Voice control and smart home

Current setup: Harmony Elite remote (and associated Hub), Sonos Connect, Yamaha RX-A760 A/V receiver amplifying (playing to) non-Sonos speakers & subwoofer, Amazon Echo, & other devices not related to this issue (ie. LG OLED65B6P TV, Samsung Blu-ray player, Apple TV 4K, Wink Hub 2, Philips Hue Hub 2, Orbi router, Rasberri Pi, Google Chromecast). On the Harmony Elite I have an activity named “Sonos”. I have another activity named “DirecTv Now”, and another named “Blu-ray”, etc. etc. I have the Harmony skill as well as the Sonos skill enabled in the Echo app. When I say “Alexa, turn on DirecTv Now”, Echo (Alexa) triggers the Harmony Elite and starts the “DirecTV Now” activity (LG TV: power on, LG TV: input HDMI 1, Yamaha A/V receiver: Power On, Yamaha A/V receiver: input HDMI 1 (Apple TV). The system is now ready to use the “DirecTv Now” activity on the Harmony remote (DirecTv Now app is provided from the Apple TV). If I then say “Alexa, volume up” the Harmony remote is again triggered

Apologies if this has been asked elsewhere. Although Alexa recognises the command 'Shuffle PLAYLIST playlist in ROOMNAME' it doesn't actually shuffle the playlist; it just plays in sequential order. I'm not sure of the benefit of being able to ask Alexa to play Spotify playlists if you just keep hearing the same song every time and have to use your phone to turn shuffle on anyway. Does this work for anyone else ?

Weird scenario on my Beam - I have a 'night' routine set up on Alexa. When I request it on my Beam the response is that the device does not support that function, and then it duly executes the routine (turning off all lights in the house) - strange. I get the feeling this is a bug. Am I correct or is there something else going on that I should know about?

I'm using Spotify with Alexa on my pair of Sonos Ones. It used to be that when I asked Alexa to play a song, she'd play the song I requested and then stop. But now (as of a few months ago), after playing the song I requested, she goes on to play other random stuff. I don't really like this. Is there a way to get the old behavior back?

I’ve a beam grouped in sonos app with 2 ones for surround. In Alexa app, the beam group is displayed as a speaker named as my sonos room name (salotto) and, if I click on it, I can see the beam device name as another hierarchically related device (marco’s Sonos Beam). When I try to add ‘salotto’ to an Alexa group (as an Alexa enabled device) and I click on ‘save’ button, the button is grayed out but nothing happens and the beam is not added to the group. What can I do?

I have 7 Sonos dotted around my house. I enjoy the music filling the house so generally have "Play Everywhere" set, have all speakers in the same group and simple adjust the volumne as required (including muting rooms where I don't want music). I want the Sonos in the toilet to turn on when I enter the bathroom and turn off when I leave afterwards. If other speakers are playing then I would like the toilet speaker to simply "unmute" and then "mute" again, joining the music in the rest of the house. If other speakers are not playing the I would like JUST the toilet speaker to "play" and then "pause" (I don't want other speakers to emmit sounds). - The logic is simple however I need to know whether the other speakers are playing or not. - And I need to have the ability, based on this info, to either "Play/Pause" the toilet speaker or "Unpause/Pause" JUST the Toilet speaker Does Sonos API share this information And what tool would allow me to control it? My wife tried to play the Man from Uncle Soundtrack via Echo integration with Sonos. It appears to have kicked off correctly since when I go into the Sonos app it pops up the the message that is attached. Any thoughts?

Why wont Alexa play my music everywhere, when I've set up a group called "Everywhere" and tell Alexa "Alexa, play Classic Rock Everywhere".

Hello community I have: 1 x One w. Alexa in the kitchen. 2 x Play 1's and a Playbar in living room, and 2 x Play 1s and 1 x Connect in dining room. I have installed an Echo Dot in living room, and synced so it can play the radio and Spotify through my speakers. Great. However, now the Sonos One in the kitchen is not connecting to services like Spotify or TuneIn Radio. So, when asked to "play radio", it tells me "sorry, that device is offline'". Or, when asked to "play a song from Spotify" it tells me to "link to Spotify in your premium account". Im stumped. I want to keep the set up but also want to be able to instruct Alexa to play radio when cooking in the kitchen for example. Alexa still works and it can tell me the weather forecast for example, but I can't figure out how to get Spotify and TuneIn linked to the kitchen speaker, while keeping the same set up on the Echo Dot in the living room. Can any kind soul in the community help....? Thanks John

Hi I’ve just set up a pair of play 5’s (room 1) and a Sonos one (Room 2) but grouped the 3 (they’re all in same large room). I can now get Alexa to play music from Amazon on all 3 speakers when asked. However if I ask Alexa to turn down volume on room 1 (or all) it only works on the Sonos one. Anyway it can adjust volume for the pair of 5’s too? Thanks

I've set up two Sonos Ones in the house for our kids. Each speaker is linked to the same Sonos household account, so both show up in our list of household Sonos speakers (we have several). Each speaker is uniquely named. Each speaker is also linked to a separate Alexa account (each Alexa account is an adult-family share Amazon account), and each Alexa account is linked to its own Spotify account (each Spotify account is also a family share account). One Sonos One works perfectly with Spotify. The other doesn't. It will start playing a song, but it won't respond to any music commands after a song starts. But it will respond to other Alexa commands. So, once a song starts, you can only stop it by, for example, telling alexa to set a 5-minute timer to stop the music, but "Alexa, pause/stop music" doesn't work. Neither does "Next song." Both speakers are set up exactly the same way, other than the accounts. Both speakers are brand new. I've factory reset both speakers several times a

As others have posted, executing Alexa routines on Sonos One works but you will get the message saying audio activity currently not available on this device. Well, I decided to call Sonos support for assistance and was told #Alexa routines are not supported on #SonosOne and that they had NO ANSWER for why it was working prior but now still working while receiving the error message. Seeing that it WAS working without receiving the message a few days ago and that the routines were actually being executed, I decided to dig more into it myself. I was able to resolve the issue by NO longer using routines but instead, creating device groups on Alexa and then using commands like "Alexa, turn off living room" to turn off smart plugs in the living room group. To add to the frustration, I replied to Sonos support email letting them know that their own webpage showed that Alexa smart home devices could be controlled via SonosOne. I have a Beam, (Alexa), Sub and 2 plays in the lounge and a One in the kitchen the Alexa is stating my devices are Offline. It did all work OK until under warranty I replaced kitchen speaker. Kitchen works fine to commands, Beam now doesn't find Music Devices, Deezer, Tunein etc. If I physically link the two its ok. Works OK on TV. I've checked obvious settings. Any advice appreciated.

Not sure if it is a coincidence. I have a pair of Play 5 set as preferred speaker in the living room group. "Play music" would start Spotify and play on the Sonos. But since today Alexa responds with "something went wrong". When I set the Echo (Show) as default speaker it works again, switching back to Sonos (Play 5 and/or Beam) is will result in an error again. I disabled and enabled the Sonos skill, no luck. Anyone else seeing this? Could it be the update, or is that only controller related? Any tips how to trouble shoot?

Please sonos team, add the possibility to enable Alexa on the surround speaker. I bought 2 x Ones instead of Play:1 for this!

New Sonos One says “sorry I am having trouble understanding right now, try a little later” and does not let me set my voice up in Alexa app

I have just upgraded my Play 1 to a new play 1 with Alexa. so I can control and play music via the Sonos app and love how I can now use Airplay to control so don’t have to use Sonos player app. However How do I get Alexa to link to my Apple Music so I can do voice controls? It’s driving me mad.

I noticed in a few reviews that the One and Play:1 cannot be used in stereo pairs. Can one of each of the Play:1 and One speakers be set up as surround speakers for the Playbase?

Is there a way to turn off the sound that plays after you say Alexa. I have several Sonos One’s so it is incredibly annoying to hear that sound coming at me from multiple rooms. I was able to turn it off on my Echo devices but I haven’t found a way to do so on the Sonos One.

Does the new amp have Alexa built in? I have a beam but understand that I am rendering that virtually useless if I connect two wired speakers to the amp and HDMI Arc to my TV.

i have Audible as a Service. on the Sonos App i can search and find my book and have it played. But if i command Alexa to Read my Audible Book, i get in reply "I'm having trouble getting your audible books"

When I give Alexa a command on my Sonos One, for example "Alexa, Good Morning" she says "Audio actions are not currently supported on this device" but then strangely she carries out the associated action correctly, turning the lights on or off as expected. Has anyone else got this issue?

I have a SONOS One in Winnipeg, Canada. So, I had to set it up using Amazon.com (US). Worked great until yesterday. I opened Alexa (Amazon.com) to check my skills, and the app suddenly flipped to Amazon.ca and asked me to login. I logged in and it opened Alexa, normally. When I clicked on Skills, the app popped open with a a message saying: The language you selected does not match your Amazon account settings. As a result, Alexa skills are not available. Please choose English (Canada) by selecting "Continue" below. It pops open to Settings instead of Skills. My Location is set as Grand Forks, ND which is my timezone, as it doesn't offer to select Canada. So, now, I need some help to figure this out please! Thank You!

I have been having some difficulty getting all of these to work together. I initially wanted to ditch the harmony hub and remote and control everything through the beam + alexa using the HDMI ARC port, but the sonos was only able to turn my tv on. Everytime I asked alexa to turn off the tv she says "ok," but nothing ever happens. Prior to setting up the beam, I had this working no problem with alexa and the harmony hub. I was able to turn the tv on and off without any issues. Now, I am completely unable to turn off the tv using alexa. I am trying to get alexa to ignore turning the tv on and off using HDMI ARC, but I cant seem to figure it out. I have an LG tv and if I turn off simplink the auido out to the beam no longer works. I might just have to reset the beam, get it to work with my echo again, and then try setting up the beam from scratch. Any suggestions?

Does anyone know if you can connect an Alexa dot using the eithernet jack on the Sonos play 1
