Voice control and smart home

Hi everyone,  Has anyone had any experience of successfully setting up a Beam AND a Hue Sync Box on one HDMI CEC/ARC output? I have a Beam connected to my LG 43UH661V via the HDMI-CEC port on the back of the TV. As you know this gives me Alexa voice control to switch the TV on, off, etc. I want to keep this Alexa functionality (so using the optical port is out of the question) and add a Philips Hue Sync Box to the setup. The Sync Box also required an HDMI ARC or CEC connection but I only have one on the back the the tele.

Question about multiple rooms all using Spotify streams. When a Spotify stream is started, starting a Spotify stream via the app in another room cuts off the first room. The reverse also happens, playing a stream via App cuts off all Google launched streams.Why? This doesn’t happen if both rooms are started via the app - parallel streams work fine. The Spotify account is a Family Premium Account. The devices are all Sonos (Play 1, Beam and One).

The green mute light will not go off on my Sonos One speakers. The speakers are not operating.The sub and play bar are OK. Turned off/on the power to the Ones. When reconnected with the wi-fi, the light went white for just a second, then went back to green. ??????

Hello,  I have a mix of Sonos Ones, Moves, and a Beam.  My problem is that when I use a Sonos device to start playing news through Alexa with either “Play my Flash Briefing” or “Tell me the news” Alexa behaves erratically.  Usually it will start repeating the lead story three times.  And then the most annoying thing is when I say “Alexa stop” it will semi-mute for a second (indicating it heard me) and then just keep going.  And we’ve tried all the variations of Pause, Stop Playing the News, etc.  What does work is if we ask Alexa to play music and then the system will do that and then we can stop the music via voice.  Obviously the button on the speaker works too.  We use the NPR skills on Echo.  I know it’s tempting to blame the skill but this skill works flawlessly on the Amazon Echo speaker we have.  It is just the Sonos devices that don’t work.  I spoke with Sonos tech help on the phone and they acknowledged the problem but I’ve received no follow-up. Since S2, I no longer seem to be able to say Play BBC Radion 2 in the office.  Google replies with “OK, BBC Radio 2 from TuneIn. Playing on Office” followed immediately by “Sorry, I can't find what you asked for”  If I say “Play some Queen in the office” I get “Playing the album Greatest Hits on Spotify…” and that works fine.  Playing Tunein from the app also works OK.

I was about to pull the trigger on about $12k to wire whole home audio, with Amps powering a bunch of in-wall/ceiling speakers + ARC/Sub combo in the family room. The idea was to have multiple zones in the house, but also create groups for multi-room audio controlled by Google Assistant. We’re an android house with Google Assistant powering our smart home ecosystem. Is there a way for me to get Google Assistant to play audio across multiple zones using voice control?   If not possible with Sonos, any idea on how to achieve this?

Hi guys!I’ve started having issues with my Beam since customer support told me to reset it after an interference noise kept happening.Alexa had been working fine, everything looks good on both Sonos, Spotify and Alexa apps but when I ask Alexa to ‘Play Rage Against The Machine’ for example, she says ‘Now playing Rage Against The Machine from Spotify’ and then silence.Same happens if I ask for a radio station.I've done a bit of digging on here and tried all the unlinking accounts, deleting apps etc but no joy. Alexa will still turn on the lightswhen asked, TV sound and PS4 sound is fine, just no music.I’m pulling out what’s left of my hair and Sonos customer support aren’t replying now which is disappointing.Thanks so much 🙂

I’ve been having trouble with erratic responses from GA on Sonos for days, and now it’s completely broken! I eventually tried the last resort of unlinking and relinking my Sonos account to Google. Now I can’t activate Google Assistant on my Sonos speaker at all. Google sees the speaker just fine, and can play music to it. The Sonos app sees the speaker just fine, and can play music too it. But Google Assistant won’t link to it - Google Assistant just says that it couldn’t find the Sonos speaker, even though Google Home is playing music to it right now. Just as a test, I added Alexa instead. Installs quickly and works fine. The fault is between Sonos and Google. Returning to GA, I finally got it to find the Sonos speaker and install after about 25 tries. But it’s still not functional. It either gives no response or says “something went wrong/there was a glitch”. If I tell Google to resync devices, the Sonos speaker beeps and makes an announcement. But it quickly returns to unresponsive

Can the soundbar be plugged into the TV and still work with the hue lights via the Sync Box?  If not can the soundbar even be plugged into the Sync Box?

Hi Everyone, I have a few Sonos products in my home including the new Arc, however, I’m having trouble having Alexa turn on and off the TV. I have the arc plugged into the ARC HDMI and when I set my beam up it just automatically synced and worked.     Now if I ask Alexa to turn off the TV (basement) it turns off the Living Room TV that is connected by the beam.  But it won’t turn off or on the basement TV.  Otherwise everything works.  The TV is a vizio is that matters.  

Please help. I've been waiting for this, and now when Sonos controller tries to connect to Google Assistant, no devices are found. I have unplugged everything, restarted phone, tried several things and still not connecting to Google Assistant on my 2 Sonos Ones. What do I do? I have lost an hour and a half of my life on this! Ok and now I must have clicked some answered thing on this forum. This is not answered!! Fix this issue ASAP what a waste of time, Sonos!

Help! Google assistant works fine on my Sonos system for everything except music playback. Assistant music playback works fine on all other devices in the house, just not Sonos. Weather, general web enquiries all work fine, but here’s an example of the music problem: ”hey google, play Mumford and sons” ”Alright, playing Mumford and sons on YouTube music” ”sorry, I don’t know how to help with that”. or ”hey google, play bbc radio 4 on tunein radio” ”ok, playing BBC radio 4 on tunein” ”sorry, I don’t know how to help with that yet”. Already tried: Removing and re-adding assistant Removing and re-adding YouTube music powering off and on Sonos speakers powering off and on house router

Im wandering if anyone can help.   I have Alexa fully setup on my beam and ive got Apple Music added as a service in the alexa app (it shows a green ‘linked’ under settings). Its set as the default for both music and stations. Obviously, Apple Music has been added as a service in the sonos app as well.   Normally things work fine and i can say “Alexa play xyz” and it will beginning playing from Apple Music. However, very regularly and out of the blue it will just start playing from Amazon music or one of my other music services thats been added in the alexa app. I double check and Apple music is still set as default and whats weird is if i say specifically “play xyz on Apple music” then it will work.    Normally some combo of unlinking Apple music in Alexa and re-adding solves the issue but its happened today and nothing will resolve the problem. Google Assistant sleep sounds now work on my Sonos.  However, whenever the sleep sounds are about to end (1 hour I believe is the default), Google Assistant shouts out “SORRY, I DO NOT UNDERSTAND” or something to that affect.  Obviously not good, I’m asleep by this time only to get woke back up!

I’m having issues with the flash/news briefing in Alexa. I ask it to play the news, which works but if I ask it to stop, it won’t. Music stops, podcasts stop, radio stations stop but voice commands for news briefings won’t work. I have to physically  stop it in the app or touch the play/pause button on the speaker.  I have tried disabling/enabling the Sonos skill but this hasn’t fixed it. Any help would be appreciated.

My new Sonos Move arrived this morning. It's set up and playing music from the Sonos App however, Alexa Voice Control isn't working. Microphone on Sonos Move is on (light on), speaker has been discovered by the Alexa App, and I've disabled and re-enabled the Alexa Sonos Skill. Still not responding to voice control.

I recently bought the LG SL10Yg Soundbar and a Sonos connect. I already have two Sonos ones and a Sonos move I use throughout my house for my music. I was wondering if/how I would be able to connect my soundbar via the Sonos connect so I can play music through all of my sonos speakers and LG soundbar in order to create a whole home audio system that I could control through the sonos app or the alexa app.    

Hey Guys, I recently got the Sonos One Gen 2, and have finished setting it all up. However whenever I go to the Services & Voice settings in the Sonos App S2, it keeps asking me to enable the Sonos Skill, even though I already have. When I go to press on it and it takes me to the Alexa it says I have already enabled it. I'm just wondering if this is a bug or if I have missed something setting it up. Thanks guys.

I just got a Beam, and I'm enjoying it so far. The only annoying thing is that I can't get the Google assistant to handle a voice command to play music in all rooms. I have 3 other Sonos rooms, and when I say "Hey Google, play Miles Davis everywhere", she says she doesn't understand. And when I try "Hey Google, play Miles Davis in every room" she says "I can't do that yet. But I'm still learning" It seems like this would be a pretty basic command, given that the Sonos app shows 'Everywhere' as a default option in the Rooms menu. It's a little cumbersome to have to say "Hey Google, play ___ in the living room, and in the kitchen, and in the bedroom, and in the den, and in..." Has anyone else experienced this and found a better command? Or is this likely to become possible through a future update?

I have 2 Sonos ones and a Sonos beam all in different rooms. In general they all work beautifully. I was really looking forward to google assistant since I use this with various other devices. However I've run into a problem which is if my phone (Galaxy S8) in the same room as one of my Sonos devices, both the Sonos and my phone will respond to a hey Google command. I've searched all the various support forums and, surprisingly, I've yet to see this specific issue discussed. My devices are all up to date software - wise and I use the same email address for all my devices and phone. The devices are all found on google home as well. They do respond correctly to commands. The only issue is that both my phone and a device will respond if near to each other, which happens frequently since I tend to keep my phone nearby. How do I fix this? Thanks.

I have a Spotify family account with 5 separate logins, 1 for each family member and one for general house or guest use. I would like to set it so that when Sonos is controlled by Google Assistant, it uses the general house account instead of my personal account. The problem is that if I am not home, driving in my car, or home listening to headphones, and my kids use the Sonos system, whatever I'm listening to stops and it deletes my listening queue, then replaces it with what they are listening to, and if I start playing my device, it deletes what they are listening to. This defeats the purpose of having separate accounts to begin with. I've tried changing the account in the Sonos PC application but it keeps doing the same thing, as though the Google Assistant always defaults to my personal account no matter the Sonos settings. Please let me know how to fix this annoying problem. Thank you for any solutions!

I have two 1st generation Sonos Amp and two Connect devices and four Lutron Audio Pico remotes. The Sonos Amps are used for ceiling speakers in the main living space, each powering 2 sets of speakers which are set up as a Group on the Sonos app.  I would like all four remotes to control the group volume.  However, the remotes only control the volume of a single amp but they all control an on-off function and playlist selection of both amps.  Is it possible to have all remotes control the volume of both amps when they are grouped together?   I have tried to troubleshoot on the Lutron side.  The remote device can only be paired with one device, in this case one amp.  The app does not allow me to pair with more than one amp.  

Is there a plan to develop an Apple TV app?  The tvOS and IOS are very similar.  Then we wouldn’t have all the problems with play with Airplay crapping out if it the sound is coming from the Apple TV.   I really hate using airplay to start/stop music from the phone because all sound goes thru airplay thereafter.  It actually is backwards.  I originally bought Sonos so that music wouldn’t be interrupted by a phone call or text sounds like with bluetooth. They lasted for the first few years but now sonos is worse than bluetooth because all the sound is gone from the phone.  Unlike MACOS.. I can pick and choose where music plays in airplay to include keeping the music audio on the MAC at the same time.   So if the Apple TV has its own APP maybe my frustrations will be eased at bit.  Or a Samsung APP… 

Hi, There is any projected date for when the Google Assistant service will be available on Sonos in Portugal? 

Hi there - I’ve got a Sonos Play 1 which we use with Alexa (and Spotify music).    For a while I’ve had problems with the Spotify app or YouTube recognising/connecting to the Sonos speaker, which is put down to WiFi issues. Similarly, Alexa often won’t play Spotify tracks - despite repeating the name back... I’ve tried disabling and enabling Spotify - but that hasn’t changed things. When I go on the Sonos app I can play Spotify perfectly through it. So it’s odd that WiFi would be the issue.    if anyone has had a similar experience or knows what this might be I’d be grateful for any tips..
