the associated ‘Music Library’ to SONOS without difficulty and can now use the SONOS App on our laptops and Apple Devices to play music from that Library without any issues.I have also installed Plex Media Server on the Synology NAS; and have installed Plex on the laptops and Apple Devices. All the devices can access the music on the NAS using the Plex Media Server and play that music on the devices’ own internal speakers.However there seems to be an issue with connectivity between the Plex Media Server and SONOS.Although clicking the play icon at the right hand side of Plex’s top toolbar enables one of the several SONOS speakers to be selected from a dropdown list, a ‘Playback Error’ appears when ‘Play’ is clicked. I have an HD radio tuner connected to a Sonos Five, and set to auto play, so I can use without ever going to the Sonos App. I also play this source to speakers in another room. The speakers in the other room remember last played source, so I can simply play radio by touching play button on speaker in other room. However, if I play an airplay source in between, the speaker forgets the airplay source after it ends (as it should). But it does not revert back to the previous played source  (line-in source), unlike it does if I had played any other network source (eg, Amazon music radio station) within the Sonos App before playing from airplay. My question:  is there a setting to make a line-in source to have the same “last-played” behavior as other network sources played from the Sonos app? If not, I would ask Sonos to include this feature in the next update. 

I have a sound bar and two SL Ones. When watching certain movies the surround is louder than the voices coming from the sound bar and you can’t hear the people talk. Is there a way to turn down the SL Ones manually from the app. I’ve tried every option and it won’t let me turn them down or turn the sound bar up. 

Ive got a Five and Sub and a Boost running off our home internet.  The setup works great.  It’d be fun to take this setup camping.  I understand the power constraints, issues with music off grid, etc.  My question is, can I just unplug the Five, Sub, and Boost, then plug it all back into the battery pack and pull local music from phone?

Have a 3 car garage and converted the single into a home gym. I’ve got 4 One SL’s hooked up and a Gen 3 sub on top of the water heater in the opposite corner. Can anyone tell me why I’m only hearing that true deep bass in certain areas of the garage and not all over? It’s really disappointing to be honest, but hopefully there’s a solution? thank you very much in advance for any advice.

Good afternoon all hoping you can help. First off I’m not the most technical. We live on a school site and each house has its own WiFi plus an over arching school WiFi and a guest WiFi. I cannot seem to be able to connect to the system. I can get as far as the Playbar making it’s own WiFi and my phone connecting to that. However when it tries to transfer over to the WiFi of our home it doesn’t work.  there is one other system connected to the school WiFi and my Sonia app will try and pick that one up. That house is over 800 meters away so it is a WiFi issue.  can anyone help with this?  kind regards  Ian

Utilizzando Qobuz potrei accedere ai brani hi res fino a 192kHz che sonos riproduce come FLAC (16bit /44 khz) Se collego l’uscita digitale al dac esterno, nel DAC esterno arriverà il segnale di Qobuz hires o Sonos non lo fa passare nanche in digitale?

I’ve moved my networking equipment into a small rack in the garage. To cut down on required power plugs in the rack, I’ve used a multi-port USB charger to provide power to Hue and Hive hubs. I’d like to do the same for the Sonos Boost, but I’m really struggling to find a USB DC power cable with the correct barrel connector to fit the Boost properly.The nearest connector I found was Type H (OD: 3.4mm, ID:1.3mm) that you can just about squeeze in, but it’s an unreliable loose fit. Does anyone know the size spec of the Boost power connector, or even better found a USB DC power cable that fits? Or is it a non-standard Sonos specific fitting?An ebay option I tried that claimed to be for the Boost just sent the same Type H cable that’s too loose.

Hi all... we have a largish commercial space, about 250 SQM's and are going to put 3 Sonos 5's in the left and right corner. The ceilings are high, maybe 2.5 metres... would it be best to point them down and facing vertical or down and horizontal?Below are images of the room at different angles and where I propose to put the Sonos 5’s… 

I know there have been discussions on what ports are needed for the Sonos controller app to work, but I have the opposite questions, what are the minimal set of ports to block the Sonos app. My use case is for a vacation home and AirBnB. I want my AirBnb guest to be able to the Sonos via AirPlay, Pandora app, and Spoitfy connect, but I do not want them to be able to use the Sonos app to mess up my services / settings. I use to have this working, but I think some ports changed somewhat recently. Thanks all.

Hello!I have a relatively long room.My TV is on one side. I’m looking at buying a home cinema set (Arc + 2 One + sub, or Arc + 2 Five).The problem I have is when using the speakers to listen to music and being somewhere else in the room. Sound power is more than adequate, but I can’t really enjoy stereo sound since both soundbar and surround speakers are on one side of the room.I am thinking of buying additional speakers and place them at the very opposite side of the room, where the kitchen is, or on the two sides of the table. However, I would like to profit from the rich set of speakers on the TV side.Any suggestion on how to optimize the setup?  

I will be using the Sonos amp’s RCA Line In from my home theater preamp’s Height channel outputs. They will be connected to my In ceiling speakers to be used as Atmos  height channels. Because height channels cannot be repurposed as a stereo pair for music, would the Sonos amp solve my problem and automatically switch between network airplay and the line in height channels ?

I’m so sick and tired of having to spend 3 hours to get my Sonos app to recognize the speakers and play music.  This is so beyond ridiculous, the only reason I am still doing this is because of the almost $1k of investment in these speakers. Ok, got that out of my system.  Here’s the stats - have 2 Ones and a Move.  Xfinity internet, and added a TP-Link M5 mesh a couple months ago. I had an issue with that - took many hours over a month to finally get my speakers to use the main network.  Everything was ok - better anyway - for a month or so, then I opened the app the other day, and it says that my speakers need an update.  Ok, I’ve run updates before, and it’s a pretty easy, straightforward thing.  Well, no, I get an error.  Try again.  Still an error.  Go to the trouble shooting page.TANGENT:  Why are we supposed to just up an restart our router for EVERY DAMN problem these speakers have?  My son and I both work from home.  He has a CS job and sometimes works until 9 PM.  I CANNOT ju

can someone advise me on how i can divide a sonos install so that on one floor i can stream say apple music and on another floor stream spotify at same time.i only have one internet  fibre line.

This is a bit of a complicated scenario, but in essence I am wondering if it is possible toextract the front left and right channels of an HDMI stereo or surround input stream send them to 2 Symfonisk speakers (front left/right) that are connected as UPnP renderersI would then try to deal with the rest of the signal in another way; eventually also UPnP or wired off a soundcard… thank you Background: I very much like the Symfonisk panels, but they cannot be configured as front left/rights in a surround setup for some reason, so I am returning the rest of the Sonos stuff (Beam2 and sub)

Hello,sorry, not sure i put this in the correct sub forum… I’m new to the Sonos ecosystem.I just bought a Beam 2 for the TV and also a One and One SL … these last 2 I plan to use them in my bedroom.The thing is I have a computer monitor in which i plugged a Google Chromecast in order to cast TV channels , Netflix, Prime video from my phone or ipad. that’s great it’s like having a TV in the bedroom and since i bought the 2 One and One SL, i would like to use these for the sound. At the moment i only have the One SL … the second one and the beam 2 were bot in stock anymore at the shop so i tried to connect the One SL to the chromecast in my bedrrom. I installed the application, “configured it”, tested the radios, the music for my phone...it’s great ! so back to my bedroom, I open the Google Home app, find the device add it to the room and … when i want to add it to a speaker group (since Chromecast works with a speaker group only… ) I can’t add the One SL to the group …!! Is there a way,

I have a play 1 and connect using S2 that have been connected to a networked hard drive over a TP link 1750 router for 1-2 years. While playing music 2 weeks ago the sonos network lost connection to the drive. I’ve deleted the music library and tried to re-add it multiple times. I get an error message that includes “the device where the music files are stored may not be powered on or the path may have changed”. I can access the files through a computer and can access the drive using a Yamaha networked amp. I’ve adjusted/looked at all of the settings in the router and I’ve been on the phone with the sonos tech support for hours.  I can still stream music but I can’t access the music on the hard drive.  Any suggestions on a fix or why this might have suddenly happened?

I haven’t tried this yet but thinking about it.The system is an Arc, Amp, 2 Subs, Arcana, Apple TV 4K, JVC projector with an acoustically transparent screen.From the Arc disconnect the end speakers and run wires to the in wall surround speakers eliminating the use of an Amp.Disconnect the Atmos speakers and run wires to in ceiling speakers for a more realistic Atmos experience.Will Trueplay calibrate the speakers correctly. 

Hi all, I have the sonos ARC with surround speakers and connected to TV via eARC. Everything works perfectly when I watch a movie directly from the TV (Netflix etc) but when I connect a video via HDMI and VLC to the TV from my MAC, the voices come from the surround speakers ( mysteriously, only from the left back one) and not from arc which only plays the surround sounds. I tried all VLC settings and the only way to get the sound right is to disable the audio surround, which we obviously don't want to. Could anyone please help me here? Many thanks Dimitri 

I know these are well documented issues but I can’t get to the bottom of them.Speakers randomly cut out and cut back in whenever I’m listening to music When I change the track I always lose several speakers then they come back over time I experience substantial lag when casting music from Spotify to system vs using the Sonos appI have 13 Sonos Ones, 3 subs, and a Sonos Port connected to my system. For Wifi I have a Google Nest Mesh network with 3 access points scattered throughout my 3600 sq ft single story house. My internet speeds are amazing, I typically get 300+ MBPS down in any room of the entire home.I have unplugged my entire wifi network as well as all 13 devices, re-enabled the wifi network, and then plugged in all the devices but it didn’t fix anything.I have a diagnostics report here: 2004201836Also network analyzer (http://192.168.86.214:1400/support/review) seems totally useless, here’s what I’m getting:  

I’d like to stream videos from my laptop to a projector on my wall and am struggling to get good sound.I’m currently streaming video from my MacBook Pro (2017) to a projector via HDMI, but the sound comes out of my MacBook Pro…. hence I need better sound and want to use the Playbar (Version 14.0). I’ve tried multiple things and I can’t get the sound from my MacBook Pro to come out of the Sonos Playbar.   Here’s what I tried (none worked):Adapter - connecting the toslink (digital optical cable) from my Sonos Playbar into my MacBook Pro’s headphone jack using an adaptor that converts one end of the toslink to 3.5) Bluetooth Receiver - connecting the toslink (digital optical cable) from my Sonos Playbar into a Bluetooth receiver while my MacBook is connected to the bluetooth receiver via bluetooth. Hello!So I have a bit of a complicated situation.My Sonos system is set up under an apartment internet provider. I am using a personal router to distribute wireless.Last week the internet provider for the complex had a network issue to which the only fix was to manually assign your DNS to 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8 in order to be able to connect to the internet.Since you are unable to assign your DNS on your SONOS devices, would there be any reason I would be getting a 1101 while updating on my devices? I tried many things to fix this including manually setting the DHCP on my router and the static DNS, but nothing will fix my sonos system or allow My Sonos One or my Symfonisk to connect to the internet, or update. Any recommendations on trying to get my sonos system to connect or update properly? It’s basically unusable - barring the airplay

Hi Support Community - I have a Sonos Beam Gen 2 with 2 Sonos One SL used as surround speakers.I have an external third party subwoofer (Rel T3) and I was hoping to add the subwoofer and pair to the Beam and One SL surround speakers using the Sonos S2 app. I understand that the Sonos Beam can be paired to the Sonos Connect AMP (Gen 2) to add rear speakers, but just wondering if this can also be used to connect to a subwoofer instead (noting that I will not be using the amp to add rear surrounds)?Thanks!
