Voice control and smart home

Hello, so here’s a weird one… We have a few Sonos speakers, including a Sonos Beam in the living room, with some Sonos Play speakers supplementing it, and a stereo-pair of Sonos Play in my office room and a single Sonos One in the bathroom (don’t ask).I have the speakers grouped into ‘Lounge’, ‘Bathroom’, ‘Office’, ‘Upstairs’, ‘Downstairs’ and ‘Everywhere’.This issue happens on Alexa, regardless of whether I ask the Sonos Beam in the living room, or the Sonos One in the bathroom.Sooo….  If I say to Alexa “Play Radio 2”, it will play BBC Radio 2 (from BBC Sounds) on that speaker, no problem.  However, if I say “Play Radio 2 in Bathroom”, or “Play Radio 2 in Lounge”, or “Play Radio 2 Upstairs”, or “Play Radio 2 Everywhere” (basically, asking for any particular speakers/room/group), it will play “S4-Radio Two from TuneIn”, whatever the hell that is! Alexa on Sonos will only play BBC R2 if I don’t specify a speaker, group or room, otherwise it’s this S4 thing.It doesn’t do this with other

HiFor a couple of years, I have used Sonos One Google Assistant to play Talksport every day when returning home from work. This has worked flawlessly. For the past week, I have said “Hey Google, play Talksport” and instead it has found and played a station called U105 Christmas. I’ve tried several times and it now does the same EVERY time.  Any ideas appreciated Paul

To whom it may concern,For the entire day of today, I have tried setting up the google assistant in my Sonos speakers. I've had the Sonos One, and the One SL for a while, with the assistant working perfectly until today. As soon as I added the Roam to the app, the problems began. I cannot add the voice assistant to it, moreover, the voice assistant doesn't work whatsoever for any of the products.I have tried the countless solution in Sonos forums and on Reddit, with no success.Once I get to the Google Home app, and it asks me to sign in to my sons account, it redirects to a page that asks for me to update my app (it is updated), and that there are no speakers on my account (yes, there are)I have reset all the accounts, re-installed everything, factory reset all the speakers, deleted and adjusted everything I could. Created new accounts to try and add the Google assistant, but nothing has worked. I have submitted diagnostics #999897859

I just bought my first Sonos One and having real difficulty with it. The microphone will not light up and I cannot enable the Sonos skill in the Alexa app. In fact, the two problems seem to be related from what I’ve read. The light will not come on until the Sonos skill is enabled on Alexa. When I try to enable the skill, Alexa tells me I have to link the speaker to my Sonos account first, but I’ve already done that

So you can’t change the wake word for Alexa on Sonos, and clearly lots of people in this community would like this functionality. My question is, how do we get that message to Sonos management directly? I’m thinking that posting that request in this forum is a post to the community, that is preaching to the converted.

Hi. First, my english is bad, sorry for that. When I asked my sonos arc to turn of the tv, it says ok, but nothing is happening. When I ask it to turn the TV on, everything is working fine. When I ask it to turn the volume up or down, I get a messenger that something went wrong. Anyone out there knowing whats wrong?

I just got my first Sonos, a Roam. I have Alexa enabled. I also have Wi-Fi color changing lights from Feit.  If tell the Alexa through the Roam to turn on the lights, it’s fine. If I tell it to change to a color, it tells me device not found. This isn’t an issue on my Amazon Alexa devices. Any idea how to fix this? Thank you in advance for your advice. 

HI - I have a Sonos Arc and I’d like to get the true surround sound experience and I’m thinking of getting a Sonos One (voice control) or Sonos SL (no voice control/microphone free).  The Arc has voice control - would getting the Sonos One be redundant to have another Amazon Alexa device in the room?  Any thoughts?  I’m thinking maybe I should just get a set of the Sonos SL - but - I thought if one day I move them to a room that doesn’t have the Arc..it might be nice to have the voice controls.  Any thoughts?  Thanks! - Kevin

just got my roam love it but voice control does not seem to work or am i misssing something ? say ‘ alexa ‘ as i do for the one or the echo but no reaction the white light is on to say mic is active plays music from app spoifiy etc not voice control any help be great thanks ( sorry if im being really thick which could be the case !! )

Despite the “we won’t support your old speakers” fiasco, I bought a Sonos Roam. What could go wrong buying a Bluetooth speaker that works with Sonos? I have to upgrade to S2. So I did, and had to split my system. I still don’t have the S1 system working even after 2 hours on chat with support yesterday as it still sees the new speakers. So I’ve put that on hold, and trying to get S2 to work. All compatible speakers including the Roam are visible in S2. Sonos is linked to Google Home. But I don’t see any speakers other than the Roam. When I reconnect Sonos in Google Home, all speakers show up for a few seconds, then disappear. In the S2 app, Settings/Services & Voice/Google Assistant shows only the Roam under Sonos Products. The speakers do appear in Google Home for a short thile, before disappearing. Has anyone seen this? I can’t face more time chatting with support, resetting speakers, turning my phone on and off. With S1, I was very impressed with Google integration.

Have linked assistant to my ARC and can see speaker on the Home App but when I try to play Spotify on Sonos, Assistant tries to connect and then states that the speaker is not available right now 

Very happy with my Roam but apparently it does not work on SONOSNET  (WMO) status WM1. The rest of my Sonos system only works on Sonosnet because I have a Mesh wifi system that, trust me, will not work correctly with Sonos (Mesh Tp-Link M9 Deco). The Roam works but I am not able to install Google assistant. Simply won’t find the Roam. It finds the other speakers just fine. (One, Arc) Could this have anything to doe with de WM1 status?  Thanks in advance 

Hi everyone, At home we have a system comprised of: 1 x Arc1 x Beam1 x Play:11 x Play:5 All have been working as intended previously, and even after we first setup Alexa the system continued to work fine both via voice commands and through the Sonos App for a while. Recently though, it seems that the Alexa app is somehow stopping the Sonos app from seeing our speakers, as we can continue to control them via voice commands but the Sonos app consistently gives us the message “Unable to connect to Sonos”. Sometimes turning our wifi router off and on works, sometimes just turning it off and on in our iPhone device settings seems to reset things, but only temporarily and we then have issues adding things to the queue via the Sonos app.  Things we’ve tried:Following the app troubleshooting process (turn off all speakers, then back on, turn off router, then back on, discover devices etc. - This has limited and very temporary success) Deleting and re-downloading the Sonos app Reconnecting the

The Beam google assistant worked fine for a year, but coincidentally around the time I’ve updated the iOS sonos app to v2 I couldn’t use the assistant anymore (I say hey google and get the response in the title of this post). I’ve managed to fix it twice by going through the google assistant and sonos app and reconnecting everything, but next day it comes back to this. Tried to uninstall the sonos app v2 and use the v1 again, but it can’t connect to it, probably because sonos v2 had installed a new firmware to the beam when I first installed it.  is there a permanent fix to this?

Priya Abani, director of Alexa Voice Service, announced in April 2018 that third-party Alexa-enabled devices will get calling and messaging abilities. In fact, since August 2018, these key Alexa features have been available on Eufy Genie - a third party Alexa-enabled gadget. Sonos, however, remains tight lipped about its plan. I received my Beam earlier this week and was really excited. I was planning on purchasing two more for the whole family. I'm so disappointed to find out that key features such as calling, messaging, and drop-in are not supported on Sonos Beam or One. It appears that Sonos has no plans to support these features at all. At first, I thought Amazon refuses to allow third-party gadgets to have these features. But, Eufy Genie, a 3rd-party device with an RRP of only $35 (and on sale for $15 on Amazon at time of this post), supports all these features. I would like to ask a couple of questions: Are these key Alexa features on the roadmap of Sonos Beam

Took delivery of my Sonos Roam today and discovered I can use it to sync Sonos with Amazon Echo Multi-Room Speaker groups. This is what I did:Connected an Echo Flex to the Roam via Bluetooth (the Echo Flex is part of an Echo Multi-Room Group).Played from Spotify to the Echo Multi-Room Group (including the Roam from the Echo Flex via Bluetooth).Played on all my Sonos speakers by grouping with the Roam in the Sonos App.Result: Synced musics on all Echo and Sonos speakers! 

Every couple weeks, Alexa stops responding to commands or stops responding consistently. For example, I can start playing something with a voice command but cannot stop playing or adjust the volume with a voice command despite hearing the acknowledgement chime. To fix this issue, I have to disable and re-enable Alexa several times before capabilities are restored.  Have others experienced this? Is there a long term fix that is known or in the works?

Is it just me or is GA integration getting worse by the day? It's getting to the point now where you can't rely on an adequate response from any command. It's nearly always 'i can't do that right now' or I can't find any devices.... etc etc. I know it's not my set up as sometimes it work and sometimes it doesn't. I have created a new applet in IFTTT. In short, it is triggered by a webhook and then it plays a favourite track on my Sonos system. It works great as long as I choose 'include all rooms' and my favorite starts playing. But when I choose 'this room only' nothing happens.  I would like to play the song on an Ikea Symfonisk, but the result is same when I try on my Sonos One or my beam  

I’ve had my Beam for about a year and up until a month or so ago, it was working well with Alexa. Now however, for seemingly no reason, Alexa does not respond. The activity light doesn’t activate and no response is given when asking Alexa to do something. The audio from the beam continues to work when using my TV as a source. Troubleshooting steps I have taken:I have followed the steps in the support page here twice. It works after following all the steps but after 24 hours, stops working again.  I have tried to remove all speakers in my setup and re-add them. Again, this works for a short while, maybe 2-3 days before it stops again.I purchased a new router a couple of months ago (ASUS RT-AX82U) and is the only thing I can think of that might be causing this apart from a potential hardware issue on the beam. Has anyone had any similar issues to these?Thanks,Haydn

Afternoon all. Have a reasonable size Sonos system built over time covering inside & garden on S2 now. All working a treat. Over time I’ve acquired more of these Philips Hue lights than I realised and they are rather good on the whole. I have about 15 of them in the garden I think.I’ve a need (later year - birthday event) to get the two working together.I have the Philips Hue Entertainment App installed on Win 10 PC and it talks to all the lights very happily and I can create multiple entertainment zones. But I do not know how to use Sonos as the source to get the Hue lights to do their thing i.e flash and change colour in time to the music. Probably sounds naff but looking to play the opening quiet 3 mins of The Prague Philharmonics version of Blue Danube outside with a gentle light performance before the remaining 7 mins to a professional firework display. Whenever I launch BBC sounds app using Alexa, everything seems to work smoothly. Except for the news. Whenever I ask for the interactive BBC News, you hear the introduction and the summary of the news (about 30 seconds) and then it repeats the same 30 seconds over and over indefinitely until you ask to stop it. I have Alexa on an echo dot, on my Sonos One and on Sonos Arc. The Echo Dot has no problems. This issue only happens on Sonos One and Arc. I’ve tried everyting. Reset the sonos, reset the router, logged in and out of my accounts. Nothing works. Any advice? Thanks

As mentioned in the title, when Sonos is playing a radio station (TuneIn) my application receives no imageUrl in the metadataStatus from the Sonos cloud. In the Sonos app (iOS, Windows) an Image with the logo of the radio station is shown.This is an example of the received metadataStatus object:{"container":{"name":"Radio Paradise","type":"station","id":{"serviceId":"254","objectId":"s13606","accountId":"sn_0"},"service":{"name":"TuneIn","id":"254","images":[]},"images":[],"explicit":false},"streamInfo":"Steely Dan - Midnight Cruiser"}I wonder, how do I get an image of the currently played radio station from the Sonos Control API?
