Advanced setups

My Sonos setup is working fine. Wired the Beam to my router and Ones, Sub all work fine. I have a wired access point to boost signal through the house with the same SSID as the main router. When I walk round the house and my iPhone is on the main router everything is fine. However when my phone picks up the strongest signal on the access point I cannot connect via the Sonos app to my system. I suspect it’s a setting within my NETGEAR WAX204 that I’m using as an access point. Anyone any ideas?

Hi, need a setup at workshops I lead to mix music from my laptop or iPhone, with a microphone input. Can I do this on my Sound Bar? And would it be crazy to shlep the sound bar to locations where I’m speaking? Thanks for letting me know.

I recently installed Verizon FIOS Gigabit Internet service. The FIOS diagnostic app shows that the wifi system is being slowed down by the SONOS network running on an outdated wifi protocol. I tried changing the channel on the 2.4 Gig band to i, 6 or 11 as I had seen on another forum but it did not help.I have also heard that one can set up the SONOS network on a separate wifi network, but I don’t know how to use the SONOS app since all my devices are on the main home wifi network.Thanks for any ideas! I am using 2 SONOS Play 5 Gen 1 and 1 Play 5 Gen 1.

I am trying to add an external HD to my system as the Music Library. This worked when I used an NAS but although I’ve gone through the right steps (I think) with this hard drive, and updated the library, I get ‘no selections are available’ when I look for music.

Dear All,I have a ikea symfonisk second gen (ID A201). Sonos OS2 version 14.20.1 (build 70436090).I set up a fresh install of Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS server with Samba version 4.15.13-Ubuntu on my Pi.I can reach flaweless the SMB share from my MacOS, WinOS and from VLC on my android TV. Sonos refuse to connect to the server.First it seems that Sonos can reach the server, but after a while it refuse the connection. Please who can help me?

Considering the above for a living room.  I understand the trueplay won’t be available for the 3rd party speakers as mains, BUT… will trueplay be available for the subs and the One’s?Thanks.. 

I’ve been troubleshooting some issues with my Sonos set-up after the introduction of a new router from my ISP provider. I have a Sonos SL One in a detached garage and one in an attached garage.  Both run wireless.  I do not have them set up as stereo pair.  One shows WM: 0 and the other has WM: 1. I have many other devices connected by Ethernet (amps, Sonos One, etc.) but not these two speakers. I’m confused why one of these would show WM 1 and the other WM 0.  Shouldn’t they be the same?Both have Wifi enabled if that matters. Thank you.

I’m moving into a new house in a few months and am finally at a point where I can finish my main room video / audio setup. Here is what I have currently:A 4K compatible TVan all-in-one region free Blu-ray / DVD / HDCD player, hooked up to the TV Via HDMIA second generation play 5 next to the tvA beam paired with the television. Streaming video and the blu ray player play through the tv and the beam (play 5 muted)music - both streaming and the cd player- plays through the paired play:5 and the beam.  when we movie the plan is this:Buy the mini subbuy two one SLs as rear channel surrounds buy a turntable and amp it through the play:5play music in surround (5+1s + beam + sub), playable from streaming, the turntable, and CDPlay TV in surround (same setup as above, minus the play5). so, the question: is there anything I am missing here or anything that won’t work in the new setup? It is possible the 5 and beam together is overkill, but I already have the 5 and listen to more music than TV h

Hello,I’ve moved to a Nest Wifi Pro mesh network. Whereas I previously didn't have any issues with the earlier Nest mesh network, I can't seem to connect my speakers wirelessly using the S2 mobile app. From the research I have done, it seems like Sonos don't like networks where the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands aren't split, like with the Nest Pro. My current solution is to use the controller app on a Windows PC, and wire the speakers. I have gotten rid of my Sonos Bridge a long time ago, but a bridge which could be accessed wirelessly to talk to wired speakers would also have been a good solution I guess. Any way, it would be nice if the setup process could be changed so the speakers can connect to a wireless networks where the bands have not been split.

It would be nice to be able to configure the delay on the 12v trigger. I'd like to set it to zero, so it turns off immediately when someone hits pause. I'm using it to control an audio crossfade from my TV.

HI, just got a sub mini, but not compatible with S1 app, i am trying to use the S2 app, but cannot setup anything, keep asking to downgrade to S1 cause some product are not compatible with S2, but the sub is not compatible with S1Can i upgrade S1 to S2 ? very confusing THanks 

Hi,Is there a big difference between Wifi 5 and 6 considering my ISP max speed is 50Mbps?I just installed a new mesh router with wifi 5 and while the speed is at the max the delivery seems a bit lagging compared to my old ISP router. Will Wifi 6 be faster and smoother or is it just a hype?Cheers  

Sonos uses non-standard STP path costs, which is problematic for advanced implementations.  Request for an update to leapfrog compliant STP path costs and support RSTP.

I have just signed up to their 5G Home Broadband, which I am quite happy with, apart from the fact I cannot get my 4 Play 1’s and Playbase connected to it.  I can get one Play 1 to work if I use an ethernet cable, but as soon as I disconnect it it is no longer detected.   I have called Sonos who said I need to contact Three to sort it out because they couldn’t, so I called them who said I needed to call Zyxel.  I called Zyxel who won’t deal with it as Three have changed the firmware of the router.  Has anyone had similar issue and got the speakers to work?

I have a number of Sonos speakers but do not watch TV. I listen mostly to music. I would like a volume control for the speakers. I do not want to search for the phone to do this. I would like a remote control to adjust volume, start/stop the music and jump between tracks. I search the Sonos website and cannot find an accessory for this. What options do I have from third party supplies that are compatible with Sonos. Are there Zigbee hub options? Zigbee is increasingly popular with manufactures of smart products. Something that supports Beam 2 would be helpful.Please note that I do not want to have to turn on the TV. I am aware that is an option with the Beam 2. Using Sonos products without the TV is my preferred option. Thank you. 

Can I use my play5 2nd gens Ethernet ports to get a LAN connection for my PC?I have a Connect Amp connected to my router downstairs.I’m sure that previously I connected my upstairs PC to the ethernet port on my play 5 and was able to access the internet for my PC via the play5.   When I do this now the PC just say its a unidentified network with no internet access.Is this possible?I’m sure I did this a few years ago and the PC when online straight away…Thanks in advancePaul  

Greetings. My home Wi-Fi is made up of 4 google Wi-Fi access points. I installed 4 new speakers in my patio cover. I am powering the speakers using the Sonia amp. That part works fine. When I try to pair my sub with the amp it will pair and then come up “not connected”. The amp for the patio is in my bedroom closet as to not be outside in the elements.  I have a Ethernet cable plugged into the amp. The sub will only connect when it’s with 10 to 15 feet of the amp. Any further than that it will not pair up.to my understanding, if the amp is connected via cable, it will use SonosNet to connect to the sub. So does that mean if I connnectvthe amp with standard wifi the sun should be wifi as well?  The is an access point right above where the sun is and it’s still not working. The only think that makes the sun work is moving it closer rot eye amp. When amp is connected via Wi-Fi and when the sub actually connects, the WM for the amp is 1 and for the sub it’s 2. Hello,Due to physical and network constraints, I want to use SonosNet and have one speaker wired.I would like that speaker to be a Sonos One SL which is bonded as a surround speaker (to an Amp). I have multiple other Sonos speakers in other rooms.Will this work fine, or is there any restriction preventing surround speakers being the “master” wired node for SonosNet?Thanks in advance! 

Dear community,I'me refurbishing completely a 3 story apartment. I'm planning to have several Sonos units on 1st and 3rd floor. I see two options:wire one unit in each floor and have the other units connected through sonos net. I guess this will create 2 sonos nets independent from each other right? wire every unit in each floor; more work and less flexibilityI would only go for 2. if there was any issue with 1. Otherwise is more work and less flexibility to move units around. Which way would you go for? Thanks in advance! André

Note the information below is current as of 2/13/23 for MacOS Ventura 13.1.  Lord knows what changes the winds of times and whims of Apple Software Engineers will bring.So like many folks in this forum, I’ve been frustrated by the Sonos Library  recently refusing to recognize new playlists.  I periodically copy my Apple Music library and related files (the whole darn …/Music folder) to a shared drive that Sonos has access to.  Doing an index from the Sonos app picks up new music, but recently tends not to recognize new playlists even with repeated indexes, even deleting and recopying the music library, or sacrificing a chicken under a new moon, the whole drill.   No love on new playlists.   After a bit of digging around I think I know what happened and how to fix it.   So in the old days of iTunes, Apple would automatically generate and keep up to date a file called iTunes Music Library.xml, stored in …/Music/Itunes/.   Sonos indexing apparently uses that file to do its magic.  Cue dar

Five play1s and a thingee for a sub. I spend way too much time debugging sonos. I have great wifi, nothing else going on (no gaming in parallel). Sonos complains, can't connect, then it connects, then it plays a few songs on Pandora only to stop and restart a new song mid-song. And streaming is its strength. Playing stuff from my PC ? forget it. It works, its just FLAKY. Great idea Sonos, it's just too damn flaky. Next time, bluetooth and cast to local speakers. Done. Ive already invested in sonos, but will never spend another penny, and if it dies, bye bye sonos.

I have just moved house having had my sonos system work well before.  Previously I had Virgin Media as my ISP and was using a Google Mesh to share the wifi around the house.I’ve moved and taken the mesh with me and now use BT as my ISP.  The Google Mesh uses exactly the same network name and password, but I cannot get my Sonos to connect.If I connect one directly to either the BT router or the Google Mesh router via Ethernet cable, I can see that and use it on my account, but none of the other speakers connect at all.One suggestion I’ve seen is that having both mesh and smart hub as DHCP causes an issue, but I can’t make the hub a modem only device.  I need to use the google mesh through the house as the signal won’t reach otherwise.BT have changed the wifi signal from their router to 2.4GHz which has helped, but it is not having any effect.Any ideas and suggestions would be great!!  It’s all getting rather frustrating. (edited to correct spelling)

My SONOS system consists of (3) Play3s, (1) Arc, (1) Sub, (1) Move, and (1) Roam. They were all working great on my old Wi-Fi system. All were and are wireless.  I upgraded my Wi-Fi to a Ubiquity Dream Machine Pro Special Edition with (3) hard-wired Ubiquity WAPs. Same network name and password.  Now, nothing works even after doing the standard Sonos app “Let’s fix it” to move to the new network. Have also tried to do a hard factory reset. Have also tried to use one of my Play (3)s in a hard-wired scenario to act as a bridge. Still does not work.  what the heck do I do?

I recently bought a Sonos amp and have no problem using Apple Airplay from my Mac and iPhone.  I also have the amp connected to a CD player.I was told I can connect an external hard drive through the ethernet port but there is no information on the Sonos website on how to do this.  I put all my MP3s and MP4s on a Sandisk solid state hard drive and and hoped to play them directly from this.Anyone figured out how to do this?  Sorry, but only proficient in Mac operating systems.

Want to change so is to new WiFi but doing this wireless (the app helps you through the steps) gives me an error (cannot connect to SONOS wifi). I remember that a way around might be to connect via Alan Ethernet cable speaker for speaker. True?
