Voice control and smart home

I have several Sonos devices across my apartment (Play1s,Play5s, Connect:Amp, ZP100) and also several google devices (Pixel Phone, 2 Alarms, Google Hub)All Google devices work properly in  playing spotify or streaming radio on any Sonos Device.EXCEPT my GoogleHub where I love to have my radio streamed with my first coffee and its driving my crazy. Early in the morning I do not want to fumble around my phone for the app but use the convenience of voice commands.That's where I get the "This”mode is not available on <Sonos Device Name>” while the GoogleHub shows me the Sonos controls on the screen (which does work btw).Already checked country settings, spotify accounts (it's also TuneIn btw), re-connected all services.Any ideas ?

Has anyone had any luck with this?  Everything works as it should except the alexa functionality.

When I say “hey google” on my Sonos Arc, it is not aware of the timers I set on other Google Home/Home Mini devices (even though the Google devices themselves are aware of timers you set on others).  There isn’t an issue with linking accounts. I am surprised.  I also noticed commands like “hey Google turn off the TV” which normally works on a Google Home Mini responds with an error on Sonos (oddly enough I can do most other things via Sonos Google Assistant like turning lights on/off). 

Hi,I’m trying to setup Google Assistant on my account but always ends up with this message after being redirected to login to my Sonos account/setup:and my system is fully updated - any advise to get through this? Br. Lasse

I purchased the Sonos One SL two years ago for my sister who has since passed away.  I’m going gift it to my neighbors and need to find some documentation to point them to.  I’ve checked the online manual for the One SL and it makes no mention of the built-in Alexa feature.  Is there another version of the document that I’m missing?  TIA

My sonos roam can connect to the em internet and app fine. It also can respond via Alexa or Sonos voice, changing volume etc. However it does not start streaming anything. The only way to start music or play the news is manually via the app.It used to work before I set up a new mesh wifi router.please can someone help

I have an Echo+ in my Kitchen and a Beam in my front room. Anytime I asked the Echo+ to play music it defaults to playing on my Beam. It used to be intermittent but happens every time now. It's the same for both Radio & Spotify 

I’m using Sonos Voice Assistant with Amazon Music. A few days ago, it suddenly stopped working. Almost any content I request gets denied. For instance, I say “Hey Sonos, play Michael Jackson”. Unfortunately, the answer is (almost?) always “Sorry, your Amazon Music subscription does not allow you to play this content.”. I don’t have Amazon Music Unlimited, but Prime Music. It used to work just fine. Furthermore, it does still work if I choose the same content via the Sonos app or the Amazon Music app. Thus, I guess this is an issue with the Sonos Voice Assistant. Maybe it got something to do with the latest changes for Amazon Music, which increased the number of available songs from 2M to 100M I think? I already removed the Amazon Music service from the Sonos app and re-added it. Didn’t change anything.

The integration between Sonos and Amazon can sometimes throw up annoying, confusing and sometimes completely random issues.  A very large proportion of these issues can be resolved by some very simple tasks.  These have been documented across multiple posts and have remained fairly consistent since the functionality was released.  However, some of my earlier posts are now obsolete due to changes within the navigation and terminology of both the Sonos and Alexa Apps.  As a result, I have compiled an updated set of steps to help users resolve the most common issues.  However, before we start please don’t get phased by the scale of the steps below, they are not all required!  I have tried to list these with the most common and easiest solutions first building to a complete reset.  But before we start, if you are experiencing issues with Alexa, then please check for any outages on this page first:

Hi all!My Sonos One arrived yesterday, haven’t unpacked it yet. I live in Croatia, Europe and google assistant is not supported on Sonos. I will change my Sonos profile to USA or UK. Will it work? Yes or No? Also, I get that google and alexa is not supported everywhere but why does Sonos voice control not work around the globe? It should not be region restricted.Neven

I know there are tons of topics and megathreads explaining how to control your Sonos system using an Amazon speaker/Alexa however they all seem fragmented with different procedures and troubleshooting steps and are daunting to try and get through. I wanted to detail out the method that finally worked for me (and that Sonos Tier 1 tech support never reviewed with me).I am a custom integrator and at some point I found out that some of my customer’s Sonos systems no longer worked in conjunction with an Amazon speaker that had previously worked just fine. For example saying “Alexa, play some holiday music” to an Echo Dot with holiday music following in the associated Sonos zone...this stopped working at some point. This was no good as they had adapted to this simple method of playing music through their Sonos systems by simply telling it to.I am not referring to setting up Alexa on an Alexa-enabled Sonos speaker w/ a built-in mic (ARC, BEAM, ONE) as that seems very stab

Google assistant doesn’t work very well on my Sonos ARC (not very responsive and most of the time there is no answer).  A friend of mine said the same thing and then he moved to Alexa and said it worked much better.  Google works a lot better on my dedicated Google Home.  I guess the bonus of using Alexa is that you can also use the Sonos voice assistant at the same time.Not sure I want the hassle but has anyone experienced that Alexa integration on Sonos is much better?

Hello there,Until now, I was using a Google Nest Mini speaker to control my lights and plugs connected to my home.I recently got a Sonos Beam and I set up the google assistant.With the Nest Mini, in the application, when it was located in the same room as the connected plugs and lights, when turning on or off, there was a simple "ding or dong". With the Beam, even if it's in the same room, I still get a confirmation like, "Okay, I turn on the light..."Is there any way WITHOUT GOING THROUGH THE ROUTINES, to have a simple ding / dong?Thanks for your help

Can anyone help with this issue - on Sonos 1, I have installed Alexa and enabled the skills via alexa - but no BBC station will pay after the initial “BBC sounds” announcement…. I have installed……deleted, re enables, … rebooted and disabled and then re enabled the skill but to no avail…… and also……. Alexa won’t play any music at all ……..any help or assistance would be greatly appreciated…….

As described extensively in this thread, multiple users have reported the consistent need to ask Alexa (or Google Assistant) twice to play music on Sonos from Spotify.  This appears to be related to an erroneous stream limit error from Spotify that is not being handled correctly by Sonos.   A fix was apparently released for S2 systems in 2021 that resolved the issue for S2 systems, but the issue remains unresolved S1 systems.  I suspect most S1 users have either given up on Spotify, Sonos, or both at this point.As described in the above-linked thread, this problem can be replicated as follows (including on my own system):When issuing a voice command to Sonos in any room I have the following situation:If SONOS is playing or has recently played via voice command: No problem; music will play pro

Have new Roam and enabled the Alexa Skill successfully and Alexa commands work beautifully.  Should the Sonos Commands like “Sonos Play Music” still work?

Is there a way to use google assistant or alexa rather than Sonos voice. I only have one option to select a voice assistant and it is Sonos own voice assistant. I want to load alexa up or Google assistant? I used to have Google assistant on my Sonos but wanted to change it over to alexa and now I cant load any other assistant. Any info to get it working again

Hi i just paired my new sonos Roam with android phone but i can't pair google assistant. It does not appear among voice assistants...there is only "Sonos Voice Control".is it available in Italy?  

Hello, I just got my 2 Sonos Move speakers and I have been trying to get Alexa to work on them but no luck so far. As the title suggests both apps of Alexa and Sonos say that it is not available in my country, being The Netherlands. I know that Sonos officials are not permitted to point us in other solutions however if anyone knows of a solution to this one I would gladly listen to them. So far I have been using Google Assistant but I would really prefer if I got Alexa to work on these. Thank you in advance for your help.

Awaiting a Port to arrive and I am wondering if anyone has experience with the port and Meridian gear? I would like to know the following.A will the port accept and fully control its output directly from the music app using airplay 2 without opening the Sonos app. If the answer to A is yes. Does it locally control the actual volume in meridian versus digital attenuation? Mod Edit: Corrected typo

I had amazon alexa linked and working with my sonos one. Used it primarily to play spotify. At some point the announcement feature did not anymore work. I have sonos one, sonos one sl and beam gen 2 connected to my sonos network and s2 app. for that reason i disconnected voice assistant services for alexa to try repair. Now when i try to add alexa voica assistant, i can’t find it in the list of available voice assistants in sonos app - services and voice - add a voice assistant. It only lists sonos voice control. Also google assistant does not appear on the list. i followed many different advices from disabling alexa skilla, logging out and taking power off from my sonos devices without success. Any suggestions what could be the problem.

Can any Alexa assistant controls the ARC SL ?

Paired Sonos Ones in our kitchen to replace Alexa Echo.   Not when requesting music via Alexa on the Sonos, the volume is a”all over the place”.   Often starts very low or not at all, then jumps back to normal volume after 1 to 2 minute delay.   Removed and reinstalled Alexa Skill, but same problem.   Very annoying.   Just want Alexa request songs to play a normal volume and not eratic behavior.   Ideas? Moderator Notes: Edited Original post, so that it doesn’t look like it’s been replied.
