Voice control and smart home

I have two stand alone Alexa device (an echo and a dot), alexa on a sonos move and alexa on a sonos beam. Until about a week ago these were working fine, but suddenly alexa on the sonos beam seemed to think it was on a different account (it isn’t I’ve checked several times and even uninstalled it and reinstalled it).Anyway if I now say to the sonos beam alexa ‘turn on tv’ it answers ‘umm that doesn’t seem to be on the account’. Last week it just turned the TV on or off as requested. The Alexa on the Sonos Move will turn on the TV as will my other Alexa devices.Of if I say play LBC it does play it but says ‘ playing LBC London from Flora’s Global Player’ (Flora is my wife’s name and she doesn’t have an LBC account), whereas last week it just used to say ‘playing LBC London from Global Player’, as it still does with my other devices.If I say ‘play BBC Radio 4’ it now says ‘you need to connect to your BBC account to listen to Alexa. My Sonos One and Echo both stopped responding to voice commands last night.  While the Echo is now working correctly, the Sonos I'd a different story.  I have tried everything, including a Factory Reset.I'm hoping someone had some fresh ideas.

It just stopped working! I link up radio stations and I ask Alexa to play and she acknowledges station but then nothing. Any help out there? 

Initially thought this was just an issue with my One, but checked the Roam and also not responding to any Alexa commands. Other non-Sonos Alexa devices all fine.Tried all the usual troubleshooting suggestions:Disabled/re-enabled in Alexa Skills Checked correct Amazon account in use Factory reset Sonos devices on network Deregistered devices from Alexa Removed/re-installed Alexa voice service on both Sonos devicesWhen re-installing Alexa on the devices the process completes successfully in Sonos (Alexa says “hello” etc), but Alexa app still says they are “offline”.Any other ideas?

Alexa does not respond on my speakers, I have tried removing voice services and re adding, also sign in and out of both sonos and amazon, disabled and re enabled the sonos skill.When I do this I get the following message in the amazon app.Alexa app says sonos app needs updating to link speakers but the sonos app is up to date.Totally at a loss and loosing the will to keep my sonos system.

Just recently whenever I ask Alexa to play one of my playlists it responds that it is playing “<playlist name> and similar songs”.  It then proceeds to play similar songs only and none from my playlist.  Any idea how I can stop this?

Any news on Sonos adopting the Matter standard?

So I’ve been trying to google/searched forums and there does not seem to be any clear answers on this topic.Today I have an older surround setup containing one Playbar and 2 Play 1s. I’m looking into making my home smart and have been leaning towards Apple HomeKit.  I would like to know before I buy two new Sonos One to make my surround setup compatible, if it will work with apple HomeKit or not? If not, are there any way to make it work correctly? For example keeping my play 1s in the surround and buying 1 Sonos One to get AirPlay to work? I’m very confused and cannot figure out the correct way to make this work.  Or am I just better of going for Google’s smart home platform even though I only have apple products at home.  Also will Siri work with the Sonos One which I will place in my livingroom for communication and HomePods placed in different locations in the house.

Hi,Since a week Google Assistant does not want to play my music from spotify via the command "Hey Google". Each time it tells me: "I can't play this content on this device but you can play it on another device" (I’ve a Chromecast).I can however send the music from the spotify app or via my laptop.Spotify premium is well present in the sonos app. Sonos is well taken over in the Google Home app.I have re-authorized spotify on both apps but no change...I can't identify the source of the problem? Do you have an idea?Many Thanks.Benoit. 

We have used the Sonos skill on our Sonos One for the last year or so and generally it works well.Lately I have had to disable and re-enable the skill every month or so to keep it working.Now it does not work at all, even removing the Alexa voice command, disabling the skill, re-enabling the voice command and re-enabling the Sonos Skill will not get music playing reliably.It works for one song and then just stops.  Skip does not work.This is a skill we use *every* day and it is hugely annoying that it no longer works.It does not appear that the skill has been updated in years, can someone PLEASE sort it out?I have run through all the troubleshooting, including checking for system updates on our Sonos environment … we have made considerable investment in Sonos equipment over the years.Thanks,John.

I've recently moved my Sonos One in a location where I want to use it more with voice commands and I'm finding an issue with using the Google Assistant and YouTube Music.   I give the assistant a command to play a genre of music or a specific command and it responds accordingly; "Playing you song from YouTube Music".However, after the assistant responds the affirmative that it will play the music, nothing is ever played. I can use the Sonos app to play music without issues but this isn't the point.  Also, if family members expect to use the speaker, they will only have access to it through voice commands since they do not have (or want) the Sonos app on their devices.Anyone else having similar issues or ideas for things to try?

I have setup a couple of the Sonos Amp and a Sonos Soundbar throughout my house. When I setup the Sonos skill in Alexa I can see my soundbar but not the amps in the Amazon devices. How can I get Alexa to see the Amps so I can ask Alexa to play music from Amazon Music to a specific Amp?Thanks.Joel 

I would like to be able to set my Sonos device with Google Home in Portugal, but this service is not currently available in my country. May I know why?As you know, it´s an essencial feature to spread the music through various speakers!!!

Can someone else confirm that they are able to play their own custom playlists on Apple Music using the Sonos Voice Assistant?For some reason, it keeps telling me to setup Amazon Music when I try to play one of my custom playlists on Apple Music (which have the exact same names as the custom playlists I had on Amazon Music which I’m no longer using).So either the Sonos Voice Assistant can’t play custom playlists from Apple Music (which would be weird) or the Sonos Voice Assistant is remembering (caching) that I previously used Amazon Music and is stuck somehow using that (even though I’ve removed it as a music service). Yet when I ask the Sonos Assistant to just generally “play Elton John”, it does so using Apple Music without any problems. So it’s just an issue when trying to play a custom playlist.

I’ve seen tons of complaints on here about the Google Assistant voice being too loud. We had the opposite problem, it was too soft. I mentioned this to my wife yesterday and she sensibly said “just tell the Assistant what you want it to do”.We have determined that this seems to work, addressing the Sonos:“Hey Google, make your voice volume lower” “Hey Google, make your voice volume louder”.On quick experimentation, the voice seems to have four or five volume level settings (it’s hard to discern this at the loudest end).  You can only go up or down by one level at a time. (At the loudest level, I tried “Set your voice volume level three levels lower” and it didn’t understand.)I don’t know if this will also work to adjust volume for alarm tones. It does seem to work for the ‘acknowledgement tone’ that we have turned on.  This is all running on a Sonos Beam.Hopefully not a fluke for us and works for others too. [Maybe this is not technically a question - How about we count the question as

Recently I moved one of my Sonos devices to my office. I still have two SonosOnes and a Move at home. The problem is Alexa - “she” loses most music-related functionality when I move between networks. Alexa will respond to voice prompt and do things internal like tell the time or weather. However, she no longer will pause/play/stop or adjust volume, and when I ask to play Spotify she says “OK, playing ____ from Spotify”, but no music. If I delete and restore the Sonos Skill in the Alexa app it then works, but the _OTHER_ network now has the problem. I can still play on the Sonos using Airplay from my iPhone without problems, so the issue appears to be specific to Alexa. Any ideas? Resetting the Sonos Skill twice a day is not a great solution...

HiHow can I connect my Sonos Beam and the Philips Hue Sync Box so that the sound of the TV comes from Sonos while the Hue light bulps controlled by the Hue Sync Box synchronizes with the picture of the TV? I don’t care about music coming from streaming services like Spotify to sync with the Hue Sync Box. Just want to have the TV picture to be in sync with the Hue lamps. Thanks

Hi,I have gone through the previous messages. This topic seems to have got CLOSED by the moderator with out being addressed.We have ALEXA already doing well in the UAE. It is time that Sonos brings it out. We are all disappointed as we are not able to make good use of alexa and sonos combination. The purpose of upgreading the systems is going in vain.i have been writing to sonos care in twitter also. but no reply. Hi, I moved house recently and had to set everything up from scratch again.  Everything is now working fine apart from the fact that I cannot for the life of me get Alexa to play anything from BBC Sounds on my sonos speakers. I’m using 2 Play 1’s and a Soundbar with two Echo Dots. For the purposes of this particular problem I’m talking about my kitchen Exho Dot and my Kitchen Sonos Play 1.I can play from Spotify to sonos using alexa commands ‘Alexa play Madonna on Kitchen’. No problem, Madonna plays on my kitchen sonos. I can play BBC Sounds content via the sonos app.  I can play other services fine eg ‘Alexa play Absolute radio on kitchen’. Or‘Alexa play from Audible on kitchen’.No problem with any of this. But I cannot get alexa to pass a BBC Sounds command through to sonos. Command: ‘alexa, ask BBC Sounds to play radio 4 on kitchen’ Response: ‘playing the kitchen cabinet from 27th of august 2022’. Hi I have a weird issue. For years I have been able to turn on/off my LG TV through voice command using google assistant on my Sonos One. Suddenly this has stopped working, and the google assistant in Sonos says “Sorry unknown error has occured on [name of my chromecast]” (this error might not be precise, I have translated it from my native language).I am able to for example pause/unpause the chromecast using voice command.If if say the exact same turn on/off command using the Assistant app on my phone the TV turns on/off.I have tried unlinking/removing my assistant both in Google Home app, and in the Sonos. Linked it again, and went through the setup process, but the same error occurs. I have also tried renaming my Chromecast (found that advice in a similar thread), but same result.Both my Sonos One and Chromecast has newest firmware.If i go to https://myactivity.google.com/ I can't even see any of my Sonos one commands. 

Hi, My sonos beam keep saying "your Spotify account needs to be linked first" even though it is linked on google assistant/google home.  My beam worked just fine with Spotify, but for some reason suddenly stopped and keep throwing this error.  When I use Sonos app on my phone and click Spotify and play music on the app, it will still play though. Only when I am trying to play Spotify using voice command, it won’t work. (when I ask Sonos to play music on youtube, my other music provider, it will play through the voice command though)  When I use my google assistant with my mobile device and ask it to play Spotify, it will play so it’s not a google assistant issue.  Could you please check if there’s a way to fix it? i’ve linked and unlinked Spotify on google assistant, uninstalled and installed all relevant app (google home, assistant, Spotify, Sonos...) Thanks  

I used to be able to start radio 4 with the voice command "OK Google, play BBC Radio 4" now this just leads to Sonos playing Radio 4 Extra. Has any one else seen this to know how to fix it?
