Voice control and smart home

Hello, I have a Sonos Beam (Alexa built-in) and a Ring Video Door Bell at Home. I have added the Sonos and Ring Skills, and Alexa can see my Ring Video Door Bell as : a) a Camera and b) a "Motion Sensor", which is perfectly fine. I understand that Ring Skills (for video) work only for Echo Show or Fire TV, so I am trying to use the "Motion Sensor" capability of my Ring Doorbell via an Alexa Routine like follows: 1) WHEN "device" (ring doorbell motion sensor) DETECTED MOVEMENT THEN Alex Say "Intruder" But when trying to create the Routine, the save will fail because Alexa couldn't find any audio device. How is that possible if Alexa lives "inside" de "Audio Device" SONOS BEAM? Any help will be appreciated! Thanks

No matter what I ask Alexa, she can’t find it on Apple Music. If I open up the Sonos app, I can play anything there manually through Apple Music but it doesn’t work with voice commands! i’ve signed out of the skill and back in and I’ve signed out of all Alexa and Amazon accounts and back in but all to no luck. any suggestions as what could be wrong? thanks!

I've been trying to get Google voice services set up on my Beam (living room) and One (bedroom). For whatever reason, the Google Assistant app can find my One in the bedroom, but it can't find my Beam in the living room. When switching back to Alexa, it finds both speakers in both rooms just fine. I read somewhere that having a Google Home in the same room as one of these Sonos speakers might affect this. I did indeed have a Google Home in the same "room" as the Beam, but I have since changed that. Any idea what's going on? I tried on both my 5GHz and 2.4GHz networks and still no luck.

When I added two Sonos Ones to my existing Sonos-filled house last year, I was excited about Alexa integration. However, I disabled the Sonos skill within days because of the "Ducking all speakers" issue. My six Sonos speakers and Connect are unusable when linked to Alexa because of this real irritation to the entire household. I make no apology for again asking: "When will the 'all speakers ducking' issue be fixed?" Thanks.

I am using SmartThings and Webcore to automate a few things in my house. Before the latest firmware update I was able to use the status of my Sonos speakers in Webcore (eg "backyard switch is on") so that I could change the color of some interior lights (to remind me that music is on outside) and keep the smartlock on the door from automatically locking (we go in and out a lot to keep up with the demands of our 2 year old son). Sounds like the firmware update broke SmartThings/WebCore's ability to work with Sonos. I read that Sonos decided to change the xml schema in the zone data, which prevents SmartThings from identifying groups and players properly. Is there anyway I can downgrade firmware so that everything works again? I have no plans on using Google Assistant so Im ok losing "features" if this is possible. Thanks in advance!

Hello, I have 4 Sonos One speakers setup in a group and I am using Google Assistant and Pandora to play music. I say "Hey, Google, Turn up the volume" and the speaker that seems to be closest to me increases but none of the other speakers in the group increases. I would like to have the entire group of speakers volume increase with GA voice control not just one speaker. I can't seem to find a way to make this work and change the volume all speaker in a group with a single command . I constantly need to go to my Sonos App and use the volume sliders to re-sync the volume levels so they are all the same again. The other option would be to go to all 4 rooms separately and have GA increase the volume separately. Thanks!

Hi, I'm new to the community. Just bought an Sonos one and activated Alexa on it. But it seems to be a delay when I ask her to change volume. It takes about 2-4 sec before she changes the volume. I've tried to reset the sonos and reinstall it but no luck.

Hi there, I'm a new Sonos user with a Sonos One and have encountered strange behavior with Alexa when trying to run routines. I currently have a routine set up via the Alexa app which runs when I say "Alexa, good morning" - it turns on the lights in my living room, gives me the weather and my calendar for the day. When I say "Good morning" to Alexa on Sonos One, the following actions occur: - The lights in my living room turn on - She says "Audio actions in routines are currently not supported on this device" - She tells me the weather - She gives me my calendar entries for the day I have read in previous threads that routines are not supported on Sonos One, but clearly, as we can see above, Alexa is able to run my routine it in its entirety. Why am I still getting this error even when it seems to run perfectly? Any ideas? Thanks 😃

Hi I use 2no play 1 and a play 5. All in separate rooms and I think they are excellent. Recently, I purchased a nest stat and hello door bell to which I received a free google mini. This opened me to the world of voice assistants as I wasn’t ready yet to upgrade to the One or the Beam. I use Apple Music as my steaming service of choice and understand that the google assistant has just been introduced to Sonos in the uk. I have connected my system to the google home app and my speakers appear within each room. I understand that Apple Music is not yet supported through google home (although it is in the assistant) but other streaming services like Spotify are. However I noticed that you can only set google play or YouTube as the default music service. Now I’m not too fussed about selecting music service through an assistant as I quite like the sonos app and seeing what music to play, I think it would be a nuisance to try and remember every artist or song I wanted to play to try and

So after growing tired of waiting for a software update from Bose to use Airplay 2 on their SoundTouch series I finally decided to initiate a move to Sonos (it always bugged me that Sonos doesn't offer Bluetooth, hence the wait). To the point, got the speaker to show up fine in HomeKit. Was very excited about this... only to find out that it's just a useless icon! I can't turn the power on/off (which I can do with the old Bose ST10 via Homebridge. Not optimal, but it does work), and no volume control. Have to say that this was disappointing. As it is now the Sonos ONE speaker is just an icon in HomeKit, it can't really do anything. Use case for power on/off... I have an automation that turns off all the lights in my home when I leave (geofencing), would be great if it could turn off the speaker as well. Are there any plans on making the HomeKit integration actually serve any useful purpose in the near future?

I have downloaded 10.2 and configured my Sonos system for Google Assistant. I have 4 Sonos Amps and 5 Sonos Beams+Ones+SUBs. I have 9 Home Hubs and 6 Minis. Some early observations for which I would appreciate feedback/confirmation from Sonos Support: * Only rooms that have a Sonos Beam or Ones can be directly paired with Google Assistant. My Sonos Amps do not appear to be controlled by GA (e.g. using a Home Hub or Mini as a "microphone" for a Sonos Amp). * Related, none of my Sonos speakers appear as targets within Google Home to which you could map "default speaker". For example, map a Home Hub to a Sonos room as the default speaker. * I have configured Google Music (for which I have a premium subscription) as the default service. But every time I ask Google to "Play [artist or song]", the Sonos responds saying "I can't do that here but you can ask me to play it on one of your other devices." * In Google Home, there is a Sonos TV Control for each Sonos room including

I want to get a Sonos One but I'm confused how it works with multiple people. From what I gather it's possible to log in with our different Spotify accounts so that's OK. But what about the Alexa part and voice control? First of all is it possible for multiple people to use the voice commands? And if so, my issue is, Amazon household seems to only allow 2 adults which is ridiculous because my oldest son who still lives at home is 18 and so he's an adult. So as it stands now, I can add my husband and my two younger kids but my oldest is just stuck in no man's land? Can someone explain like they're talking to a 5 year old how this all works? It seems pointless to get one if I'm the only one who can use it. Thanks.

I set up two Ones in the bedroom and said "Alexa play flash briefing" and Alexa responds with "here is your flash briefing" and then nothing happens (silence). This has happened about 50% of the time. Meaning it plays sometimes. I just got these and am debating between using two play1's and an Echo Dot. I want to use whatever will have the least amount of problems. The cons of using the Dot aren't a big deal to me (flash briefing on the dot).

It is just embarrassing that a company of the size of Sonos is incapable of delivering a damn voice assistant integration. Something dozens of other manufacturers, way smaller than Sonos, already managed OVER A YEAR AGO. Sonos charges more for their product, yet is not capable to actually giving us a reliable timeline. They are not giving us updates since November (and that demo in January) and literally treat their customers the worst. By the time they roll out Google Assistant I hope most people have moved on from this incapable brand. At least their share price reflects their commitment.

Hi there, Just playing around with the new Alexa integration - I have Play 1's dotted around the house, and a Playbar / 2 x Play 1 surround setup in my living room connected to the TV. No problems on the single Play 1's dotted around but have a problem with the TV surround. Normally the source input would be 'TV' and would play the sound from there, and when I say 'Alexa play *band name* in the living room' it happily switches to music from my Amazon Music account. All good so far. However when I say 'Alexa stop music in the living room' it stops the song, but leaves the song it was playing as the source input, so I cannot switch back to the TV volume without physically selecting it in the Sonos app. This obviously defeats the purpose of voice command control. Is there a specific command I should use or something I can do to rectify this using a voice command? Thanks in advance.

This question was asked a couple times a few months ago by others, but since I didn't see a response from anyone at Sonos, I thought I'd try again. When I ask Sonos to play a song (via Spotify) it plays the song and then it keeps playing other songs by other artists. In other words, even though I've disabled "Autoplay" in the Spotify app, the end result is the same as if Autoplay is enabled. When I ask my Echo Dot to play a song, it only plays the one song, which seems to indicate the problem is on Sonos's end--not Alexa. I even tried adding the Echo Dot to my Sonos "Living Room" group in the Alexa app and using the Sonos as the Preferred Speaker. But even this doesn't work -- the Echo Dot correctly plays the music on the Sonos, but with Autoplay enabled. Is this a recognized bug, and does Sonos have any plans to fix it? Thank you.

Looking for a bit of help or guidance. I have multiple Sonos speakers, Alexa Devices and Alexa enabled devices. If I ask any of these devices to play a playlist from Spotify, nothing happens. Alexa acknowledges the request, it sounds like it works, but no music starts. This all started within the last week. I’ve reset all my devices, delinked and linked Spotify through Sonos, delinked and linked Sonos and Spotify through Alexa. Asking to play a song or an artist works fine. Any ideas?

Hi, since yesterday Google Assistant is finally available in the UK. I have some speakers in the UK and others at my place in Spain. I only use one Sonos account registered in the UK. My Google account is also registered in the UK. However, when I try to use GA as a voice service, it tells me "not available in your country". I am currently in Spain, but that shouldn't make any difference as all my system is registered in the UK. Tried using a VPN but that doesn't work either. Alexa works fine with all speakers. Any help would be appreciated.

I have a Sonos Beam connected to a Sony TV by HDMI3 (ARC). Both are connected to the internet by ethernet cable using an unmanaged switch. When I ask Alexa to turn on the living room TV she fails to do so and says that living room tv is not responding. However, once the TV is turned on, then Alexa will respond to all the usual commands such as changing channel, changing input to HDMI2 or turning the set off. I think I have got all the settings right, but has anyone else experienced this and, if so, what is the solution?

I am aware you cannot change the Alexa wake word but can you change the google one?

So after finally supporting Google assistant I find that I've got a further wait ahead of me 'cause I don't live in the states. Great job yet again Sonos.
